This paper presents the general form of transfer matrix of the digital Walsh sequency filter using the Walsh transform and the diagonal matrix. The useful model is built according with the general form of transfer matrix. And the characteristic of the filter is considered through the simulation. The filtering characteristic which is obtained from the simulation is satisfactory. It is possible that the filter is realized by means of the software or the hardware.

In this paper, the power spectrum of background EEG is estimated by the Pisarenko Harmonic decomposition based on Least Mean Square. At the power spectral estimation, the stochastic process of background EEg is assumed to consist of the nonharmonic sinusoil and the white noise. The optimal order of this model is the 6-th order when the eigenvalue' fluctuation of autocorrlation of background EEG is considered. The estimation results are compared with the results from the Maximum Entropy Spectral Estimation and the Pisarenko Hamonic Decomposition. From the comparison results, this method is possible to estimate the power spectrum of background EEG.

This paper study on soil properties and earth pressure at the domestic multi layer. Reliable predictions of the movement of earth retaining structures and the ground adjacent to the braced walls in urban excavation are often difficult due to many variable factors. Also, Unpredictable behavior of ground and retaining structure due to variation of the above factors may cause considerable damage to the adjacent structures, and cost many of human lives as a results of retaining wall failure. The earth pressure at the retaining walls was measured at total 13 numbers sites and Peck's empirical earth pressures adapted at the design stage. The geotechnical properties by this research was proposed as a preliminary design guide line in urban excavation where controling ground movement and safety assurance of adjacent structure. The earth pressure of rock masses were found to be 70.14% of Peck's earth pressure and the earth pressure of soil were found to be 44.4% of Peck's earth pressure. This study was carried out to evaluate a methodological aspect for determining the representative values of environmental noise in an area. The results are summarized as follows : (1) There was no significant difference in the average values of noise levels for the samples with 1 second sampling frequency and with 5 second frequency Hence, when noise monitoring is performed in the field, the sampling frequency of 5 second appeared to be reasonable for the determination of representative environmental noise levels. (2) Evaluation of Leq, ?? as an environmental noise indicator revealed environmental noise levels. (3) For obtaining the representative values in an area (ie 300m × 300m) within a standard deviation of 2 dB, at least 10 site seemed to be necessary for the determination of representative values. (4) For a particular area, at least 5 sites were necessary for the determination of the representative values with a standard deviation of 1.5dB or less. There results suggest that more detailed sampling procedures or methodological protocols are required for improving the currently applied environmental testing method in this country.
Resistivity Increase in 6H-SiC Crystal Grown with Simple Modification in PVT Process

<P>6H-SiC single crystal was grown with simple modification in PVT process to investigate the aspect of resistivity change in crystal. The modified process consisted of a new initial step to get rid of impurities in the growth cell before the main growth of SiC crystal. The new step in the modified process was designed to consist of higher temperature than the growth temperature for sublimation of impurities. SiC crystal grown with using 2 times of impurities sublimation process (ISP) step exhibited lower variation of resistivity value on whole wafer than SiC grown using with 1 time. With implementation of new modified step in growth process, SiC single crystal with resistivity value above 10<SUP>3</SUP>Ωcm could be obtained by simple PVT process and conventional low-purity SiC source material.</P>
Effects of Chronic Nicotine Administration on Salivary Gland in Mice: Immunohistochemical Study

Purpose: Chronic nicotine administration induce various effects in whole organs of the body; however, little is known about salivary gland. In the present study, we pursued the links between systemic nicotine and the histomorphological changes of the salivary gland in mice. Methods: Twenty-five C57BL6 mice were allocated into two groups. The control group (n=9) received distilled water only for 8 weeks by gavage. The experimental nicotine group (n=16) was administered nicotine $5{\mu}g/g$ with distilled water. Animals were sacrificed at 8 weeks; then, submandibular glands were excised and processed for histologic evaluation. Volumetric changes in acinar cells were evaluated by H&E staining. The expression of calponin-positive myoepithelial cells and Ki-67-positive proliferating acinar cells were evaluated by immunohistochemistry. Results: The nicotine group showed significantly decreased number of calponin-positive myoepithelial cell process compared with the control group. There were no significant differences in average volume of acinar cell and the number of Ki-67-positive acinar cells between both groups. Conclusions: These findings suggested that chronic nicotine administration may cause decreased function of myoepithelial cells in submandibular glands of mice, and these can partly explain xerostomic conditions in chronic smokers.

A fast and sensitive protein staining method in sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) using both an acidic dye, Coomassie Brilliant Blue R-250 (CBBR) and a basic dye, Neutral Red (NR) is described. It is based on a counter ion-dye staining technique that employs oppositely charged two dyes to form an ion-pair complex. The selective binding of the free dye molecules to proteins in an acidic solution enhances the staining effect of CBBR on protein bands, and also reduces gel background. It is a rapid staining procedure, involving fixing and staining steps with short destaining that are completed with CBBR staining. The stained protein bands can be visualized at the same time of staining.

The present invention relates to a method for detection of DNA using a counter-dye composition containing two dyes of which electric charges are contrary to each other, on polymer gels, and the counter-dye composition for detection of DNA on polymer gels. More specifically. the present invention relates to a method for detection of DNA in a high sensitivity on polymer gels in a rapid, simple and safe manner, comprising the steps of staining the polymer gels with a counter-dye composition containing a cationic dye and an anionic dye and then macroscopically observing the gel without radiation of ultraviolet ray, and the counter-dye composition for detection of DNA on polymer gels.

A background-free, fast protein staining method in polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis using an acidic dye, zincon (ZC) and a basic dye, ethyl violet (EV) is described. It is based on the counterion dye staining technique that employs two oppositely charged dyes to form an ion-pair complex in staining solution. The selective binding of free dye molecules to proteins in acidic solution produces bluish violet-colored bands, It is a rapid and end-point staining procedure, involving only fixing and staining steps that are completed in 1-1.5 h. The detection limit of this method is 8-15 ng of protein that is comparable to the sensitivity of the colloidal Coomassie Brilliant Blue G (CBBG) stain. Due to its sensitivity and speed, this stain may be more practical than any other dye-based stains for routine laboratory purposes.
