        Multi-objective Optimization for Force Design of Tensegrity Structures

        텐세그리티 구조물의 설계를 위한 다목적 최적화 기법이 제시되었다. 구조물의 기하가 먼저 주어지며, 설계변수는 부재력이다. 목적함수는 최대 강성매트릭스에 대한 최저 고유치와 찾고자 하는 목표값으로부터 가장 근접하게 일치하는 부재력이다. 복수의 목적함수 문제가 구속조건을 도입하여 일련의 단일 목적함수 문제로 전환되었다. 본 논문의 타당성을 알아보기 위해 텐세그리티 그리드에 대한 최적해를 구해 보았다. A multi-objective optimization approach is presented for force design of tensegrity structures. The geometry of the structure is given a priori. The design variables are the member forces, and the objective functions are the lowest eigenvalue of the tangent stiffness matrix that is to be maximized, and the deviation of the member forces from the target values that is to be minimized. The multi-objective programming problem is converted to a series of single-objective programming problems by using the constraint approach. A set of Pareto optimal solutions are generated for a tensegrity grid to demonstrate the validity of the proposed method.

        Mechanical and surface properties of HF50S carbon fibers

        To thoroughly analyze the mechanical properties and surface conditions of HF50S carbon fibers, the tensile properties, surface morphology, surface chemical element, surface energy, sizing agent properties, and Naval Ordnance Laboratory (NOL) ring of their composites were characterized. Furthermore, the aforementioned properties were exhaustively compared with those of T1000G carbon fibers. The results showed that the tensile strength, modulus, and elongation of the HF50S carbon fibers were 6638 MPa, 297 GPa, and 2.2%, respectively, thus demonstrating that the mechanical properties of the HF50S carbon fibers were on par with those of the T1000G carbon fibers, in addition, the coefficient of variation (Cv) indices of HF50S carbon fiber were below 3%, indicating good stability. The HF50S carbon fibers have a smooth surface without grooves, which is analogous to that of the T1000G carbon fibers prepared by the typical dry jet–wet spinning process. The main component of the sizing agent of the HF50S carbon fibers is an epoxy resin, which is also used for the preparation of epoxy matrix composites. Because the HF50S carbon fiber surface has greater O and N contents than the T1000G carbon fiber surface, the HF50S carbon fibers have more active functional groups and higher surface activity. The surface energy of the HF50S carbon fibers is 30.13 mJ/m2, which is higher than that of the T1000G carbon fibers (28.42 mJ/m2). Owing to the higher strength and surface activity of the HF50S carbon fibers than those of the T1000G carbon fibers, the strength and strength conversion of NOL ring based on the former are slightly higher than those of that prepared using the latter.

        Cloning and functional analysis of two GmDeg genes in soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.]

        Although light is the ultimate substrate in photosynthesis, strong light can also be harmful and lead to photoinhibition. The DEG proteases play important roles in the degradation of misfolded and damaged proteins. In this study, two photoinhibition-related genes from soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.], GmDeg1 and GmDeg2, were cloned. Bioinformatics analysis indicated that these two proteases both contain a PDZ domain and are serine proteases. The expression levels of GmDeg1 and GmDeg2 increased significantly after 12 h of photooxidation treatment, indicating that GmDeg1 and GmDeg2 might play protective roles under strong light conditions. In in vitro proteolytic degradation assays, recombinant GmDeg1 and GmDeg2 demonstrated biological activities at temperatures ranging from 20°C to 60°C and at pH 5.0 to 8.0. By contrast, the proteases showed no proteolytic effect in the presence of a serine protease inhibitor. Taken together, these results provided strong evidence that GmDeg1 and GmDeg2 are serine proteases that could degrade the model substrate in vitro, indicating that they might degrade damaged D1 protein and other mis-folded proteins in vivo. Furthermore, GmDeg1 and GmDeg2 were transformed into Arabidopsis thaliana to obtain transgenic plants. Leaves from the transgenic and wild-type plants were subjected to strong light conditions in vitro, and the PSII photochemical efficiency (Fv/Fm) was measured. The Fv/Fm of the transgenic plants was significantly higher than that of the wild-type plants at most time points. These results imply that GmDeg1 and GmDeg2 would have similar functions to Arabidopsis AtDeg1, thus accelerating the recovery of PSII photochemical efficiency.

      • Seismic isolation of railway bridges using a self-centering pier

        Earthquakes cause severe damages to bridge structures, and rocking isolation of piers has become a superior option for the seismic protection of bridges during earthquakes. A seismic isolation method with free rocking mode is proposed for railway bridge piers with medium height. Experimental and numerical analysis are conducted to evaluate the seismic performance of the rocking-isolated bridge pier. Shaking table test is carried out with a scaled model by using three strong input earthquake records. The measured data includes displacement, acceleration and time history response of the pier-top and the bending moment of the pier-bottom. Test results show that the expected uplift and rocking of the isolated pier occur under strong earthquakes and the rocking-isolated pier has self-centering capacity. Slight damage appears at the collision surface between pier and base due to pier uplift, while there is no damage in the pier body. The bending moment of pier-bottom is less affected by the spectrum of input ground motions. The two-spring model is provided to simulate the isolated pier with free rocking mode under earthquakes. A seismic response analysis model for the rocking-ioslated pier is established with the assistance of OpenSees platform. The simulated results agree well with the measured results by shaking table test. Therefore, the seismic isolation method with a self-centering pier is worthy of promotion for railway bridges in high seismic risk regions.

