        1990년대 강우석 영화의 서울 공간 재현

        이 글은 가장 대중적인 상업영화 감독으로 인정받는 강우석 감독의 1990년대 영화가 서울의 주거공간과 도시공간을 어떻게 재현하고 있는지 논의한다. 분석대상은 서울 올림픽 이후부터 IMF 사태 발생 전까지 제작된 〈행복은 성적순이 아니잖아요〉(1989), 〈나는 날마다 일어선다〉(1990), 〈누가 용의 발톱을 보았는가〉(1991), 〈미스터 맘마〉(1992), 〈투캅스〉(1993), 〈마누라 죽이기〉(1994), 〈투캅스2〉(1996)이며, 이들 작품은 모두 서울을 공간적 배경으로 한다는 공통점이 있다. 이 글이 제기하는 질문은 세 가지이다. 첫째, 1990년대 서울 공간 변화의 특징이 무엇인가? 둘째, 1990년대 강우석의 영화들은 서울의 주거공간과 도시공간을 어떻게 재현하고 있는가? 셋째, 그러한 주거공간과 도시공간의 영화적 재현을 통해 우리가 독해할 수 있는 당대의 가치체계나 욕망, 불안 등은 어떠한 것인가? 1990년대는 경제적 호황과 더불어 중산층이 급부상한 시기였다. 이 시기에 서울은 아파트 단지가 대규모로 개발되었고 교통망이 크게 확충되었다. 이에 따라 도시 분산화가 이루어졌고, 아파트는 서울 중산층의 대표적 주거공간이 되었다. 강우석의 영화는 1991년까지 주로 현실 비판의 영화였으며, 아파트를 부정적 이미지로 재현하였다. 그러나 1992년 이후 아파트는 중산층 인물의 평범하고도 일상적인 주거공간으로 제시되었다. 이는 당시 아파트가 중산층이 소유하기를 원하는 욕망의 대상이 된 현실을 반영한 것이며, 강우석의 영화는 현실과 동경의 어색한 부정교합 형태로 중산층의 욕망을 소비하게 만들었다. 또한, 당시 한국영화가 도시의 화려함에 주목한 반면, 강우석의 영화는 개발이 되지 않았거나 이미 버려진 도시의 주변공간을 주목하는 경향이 있었다. 이것은 발전의 미완을 상기시켜 주었다. 한편, 강우석의 영화는 새로운 도시공간으로서 자동차 실내공간을 제시하였다. 당시 중산층의 사적 욕망과 소비 대상이었던 자동차의 실내공간은 이제 개인의 자유와 프라이버시가 보장된 은밀한 사적 공간으로 재현되었다. This paper discusses how are the residential and urban spaces in Seoul represented in the 1990s movies directed by Kang Woo-suk who was recognized as the most popular commercial film director in Korea. The subjects of the analysis are as follows: 〈행복은 성적순이 아니잖아요〉(1989), 〈나는 날마다 일어선다〉(1990), 〈누가 용의 발톱을 보았는가〉(1991), 〈미스터 맘마〉(1992), 〈투캅스〉(1993), 〈마누라 죽이기〉(1994), 〈투캅스2〉(1996). All of these have a common thing that they have a spatial background in Seoul. There are three questions that this paper poses. First, what are the characteristics of spatial change in Seoul during the 1990s? Second, how did the films of Kang Woo-suk in the 1990s reproduce the residential and urban spaces in Seoul? Third, what are the value systems, desires, and anxieties of those days that we can read through the cinematic representation of residential spaces and urban spaces? The 1990s was a time when the middle class emerged with economic boom. At this time, apartment complexes were developed on a large scale in Seoul and the transportation network was greatly expanded. As a result, urban decentralization has been achieved, and the apartment has become a representative residential space of the middle class in Seoul. Kang Woo-suk ‘s movies were mainly films of criticism of reality until 1991, and they reproduced the apartments as negative images. However, since 1992, apartments have been presented as ordinary and everyday living spaces of middle class people in his movies. This reflects the fact that the apartment was the object of desire to be owned by the middle class at that time, and Kang Woo-suk’s movie made spectators consume the desire of the middle-class in the form of awkward malocclusion of reality and longing. In addition, while Korean films generally paid attention to the splendor of the city, Kang Woo-suk’s films tended to pay attention to the surrounding space of the city that had not been developed or had been abandoned. This reminded us of the incompleteness of development. On the other hand, Kang Woo-suk’s movies presented the interior space of a car as a new urban space. The interior space of a car, the target of private desires and consumptions of middle class, became represented as a private urban space with individual freedom and privacy guaranteed.

