In this paper, we consider a digital protection IED(Intelligent Electric Device) for a distributed power system. The IED can measure various elements for protection and communicate with another devices through network. The protection IED is composed of specific function modules: signal process module which converts analog signal from PT and CT handle algorithm to digital one; communication module for connection with another IEDs; input/output module for user-interfaces. A general purpose DSP board with TMS320C2812 is used in the IED. In order to verify the proposed IED, experimental researches with the power system simulator DOBLE has been carried out for a phase earth fault. The results show an under-voltage relaying algorithm has been realized sucessfully in the hardware system.
부하변동이 존재하는 DC 모터의 속도 제어를 위한 외란관측기 설계

This paper considers a speed control problem of DC motor under load variations. In order to reduce the effect of load variation, a disturbance observer has been designed for the given system. With a cheap encoder there exists considerable measurement noise in the velocity feedback and it should be reflected in designing the disturbance observer. The authors have obtained the nominal transfer function of a DC motor and designed a disturbance observer for the control purpose. With the disturbance observer a digital controller has been implemented using a DSP(TMS32OF2812). Some experiments show the enhanced performance of the control system with the proposed method.
GaAs MESFET 저항성 평형혼합기 설계에 관한 연구

In this paper, resistive mixer which uses the channel resistance of a GaAs MESFET to realize a time-varying resistance is designed. Good agreement is verified when the computer simulation results of the theoretical model are compared with the experimental results. At the 9.1㎓ 10 ㏈m LO power, the conversion loss of the 10 ㎓ X-band mixer is approximately 9.8㏈ with the low second and third order intermodulation harmonics of about -20 ㏈m.
Xscale 기반의 Mobile Device를 활용한 모터 제어

Currently mobile devices change rapidly our life and they have considerable influences over many parts of our society. If the mobile device is applied to a control system, the usability of the control system is increased with its convenient accessibility and mobility. This paper realizes a motor control system by using a mobile device. The device uses Intel Xscale PXA-250 in which Widows CE is ported. The device is very popular at the applications of mobile devices. Also we consider its application to a mobile robot such as home service robot.

In addition to accurate position and velocity control, force control is necessary for a successful robot operation. In this paper, we have designed a simple robot gripper using a DC motor. For its force control, a current feedback control law is presented without using additional force sensors. Experimental results prove the effectiveness of the proposed control law. A digital controller is also developed with a TMS320LF2406 processor.

This paper aims to provide a way to improve dynamic stability of biped robots against undesirable disturbances and in a slope. By using an angular velocity sensor and an acceleration sensor on its waist, we can make a medium-sized biped robot walk stably in a slope against impulsive disturbances. In addition, it is possible for the robot to walk stably in an unknown slope. The measured signals from the sensor are used for compensating the reference angles of ankle, knee, and pelvis joints. Some experiments show that the stability of the robot is much enhanced by using cheap sensors and a simple algorithm. This work helps biped robots walk more stably in real environments.

Chloride ions are considered to be the major cause of steel corrosion in concrete structures exposed to seashore environments and also permeation of chloride is controlled by chloride diffusion. Therefore, the study on chloride diffusion of concrete have been done so far by many researchers. In this study, to examine the chloride penetration properties of concrete using fly-ash and blast-furnace slag powder as replacements of cement, it is compared and investigated the replacement ratio of fly-ash and blast-furnace slag powder with each 3 levels. Therefore, it is intended to grasp the chloride penetration properties of concrete including effects of W/B ratio and age, as other mix factors.

A 4-week Repeated Oral Dose Toxicity Study of Plant Sterol Esters in Sprague-Dawley Rats

The present study was conducted to investigate the potential subacute toxicity of plant sterol esters by a 4-week repeated oral dose in Sprague-Dawley rats. The test article was administered once daily by gavage to rats at dose levels of 0, 1000, 3000, and 9000 mg/kg/day for 4 weeks. During the test period, clinical sign, mortality, body weights, food and water consumption, ophthalmoscopy, urinalysis, hematology, serum biochemistry, gross finding, organ weight, and histopathology were evaluated. A reduction in the body weight was observed in females of the 9000 mg/kg group on day 27 after the initiation of treatment, but not in males of the group. There were no treatment-related effects on mortality, clinical sign, food and water consumption, ophthalmoscopy, urinarlysis, hematology, serum biochemistry, necropsy findings, organ weights, and histopathology in any treatment group. Based on these results, it was concluded that the 4-week repeated oral dose of plant sterol esters resulted in suppressed body weight in female rats at a dose level of 9000 mg/kg/day. In the condition of this study, target organ was not observed and the no-observed-adverse-effect level (NOAEL) was considered to be 9000 mg/kg/day for males and 5000 mg/kg/day for females.
State Indicator of Water Quality for Surface Water and Groundwater in Agriculture

Indicators of environmental conditions qualitatively and quantitatively describe the state of the environment and natural resources, and the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) has initiated and suggested AEIs (Agri-Environmental Indicators) to assess trends over time of the effects of agriculture on the environment and the effectiveness and efficiency of agricultural and environmental policy measures since 1990's. This study aims to develop the state indicators of water quality for agricultural water, surface and groundwater, to evaluate the environmental impacts of agricultural activities and policies by qualifying the environmental levels of a nation. Status indicators were calculated according to the agricultural water quality standards of OECD and Korea, and their trends were analyzed over time. Particularly, nitrate ($NO_3{^-}$) status indicators of ground water in 2013 were significantly lower than the ones in 2000. Overall, the water quality indicators of surface water in 2013 were higher than the ones in 2012, except for pH and DO. The groundwater quality indicators in 2013 were lower than those of previous years. The optimal management indicators were calculated to assess agricultural surface water and groundwater quality. The findings of this study indicated that the state indicators could play a significant role to establish policies and procedures for managing and conserving water resources. This study also discussed water pollution caused by agricultural and industrial effluents.
