        초기문해 교수방법에 대한 교수자 집단 간의 이론적 경향성 및 파닉스 지식 비교 연구

        교사의 교수 철학과 신념, 그리고 지식은 교수 내용 및 방법에 영향을 미친다. 본 연구는 공교육에서 학습장애 및 학습부진 학생의 교육을 담당하는 특수교사와 일반교사 그리고 학습상담사의 초기문해 교수법 대한 이론적 경향성과 파닉스 지식 수준을 알아보고자 하였다. 102명의 특수교사와 일반교사, 학습상담사를 대상으로 설문을 실시한 결과 음운분석적 접근법에 대한 이론적 경향성에서는 세 집단 간 차이가 나타나지 않았으나, 통언어적 접근법에 대한 이론적 경향성 및 파닉스 지식 수준에서는 유의한 차이가 발견되었다. 사후검증결과 통언어적 접근법에 대한 이론적 경향성은 일반교사가 학습상담사에 비하여 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 파닉스 지식 수준은 특수교사와 일반교사가 학습상담사보다 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과는 이들의 상이한 교육적 배경에서 온 것으로 추론되었다. 학습장애 및 학습부진 교육에서 중요한 부분을 차지하는 파닉스 교수를 효과적으로 제공하기 위해서는 교사교육 및 연수의 내용을 개선하여 교수자의 이론적 경향성과 지식을 강화해야 할 필요가 있음을 제안하였다. Teachers’ practices are influenced by their beliefs and knowledge. We conducted a survey to three groups of teachers who teach students with learning disabilities in the current public education system. The survey was designed to investigate their instructional beliefs regarding early reading and writing instruction as well as to assess their phonics knowledge. Thirty eight general classroom teachers, 21 special education teachers, and 43 learning consultants responded to the survey. Results showed that there was no difference among teacher groups about the instructional beliefs in phonics based approach. However, there was a significant group differences in the beliefs in whole language based approach and phonics knowledge. Post-hoc analyses revealed that general education teachers had a stronger belief in whole language based approach than learning consultants. Also, special education teachers and general education teachers had higher level of phonics knowledge than learning consultants. Authors suggested that the differences among groups might have resulted by their differences in educational background. It was discussed that teachers’ instructional beliefs and knowledge level should be considered in the teacher placement and in the development of teacher workshops. In addition, teacher education programs need to be improved in preparing teachers for effective phonics instructions for students with learning difficulties.

      • Ultraviolet-C-Induced Apoptosis Protected by 635-nm Laser Irradiation in Human Gingival Fibroblasts

        <P>OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to examine the protection afforded by 635-nm irradiation against ultraviolet (UV)-C-induced apoptosis in primary human gingival fibroblasts (hGFs). BACKGROUND DATA: UV irradiation is known to cause photoaging and cellular apoptosis of skin cells and is considered to be one of the leading causes of skin carcinogenesis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: To induce apoptosis, UV-C (100 mJ/cm2) was used to irradiate hGFs. To protect them from apoptosis, pretreatment with 635-nm irradiation was performed for 1 h immediately after cell plating 36 or 48 h before UV-C irradiation. The light source used for irradiation was a continuous-wave 635-nm LED laser emitting at 1 mW/cm2. Experimental samples were selected 24 h after UV-C irradiation. To measure the numbers of apoptotic cells, MTT assay and flow cytometric analyses were performed. For histomorphologic findings, Diff-Quick staining was carried out. Also, the activities and mRNA expression of caspase-3, caspase-8, and caspase-9 were measured. RESULTS: In the present study, the number of apoptotic cells declined in the cells that were pretreated with 635-nm light irradiation in a time-dependent manner. In addition, the activities and mRNA expression of caspase-3, caspase-8, and caspase-9 were significantly recovered by pretreatment with 635-nm irradiation. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that 635-nm visible light irradiation may be used as a protective tool to prevent UV-C-induced apoptosis.</P>

        Hand-to-face contact behaviors during indoor activities in daily life among Korean adults: an observational pilot study using videotaping

        OBJECTIVES: Hand-to-face contact (HFC) is the major route for the self-inoculation of pathogens. This study aimed to describe the characteristics of HFC behaviors among Korean adults during indoor activities. METHODS: Thirty participants were enrolled in the study, and 2 hours of videotaped data were collected from each participant. Contact data were recorded by examining the frequency and duration of HFC on the videos. Three training sessions were conducted for 2 readers to ensure the accuracy and reliability of videotape reading. Re-reading and verification of selected video data were performed to confirm intrapersonal and interpersonal validity. Contact exposure (CE) was determined by multiplying the contact frequency (CF) by the contact duration (CD) to quantify the intensity of contact during the observation time (2 hours). RESULTS: A total of 3,007 HFCs (1,305 mucous membrane contacts and 1,702 non-mucous membrane contacts) were observed for 60 person-hours. The median CF (person/2 hr) of the mucous membranes (eye; 4.0, nose; 15.5, mouth; 16.5) was 39.5/person and the median total CD was 177.0 sec/person. The median CE (frequency-duration/sec/person) was 5,795.0 (mouth: 1,356.0, nose: 600.0, eye: 57.5). CONCLUSIONS: This study showed that the mouth and nose were the most frequent exposure sites for HFC. Avoiding habitual HFC, awareness of self-inoculation by HFC, and vigorous hand hygiene should be strengthened to prevent the spread of infections.