        근대 초기 밀매음 여성의 문화 표상-은근자(慇懃子)를 중심으로-

        이 논문은 근대 초기에 은근자 또는 은군자라고 불리며 극장이나 공원, 거리 등에서 호객했던 밀매음 여성에 주목하고자 한다. 이들은 이 시기의 다른 성노동 여성이었던 기생이나 창기에 비해 상대적으로 논외되어 왔다. 성매매는 일부일처제라는 근대적인 가족제도에 위배되는 것이었지만, 많은 사람들의 비판과 반대에도 불구하고 필요악으로 제도화되었다. 그리고 그 결과 제도 밖의 성매매인 밀매음은 공창보다 더 불온하고 위험한 것으로 여겨졌다. 밀매음은 근대 사회가 만든 인위적인 제도의 모순적인 균열 그 자체였다. 성매매는 단순히 합법과 불법으로 구분되지 않으며 나아가 윤리의 문제로 쉽게 재단할 수 없는 것이었다. 그리고 밀매음은 그 자체가 하나의 직업이나 정체성이었다기보다 사실상 여성과 빈곤이 교차하는 지점에서 발생하는 것이었기 때문에 하층민 여성은 언제든지 밀매음 여성이 될 수 있었기 때문이다. 은근자는 신문지상이나 문학, 연극 작품에서 대부분 부정적인 인물 내지는 악인으로 형상화되었다. 그리고 그 안에서 여성 섹슈얼리티는 주로 부도덕의 표상으로서 불온하고 위험한 것으로 재현되었다. 하지만 역설적이게도 이러한 재현을 통해 여성의 섹슈얼리티는 공공적으로 가시화되었으며, 결과적으로 성(적인 것)을 사회적으로 확산시켰다. This thesis examines the women known as Eungeunza (慇懃子, 隱君子). prostitutes who would seduce men in theatres, parks, and streets in the early modern period. This group of women has been relatively unstudied compared to other sex workers of this period, such as Gisaeng (妓生) or Changgi (娼妓). Prostitution violated the modern monogamous family system but was institutionalized as a necessary evil. As a result, illicit prostitution ― so-called Eungeunza ― was regarded as more disturbing and dangerous than regular prostitution. However, Eungenza represented a contradictory crack in the artificial system of modern society. This is because prostitution cannot be simply divided into legal and illegal, furthermore, it cannot be easily judged ethically. The critical discourse and regulation surrounding Eungeunza reproduced a public perception of female sexuality as rebellious and dangerous. This representation of Eungenza′s sexuality eventually permeated society. Even in modern literature and plays, they had been characterized as individuals who freely express their desires and sexuality often lacking morals and social norms. In this regard, Kim Woo-jin’s play ″Lee Young-nyeo(李永女)″ stands out as an exceptional example of naturalism and modern play of naturalism.

        Cleidocranial dysplasia : a case report

        Cleidocranial dysplasia is a rare, autosomal dominant congenital disorder. A 12-year old female visited with chief complaint of unerupted permanent teeth. Also her father showed severe class Ⅲmalocclusion. The extraoral radiography and computed tomography showed delayed closure of the cranial sutures and underdevelopment of maxilla, maxillary sinuses, and frontal sinus. Both clavicles were underdeveloped and thoracic rib cage was bell-shaped. Both zygomatic process appeared as hypoplastic feature. There were many unerupted permanent and supernumerary teeth in the maxilla and mandible. We examined location and number of the unerupted teeth using 3D CT. Finally we could conclude this case was cleidocranial dysplasia based on the clinico-radiologic findings.

        Transcriptome profiling of olive flounder responses under acute and chronic heat stress

        Background The olive founder (Paralichthys olivaceus) is a saltwater fsh, which is valuable to the economy. The olive founder strives to adapt to environmental stressors through physiological, biochemical, and transcriptional responses. The rise in water temperature threatens the growth, development, reproduction, and survival of olive founder. Each organ in the olive founder can diferentially respond to heat stress. Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate organ-specifc transcriptional changes in olive founder tissues during heat stress. Methods In this study, transcriptome dynamics of the gill, liver, and muscle of olive founder to acute or chronic heat stress were investigated. Results Principal component analysis plotting revealed that the transcriptome of each organ is quite separated. K-means clustering, gene ontology, and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis showed the diferential transcriptome responses of each organ to heat stress. Heat stress commonly afects the pathways involved in the correct protein folding, DNA repair, and cell cycle. Conclusion Our results may provide a valuable molecular basis of heat acclimation in fshes.

        Coupling of Creep Deformation Mechanism Equations and Dynamic Recrystallization Kinetics for the Calculation of Processing Maps for Metallic Alloys

        In the present work, kinetic equations of dynamic recrystallization and high-temperature deformation mechanism equationswere coupled to calculate and construct processing maps for metallic alloys in 2D and 3D. The validity of this method wasconfirmed for selected materials (Mg and Fe alloys) by comparing the calculated processing maps with those constructedbased on experimental data. The effect of the initial grain size on the processing maps was predicted. The proposed analysismethod is innovative because the processing map for a material of interest can be calculated as a function of strain rate,temperature and strain under any deformation condition once the dynamic recrystallization kinetics and the creep deformationequations for the material are known. Furthermore, the proposed method can provide information regarding the ratecontrollingcreep deformation mechanism and microstructural evolution at any location on the processing maps.