        Oncogenic E3 ubiquitin ligase NEDD4 binds to KLF8 and regulates the microRNA-132/NRF2 axis in bladder cancer

        The neuronally expressed developmentally downregulated 4 (NEDD4) gene encodes a ubiquitin ligase that targets the epithelial sodium channel for degradation and has been implicated in tumor growth in various cancers. Hence, in this study, we intended to characterize the functional relevance of the NEDD4-mediated Kruppel-like factor 8/microRNA-132/nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (KLF8/miR-132/NRF2) axis in the development of bladder cancer. NEDD4 and KLF8 were overexpressed in bladder cancer tissues and were associated with poorer patient survival rates. In bladder cancer cells, NEDD4 intensified the stability and transcriptional activity of KLF8 through ubiquitination to augment cell viability and migratory ability. Our investigations revealed that NEDD4 promotes the binding of KLF8 to the miR-132 promoter region and inhibits the expression of miR-132. KLF8 inhibited the expression of miR-132 to augment the viability and migratory ability of bladder cancer cells. Furthermore, miR-132 downregulated the expression of NRF2 to restrict the viability and migratory ability of bladder cancer cells. In addition, in vivo findings verified that NEDD4 regulates the KLF8/miR-132/NRF2 axis by accelerating tumor growth and lung metastasis. In conclusion, this study highlights NEDD4 as a potential therapeutic target against tumor recurrence and metastasis in bladder cancer.

        Evaluation of sex attractants for monitoring of Illiberis ulmivora Graeser (Lepidoptera: Zygaenidae: Procridinae): Height, distance, placement, climatic conditions

        The phytophagous caterpillar Illiberis ulmivora is a serious pest of Ulmus glaucescens Franch (Ulmaceae, Ulmus). In order to test potent sex attractant, field trails of synthetic candidate attractants were conducted in China. In this study, baits with ternary blends, (2S)-butyl (7Z)-dodecenoate, (2S)-butyl (9Z)-tetradecenoate, and (2S)-butyl (5Z)-decenoate (8:4:1 ratio) resulted in a higher number of male moths capture than the rest of the baits that were offered. Traps positioned at a height of 1.2 m attracted more males than those installed at heights of 2.2 m and 3.2 m. The slope aspect, temperature and humility had a significant effect on the trap catches. More catches occurred in traps placed on semi-shady and semi-sunny slopes than those placed on sunny and shady slopes. The number of pheromones in the septa decreased with age. The residual amounts of pheromones in the lures combined with 2,6-di-tert - butyl-p-cresol (BHT) were higher than those in the control. However, there were no differences in the male captures between components and components combined with BHT during the first 8 d. These findings on monitoring and trap positions can be used to predict the occurrence and population dynamics of I. ulmivora, to develop ecological management of I. ulmivora.

        Cross-coupled fuzzy PID control combined with full decoupling compensation method for double cylinder servo control system

        The purpose of this thesis is to develop a double cylinder synchronization control system to address the high precision control requirement of this system. First, the dual-input dual-output coupling mathematical model of the hydraulic press synchronization control system was built using mechanism modelling. Then, the mathematical model of compensating and decoupling links is established by the input and load disturbance decoupling control method based on feedback compensation. Next, a cross-coupled fuzzy PID controller is designed, which is then combined with full decoupling compensation method. Finally, the coupling characteristics of the synchronization control system and the synchronization control performance of the hydraulic cylinders under the cross-coupled fuzzy PID controller combined with the decoupling control algorithm were tested and evaluated in a principle experiment platform. The results indicate that the robustness and the ability to resist interference load are improved under the theory and control strategy outlined in this paper.

        Electrospun Li2MnO3-Modified Li1.2NixCo0.1Mn0.9-xO2 Nanofibers: Synthesis and Enhanced Electrochemical Performance for Lithium-Ion Batteries

        The Li2MnO3-modified Li1.2NixCo0.1Mn0.9-xO2 (x = 0.2, 0.45, 0.7)as cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries have beensuccessfully synthesized by a simple electrospinning process. Thestructure, morphology and electrochemical performances of theresulting products are studied systematically. The as-preparedLi2MnO3-modified Li1.2NixCo0.1Mn0.9-xO2 (x = 0.2, 0.45, 0.7) with adiameter of 200-300 nm has an initial discharge capacity of168.740 mAh·g−1, coulombic efficiency of 99.6% and a reversiblecapacity as high as 139.016 mAh·g−1 after 200 cycles at a currentrate of 0.2 C. The excellent electrochemical performances ofwhich are attributed to the stabilization of Li2MnO3 structure, therole of Li2MnO3 is contribute extra lithium to the reversiblecapacity and to facilitate Li+ transport through the structure.
