      • BioCube 擔體를 利用한 生物學的 下ㆍ廢水 高度處理 工程

        ABSTRACT 下,廢水의 質的안 變化와 함께 水量도 急擊히 增加하여 汚染負荷量이 增加하고 있고, 難分解 性 物質이 커짐에 따라 國內의 경우에도 放流水 水質基準 强化의 일환으로 質素와 燐에 대 한 規制가 施行되고 있으며 이를 處理하기 위한 適切한 工程이 要求되고 있는 실정이다. BioCube를 利用한 下·廢水 처리시스템은 A2/O 基本 工程을 國內實定에 맞게 變形한 工 程으로 暴氣槽에 流動形 微生物 擔體(BioCube)를 10∼30% 投入하여 窒酸化率을 높여 SRT 를 짧게 維持하면서도 下·廢水 內의 有機物 및 窒素와 燐의 安定된 除去가 可能하다. 즉, BioCube를 投入함으로써 Biomass 量을 增價시키고, 浮游成長式과 附着成長式 微生物 工程 의 長點을 組合함으로써 負荷變動d 강하고 겨울철에도 원할한 窒酸化를 誘導하며 追加的인 敷地의 增設없이 간단한 改補修를 통하여 榮養鹽類 除去를 極大化할 수 있도록 開發되었다. 擔體工程의 경우 微生物 成長에 따른 脫離現狀, 擔體의 閉寨 등이 重要한 問題點으로서, 이 를 解決학위해 BioCube는 廢水와의 流動을 통한 摩擦 및 氣孔性 確保를 통해 擔體내 微生 物 成長과 外部로의 擴散이 效率的으로 일어날 수 있도록 하였다. BioCube는 旣存製品에 비해 物性 및 微生物 活性度가 높으며, 目的에 따라 活性炭 또는 微生物을 固定化할 수 있는 多孔質의 폴리우레탄 材質로서 高農度의 MLSS(10,000-15,000 mg/L)를 內部에 固定하며 懸濁液 中의 微生物과 함께 暴氣槽내에서 流動한다.

      • 부직포를 삽입한 Gr/Ep 복합재료의 인장특성에 관한 연구

        In this paper, tensile properties of Gr/Ep with non-woven mat are investigated for effects to improve it. Composite materials are made by inserting non-woven glass mat and non-woven carbon mat between layers. The specimens were cut and polished according to ASTM standard. Longitudinal and Transverse Young's modulus are obtained by tensile test. Young's moduli without non-woven mat are compared with those with non-woven glass mat and non-woven carbon mat. Longitudinal and Transverse tensile strength, poisson's ratio are also investigated. Experimental results show that the longitudinal Young's modulus of composite materials with non-woven glass mat and with non-woven carbon mat is each about 16%, 23% lower than that of composite materials without non-woven mat. The longitudinal tensile strength of composite materials with non-woven glass mat and with non-woven carbon mat is each about 24% and 16% higher than that of composite materials without non-woven mat. And the transverse Young's modulus and tensile strength of composite materials with non-woven glass mat and with non-woven carbon mat is each about 10%, 35% higher than that of composite materials without non-woven mat. Longitudinal tensile strength of composite materials with non-woven carbon mat is about 10% higher than that of composite materials without non-woven mat. Longitudinal Pisson's ratio of composite materials with non-woven carbon mat is about 10% lower than that of composite materials without non-woven mat.

      • 대학의 교수학습 개발에 대한 요구분석 연구 : 동국대학교 교수집단을 중심으로 focusing on Faculties of the Dongguk University

