Tooth autotransplantation refers to tooth transplantation from the donor to the recipient site of the same individual. Occasionally, there are situations where autotransplantation cannot be carried out immediately at clinic. In such cases, donor teeth cryopreservation is necessary to overcome limited indications. Cryopreservation media and nutrients play essential roles in preserving the periodontal ligament cells’ activity. Several studies have focused on cryopreservation media and nutrients. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) contains lots of growth factors without inducing immunologic responses or pathologic complications. Therefore, self serum and PRP might be positive factors in the cryopreservation process for preserving the periodontal ligaments (PDLs) viability. In this study, beagle dog's incisors were cryopreserved for three months in different cryopreservation media, including Dulbecco’s modified eagle medium (DMEM, containing DMSO), DMEM+20% self serum, DMEM+20% self serum+PRP, and DMEM+20% fetal bovine serum (FBS). Histological results revealed that DMEM+20% self serum+PRP and DMEM+20% FBS groups showed significantly less root resorption and higher regeneration of periodontal ligament cells and that PRP is a positive factor in the cryopreservation process to preserve PDLs viability. Therefore, cryopreservation media with PRP will be a good periodontal tissue regeneration option after long-term cryopreservation in a tooth autotransplantation procedure.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the ability of Mineral trioxide aggregate(MTA) to support osteoclastic differentiation from fetal rat calvarial cell. Methods: In this study, response of IL-6, RANKL, and OPG in fetal rat calvarial cells stimulated with IL-$1{\beta}$ on MTA was evaluated by ELISA and RT-PCR. Results: The results were as follows; there was no significant difference between glass and MTA at 5days. In ELISA analysis, Glass group and MTA group showed similar IL-6 expression, Glass+IL-$1{\beta}$ group and MTA+IL-$1{\beta}$ group showed similar IL-6 expression. In RT-PCR analysis, Glass group and MTA group showed similar IL-6, RANKL, OPG mRNA expression, MTA+IL-$1{\beta}$ group and Glass+IL-$1{\beta}$ group showed 3 fold increase of IL-6 and RNAKL mRNA expression when compared with MTA group. All groups showed similar OPG mRNA expression. Conclusions: MTA does not suppress cell proliferation and increase the proinflammatory cytokine that induce osteoclastogenesis. Thus, MTA is biocompatible material that could be used in various clinical conditions.

The effects of Mg and Al content on the microstructure and corrosion resistance of hot-dip Zn-Mg-Al alloycoated steel sheets were investigated. Pure Zn and Zn-based alloy coatings containing Mg (0-5 wt%) and Al (0.2-55 wt%) were produced by a hot-dip galvanizing method. Mg and Al addition induced formation of intermetallic microstructures, like primary Zn, Zn/MgZn2 binary eutectic, dendric Zn/Al eutectoid, and Zn/Al/MgZn2/ternary eutectic structures in the coating layer. MgZn2-related structures (Zn/MgZn2, Zn/Al/ MgZn2, MgZn2) played an important role in increasing the corrosion resistance of Zn-Mg-Al alloy-coated steel sheets. Zn-3%Mg-2.5%Al coating layer containing a large volume of lamellar-shaped Zn/MgZn2 binary eutectic structures showed the best cut-edge corrosion resistance. The analysis indicated that Mg dissolved from MgZn2 in the early stage of corrosion and migrated to the cathodic region of steel-exposed cut-edge area to form dense and ordered protective corrosion products, leading to prolonged cathodic protection of Zn- Mg-Al alloy-coated steel sheets.
