Background: Cutaneous angioleiomyoma is a rare and benign smooth muscle tumor derived from the walls of blood vessels. Angioleiomyoma is rarely diagnosed preoperatively, but a suspicion and recognition are possible with a good knowledge of angioleiomyoma. In Korea, since a study of 59 cases of angioleiomyoma reported in 2000, no study of angioleiomyoma has been conducted. Objectives: To analyze the clinical and histopathological types of angioleiomyoma Methods: A data were collected from twenty five cases of angioleiomyoma in the dermatology of Hallym University Medical Center. A clinical analysis was conducted through a chart and photographic review. All cases were histologically examed, and then were classified into four types: solid, cavernous, venous, and mixed. Results: The number of males and females was 11, and 14. The mean age at diagnosis was 41.2 years, and the mean duration of disease was 4.52 years. Lower extremity (68%) was the most common site in both males and females, and the size of tumors didn’t exceed over 2 cm. About half of patients (52%) had a pain or tenderness with the tumor. Histopathologically, the tumors showed solid type (14 cases), mixed type (6 cases), cavernous type (3 cases), and venous type (2 cases) Conclusion: This results would be helpful to understand the characters of angioleiomyoma

Background: Psoriasis is chronic immune-mediated inflammatory disorder, affecting nearly 1.5~3% of the world``s population. A number of literatures have suggested that frequency of cardiovascular diseases increases in the patients with psoriasis. Objectives: We tried to assess awareness of increased cardiovascular disease and risk factors among patients with psoriasis and dermatologists, and assess screening behavior for cardiovascular risk factors in patients with psoriasis. Methods: We conducted 52 questionnaires to out-patients who had visited Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital and treated for psoriasis between January 1, 2013, and March 31,2014. We also distributed 100 questionnaires to dermatologists who practice in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do by e-mail. Results: Among 52 patients, 14(27%) answered that they knew increased risk of cardiovascular disease in psoriasis. Among 50 dermatologists, 36(72%) were aware that patients with psoriasis have greater cardiovascular risk than normal population. However, the number of dermatologists who screened for cardiovascular risk factors in patients with psoriasis was far less.5 of 36 screened for dyslipidemia, 17 for obesity, 11 for hypertension and 10 for diabets. Conclusion: We found that less than half of all dermatologists screened for cardiovascular risk factors in patients with psoriasis. Educating not only patients with psoriasis, but also dermatologists regarding increased cardiovascular risk in psoriasis is needed for leading to improved patient outcomes.

Background: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that is associated with an increased cardiovascular risk profile. The relationship between PASI and cardiovascular risk factor has not been evaluated in Korean psoriasis patients yet. Objectives: To evaluate the relationship between PASI and cardiovascular risk factors in Korean patients Methods: Physical examination, serum lipid profile analysis, and the medical history of the psoriasis patients were reviewed. The severity of psoriasis was assessed using Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI) scores: mild, <10; moderate to severe, >=10. A total of 96 patients with plaque type psoriasis were included. Results: Significant differences of prevalence of cardiovascular risk factor and the level of lipid profile according to the severity of the psoriasis were not discovered except triglyceride level. Conclusion: Our results suggest that there is no close correlation between the severity of psoriasis and cardiovascular risk factor in Korean psoriasis patients.