        본 연구의 목적은 동국대학교의 교수들이 수행하고 있는 교수학습 방식을 파악하고 각 방법들의 효과성을 교수들이 어떻게 인식하고 있는지를 알아 보고자 하였으며 창의적 교수학습방법개발에 대한 교수들의 요구를 파악하여 교수학습개발센터의 프로그램개발을 위한 기초자료로 삼고자 하였다. 수업방식에 있어서 전공, 교양을 막론하고 대부분이 강의식 수업방식이 높았으며(80.9%, 86%), 발표식, 토론식이 (14%, 18.6%) 실험실습 등이 그 다음으로 나타났다. 교수들은 전공과목보다는 교양수업에서 학생들의 요구에 맞는 수업 수업방식을 고려하고 있는 반면 수업방식의 효과에 대해 53%만이 효과적이라고 보고하고 있다. 교수들도 효과적인 강의방법 등 교수법에 대해 체계적으로 학습할 필요성을 느끼고 있었다. 강의 기술(교수방법)과 토론 중심 수업 방법에 대한 워크샵에 대한 요구가 가장 높게 나타났고 발표수업과 프로젝트수업 방법 등 강의식 수업 이외의 다른 수업방식에 대한 워크샵 요구도가 높았다. 그 외에 학교의 지원에 대해서는 첨단 수업 기자재 활용을 위한 보조자(조교)에 대한 요구도가 가장 높고 강의 운영을 위한 보조금, 개인별 상담 지원 순으로 요구도가 높게 나타났다. The purpose of this study was to comprehend the methods of teaching and learning carried out by the teachers of Dongguk University, and to find out how the professors found those methods effective. This research was also used to serve as a basis for the development of a more creative teaching-learning system to enhance better programs for the Professor Teaching-Learning Development Center. In teaching methods, regardless of classes for majors or for cultural enrichment, most of the courses were in the form of lectures (80.9%, 86%) followed by research and discussion (14%, 18.6%), with experiment and practical training coming in third. Although professors tend to choose a more student-oriented class method in distribution courses more than in major courses, it was reported that only 53% of the faculty claimed this class method to be effective. The faculty felt the need for professors to have more constructive learning in incorporating more effective teaching methods. The demand for professor workshops on teaching skills (teaching methods) and discussion oriented classes proved to be high, as well as the need for workshops on teaching methods other than lectures, such as research courses and project oriented class methods. Regarding other demands for university support, the demand for an assistant (assistant teacher) to help with the new technology equipment was the highest, followed by subsidies for course management and support in individual counseling.

      • A Long-Term Comparative Study on Macrolepidoptera Diversity in Three Types of Vegetations from Wol-ak-san [Mt.], CB, KOREA

        With the help of KLTER/ME and KLPS in Woraksan, we have surveyed monthly diversity and seasonal prevalence of Macrolepidoptera in Wol-ak-san [Mt.], Jecheon for the period of five months from May to September since 2005. In 2007, to reduce variation, we chose two monitoring points from each of three representative vegetations in the area: Quercus mongolica-, Quercus variabilis- and Pinus densiflora-formations, abbreviated as QM, QV and PD, respectively, and collected exclusively larger moths with bucket-type of light traps for quantified survey. As a result, 1) QM and QV showed the much higher species diversity than PD; 2) in number of individuals collected, QM was the highest, almost twice that of QV, and nearly 8 times that of PD; 3) in Noctuidae and Geometridae collected, QM was the highest, while in Pyralidae and Arctiidae collected, QV was the highest; 4) June was the highest in species diversity, then July was a deep drop, probably due to a storm occurred in July; 5) the number of individuals collected may not be a good indicator as one species may be dominant too much in number of individuals: e.g., Idaea biselata collected in QM in June was over 200, changing the average number of individuals per species to 6.92, which more than twice that of all other sites per month.

      • Vocal Fold Augmentation with Beta Glucan Hydrogel Cross-Linked by <i>γ</i> Irradiation for Enhanced Duration of Effect: <i> In Vivo</i> Animal Study

        <P>This study explored a novel strategy to restore the vocal gap by using cross-linked <I>β</I>-glucan hydrogel by <I>γ</I>-irradiation. An aqueous solution of 5 wt% <I>β</I>-glucan was prepared and cross-linked using <SUP>60</SUP>Co <I>γ</I> irradiation. Ten nude mice were injected with 0.8 mL of irradiated <I>β</I>-glucan on the left back and the same volume of nonirradiated <I>β</I>-glucan on the right back for comparison. The mice were sacrificed at 1 and 2 weeks after injection and histological evaluations were performed. Irradiated <I>β</I>-glucan demonstrated a significantly larger volume than nonirradiated <I>β</I>-glucan in the back of nude mice with less inflammatory reaction. After unilateral recurrent laryngeal nerve section in New Zealand White rabbits, irradiated and nonirradiated <I>β</I>-glucan were injected into paralyzed vocal folds. Irradiated <I>β</I>-glucan remained at the paralyzed vocal fold without definite inflammatory signs on endoscopy. High-speed recordings of vocal fold vibration showed decreased vocal gap in irradiated group compared to nonirradiated group. Histologically, the laryngeal epithelium and lamina propria remained intact, without inflammatory cell infiltration. Our newly developed injection material, irradiated <I>β</I>-glucan, showed excellent biocompatibility and remained longer than nonirradiated <I>β</I>-glucan<I> in vivo</I>, suggesting irradiated hydrogels as a new therapeutic approach that may be useful for the long-term treatment of vocal fold palsy.</P>

      • The Response to Transarterial Chemoembolization According to the Post-Operative Recurrence Patterns in Combined Hepatocellular-Cholangiocarcinoma

