The purpose of this paper is to investigate experimentally the strength and deformation of T-joints to evaluate the structural behavior of truss connection consisted in square hollow steel section with plate. There are the branch plate type in T-joint shapes. Principal parameters are the ratio of the chord width to thickness(2ν=31.3, 22.2, 16.7) and the ratio of branch plate thickness to chord width(βp=0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.75, 0.85). The most important result obtained from this experiment is as follows; The ultimate strength of T-joints increase proportionally as the 2ν ratio decrease, and the βp ratio increase. The others, experimental results are summarized for ultimate strength to displacement, initial stiffness and failure mode of each T-joints.

This study aims to validate predictive capabilities of FDS for the pool fire in three rooms connected to ventilation network. The three rooms in real scale fire test facility are configured to be similar to that of nuclear power plant in size, ventilation condition, construction material, etc. Basically three rooms are confined to the other area except two open doors and two ventilation duct in each room. The real scale fire test was conducted with these conditions and the predictive capabilities of FDS will be validated by comparing FDS simulation results with experimental data from the temperature, heat flux, and concentration point of view. This study concludes that temperature from FDS is about 25 % lower deviation from the experiment, and heat flux from FDS is about 5% deviation.
Simultaneous Surgery on Jejunum perforation with Pelvic Ring Fracture: A Case Report

Patients with pelvic bone fractures with gastrointestinal perforations are reported in 4.4% of the cases and in very rare cases jejunum (0.15) is involved. However, intestinal perforations are often undiagnosed on the first examination before peritonitis is evident. We are presenting a report where a patient with anteroposterior compression injury, who was expected to undergo an internal fixation procedure, did not show any jejunum perforations on abdominal CT or other physical exams but was found on abdominal CT 1 week after right before surgery, therefore excision and anastomosis surgery, pelvic open reduction and internal fixation was simultaneously done with favorable results. In our case, we present a 61 year old male patient with liver trauma, adhesion at the abdominal cavity, with a past history of gallbladder excision, but without abdominal pain, fever, or infection symptoms. Therefore, this was a case that was difficult to initially diagnose the patient with jejunum perforation and peritonitis. The diagnosis was further supported during laparotomy when peritonitis around the area of intestinal perforation was observed. Generally, it is understood that pelvic bone fracture surgery is not immediately done on patients with peritonitis. However, this kind of patient who had peritonitis with intestinal adhesion and other complications could undergo surgery immediately as infection or other related symptoms did not coexist and the patient was rather stable, and as a result the treatment was successful. 접합부 형상변화에 따른 경ㄷ-형강 보의 거동에 관한 연구

The object of this paper is to evaluate on behavior the experimentally of beam in a welded connections for unit modular steel frame with the hollow structural steel section to light steel section. The connections carried out test on the connection shapes bracket-type and diaphragm-type to consideration which the connections for unit modular steel frame was capacity, deformation and failure mode. Test of results, the connections strength decided to beam of the lateral buckling strength in light steel section regardless of connection shapes and connection failure. The strength & stiffness for connection increase proportionally as the light steel section beam section sizes, and the more bracket-type than diaphragm-type as connection shapes. The results from theory of lateral buckling are compared to the experimental results. The ratio of experimental results to theory value is 0.84~1.00 in the case of bracket-type and diaphragm-type of 0.83, indicating an accurate and safe estimation.

Background: Irreversible electroporation (IRE) is a promising novel technique for the ablation of tumors. IRE has an advantage over other ablation technique in its mechanism to remove undesired cells by affecting the cell membrane without thermally destructing blood vessels, nerves and the surrounding tissues. This therapeutic modality has been considered to apply to Barrett`s dysplasia or epithelial neoplasm of upper gastrointestinal tract instead of previous radiofrequency ablation. Our purpose was to study effectiveness of IRE according to tissue properties in rat stomach. Methods: The Sprague-Dawley rats were used throughout this study. IRE ablation was applied in upper stomach (squamous cell epithelium) and lower stomach (columnar cell epithelium) with same energy parameters. The energy delivered for each ablation was 50/100 pulses of 1KV/cm ~ 3KV/cm. And we used DNA microarrays to measure the expression levels of large numbers of genes in rat stomach according to different electrical energy. And we measured several apoptotic gene expression using real time RT-PCR. Results: All animals survived for their designated times. H-E staining showed extensive cell death area at 10 hours after IRE ablation in upper (squamous cell epithelium) and lower (columnar cell epithelium) gastric tissue. We confi rmed apoptotic cell death by Tunnel assay. The number of signifi cantly up-regulated apoptotic genes was higher in 2KV, 100 pulse and 10hr than that of other electrical energy groups. The signifi cantly up-regulated genes related to apoptosis after IRE ablation in all IRE setting were s100a8/9, Ccl2, Timp1. Aif1, Lcn2, hspb1 genes. Conclusions: This study showed that IRE ablated stomach tissue through cellular apoptosis. This study suggests the potentiality of IRE application in the treatment of not only gastric neoplasm but also esophageal neoplasm including dysplasia of Barrett`s esophagus without metastasis.
Dual Bias Modulator for Envelope Tracking and Average Power Tracking Modes for CMOS Power Amplifier

This paper presents a dual-mode bias modulator (BM) for complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) power amplifiers (PAs). The BM includes a hybrid buck converter and a normal buck converter for an envelope tracking (ET) mode for high output power and for an average power tracking (APT) mode for low output power, respectively. The dual-mode BM and CMOS PA are designed using a $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS process for the 1.75 GHz band. For the 16-QAM LTE signal with a peak-to-average power ratio of 7.3 dB and a bandwidth of 5 MHz, the PA with the ET mode exhibited a poweradded efficiency (PAE) of 39.2%, an EVM of 4.8%, a gain of 19.0 dB, and an adjacent channel leakage power ratio of -30 dBc at an average output power of 22 dBm, while the stand-alone PA has a PAE of 8% lower at the same condition. The PA with APT mode has a PAE of 21.3%, which is an improvement of 13.4% from that of the stand-alone PA at an output power of 13 dBm.
