Substrate and pretreatment dependence of Cu nucleation by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition

The nucleation of copper (Cu) with (hfac)Cu(VTMS) organometallic precursor is investigated for Si, SiO2, TiN, and W2Nsubstrates. As the deposition temperature is increased, the dominant growth mechanism is observed to change from the nucleationof Cu particles to the clustering of Cu nuclei around 180.C independent of the employed substrates. It is also observed that the2 sub-strates. Dimethyldichlorosilane treatment is found to passivate the surface of TiN substrate, contrary to the generally acceptedbelief, when the TiN substrate is cleaned by H2O2 solution before the treatment.. 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. Objective : To report cases of patients with Parkinson's syndrome. Design : Case-series Patients and methods : 35 of patients with Parkinson's syndrome who visited Department of Cardiovascular and Neurologic Diseases of Kyunghee Oriental Medical Center were treated by acupuncture and herbal medicine from May until December 2007. 35 patients were participated in this study. 21 patients were dropped out during the trial, and we evaluated symptom progress of 14 patients by using several questionnaires such as Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale(UPDRS), modified Hoehn & Yahr stage (H&Y stage) and Schwab & England ADL scale(S&E ADL scale). Results : The whole group consists of 14 male patients and 21 female patients. Mean±SD age range is 64.5±8.4. There were no significant differences of the demographic and clinical characteristics between the case group and drop-out group. The mean±SD medical treatment period of the Case group were 8.4±6.3weeks, the mean±SD of the total score in first medical treatment UPDRS section 1~3 were 29.6±11.0, the mean±SD of the final score were 27.1±12.6, all of which showed significant improvement(p=0.007). There were no significant changes on the H&Y stage and S&E ADL scale. Conclusion : Patients with Parkinson's syndrome who visited Department of Cardiovascular and Neurologic diseases of Kyunghee Oriental Medical Center had a tendency of showing improvement in clinical symptoms.

망간의 신경독성은 19세기 초 이래 널리 알려져 왔다. 고전적 망간중독은 파킨스증후 군을 유발하나 그 임상적 양상이 파킨슨병과는 명확하게 구별된다는 점이 인정되고 있다. 그러나 최근 들어 망간 노출 농도가 낮아지는 반면 노출인구는 증가하면서 저농도 노출에 의한 신경장해의 범위에 대해서 논란이 있어왔다. 특히 인구 노령화에 따른 각종 신경퇴행성 질환과는 구별도 필요하게 되었다. 저자들은 최근까지 보고된 직업적, 비직업적 망간 노출인구에서의 건강장해에 대한 임상적, 역학적 연구들을 비교 분석하여 망간 노출에 따른 신경장해를 다음과 같은 5가지 범주로 구분하였는데, 이들은 만성 망간중독, 파킨슨병, 추체외로증후군, 임상전 단계 및 변형증후군 등이다. 이와 같은 임상적 구분은 망간 독성의 병태생리를 이해하는데 도움을 줄뿐 아니라 직업적 및 비직업적 망간노출을 평가하는데도 유용한 도구로 사용될 수 있을 것이다. Neurotoxicity of manganese is known since the report of manganism in early 19th century. However, there are controversies on the range of the clinical manifestation of manganese exposure, especially after the introduction of magnetic resonance imaging on the exposure assessment of manganese exposure. The authors categorized various clinical syndromes of neurologic disorders, which are suggested to be related to occupational or non-occupational manganese exposure, into five stages; chronic manganism, Parkinson's disease, extrapyramidal syndrome, subclinical stage, and variant cases. This categorization will be useful in understanding the pathophysiology of the manganese toxicity and could be utilized in assessment of occupational and non-occupational manganese exposure.

<P>We present a simple size reduction technique for fabricating 400 nm zinc oxide (ZnO) architectures using a silicon master containing only microscale architectures. In this approach, the overall fabrication, from the master to the molds and the final ZnO architectures, features cost-effective UV photolithography, instead of electron beam lithography or deep-UV photolithography. A photosensitive Zn-containing sol–gel precursor was used to imprint architectures by direct UV-assisted nanoimprint lithography (UV-NIL). The resulting Zn-containing architectures were then converted to ZnO architectures with reduced feature sizes by thermal annealing at 400 °C for 1 h. The imprinted and annealed ZnO architectures were also used as new masters for the size reduction technique. ZnO pillars of 400 nm diameter were obtained from a silicon master with pillars of 1000 nm diameter by simply repeating the size reduction technique. The photosensitivity and contrast of the Zn-containing precursor were measured as 6.5 J cm<SUP>−2</SUP> and 16.5, respectively. Interesting complex ZnO patterns, with both microscale pillars and nanoscale holes, were demonstrated by the combination of dose-controlled UV exposure and a two-step UV-NIL.</P>
