        Heme oxygenase-1 induced by desoxo-narchinol-A attenuated the severity of acute pancreatitis via blockade of neutrophil infiltration

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) has an anti-inflammatory action in acute pancreatitis (AP). However, its mechanism of action and natural compounds/drugs to induce HO-1 in pancreas are not well understood. In this study, we investigated the regulatory mechanisms of HO-1 during AP using desoxo-narchinol-A (DN), the natural compound inducing HO-1 in the pancreas. Female C57/BL6 Mice were intraperitoneally injected with supramaximal concentrations of cerulein (50 μg/kg) hourly for 6 h to induce AP. DMSO or DN was administered intraperitoneally, then mice were sacrificed 6 h after the final cerulein injection. Administration of DN increased pancreatic HO-1 expression through activation of activating protein-1, mediated by mitogen-activated protein kinases. Furthermore, DN treatment reduced the pancreatic weight-to-body weight ratio as well as production of digestive enzymes and pro-inflammatory cytokines. Inhibition of HO-1 by tin protoporphyrin IX abolished the protective effects of DN on pancreatic damage. Additionally, DN treatment inhibited neutrophil infiltration into the pancreas via regulation of chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 2 (CXCL2) by HO-1.         사례보고 : 하수오 복용 후 발생한 재발성 독성 간염 1예

        Toxic hepatitis has been reported as a major cause of acute hepatitis, but its potential induction by herbal remedies and/or health foods is usually neglected. We experienced a case of toxic hepatitis associated with Polygoni multiflori, a Chinese herb commonly known as Ho-Shou-Wu. A 54-year-old woman consumed Ho-Shou-Wu for 1 month, after which she experienced fatigue and overall weakness. A diagnosis of toxic hepatitis was made based on her clinical history, the findings for viral markers and other laboratory data, and ultrasonography. Her condition improved considerably after she stopped taking Ho-Shou-Wu. However, she resumed taking Ho-Shou-Wu immediately after discharge from hospital, which aggravated her symptoms and liver function. She was immediately readmitted and stopped taking Ho-Shou-Wu. Her relapse into hepatitis immediate after resuming consumption of the herb is strongly indicative of the validity of Koch`s postulate in this case.

        근 수 년간 클라이언트/서버 모델에서 발생하는 문제인 서버 병목 현상, DoS (Denial of Service) 공격, 그리고 시스템의 확장성에 따르는 비용 증가 등의 문제를 해결하기 위한 방법으로 P2P (Peer to Peer) 방식이 활발히 연구되고 있다. P2P 방식을 사용하는 모델은 기존의 클라이언트/서버 모델이 적용되었던 여러 분야에 이용되고 있다. 그 중 사용자간 파일 공유하는 분야에 적용된 P2P가 가장 널리 알려져 있다. P2P 파일 공유 네트워크에서 가장 중요한 이슈는 검색의 효율성이다. 검색의 효율성을 위해 제안된 가장 효과적인 접근법으로는 DHT(Distributed Hash Table)을 사용한 검색 기법이다. 이 방식에서 메시지 라우팅은 정보의 검색과 분산을 위해 사용되고, 메시지 라우팅 성능은 라우팅 Hop 수에 의해 결정된다. 그러나 기존의 접근법에서는 라우팅 Hop 수를 감소시키는 능력이 부족하다. 이를 해결하기 위해 본 연구에서는 네트워크 식별자와 노드의 그룹화에 의해 메시지 라우팅 성능을 개선하기 위한, DHT를 사용한 P2P 파일 공유 네트워크를 제안한다. 노드의 그룹화는 메시지 라우팅 Hop을 감소시키고, 한 노드 내에 많은 노드를 나타내어 확장성을 갖고 있다고 할 수 있다. 실험에는 네트워크 시뮬레이터를 사용하여 증가된 확장성과 성능의 개선을 보였다.

      • 二軸 對稱形 不規則 斷面 圖形에 대한 等角寫像 函數의 유도와 非熱源 熱傳導 解析에의 應用

        Generally it is very difficult to solve the equation of heat conduction analytically on regions with irregular configuration. So, these kinds of problems can be solved by numerical methods using computer. The representative numerical methods on heat conduction problem are F.D.M. and F.E.M. But these methods contain several important considerations such as C.P.U time and the number of segments and so on. If we know the mapping functions transforming irregular shapes into unit circle, we can overcome these difficult factors. In this paper, the mapping functions on three kinds of irregular shapes were derived and the Dirichlet problems of two dimensional heat conduction without heat source were solved by using them. Actually these conditions are very interesting in fields of unclear and heat treatment in industry. The derived mapping solutions are very simple forms containing fundamental functions such as Bessel and exponential functions. Specifically, at centers of shapes the value of zero order Bessel function of the 1st kind is 1 so that mapping solutions become only exponential functions. To verify the accuracy of this method, mapping solution on square shape was compared with exact and F.D.M solutions. The result showed that this was a good method to solve several non-analytic problems.

      • 니코틴 패취제의 생물학적 동등성 평가

        The bioequivalence of two nicotine patches was evaluated in 16 normal male volunteers (age 21∼27 yrs) following single transdermal application. Test product was "Nicostop patch" made by Sam Yang Co. and reference product was "Nicotinell TTS patch" made by Korean Searle Ciba-Geigy Co. After nicotine patches were applied onto the inside of the forearm, blood was taken at predetermined time intervals and the nicotine concentration in plasma was determined with a sensitive GC method using NPD detector. AUC and C_max the differences in AUC and C_max between two products were 5.47% and 2.70%, respectively. The powers (1-β) for AUC and C_max were >90% and 88.76%, respectively. Detectable differences(△) and confidence intervals were all less than 20%. All of these parameters met the criteria of KFDA for bioequivalence, indicating that "Nicostop patch" is bioequivalent to "Nicotinell TTS patch".