        Aims: Combined HCC-CC (cHCC-CC) is presented as hypervascular tumor or peripheral enhancing tumor in dynamic CT scan. We evaluated the effect of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and prognosis according to the post-operative recurrence imaging patterns of cHCC-CC. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 43 cHCC-CC patients who were treated with TACE for 1<sup>st</sup> post-operative recurrence after curative surgical resection between January 2000 and May 2016 and 59 hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients between January 2008 and June 2008 at Asan Medical Center in Korea. Tumor with arterial enhancement more than 50% of tumor volume in CT was classified as hypervascular tumor, in contrast, tumor with peripheral enhancement were classified as peripheral enhancing tumor. Tumor responses were evaluated according to RECIST 1.1 criteria. Results: The median follow up duration was 53.5 months (interquartile range: 23.2 - 101.8 months). In cHCC-CC group, primary hypervascular and peripheral enhancing tumor were in 19 patients and 24 patients. Hypervascular recurred tumor and peripheral enhancement recurred tumor were in 26 patients and 17 patients. Agreement of imaging patterns between primary tumor and recurred tumor was 78.9% in hypervascular tumor, and 54.2% in peripheral enhancement tumor. After TACE, disease control rate was 84.7% in HCC, 88.5% in hypervascular recurred tumor, and 58.8% in peripheral enhancing recurred tumor (P-value = 0.034). The median survival time after recurrence for HCC was 67.5 months (95% CI 34.5 - 100.6 months) and 52.8 months (95% CI 6.4 - 99.2 months) for hypervascular recurred tumor and 12.4 months (95% CI 8.5 - 16.3 months) for peripheral enhancement recurred tumor (P-value < 0.001). In multivariable Cox regression, peripheral enhancing recurred tumor (HR 3.827, 95% CI 1.544 - 9.489, P-value = 0.004), progressive disease after TACE (HR 3.099, 95% CI 1.208 - 7.950, P-value = 0.019), and recurred tumor size > 2 cm (HR 2.882, 95% CI 1.250 - 2.644, P-value = 0.013) were significant prognostic factors. Conclusions: Recurred cHCC-CC with peripheral enhancement showed poor tumor response for TACE and poor prognosis after recurrence than hypervascular recurred tumor.

      • Decoupling of forest water supply and agricultural water demand attributable to deforestation in North Korea

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This study focused on changes in water balance attributable to severe deforestation in North Korea. The forest water supply and agricultural water demand of North Korea were quantified to identify their decoupling over the past three decades. Forest water supply and agricultural water demand before and after deforestation were estimated using the InVEST-WY (Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Trade-offs – Water Yield) and EPIC (Environmental Policy Integrated Climate) models, respectively. Analysis of land cover change before and after deforestation showed that area under forests decreased by 25%, whereas that under cropland increased by 63%, and that the conversion from forest to cropland was the largest for the study period. As a result, agricultural water demand increased and forest water supply decreased, significantly. Analysis of the net impact of deforestation on water budgets using recent climate and two land covers showed that forest water supply decreased by 43% and agricultural water demand increased by 62%. An assessment of the water balance at the watershed level showed that the Taedong, Ryesong, and Tumen Rivers suffered the largest negative change in terms of the large gross impact of deforestation on water resources. The water balance of the entire North Korea has declined by 51% and this is attributable to deforestation. In contrast, South Korea has experienced success in national-scale afforestation in recent decades, and North Korea can emulate this. The restoration of forests in North Korea promises more than environmental benefits; it will provide a new growth engine for the prosperity of the Korean Peninsula as a whole.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> North Korea’s land cover changes before (1980s) and after (2010s) deforestation showed that forests decreased by 25%, cropland increased by 63%. </LI> <LI> Estimating net impact of deforestation using InVEST and EPIC model, indicated that forest water supply decreased by 43% and agricultural water demand increased by 62%. </LI> <LI> The water balance of entire North Korea which was 32,406 million m<SUP>3</SUP> yr<SUP>−1</SUP> before deforestation, was declined by 51% to 16,015 million m<SUP>3</SUP> yr<SUP>−1</SUP> after deforestation. </LI> <LI> Attributable to deforestation, regions that supply water transformed into high demand areas, accelerating negative changes in the national water balance. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Case Report : Perirenal Lymphangioma Combined With Multiple Splenic and hepatic Cysts

        Lymphangioma usually occurs in children and usually involves neck and axillary region. Renal or perirenal cystic lymphangioma, hepatic lymphangiomatosis and splenic lymphangiomatosis are very rare disorders. Perirenal cystic lymphangioma combined with multiple hepatic cysts or multiple splenic cysts suspected to be lymphangiomatosis has not been reported in adults in this country until now. The patient was a 43-year-old woman who had been diagnosed with multiple splenic cysts about ten years ago. She presented with a perirenal cystic lesion discovered incidentally and we detected small multiple hepatic cysts additionally with abdominal CT. We removed perirenal cyst surgically and a perirenal lymphangioma was confirmed.
