        Algal bioassay 에 의한 조류생장 제한영양염류 결정

        Determination of Limiting Nutrient for Algal Growth by Algal Bioassay. Oh, Hee-Mock, Seog June Lee, Seong-Bin Kim, Mi- Kyung Park, Byung-Dae Yoon and Do-Han Kim (Environmental Microbiology Research Unit, Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Taejon 305-333, Korea and Water Resources Research Institute, Korea Water Resources Corporation, Taejon 305-390, Korea) Water quaiity and algal growth potential (AGP) using Microcystis aeruginosa were investigated from April to September 1997 in Daechung Reservoir. Secchi disk transparency was 1.1 m in August. Chlorophyll-a concentrations were higher than 10㎍/l at all samples. Total phosphorus concentration was in a range of 0.020∼0.027mg/l which is at the approximate value of 0.03 mg/l, the general critical level of eutrophication. These results indicate that Daechung Reservoir is in an eutrophic state except some temporary times and restricted sites. Phosphorus uptake rate of M. aeruginosa was higher in the water from the epilimnion than in the hypolimnion and also higher under light condition than under dark condition. Therefore, phosphorus uptake rate appears to depend on cellular phosphorous content and light condition, a meaning of endergonic process. Phosphorus was the most frequently limiting nutrient: phosphorus was limiting algal gowth in April and May, nitrogen, phosphorus and trace elements were the limiting factors for algae in August, and trace elements in September. If a fast growing alga, M, aeruginosa, is used as a test organism for assaying AGP, in vivo fluorescence instead of dry weight can be measured for algal biomass and incubation period can be reduced from traditional 14 days to 7 days.

        In 2019, the daily generation of food waste in Korea was 14,314 tons, which is a steady increase compared to the past. To efficiently use food waste as an effective resource, composting and feeding are carried out. In Korea, attention is gradually focused on a sustainable resource circulation society. Compost made of food waste has problems with foreign substances, heavy metals, and salt content, and solid fuelization research is being actively conducted to compensate for this. In this study, infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR), organic content measurement(TGA), and chemical composition were measured to compare the fuel characteristics with wood pellets, which are major solid fuels, in order to examine the physical and chemical properties of food waste compost.

        This paper proposes a new induction heating system composed of a thyristor PWM rectifier with a resonant commutation circuit. The operation of proposed system was first analyzed by a theoretical approach with equivalent circuits. And its verification was performed by computer simulations with EMTP. The proposed system can provide a solution for the power factor problem of the existing high-power induction heating system, which uses the line-commutated thyristor bridge in rectifier side.

        자매에서 발생한 중증 마이코플라즈마 폐렴에서 스테로이드 치료

        Numerous evidences support the pathogenesis that M. pneumonias pneumonia is associated with cell-mediat-ed immune reaction. We report 2 cases of severe M. pneumoniae pneumonia in previously healthy sisters, who were both admitted during an epidemic of M. pneumoniae pneumonia. The elder sister, who was 16 years old, was admitted with M. pneumoniae pneumonia. She showed no response to treatment with clarithroycin and levo-floxacin, and eventually progressed to severe ARDS, requiring mechanical ventilation. After treatment with hydrocortisone (200 mg/day), there were rapid improvements in clinical manifestations and chest radiographic findings. The younger sister, who was 14 years old, was admitted 10 days later, Presenting with fever but no pneumonic lesions on chest radiograph. Just like her sister, the infection showed no response to clarithromycin. Fever persisted and pneumonic consolidation with mild pleural effusion was noticed in the left lower lobe on the 5th hospital-day. After treatment with oral prednisolone (1 mg/kg), she showed rapid defervescence and on the 8th hospital day, no pneumonic lesions were detectable on chest radiograph. Given the fact that the pathogenesis of pneumonia and extrapulmonary manifestations in M. pneumoniae infection is immune-mediated, an immuno-suppressive therapy would be validated for selected patients with M. pneumoniae infections.