        Development of a Social Contact Survey Instrument Relevant to the Spread of Infectious Disease and Its Application in a Pilot Study Among Korean Adults

        Objectives: This study aimed to develop a valid social contact survey instrument and to verify its feasibility for use among Korean adults. Methods: The Delphi technique was used to develop an instrument to assess social contacts, which was then applied in a cross-sectional pilot study. A panel of 15 medical professionals reviewed the feasibility and validity of each item. The minimum content validity ratio was 0.49. Thirty participants used the developed measure to record contacts during a 24-hour period. Results: After a systematic review, the survey instrument (parts I and II) was developed. Part I assessed social contact patterns over a 24-hour period, and part II assessed perceptions of contacts in daily life and preventive behaviors (hand hygiene and coughing etiquette). High validity and feasibility were found. In the pilot study, the 30 participants had a combined total of 198 contacts (mean, 6.6 daily contacts per person). The participants' age (p=0.012), occupation (p<0.001), household size (p<0.001), education (p<0.001), personal income (p=0.003), and household income (p<0.001) were significantly associated with the number of contacts. Contacts at home, of long duration, and of daily frequency were relatively likely to be physical. Assortative mixing was observed between individuals in their 20s and 50s. Contact type differed by location, duration, and frequency (p<0.001). Conclusions: The developed social contact survey instrument demonstrated high validity and feasibility, suggesting that it is viable for implementation.

      • 교육실습 지원 온라인 플랫폼 관련 요구에 대한 사례 연구 : 교육실습 지도교사 의견을 중심으로

        본 연구는 교원 양성을 위한 교육실습 지원 온라인 시스템을 설계하기 위한 기초 조사이다. 본 연구의 목적은 온라인 플랫폼을 사용하게 될 현직교사가 생각하는 교육실습 지원 온라인 플랫폼의 의미와 교육실습 플랫폼에 대해 요구하는 바를 알아보는 것이다. 연구의 목적과 취지에 따라 연구자와 일대일 면담을 실시하였으며, 참여한 대상자는 유아교사 2명, 초등교사 2명, 중등교사 3명 모두 7명이다. 면담은 2019년 11월부터 2020년 3월까지, 일대일 면담으로, 각각 1회씩 진행되었다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 교육실습 지원 온라인 플랫폼의 의미와 관련하여, 본 연구에 참여한 교육실습 지도교사들은 온라인 플랫폼이 현장 교육실습의 업무를 경감해 주는 지원시스템이며, 실습생이 대학교에서 배운 교육이론과 실제가 잘 연결되도록 돕는 지원체제로 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 플랫폼 시스템에 대한 지도교사의 요구는 크게 두 가지였는데, 한 가지는 교육실습 지원 온라인 플랫폼이 교육실습록, 수업지도안 등 각종 문서 작성과 검토 과정에서 유용하게 활용될 수 있어야 한다는 것이고, 다른 한 가지는 교육실습 지원 온라인 플랫폼은 교직 문화를 이해하기 위한 사전 준비 및 가이드를 제공함으로써 교사로서의 태도와 품성을 함양하는 매개적 역할을 할 수 있어야 한다는 것이었다. This study is a basic research for designing teaching practicum support online system for teacher training. The primary purpose of this study is to identify the meaning that the present instructors who will use online platform gives to the teaching practicum support online system and what they demand for the teaching practicum platform. According to the purpose and intent of this study, one-on-one interview with the researcher was conducted and the subjects who participated included 2 infant teachers, 2 elementary teachers, and 3 middle school teachers: 7 in all. The interview was conducted from Nov. 2019 till Mar. 2020, in one-on-one interview method, and once for each. As a result of the study, first, relating to the meaning of the online platform supporting educational practice, the teachers who participated in this study recognized the online platform as a support system to reduce the work of on-site teaching practicum, and as a support system to help the pre-service teachers connect well with the educational theory and educational practice. Second, the teacher s demand for the platform system has been largely twofold: one is that the online platform should be useful in the process of writing and reviewing various documents including teaching practicum journal training practice books and teaching guides; the other is that the online platform should serve as a medium for cultivating attitudes and character as teachers by providing advance preparation and guidance for understanding teaching culture.

        Case Report : Breakage of a thoracic epidural catheter during its removal

        The breakage of an epidural catheter is a rare complication during the removal of a thoracic epidural catheter. There are many causes to breakage of an epidural catheter, such as the characteristics of the catheter itself, patient`s factors (anatomy, position during insertion and removal of the catheter, and the BMI), and the difficulty of the procedure. Surgical removal is considered if there is a possibility that the retained catheter might cause neurological problems. We experienced a breakage of an epidural catheter during its removal, which led to surgical intervention. To prevent the catheter breakage during its removal, the catheter should be withdrawn without excessive tension. In addition, an understanding of the patient`s anatomy is essential.
