The dramatic variations in structure and internal stress in an amorphous silicon carbide film (a-SiC) induced by forming process have been reported extensively. Vapor-depositions of a-SiC film were simulated by molecular dynamics simulation employing the Tersoff potential. To understand effect of substrate temperature that is one of the most important factors involved in the changes in structure and intrinsic stress, the vapor-depositions at various substrate temperatures (500-2500 K) were performed. Then, the MD simulations of cooling to 298 K were carried out. For both cooled and as-deposited a-SiC films, the analyses of structure and internal stress with deposition process parameters entailed the calculation of density, chemical order, and in-plane stress [(σ_(xx)+σ_(yy))/2].
Propylthiouracil에 의한 중증 급성간염 1예

PTU에 의한 간염의 발생은 매우 드물게 발생하는 것으로 알려져 있으나 저자들은 Graves씨 병으로 진단 받고 propylthiouracil 투여를 받고있던 환자에서 중증의 급성 간염이 발생한 1예를 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다. Propylthiouracil is widely used to treat patients with hyperthyroidism. This drug has been associated with severe hepatotoxicity rarely. We presented the case of jaundice and profound liver dysfunction from a 23-year old woman treated with propylthiouracil for hyperthyroidism. Viral, metabolic, and autoimmune liver disease could be excluded and liver biopsy revealed a pattern of acute hepatitis. After discontinuing the drug, there was a progressive resolution of hepatic symptoms and decrease in biochemical data of the liver. Despite propylthiouracil induced hepatitis in rare case, patients receiving propylthiouracil are exposed to develope severe hepatotoxicity. Therefore it might be advisable to monitor level of the transaminase on regular base from patients receiving propylthiouracil.
타이어 설계인자를 고려한 자동차의 조종 및 안정 특성에 관한 연구

As the technique of automobile industry is being advanced, the advancement of performance for vehicle is being required. In order to achieve this purpose, the study on the handling and stability which are produced by moving vehicle is carried out actively. Ability to predict vehicle performance using computer simulation is essential to reducing the development time for tire companies as well as car makers. From the previous research. we showed that handling simulation tool developed for J-turn and lane change maneuvers on ADAMS could be used in predicting the performance difference among tires with different specifications in vehicle mild handling behaviors. Through this study, some meaningful correlations were achieved. Also barriers to direct application of the simulation technique to tire development process and several technical problems that should be resolved were iden tified. In this results, ability to predict vehicle performance using computer simulation is essential to reducing the development time for tire companies as well as car makers.
연속교반탱크반응기에 의한 α-SAN의 용액공중합과 열분해에 관한 연구

Thermal decomposition of the copolymers of α-methylstyrene(α-MS) with Acrylonitrile(AN) were investigated. The copolymers were obtained in a continuous stirred tank reactor(CSTR) using toluene and benzoyl peroxide, as solvent and initiator, respectively, at 75℃. The thermal decomposition followed the first order kinetics. Otherwise the copolymerization in a CSTR followed the second order kinetics. The activation energies of copolymerization and thermal decomposition are 17.9㎉/㏖, 17~58㎉/㏖, respectively, in a CSTR.

