Baseball is rapidly getting popularity in Korea as it has been in U.S.A and Japan. During the last decade, threre were several studies about baseball injuries which oriented mainly to the overuse injuries of growing baseball players. But there was no study the professional baseball players systematically. This study was surposed to see the general characteristics of baseball injuries and to provide the prevention and rehabilitation programs if recommended. The number of 83 injuries of 60 baseball players was analysed according to the position, injury site, diagnosis, injury mechanism and duration of injury. The mean age and height of 60 subjects were 24.6 years old and 180.65㎝, respectively. The baseball position of 82 injured cases were composed of 27 pitchers, 30 infielder, 19 outfielder and 6 catchers. The characteristics of injury were as follows: 1.The number of chronic injury was 56 cases(68.3%) and the percentage of chronic injury of pitchers was up to 81.5% compared 73.3% of infielder and 47.4% of outfielder. 2. The injury rate of both lower and upper extremitis were equal and the rate of lower back problems was the second, which should be concerned. 3. The number of cases injured by direct collison is as low as 15(18.3%). The most common secondary cause of injury was aggressive throwing itself and 26 out of 49 cases injured not by direct collision. 4. More concern should be payed about the low back problems and about the catcher and the field players as much as pitchers from now one.
Brucella abortus 국내 분리주의 36kDa 외막단백을 암호하는 omp2b 유전자의 염기 분석

B. abortus 국내 분리주의 분자유전학적 성상을 규명하고 분자역학적 연구에 필요한 기초자료를 얻기위해 36kDa OMP를 암호하는 omp2b 유전자를 PCR법으로 확인하고, 그리고 omp2b 유전자의 핵염기 서열과 아미노산 서열을 결정하고 이 결과를 Brucella 표준균주 및 여러 동물에서 분리된 Brucella 분리주와 상호 비교 분석하였던 바 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다 1. B. abortus 분리주 (7주)에 대해 omp2b primers를 이용하여 PCR을 수행 한 바 공시한 참조균주와 분리균주 모두에서 1,251bp의 특이한 DNA 절편이 각각 증폭되었다 2. omp2b 유전자의 1,089bp에 대한 염기서열과 이에 대한 362개의 아미노산 서열을 결정하였다. 분리균주의 omp2b 유전자의 염기서열을 참조균주와 비교 분석한 결과 B. abortus 2308 (biovar 1) 및 B. abortus B3196 (biovar 5)과는 99.6%~l00% 및99.5%~99.9%의 매우 높은 상품성을 나타내었고, B. abortus 45/20 (biovar 1)과는 97.1%~97.4%의 상품성을 나타내었다. 또한 362개의 아미노산 서열에 대해 분석하였던 바, 분리균주들은 B. abortustus 2308 (biovar 1) 및 B. abortus B3196 (biovar 5)과는 99.2%~l00%의 매우 높은 상품성을 보였으며, B. abortus 45/20 (biovar 1)과는 96.4%~97.2%의 상품성을 보였다. 3. 본 시험에 공시된 브루셀라균주의 omp2b 유전자서열과 여러 동물에서 분리된 브루셀라 분리주의자료를 바탕으로 phylogenetic tree를 작성 한 바, 국내 분리주는 B. abortus 2308 (biovar 1), B. abortus B3196 (blovar 5), B. abortus 45/20 (biovar 1), B. suis 1330 (biovar 1), B. melitensis 16M (biovar 1), B. canis NCTC 01854, B. neotomae 5k33과 97.3%이상의 높은 근연성을 보이며 동일한 cluster에 소속되었으며, omp2b 유전자는 매우 잘 보존됨을 알 수 있었다. omp2b gene of Brucella abortus isolates encoding 36kDa outer membrane protein (OW) was amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and the sequences of nucleotide and amino acid were determined and analyzed to obtain the basic data for molecular epidemiological features of brucellosis in Korea. In PCR using omp2b primers for the gene of 36kDa OMP, the specific signals at 1,251bp were demonstrated, The nucleotide sequences of omp2b gene of 1,089bp were sequenced by dye terminator cycle sequencing method, and 362 amino acid sequences were predicted. As compared the nucleotide sequences with those of B. abortus reference strains, the isolates showed the very high homology to the reference strains ranging 97.1%-100%. The similar results were also obtained in the analysis of the amino acid sequences. In the phylogenetic tree, the isolates clustered with the reference strains and the majority of strains originated from pig, dog, wood rat and cattle.

