Investigation of Li Dopant as a Sintering Aid for ScSZ Electrolyte for IT-SOFC

        Masashi Mori,Yu Liu,Shuhua Ma,Shin-ichi Hashimoto,Katsuhito Takei 한국세라믹학회 2008 한국세라믹학회지 Vol.45 No.12

In this study, the effects of small amounts (≤3 mol%) of Li doping on the sintering characteristics and electrochemical performance of (ZrO2)0.89(ScO1.5)0.1(CeO2)0.01 (ScSZ) were investigated. By adding 3 mol% lithium, the densification temperature of ScSZ was reduced from the conventional temperature of 1400oC to 1200oC. It was found that Li doping also led to changes in the Zr:Sc ratio at the grain boundaries. Correspondingly, the dispersion of lithium zirconia at the grain boundaries accelerated the growth of ScSZ grains and increased the grain boundary resistance at temperatures below 450oC. At elevated temperatures of 450~750oC, the electrical conductivity of the ScSZ after doping remained almost unchanged under air and reducing atmospheres. These results suggest that the addition of lithium is promising for use in low temperature co-firing of ScSZ-based components for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells. • Coloration of Textile Care Symbols Applying Color Images

        Masashi Kobayashi,Yuko Mori,Ikuko Okamoto 한국색채학회 2017 AIC 2017 Jeju Vol.2017 No.10

In this article, a proposal for coloration of textile care symbols is presented for rising the intelligibility of the meaning of symbols and rousing consumers’ interest in the care symbols and care labels. First, the questionnaire survey of the image of JIS safety colors (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, White, and Black) was performed by using the ten adjective pairs, necessary to express the meaning of the symbols such as warm - cool, strong (action) - mild (action), with five-point scale. With reference to the results, the various colored symbols were designed by colorization of the additional or number parts of symbols, indicating temperature (numbers in washing symbols), mechanical action (under bar with washing symbols) and so on. Additionally, the symbols were indicated on the computer display as stimulus and evaluated by the method of ranking test. It was confirmed that there are meaning of the symbols easily expressed by color such as temperature, but difficultly expressed such as mildness of mechanical or chemical action.

Advanced surface processing of NLO borate crystals for UV generation

Mori, Yusuke,Kamimur, Tomosumi,Yoshimura, Masashi,Sasaki, Takatomo The Korea Association of Crystal Growth 1999 韓國結晶成長學會誌 Vol.9 No.5

Recent advances in NLO Borate Crystals for UV Generation are reviewed with the particular emphasis on the technique to improve the life time of UV optics. The laser-damage resistance of CLBO and fused silica surfaces was successfully improved after removing polishing compound by ion beam etching. The polishing compound embedded in the CLBO and fused silica surfaces were to a depth of less than 100nm. We were able to remove polishing compound without degrading the surface condition when the applied ion beam voltage was less than 200 V. The laser-induced surface damage threshold of CLBO was improved up to 15J/$\textrm{cm}^2$(wavelength: 355 nm, pulse width: 0.85 ns)as compared with that of the as-polished surface (11 J/$\textrm{cm}^2$). The laser-induced surface damage of fused silica also increased from 7.5J/$\textrm{cm}^2$ to 15J/$\textrm{cm}^2$. For the irradiation of a 266 nm high-intensity and high-repetition laser light, the surface lifetime of CLBO and fused silica could be more doubled compared with that of the as-polished surface.

Clinical Efficacy of Endocytoscopy for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy

        Masashi Misawa,Shin-ei Kudo,Yuki Takashina,Yoshika Akimoto,Yasuharu Maeda,Yuichi Mori,Toyoki Kudo,Kunihiko Wakamura,Hideyuki Miyachi,Fumio Ishida,Haruhiro Inoue 대한소화기내시경학회 2021 Clinical Endoscopy Vol.54 No.4

Endocytoscopy (EC) is a contact-type optical endoscope that allows in vivo cellular observation during gastrointestinal endoscopyand is now commercially available not only in Japan but also in Asian, European Union, and Middle Eastern countries. EC helpsconduct a highly accurate pathological prediction without biopsy. Initially, EC was reported to be effective for esophageal diseases. Subsequently, its efficacy for stomach and colorectal diseases has been reported. In this narrative review, we searched for clinicalstudies that investigated the efficacy of EC. EC seems to accurately diagnose gastrointestinal diseases without biopsy. Most of thestudies aimed to clarify the relationship between endocytoscopic findings of gastrointestinal neoplasia and pathological diagnosis. Some studies have investigated non-epithelial lesions or diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease or infectious diseases. However, there are few high-level pieces of evidence, such as randomized trials; thus, further studies are needed.

