<P>This study aimed to investigate the quality of fresh noodles prepared using insoluble dietary fiber-enriched fractions (IEF) recovered from kimchi by-products (KBP) and common wheat flour, instead of semolina. Four samples (NICO, NIC2, NIC4, and NIC6) were prepared using common wheat flour mixed with different ratios of IEF (0 g/100 g; 2 g/100 g; 4 g/100 g; 6 g/100 g, respectively); Semolina pasta (SMP) was prepared as control. With increasing IEF ratios, cooking loss and swelling indexes increased significantly (p < 0.05). SEM images showed continuous and clear air pockets that were observed in NIC2 and SMP, whereas a loose protein network and big air pockets were observed in NIC4 and NIC6. After addition of IEF, L*, a*, and b* of samples decreased in all samples. Hardness of all samples in TPA was not statistically different regardless of the addition of IEF to common wheat flour. NIC2 showed the highest overall acceptability in sensory evaluation, while hardness, texture, color, taste, and flavor decreased in higher than 2 g/100 g (p < 0.05) IEF. Based on these results, fresh noodle using 2 g/100 g IEF from KBP and common wheat flour showed a great possibility to replace semolina pasta. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.</P>

<P>The present study was carried out to investigate the effects of stocking density, fumonisin B1 (FB), and mycotoxin binder (TB) on growth performance, bone quality, physiological stress indicators, and gut health in broiler chickens. Day-old Ross 308 male broiler chicks (n = 1,440/experiment) were randomly allocated to 72 floor pens in a 3 x 2 x 2 factorial arrangement, using 3 stocking densities (12.5 birds/m(2) [HSD], 10 birds/m(2) [MSD], or 7.5 birds/m(2) [LSD]), 2 levels of purified FB (0 or 10 ppm), and 2 levels of TB (0 or 0.2%). Each treatment had 6 replicates (n = 6/treatment) and experiments lasted 34 days. All data were analyzed using 3-way ANOVA with stocking density level, FB, and TB as main factors. Body weight gain and feed intake were lower (P < 0.05) in broilers kept at HSD and MSD compared to LSD-housed counterparts. Birds fed an FB-contaminated diet exhibited a higher feed-to-gain ratio compared with those fed an FB-free diet (P < 0.05). None of the treatments affected intestinal morphology or ileal secretory immunoglobulin A levels. Stocking density affected tibia breaking strength (P < 0.05), which was lower in chickens housed at HSD compared with LSD-housed chickens. The heterophil/lymphocyte ratio (H/L ratio) was elevated (P < 0.05) in HSD and MSD groups compared with the LSD group. Serum nitric oxide (NO) levels were elevated (P < 0.05) in chickens fed the FB-contaminated diet compared with the control dietfed counterparts. Significant interaction (P < 0.05) between FB and TB on serum NO levels was noted. In summary, increasing stocking density lowered growth performance and bone quality, but increased the H/L ratio. Dietary TB did not affect FB-induced increases in the feed-to-gain ratio. No interaction was observed between stocking density and FB for the measured variables.</P>

The response of a martensitic stainless steel, AISI 403, to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) under Mode Ⅰ and Mode Ⅲ loading has been investigated. SCC tests were conducted in 3.5 % NaCl solution using precracked specimens, tempered at 390℃, 520℃ and 610℃. Average crack propagation rates at various stress intensity levels were measured and compared for each mode. Experimental evidence indicates that Mode Ⅰloading exhibits higher crack propagation rate or stronger susceptibility to SCC than Mode Ⅲ loading under all the tempering conditions, which suggests that hydrogen embrittlement is involved in SCC. Furthermore, fractographic study reveals that SCC under both of the loading mode occurs on the notch plane with a predominant mode of intergranular fracture in all of the aforementioned tempering conditions.

The plane strain stress corrosion threshold stress intensity factor, K_(ISCC), has been determined for a martensitic stainless steel, AISI 403, in quenched and tempered conditions. The specimens were tempered at three different temperatures of 390℃, 520℃ and 610℃, and tested in 3.5 percent NaCl solution. The measured K_(ISCC) values varied remarkably depending on the tempering temperature: the highest value of 72.3 MPa◎m for 610℃ and the lowest value of 13.3 MPa◎m for 520℃. Fractographic study revealed that the intergranular fracture was dominant after stress corrosion cracking in all the specimens investigated.

규소 산화막을 ECR-CVD(electron cyclotron resonance-chemical vapor deposition) 증착방법으로 5인치 기판위에 상온에서 증착하고, 증착공정조건인 증착율, 기판온도, 마이크로파의 세기변화 및 플라즈마 혼합기체의 비에 따른 규소 산화막의 특성을 조사하였다. 또한 산화막의 구조적인 특성을 비교하기 위해 FTIR을 이용하여 ECR-CVD 증착한 산화막, RPE-CVD(remote plasma enhanced-CVD) 증착한 산화막 및 열 산화막의 stretching frequency를 측정하였다. 측정된 결과 ECR-CVD로 증착된 산화막이 구조적인 면에서 열 산화막과 거의 같음을 보였다. ECR-CVD로 증착된 산화막의 전기적인 특성을 전류-전압 및 축전-전압 측정에의하여 분석하였다. 축전된 산화막의 전기적인 특성은 산화막의 전하 밀도는 1×10 exp (11)/㎠이였고, 평균 절연 파괴 전압은 약 6 MV/㎝이다. We have grown thin films of SiO_2 at room temperature by using an ECR-CVD system and have investigated the changes in the properties of the deposited films with changes in the processing conditions such as the deposition rate, the substrate temperature, the microwave power and the plasma gas mixing ratio. We also measured the stretching frequency of three kinds of oxides, and ECR-CVD-grown oxide, a PECVD-grown oxide, and a thermally grown oxide, using FTIR analysis to compare their structural properties. The result shows that the structural properties of the ECR-grown oxide are similar to those of the thermally grown oxide. Additionally, the electrical properties of the ECR-grown oxide were investigated by using current-voltage and capacitance-voltage measurements. These electrical results indicate that the oxide charge density and the average breakdown voltage are 1×10 exp (11) ㎝^-2 and 6 MV/㎝, respectively.

Background: Despite characteristic clinical features of glomus tumor, dermatologists can meet diagnostic difficulty in some cases with glomus tumor. Objectives: To investigate clinical features and dermoscopic findings of glomus tumors. Methods: For 22 cases of glomus tumors, sex, age of initial visit, disease duration, site of lesion, size, associated symptoms and nail deformities and dermoscopic findings were investigated. Results: Mean age of initial visit and disease duration was 43.4±13.4 years old and 5.6±5.1 years, respectively(19 female, 3 male). Both 1st Fingers(9, 40.9%) were most common involved site. Nail lunula(12,54.5%) was more frequently involved than proximal nail fold(6,27.3%) or nail bed(4,18.2%). 15 cases were identifiable for size, and mean size was 6.0±1.9mm. There was associated symptoms such as pain(16,72.7%), tenderness(7,31.8%) and cold intolerance(2,9.1%). Onychoschizia(13,59.1%), longitudinal ridging(12,54.5%) and distal nail notching(8,36.4%) were commonly associated nail changes. On dermoscopic examination, whitish patch(16, 72.7%), purplish patch(15, 68.2%), erythematous patch(13, 59.1%) and irregular linear vessel(1, 4.5%) were observed. In 9 cases(40.9%), characteristic three zone consisting of central purplish patch, middle erythematous patch and peripheral whitish patch were observed. Conclusion: Characteristic dermoscopic findings of this study can help making more accurate diagnosis and performing appropriated treatment in glomus tumors