옥수수 뿌리에서 전처리 방법에 따른 굴중성 반응의 효과

This research were focused on the methods of the pretreatment of chemicals in the study of gravitropic response. The filter paper method which was wrapped the whole roots showed the similar response to the control. According to the methods, we examined the effect of 10(-6) MIAA. The treatment of IAA inhibited the gravitropic response in all the type of pretreatment. Specially, the filter paper method showed the significant effect in the primary roots of maize.
금속촉매산화계에 의한 단백질과 DNA의 산화적 손상에 대한 Candida Protetor의 효과

Candida pseudotropicalis로부터 분리 정제된 항산화단백은 메르캅탄을 포함한 금속촉매산화계에 의한 대장균 글루타민합성효소의 불활성화 및 효소 단백의 분절을 억제하였을 뿐 아니라 DNA의 분절 또한 억제하였으나 전자공여체로서 아스코르브산을 포함한 금속촉매산화계에 의한 산화적 손상은 억제하지 못하였다. 그러나 아스코르브산을 포함한 금속촉매산화계에 의한 DNA의 분절은 디티오트레이톨 존재시 Candida 항산화단백에 의하여 억제되었는 바 Candida 항산화단백은 금속촉매산화계를 억제하개 위하여 메르캅탄을 요구하는 것으로 보인다.
참박과 호박 종자의 발아촉진을 위한 저선량 감마선의 효과

참박과 호박 채종종자의 발아율을 증진시킬 수 잇는 종자 처리 방법을 확립하고자 저선량 감마선을 1∼20 Gy 까지 조사하여 발아와 초기생육 및 생리활성을 관찰하였다. 저선량 조사한 참박과 호박종자의 발아율은 대조구보다 증가하는 경향을 보였는데 효과는 종자상태에 따라 다르게 나타났다. 참박 70∼80% 발아율종자의 발아는 4∼20 Gy에서 증가하였는데 특히 4 Gy조사에서 가장 높았고, 80∼90% 발아율종자도 4 Gy 조사에서 효과를 보였다. 파종 4일 후의 발아율은 참박 70∼80%와 80∼90% 발아율 종자의 경우는 4 Gy조사에서 대조구보다 각각 66%와 26% 증가하였고, 호박의 70∼80% 발아율종자는 2 Gy 조사에서, 80∼90% 발아율종자는 8 Gy 조사에서 향상되었다. 저선량 조사한 유묘생육은 발아율이 증가한 선량에서 증가하였는데 특히 호박 70∼80% 종자의 2 Gy 조사에서 가장 높았다. 파종 6일 후에 조사한 참박의 효소활성은 4 Gy조사시에 단백질과 catalase 활성이, 호박의 경우는 catalase와 peroxidase 활성이 2 Gy와 8 Gy 조사에서 증가하였다. 참박과 호박종자의 발아와 유묘생육 및 생리활성은 저선량 감마선 조사에 의해 촉진됨을 확인할 수 있었다. To establish the seed treatment method of the gamma radiation for germination enhancement of bottle gourd(Lagenaria siceraria Standl) and pumpkin(Cucurbita ficifolia Bouche), seeds were irradiated with the dose 1~20 Gy of the gamma radiation. The germination rate in irradiated group was higher than that of the control, depending on seed condition. In the case of bottle gourd, the germination rate of 70~80% germinative seed was increased at 4-20 Gy irradiated groups. Especially, it was the highest at 4 Gy irradiated group. The germination rate of 80~90% germinative seed was the highest at 4 Gy irradiated group. The germination rate of 70~80% and 80~90% germinative seed at 4 days after sowing was increased 66% and 26% at 4 Gy irradiated group, respectively. In the case of pumpkin, the germination rate of 70~80% and 80~90% germinative seed was increased at 2 Gy and 8 Gy irradiated group, respectively. Effect of the low-dose gamma radiation on the early growth was enhanced depending on their germination enhancement. Especially, it was the highest at 2 Gy irradiated group of 70~80% gen inative seed of pumpkin. Catalase activity of bottle gourd was increased at 4 Gy irradiated group. Catalase and peroxidase activity of pumpkin were increased at 2 Gy and 8 Gy irradiated group. These results suggest that the germination, early growth and physiological activity of bottle gourd and pumpkin seeds could be promoted by the low dose gamma radiation.
건강가정지원센터 가정생활교육 프로그램 운영 및 성과 : 용산구·숙명여자대학교 시범사업을 중심으로