Navigated Pin-Point Approach to Osteoid Osteoma Adjacent to the Facet Joint of Spine

        Kanji Mori,Masashi Neo,Mitsuru Takemoto,Kazuya Nishizawa,Shinji Imai 대한척추외과학회 2016 Asian Spine Journal Vol.10 No.1

Osteoid osteoma (OO) is a benign osteoblastic tumor. Its curative treatment is complete removal of the nidus, where intraoperative localization of the nidus governs clinical results. However, treatment can be difficult since the lesion is often invisible over the bony surface. Accordingly, establishment of an ideal less invasive surgical strategy for spinal OO remains yet unsettled. We illustrate the efficacy of a computed tomography (CT)-based navigation system in excising OO located adjacent to the facet joint of spine. In our 2 cases, complete and pin-point removal of the nidus located close to the facet joint was successfully achieved, without excessive removal of the bone potentially leading to spinal instability and possible damage of nearby neurovascular structures. We advocate a less invasive approach to spinal OO, particularly in an environment with an available CT-based navigation system.

Usefulness of Colored 3D Imaging of Respiratory Impedance in Asthma

        Toshihiro Shirai,Kazutaka Mori,Masashi Mikamo,Yuichiro Shishido,Takefumi Akita,Satoru Morita,Kazuhiro Asada,Masato Fujii,Takafumi Suda,Kingo Chida 대한천식알레르기학회 2013 Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Research Vol.5 No.5

Purpose: Recently, the clinical application of the forced oscillation technique (FOT) has progressed with the spread of commercially available FOT devices, including the impulse oscillation system and MostGraph. We investigated the usefulness of color 3D imaging of respiratory impedance in asthma using MostGraph. Methods: Whole-breath and within-breath respiratory system resistance (Rrs) and reactance (Xrs) were measured in 78 patients with asthma. Color 3D images were classified into three patterns: the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)-like pattern (high values of Rrs and Xrs with a marked respiratory cycle and frequency dependence), the asthma pattern (moderately high Rrs over the entire frequency and a respiratory cycle with slight Xrs changes), and a normal-like pattern (low Rrs and Xrs with few within-breath changes). The classification was performed by three researchers, who were unaware of the clinical information, and the clinical characteristics were compared among the three groups. Results: Color 3D imaging provided a COPD-like pattern in 25 patients, an asthma pattern in 39 patients, and a normal-like pattern in 14 patients. Patients with the COPD-like pattern were predominantly female with a higher body mass index, lower forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1) and forced vital capacity (FVC), and higher Rrs and Xrs values (whole-breath and within-breath variation). Those with the normal pattern had higher FEV1 and FVC, and a lower single-breath nitrogen washout slope. There were no differences in asthma control or exhaled nitric oxide levels among the three groups. Conclusions: These results suggest that color 3D imaging of respiratory impedance may show asthma phenotypes.

Nanocomposite Ni-CGO Synthesized by the Citric Method as a Substrate for Thin-film IT-SOFC

        Wang, Zhenwei,Liu, Yu,Hashimoto, Shin-ichi,Mori, Masashi The Korean Ceramic Society 2008 한국세라믹학회지 Vol.45 No.12

Ni-ceria cermets have been extensively investigated as candidates for the anode in intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells. We have used the citric method to synthesize nanocomposite powders consisting of NiO (Ni metal content: $40{\sim}60%$ by volume) highly dispersed in $Ce_{0.9}Gd_{0.1}O_{1.95}$ (CGO). The microstructure characteristics and sintering behaviors of the nanocomposites were investigated. No impurity phases were observed and the shrinkage of these substrates matched well with that of a CGO electrolyte with a specific surface area of $11\;m^2/g$. Densification of the CGO electrolyte layer to $<5\;{\mu}m$ thickness was achieved by co-firing the laminated electrolyte with the porous NiO-CGO substrate at $1400^{\circ}C$ for 6 h.