To evaluate the effect of 6-month short term antituberculosis chemotherapy with INH, Rifampin, Ethambutol, and Pyrazinamide(2HREZ/4HRE) in the patients with pulmonary and/or extrapulmonary tuberculosis, the authors prescribed 2HREZ/4HRE regimen in 79 tuberculosis patients for 6 months with measuring the sputum staining for AFB, chest X-ray findings, recurrence rates and possible side reactions of the treatment. The result were as follow; 1. Pulmonary Tuberculosis 1) Among the 56 pulmonary tuberculosis patients who had taken 2HREZ/4HRE regimen. 32 patients showed initial positivity in sputum AFB smear stain(57.2%). Negative conversion occurred usually within 2 months after initiation of chemotherapy and the mean period of negative conversion was 1.4 months. 2) Among the 56 pulmonary tuberculosis patients, chest X-ray finding changed in 41 patients (37.21%). From these 41 patients 39 patients showed continuous improvements in chest X-ray finding, though 3 patients showed initial aggravation in spite of continuous medication. The remainder 2 cases aggravated due to the failure of treatment. 3) Treatment failure occurred in 2 patients (3.57%) during the chemotherapy among 56 patients of pulmonary tuberculosis and they were infected with secondary drug-resistant strains of M. tuberculosis. 2. Extrapulmonary tuberculosis. Among 8 patients with tuberculous pleurisy and 15 patients with superficial tuberculous lymphadenitis, there were no evidence of treatment failure after completion of antituberculosis chemotherapy for 6 months with 2HREZ/4HRE regimen. 3. Follow-up study was performed from 6 months to 50 months after completion of antituberculosis chemotherapy and the relapse was not noted in both pulmonary and extrapulmonary tuberculosis patients group during this period. 4. Serum AST/ALT elevated in 9 patients(11.4%) during the treatment and this occurred usually within 3 months after the initiation of antituberculosis chemotherapy. However treatment interruption occurred in 2 patients (2.5%) due to the development of hepatitisone due to drug-induced hapatitis and the other due to type B viral hepatitis. In conclusion, we could find this 2HREZ/4HRE 6-months short-term antituberculosis regimen is effective and could be recommanded as a promising regimen for the treatment of tuberculosis.

In other to study relationship of anxiety and serum cholesterol in general population, we performed the interview survey and screening test for the Ju-am cohort and residents in controlling area at 1995. Among them, 622 people are selected for this analysis. The results were summarized as follows. 1. Anxiety and total serum cholesterol related each other in the group of anxiety. Correlation coefficient was 0.39(p<0.01). 2. According to the result of multiple regression that the total serum cholesterol regarded as the dependent variable, anxiety and total serum cholesterol were related each other positively in the group of anxiety(p<0.05). 3. As the symptoms of anxiety was dichotomized affective and somatic symptom. There was no relationship of 2 symptoms and total serum cholesterol in all subjects, but there was more relationship on the affective symptom than on the somatic symptom in the group of anxiety(p<0.05). The above results show that anxiety and total serum cholesterol related each other significantly in the anxiety group. And the relationship of psychological factors and serum cholesterol could be applied significantly in general population as well as in the special group.
Factorial Experiment for Drum-type Secondary Separating Part of Self-propelled Pepper Harvester

Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the appropriate operating conditions through a factorial experiment for the secondary separating part of the self-propelled pepper harvester. Methods: An experimental setup that simulates the secondary separating part of the self-propelled pepper harvester was organized. Test samples were classified into three types according to the number of peppers on a stem, and 12 sets were prepared for each type. Among the operating conditions of the secondary separating part, the rotational speed of drum B (four levels), radial clearance between drums and cylindrical teeth (three levels), and speed ratio between the three drums (two levels) were set as the test factors, and tests were repeated three times for different levels of each factor. The appropriate operating conditions were determined by analyzing the separation ratio and damage ratio of the peppers collected through the secondary separating part. Results: The test factors changed the overall separation ratio and overall damage ratio in similar trends. In other words, the conditions that caused high overall separation ratios also exhibited high overall damage ratios. Owing to the high overall damage ratio in the condition with the highest overall separation ratio, the operating conditions should be selected considering both ratios. Conclusions: When the condition with more than 60% of overall separation ratio and less than 15% of overall damage ratio was considered as the appropriate operating condition, 70 rpm of the rotational speed of drum B, 5 mm of the radial clearance between drums and cylindrical teeth, and 7:3:5 for the speed ratio of the three drums A, B, and C should be applied for the secondary separating part used in this study. Supplementary studies will be required in the future to find optimal operating conditions through the actual field test under further divided test factors.