The purpose of this study is to propose a model for service programs and management strategies for the division of family education in Healthy Families Center. For the purpose, the researchers find out demands for the family education programs of people in Yong-San Gu, Seoul, exam the effect of each family education program of Yong-San Gu & Sookmyung Women's University Healthy Families Center from June to December, 2004. According to the results, people in Yong-San Gu need economic education service mostly, and they want to study at Saturday afternoon. The programs show positive effect on the improvement of family health.

Purpose: This study was a predicative survey to provide elderly hospital in-patients for analyzing their educational needs and educational experience about medication teaching. Method: The subjects consisted of 114 elderly hospital in-patients. Data were collected by researcher, who directly interviewed with them through questionnaires from April 26th to May 7th, from July 20th to Aug. 3th in 2006. The questionnaires for data collection were developed through reference review. The collected data was analyzed by using frequency, percentile, mean, variation, t-test, ANOVA on SPSS 12.0 package. Results: There were past medication related characters of elderly hospital in-patients: circulatory-related illness was the most common disease; 76.3% of them took medicine; 65.8% of them didn't know medicine name; 67.5% of them knew effect of medicine. There were present medication related characters of elderly hospital in-patients: present illness with hospitalized was neurogenic and cerebrovascular disease(59.6%); 95.6% of them took medicine; 90.4% of them didn't know medicine name; 59.6% of them knew effect of medicine. Educational needs of medication teaching were 75.6% and its mean were 94.54±15.54. They required discharging from hospital(4.51±0.68), whenever medicine was changed(4.36±0.79), the effect of medicine (4.35±0.82), the time take medicine(4.31±0.72); the most teaching method they required was “explain with words”(4.20±0.84). Educational experience were 30%. They experienced when hospitalized initially(45.6%), whenever medicine was changed(41.2%), the effect of medicine (64.0%); the most teaching method they experienced was “explain with words”(69.3%). Conclusion: The elderly hospital in-patients educational needs were high, but experience were low. Therefore systematic educational programs about elderly hospital in-patients should be made on the base of this study.

Many cutaneous reactions have been known to occur within resolved herpes zoster lesions. These include granuloma annulare, pseudolymphoma, lymphoma, granulomatous vasculitis, lichen planus and other dermatoses. The pathogenesis of these reactions remains unclear and it has been proposed that they may represent isotopic response. A dermatomal distribution in lichen planus is very rare. We report here a case of zosteriform lichen planus that was developed on the site previously affected by herpes zoster. (Korean J Dermatol 2004;42(2):217~219)

The purpose of study is that we will observe the change of CGRP(calcitonin gene-related peptide) within the cell with the immunohistochemistry method and then we will study the effect of microcurrent stimulation therapy following the frequency after inducing pain to rats with capsaicin. Eighty rat were classified to SD and they have growed for 8 weeks. I classify to four groups, ordinal group is used in experiment Ⅰ, the group which we induce pain is used in experiment Ⅱ, the application group which we induce pain and then the high frequency micro current stimulation is used in experiment Ⅲ, the application group which we induce pain and then the low frequency micro current stimulation is used in experiment Ⅳ, I get the following result. Compare with experiment Ⅱ, experiment Ⅲ, and expriment Ⅳ react from CGRP immunoreactive weakly, seven days later, they decrease remarkably. According to these results, from rats induced pain, micro current stimulation effect to reducing pain, but following frequency micro current stimulation therapy isn't different from immunoreactive CGRP.
