      • A 1.0-ns/1.0-V Delay-Locked Loop With Racing Mode and Countered CAS Latency Controller for DRAM Interfaces

        <P>The digital delay-locked loop (DLL) with racing mode and the countered column address strobe (CAS) latency controller are proposed in this paper. The dual-DLL architecture with racing operation is adopted to achieve low power consumption, low jitter, fast locking, wide range of locking, and stuck-free control. The merged dual coarse delay line (MDCDL) reduces the dynamic power consumption of a variable delay line by 30% by sharing a part of the delay line path in DLL. In addition, jitter is reduced by 45 ps in the 1066-DDR3 operating mode by MDCDL. The proposed DLL utilizes an or-and functioned duty cycle corrector (or-and DCC), which consumes 15% of DLL's power, 0.915 pJ/Hz at tCK=1.5 ns and VDD=1.575 V. The countered CAS latency controller (CCLC) saves IDD3N current because it does not need a DLL clock and does not need to be activated for IDD3N (active non-power down) state. The DLL clock is enabled and CCLC is activated only when the read command is issued. This operation condition saves the IDD3N current by 60% with the proposed DLL. The proposed DLL is employed in 128 M×8 DDR3 SDRAM and 64 M×16 DDR3 SDRAM. The former and the latter are fabricated by 5×nm and by 4× nm DRAM process technology, respectively. Experimental results show that ±10% duty error of the external clock can be corrected to within ±2% duty error in less than 512 cycles of locking time under 1.5 ns of tCK. The proposed DLL and CCLC can operate above 1.0-GHz operating frequency at 1.2 V in 5× nm DDR3 SDRAM and at 1.0 V in 4× nm DDR3 SDRAM, respectively. The proposed DLL fabricated with 4× nm technology consumes 6.1 pJ/Hz at 1.575 V.</P>

        Comparative Analyses of Tomato yellow leaf curl virus C4 Protein-Interacting Host Proteins in Healthy and Infected Tomato Tissues

        Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV), a member of the genus Begomovirus, is one of the most important viruses of cultivated tomatoes worldwide, mainly causing yellowing and curling of leaves with stunting in plants. TYLCV causes severe problems in sub-tropical and tropical countries, as well as in Korea. However, the mechanism of TYLCV infection remains unclear, although the function of each viral component has been identified. TYLCV C4 codes for a small protein involved in various cellular functions, including symptom determination, gene silencing, viral movement, and induction of the plant defense response. In this study, through yeast-two hybrid screenings, we identified TYLCV C4-interacting host proteins from both healthy and symptom-exhibiting tomato tissues, to determine the role of TYLCV C4 proteins in the infection processes. Comparative analyses of 28 proteins from healthy tissues and 36 from infected tissues showing interactions with TYLCV C4 indicated that TYLCV C4 mainly interacts with host proteins involved in translation, ubiquitination, and plant defense, and most interacting proteins differed between the two tissues but belong to similar molecular functional categories. Four proteins-two ribosomal proteins, S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine hydrolase, and 14-3-3 family protein-were detected in both tissues. Furthermore, the identified proteins in symptom-exhibiting tissues showed greater involvement in plant defenses. Some are key regulators, such as receptor-like kinases and pathogenesis-related proteins, of plant defenses. Thus, TYLCV C4 may contribute to the suppression of host defense during TYLCV infection and be involved in ubiquitination for viral infection.

        스토킹 행위자 위치추적 전자장치 부착제도의 도입 쟁점과 과제

        이 연구는 2021년 10월 시행된 스토킹처벌법의 미비점으로 지적되는 피해자 보호와 가해자 제재 강화를 위해 위치추적 전자장치 부착제도의 도입을 검토하였다. 현행 제도의 문제점을 확인하고, 최근의 개정입법 현황에 대해 살펴보았다. 특히, 해외의 법제 검토와 국내 입법진행상 국회 법사위원회에서의 논의과정을 통해 제도 도입의 방향과 추가적인 고려사항을 도출하였다. 첫째, 위치추적 전자장치 부착제도가 갖는 기본권 침해 가능성을 최소화하기 위해서는 법관의 판단이 필요한 잠정조치에 포함하여야 한다. 둘째, 제도운용의 주체는 3원화하여 부착명령은 법원이, 장치 관리 및 탈부착은 경찰이, 부착자 위치추적 감시는 법무부가 각각 수행한다. 다만, 기관간 협조체계 구축을 위해 경찰과 보호관찰관의 인적 교류를 제안한다. 셋째, 부착기간은 최대 2개월로 하되 최대 2회 연장이 가능한 것으로 하고, 잠정조치 위반 시 다른 잠정조치에 부과되는 벌칙과 동일하게 2년 이하 징역 또는 2,000만원 이하 벌금형이 타당하다고 본다. 끝으로, 쌍방향 전자감독 제도 도입의 논의와 제도도입의 효과평가를 통해 제도개선과 보완을 위한 환류체계를 제안한다. The study examined the introduction of a location-tracking electronic device attachment system to protect victims and strengthen sanctions on perpetrators, which are pointed out as deficiencies in the Stalking Punishment Act, which took effect in October 2021. The problems of the current system were identified and the current status of the recently revised legislation was examined. In particular, the direction of the introduction of the system and additional considerations were derived through the discussion process at the National Assembly Judiciary Committee during the review of overseas legislation and domestic legislation. First, in order to minimize the possibility of infringement of basic rights of the location tracking electronic device attachment system, it should be included in temporary measures that require judgment by judges. Second, the subject of the system operation is three won, and the attachment order is carried out by the court, the device management and attachment are carried out by the police, and the Ministry of Justice is responsible for monitoring the location of the attachment. However, in order to establish a cooperative system between institutions, human exchanges between the police and probation officers are proposed. Third, the attachment period is up to two months, but it can be extended up to two times, but in the same way as penalties imposed on other provisional measures in the event of a violation of provisional measures, imprisonment for up to two years or a fine of up to 20 million won is considered reasonable. Finally, a reflux system for improving and supplementing the system is proposed through discussion of the introduction of a two-way electronic supervision system and evaluation of the effectiveness of the introduction of the system.