        대청호 유역 오염부하량 산정

        The water quality and quanity, pollution loading of the upper and direct inflow streams to DaechungHo Watershed were investigated. It was found that and the major pollution sources in DaechungHo Watershed was livestock waste. The pollution loading ratio of Kuemgang main stream, Bocheongcheon and Sookcheon in the items of BOD, TN and TP were obtained 70%, 20% and 10%, respectively. The delivery loading amounts of DaechongHo were surveyed 10,209 kg day^1 for BOD, 26,397 kg day^1 for COD, 26,288 kg day^1 for TN and 306.0 kg day^1 for TP by 2000 year when applied the 1998 and 1999 year without the flowing amount in three years.

        어트랙터 해석을 이용한 AISI 304강 열화 신호의 카오스성 평가

        This study proposes the analysis and evaluation method of time series ultrasonic signal using the chaotic feature extraction for degradation extent. Features extracted from time series data using the chaotic time series signal analyze quantitatively material degradation extent. For this purpose, analysis objective, in this study, is fractal dimension, lyapunov exponent and strange attractor on hyperspace. The lyapunov exponent is a measure of the rate at which nearby trajectories in phase space diverge. Chaotic trajectories have at least one positive lyapunov exponent. The fractal dimension appears as a metric space such as the phase space trajectory of a dynamical system. In experiment, fractal(correlation) dimensions and lyapunov exponents showed values of mean 3.837∼4.211 and 0.054∼0.078 in case of degradation material. The proposed chaotic feature extraction in this study can enhances ultrasonic pattern recognition results from degradation signals.

      • 소아 악골 골절의 치료에 대한 임상적 고찰 및 증례보고

        소아에서는 골 및 주위 조직의 특성상 성인의 경우와는 다른 안면골 골절의 양상을 띄며 따라서 치료 방법도 각 증례에 적합한 방법이 선택되어져야 하므로 진단 및 치료계획 수립시 이러한 특징들이 잘 파악되고 있어야 한다. 저자들은 1996년 5월 1일 1997년 6월 30일까지 동국대학교병원에 내원한 3차례의 소아 악골 골절 환자들을 각각의 증례에 적합한 보존적인 방법으로 치료하여 만족할 만한 결과를 얻었기에 임상적 고찰과 함께 각각의 증례들을 보고하는 바이다. Compared to adult facial bones, growing chidren have their unique characters of bone and its surrounding structures in maxillofacial region. SO, in diagnosing, treatment planning and treating the maxillofacial injuries in children, these characters would be fully considered and adapted carefully in each separate cases. We experienced and successfully managed 3 cases of maxillofacial injuries in children during 1 year period (from May, 1996 to June, 1997) and present these cases with clinical considerations.

      • 칠절봉 신갈나무(Quercus mongolica)림의 군락구조와 토양환경

        칠절봉 신갈나무림의 군락구조와 토양환경과의 관계를 파악하기 위해 식물사회학적 조사와 토양 환경을 분석하였다. 조사지역의 신갈나무림은 신갈나무군락, 철쭉꽃하위군, 큰개별꽃하위군으로 구분되었으며, 철쭉꽃하위군과 큰개별꽃하위군에서의 방형구당 평균출현종수는 각각 30종(24∼46종), 43종(31∼52종) 이었다. 피복지수치에 의한 계층별 우점순위는 교목층에서 신갈나무(6750.0), 아교목층에서 당단풍(2364.0) 관목층에서 철쭉꽃(988.5), 초본층에서 쌀새(1040.5)가 가장 높게 나타났다. 신갈 나무림의 DBH 분포는 2∼10㎝ 범위의 소경목이 전체의 29.7%를 차지하였으며 전체적으로 정규분포를 나타내어 교란 후 재생과정에 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 후계목의 발달로 인한 극상상태로의 천이가 가능할 것으로 조사되었다. 전반적인 토양환경은 두 하위군 간에 뚜렷한 차이가 없었으며, 큰개별꽃하위군이 철쭉꽃하위군에 비하여 다소 양호한 것으로 조사되었다. 환경구배분석에서 까치박달, 물푸레나무, 함박꽃나무 등은 습한 곳에 분포하고 철쭉꽃, 전나무, 국수나무 등은 건조한 곳에 분포하는 것으로 나타났다. A relationship between the community structure composition and soil environmental factors of the Quercus mongolica forest on Mt. Chiljelbong was investigated from June 1996 to August 1997. The Q. mongolica community was classified into two subcommunity of Rhododendron schlippenbachii and Pseudostellaria palibiniana. The 30(24-46) species per quadrat were appeared in R. schlippenbachii subcommunity and 43(31-52)species in P. palibiniana subcommunity. The dominant sequences on each stratum determined by the coverage index showed that Q. mongolica was the most dominant in tree-1 layer with 6750.0, Acer pseudo-sieboldianum in tree-2 layer with 2364.0, R. schlippenbachii in shrub layer with 988.5, and Melica onoei in herb layer with 1040.5 value. The value of diameter breast height(DBH) showed a normal distribution displaying a highest value in the range of 2∼10㎝(29.7%) in Q. mongolica forest and it was investigated being at restoration phase after disturbance. It also was investigated that the succession to climax state would be possible due to growth of successive tree. Overall, which the soil conditions make little difference between two subcommunities, P. palibiniana subcommunity was favorable than those of R. schlippenbachii subcommunity. It was shown that in an environmental gradient analysis, Carpinus cordata, Fraxinus rhynchophylla, and Magnolia sieboldii were distributed in a mesic area, but R. schlippenbachii, Abies holophylla, and Stepanandra incisa in a xeric area.