        현대 베트남 대도시내 농촌 지역의 토지이용과 생산시스템: 하노이 시 싸 다이모의 사례

        This paper sudies changes of land use and production systems in rural Vietnam with reference to the Renovation (Doi Moi) Policy. Most studies of rural Vietnam have dealt with agriculture only. In contrast, this paper deals with handicraft as well. Theoretically, the perspective of this paper, which emphasizes the role of common people in the Renovation Policy, is closely related to the everyday forms of resistance theory. The data for this paper were collected by the authos' in-depth interviews and participant observaions which were conducted twice in Februaru 1993 and February 1994. In addition, official data of the local administration were used. The place the authors did the fieldwork is Xa Dai Mo, a rural part of Greater Hanoi. Xa is often translated into commune or village, which the authors believe fostes misunderstanding. Xa means subcounty, the smallest and lowest echelon of the Vietnamese administration in rural areas. Many scholars have paid attention to the Renovation Policy in order to understand contemporary Vietnamese society. Most of them have tried to understand the Renovation Policy from the governmental-party-policy or from the international evironment-the collaps of the Soviet Union and trasformation of Eastern European Countries. But this paper emphasized the internal factors of the Renovation Policy. According to the authors, the Renovation Policy started informally among the common people long before the official announcement of it in 1986. People's demand for the Renovation Policy began to appear from the beginning of the collectivization of agriculture beyond the Lavor Exchange Group(To Doi Cong). The Labor Exchange Group was composed of about 15 households. The organization was built and developed according to the people's experiences. But the cooperatives of the village level which is quite smaller than that of the Xalevel were built in two or three years after the Labor Exchage Group was introduced. Though farmers were reluctant to collectivize at first, finally they participated as a result of the propagnda and persuasion of the Communist Party. With the end of the anti-American War, the problems of collective farms came to be clearly exposed and the "agrarian crisis" became apparent. Farmers' dissatisfaction with cooperatives was expressed by their answers to the authors' questions too. According to the farmers, eheir living during the collective perod was the worst from French colonialism through the 1990's. There fore, in 1979, the party decided to give farmers more aoutonomy in production. A new system -the Contract System-was introduced. Under the new system, land reamains collectively owned, but farming is done individually on subdivided plots. At the same time, the size of cooperatives has been made larger. Cooperativization at the Xa level began. This experience is in contrast to those of other socialist countries. I other socialist countries, expansion of farmers' aoutonomy has entailed the dismantling of cooperatives. Therefore, the changes in rural Vietnam cannot be understood just from the experieces of other socialist countries or in a unidirectional way. The hadicraft cooperative in the Xa has had different experiences from agricultural cooperatives. It was transformed into a new prganization in 1993, which is quite long after the change of agriculturalcooperative. In transforming the handicraft cooperative, the cooperative members, not the party, took the initiative. All the members came together and discussed problems of the handicraft cooperaive. Finally, they decided to make it smaller and to heavily cut welfare costs. The rationalization for this resulted from debate among the cooperative members, not by the government. In conclusion, this paper criticizes the simplistic understanding about the Renovation Policy which overephasizes the role of the Communist party and other socialist countries' experiences. Instead, this paper emphasizes the role of ordinary people in the Renovation Policy.

      • EGDA 기능성 모노마로 희석된 Epoxy Acrylate의 전자빔 경화 및 코팅

        Electron beam curing of acrylated epoxy resin diluted with mono-functional monomer EGDA has been investigated under circumstances contacted with air and without air. The formulated resin in contact with N2 or covered with film could be cured up to 95% even with low dose of 5kGy and the surface of cured resin became very hard, but cured resin in existence of oxygen and without any additive had a low degree of curing and the surface became sticky due to insufficient curing. Additives such as curing agent P-115 or initiator BPO could increase the degree of curing to more or less one, but these additives could not remove completely surface stickiness. While, at high dose(more than 100kGy), addition of BPO were possible to make the irradiated surface of the resin be non-sticky even in existence of air. Degree of curing of the resin which contained pigment was very high at dose of around 20kGy. Elongation and stress at break on the cured resin with ferric oxide pigment were be higher than with non-ferric oxide pigment. Adhesion and anti-firing of the resin coated on cement block could be excellent.

      • 생쥐 위장관의 Interstitial cells of Cajal(ICC)에 대한 면역조직화학적 연구

        Background and Objectives : Interstitial cells of Cajal(ICC) are the pacemakers in gastrointestinal tract that modulates gastrointestinal motiliey and these cells also transmit neural input from enteric nerves to smooth muscles. Recent work on tissues from patients with motility disorders that suggest that loss or defect in ICC could be related to pathophysiology in human and animal models. Immunolabelling of ICC in intestinal wall is recently developed by using specific marker, anti-c-kit antibody. Immunohistochemistry was done for ICC network in attempt to provide a morphological basis for the mechanism regulating gastrointestinal motility Methods : Cryosection was done, and whole-mount preparations of mouse stomach, gastrointestinal tract were immunolabelled using the anti-c-Kit. Immunolabelled ICC networks were observed under a confocal laser scanning microscopy. Results : According to three dimensional reconstruction study, we found that the c-Kit-positive celluar networks were widely distributed in the gastrointestinal muscle (1) circular muscle layer(IC-IM), (2) myenteric plexus(IC-MY), (3) deep muscular plexus(IC-DMP) in ileum, (4) submucosal plexus(IC-SMP) and longitudinal muscle layer(IC-LM) in colon. Conclusion : The characteristic profiles of ICC celluar networks provide a morphological basis upon the mechanism regulating gastrointestinal motility. Additional studies for the enteric nerves-ICC interaction are need to evaluate the detailed roles of Icc in gastrointestinal tract.