        Characterization of Burkholderia glumae Putative Virulence Factor 11 (PVF11) via Yeast Two-Hybrid Interaction and Phenotypic Analysis

        In this study, PVF11 was selected among 20 candidate pathogenesis-related genes in Burkholderia glumae based on its effect on virulence to rice. PVF11 was found to interact with several plant defense-related WRKY proteins as evidenced through yeast-two hybrid analysis (Y2H). Moreover, PVF11 showed interactions with abiotic and biotic stress response-related rice proteins, as shown by genome-wide Y2H screening employing PVF11 and a cDNA library from B. glumae-infected rice. To confirm the effect of PVF11 on B. glumae virulence, in planta assays were conducted at different stages of rice growth. As a result, a PVF11-defective mutant showed reduced virulence in rice seedlings and stems but not in rice panicles, indicating that PVF11 involvement in B. glumae virulence in rice is stage-dependent.

      • Underground Object Classification using 3D GPR Data

        In this study, a novel method based on ground penetration radar (GPR) is proposed to categorize underground objects by using both B-scan and C-scan images. Three-dimensional GPR data obtained from a multichannel GPR system are reconstructed into a two-dimensional (2D) grid image which consists of several B-scan and C-scan images. Three-dimensional shape information of an underground object can be well represented in 2D grid image. The 2D grid images are then trained using deep convolutional neural networks (CNN) that is a state-of-the-art technique for image classification problem. The proposed method is validated through field applications on urban roads in Seoul, South Korea.

      • 3-D Virtual Studio for Natural Inter-“Acting”

        <P>Virtual studios have long been used in commercial broadcasting. However, most virtual studios are based on 'blue screen' technology, and its two-dimensional (2-D) nature restricts the user from making natural three-dimensional (3-D) interactions. Actors have to follow prewritten scripts and pretend as if directly interacting with the synthetic objects. This often creates an unnatural and seemingly uncoordinated output. In this paper, we introduce an improved virtual-studio framework to enable actors/users to interact in 3-D more naturally with the synthetic environment and objects. The proposed system uses a stereo camera to first construct a 3-D environment (for the actor to act in), a multiview camera to extract the image and 3-D information about the actor, and a real-time registration and rendering software for generating the final output. Synthetic 3-D objects can be easily inserted and rendered, in real time, together with the 3-D environment and video actor for natural 3-D interaction. The enabling of natural 3-D interaction would make more cinematic techniques possible including live and spontaneous acting. The proposed system is not limited to broadcast production, but can also be used for creating virtual/augmented-reality environments for training and entertainment</P>

      • Developing a Decision Support Model for a High Performance Computing System Selection for Computational Science using AHP

        Traditionally computational scientists have used supercomputers to solve their scientific problems using multi-processors and large-scale shared memory, and scientific communities have also used Grid computing for scientific projects using large-scale computation and data resources. Recently Cloud computing is a emerging infrastructure to be considered for scientific applications and several institutes applied this to their projects. But there is no sure method for computational scientists to select a environment to fit their researches though diverse researches using these infrastructures are conducted in a variety of science domains. In this paper we describe three infrastructures for scientific researches through literature reviews, and we deliberate on what factors are considered to select one infrastructure to solve scientific problems from a scientists’ point of view. And then, analytic hierarchy process is introduced as an approach for choosing a proper infrastructure, and we propose a model to choose a appropriate infrastructure reflected by various aspects of computational science’s properties via this approach. Thus this paper offers a novel viewpoint to scientists when they choose a high performance computing environment for their researches.