        Coating with boron nitride on SiC fiber using atomic substitution

        To increase the mechanical properties of ceramic matrix composite, it is important that formation of lubricant layer for crack deflection between matrix and fiber. Therefore, we fabricated uniform boron nitride (BN) lubricant layer using atomic substitution method. Silicon carbide (SiC) fiber surface was modified with amine groups using (3-amonipropyl)triethoxysilane to coat SiC fiber with BN as a solid lubricant. Then, surface was coated with graphene oxide (GO). Boric acid powder was supplied to the GO-coated fibers and the samples were heat-treated at 1200–1400 ℃ under N2 and NH3 atmospheres. An uniform BN layer could be coated on SiC fiber with 10 nm-1.11 μm. Crystallinity and thickness of BN layer could be controlled by reaction temperature. It was also confirmed that crystalline BN formed under process conditions of higher than 1400 ℃.

        Tonsillectomy as prevention and treatment of sleep-disordered breathing: a report of 23 cases

        Background: The paradigm of tonsillectomy has shifted from a treatment of recurrent throat infection to one of multi-discipline management modalities of sleep-disordered breathing (SDB). While tonsillectomy as a treatment for throat problems has been performed almost exclusively by otorhinolaryngologists, tonsillectomy as a part of the armamentarium for the multifactorial, multidisciplinary therapy of sleep-disordered breathing needs a new introduction to those involved in treating SDB patients. This study has its purpose in sharing a series of tonsillectomies performed at the Seoul National University Dental Hospital for the treatment and prevention of SDB in adult patients. Methods: Total of 78 patients underwent tonsillectomy at the Seoul National University Dental Hospital from 1996 to 2015, and 23 of them who were operated by a single surgeon (Prof. Jin-Young Choi) were included in the study. Through retrospective chart review, the purpose of tonsillectomy, concomitant procedures, grade of tonsillar hypertrophy, surgical outcome, and complications were evaluated. Results: Twenty-one patients diagnosed with SDB received multiple surgical procedures (uvulopalatal flap, uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, genioglossus advancement genioplasty, tongue base reduction, etc.) along with tonsillectomy. Two patients received mandibular setback orthognathic surgery with concomitant tonsillectomy in anticipation of postoperative airway compromise. All patients showed improvement in symptoms such as snoring and apneic events during sleep. Conclusions: When only throat infections were considered, tonsillectomy was a procedure rather unfamiliar to oral and maxillofacial surgeons. With a shift of primary indication from recurrent throat infections to SDB and emerging technological and procedural breakthroughs, simpler and safer tonsillectomy has become a major tool in the multidisciplinary treatment modality for SDB.

        Thermoelectric Properties of Cu-doped Bi2−xSbxTe3 Prepared by Encapsulated Melting and Hot Pressing

        P-type Bi2−xSbxTe3:Cum (x = 1.5–1.7 and m = 0.002–0.003) solid solutions were synthesized using encapsulated meltingand were consolidated using hot pressing. The effects of Sb substitution and Cu doping on the charge transport and thermoelectricproperties were examined. The lattice constants decreased with increasing Sb and Cu contents. As the amount ofSb substitution and Cu doping was increased, the electrical conductivity increased, and the Seebeck coefficient decreasedowing to the increase in the carrier concentration. All specimens exhibited degenerate semiconductor characteristics andpositive Hall and Seebeck coefficients, indicating p-type conduction. The increased Sb substitution caused a shift in the onsettemperature of the intrinsic transition and bipolar conduction to higher temperatures. The electronic thermal conductivityincreased with increasing Sb and Cu contents owing to the increase in the carrier concentration, while the lattice thermalconductivity slightly decreased due to alloy scattering. A maximum figure of merit, ZTmax= 1.25, was achieved at 373 Kfor Bi0.4Sb1.6Te3:Cu0.003.

        새로운 Baculoviurs 전이벡터를 이용한 Escherichia coli β-galactosidase 유전자의 발현

        국내에서 분리된 BmNPV를 이용하여 제작된 새로운 전이벡터 pBmKSK1에 외래 유전자로서 E. coli lacZ 유전자를 클로닝하고 재조합 바이러스를 제작하였다. 재조합 바이러스에 대하여 Southern blotting 분석을 실시하여 lacZ 유전자의 존재를 확인하였으며, 재조합 바이러스가 접종된 세포의 SDS-PAGE 및 Western blotting 분석을 통하여 β-galactosidase의 발현을 확인하였다. 재조합 바이러스의 발현효율을 누에 세포주 및 유충에서 비교 조사한 결과, 유충에서 더욱 높은 발현량을 보임을 확인하였다. To investigate the expression efficiency of new transfer vector of Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV), Escherichia coli lacZ gene was inserted into new transfer vector pBmKSK1, under the control of polyhedrin promoter and expressed in BmN-4 cells coninfected with transfer vector pBmKSK1-LacZ and vild type BmNPV genome, and analysed by Southern blotting. The expression of β-galactosidase was characterized by SDS-PAGE, Western blotting and β-galactosidase activity assay. The results showed that the level of expression in silkworn larvae was higher than that of BmN-4 cells.
