<P>Since 2013, the Hospital-based Influenza Morbidity and Mortality (HIMM) surveillance system began a H7N9 influenza surveillance scheme for returning travelers in addition to pre-existing emergency room (ER)-based influenza-like illness (ILI) surveillance and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) surveillance. Although limited to eastern China, avian A/H7N9 influenza virus is considered to have the highest pandemic potential among currently circulating influenza viruses. During the study period between October 1st, 2013 and April 30th, 2016, 11 cases presented with ILI within seven days of travel return. These patients visited China, Hong Kong, or neighboring Southeast Asian countries, but none of them visited a livestock market. Seasonal influenza virus (54.5%, 6 among 11) was the most common cause of ILI among returning travelers, and avian A/H7N9 influenza virus was not detected during the study period.</P>
Extended Dissipative Analysis for Neural Networks With Time-Varying Delays

<P>In this brief, an extended dissipativity analysis was conducted for a neural network with time-varying delays. The concept of the extended dissipativity can be used to solve for the H<SUB>∞</SUB>, L<SUB>2</SUB> - L<SUB>∞</SUB>, passive, and dissipative performance by adjusting the weighting matrices in a new performance index. In addition, the activation function dividing method is modified by introducing a tuning parameter. Examples are provided to show the effectiveness and less conservatism of the proposed method.</P>

In this paper, we present a study of the effect of prefetching of pages in the virtual memory subsystem of the operating system. As disk accesses are increasingly becoming a bottleneck of a computer system it is essential that this bottleneck be alleviated. Prefetching of pages in one such approach. Using an algorithm proposed for buffer caching, we modify the virtual memory subsystem of the FreeBSD operating system kernel so that prefetching may be achieved in an effective manner. To validate the effect of prefetching we run experiments using the original operating system and the modified operating system. The experiments are conducted using matrix calculations and by running a I/O intensive benchmark. Results show that the modified kernel provides more efficient execution in terms of actually reducing the number of page faults as well as the real execution time. However, the experiments also show that the bookkeeping overhead induced by the modification increases the system overhead slightly.

To resolve the problem of traffic congestion, nations around the world have been concentrating their efforts on the development of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). ITS brings about numerous services and features needed for road traffic management. An essential component of much of the services provided by ITS is the accurate marking of the positions of vehicles on digital maps. In this paper, we give a comprehensible analysis of map matching algorithms which attempt to locate exactly the vehicles positioned on the road. Furthermore, we present a map matching algorithm that uses a geographic approach which improves the efficiency of previously proposed algorithms.

Background/Aims: First-line therapies against Helicobacter pylori, including proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) plus two antibiotics, may fail in up to 20% of patients. ``Rescue`` therapy is usually needed for patients who failed the first-line treatment. This study evaluated the eradication rate of bismuth-containing quadruple rescue therapy over a 1- or 2-week period. Methods: We prospectively investigated 169 patients with a persistent H. pylori infection after the first-line triple therapy, which was administered from October 2008 to March 2010. The patients were randomized to receive a 1- or 2-week quadruple rescue therapy (pantoprazole 40 mg b.i.d., tripotassium dicitrate bismuthate 300 mg q.i.d., metronidazole 500 mg t.i.d., and tetracycline 500 mg q.i.d.). After the ``rescue`` therapy, the eradication rate, compliance, and adverse events were evaluated. Results: The 1-week group achieved 83.5% (71/85) and 87.7% (71/81) eradication rates in the intention to treat (ITT) and per-protocol (PP) analyses, respectively. The 2-week group obtained 87.7% (72/84) and 88.9% (72/81) eradication rate in the ITT and PP analyses, respectively. There was no significant difference in the eradication rate, patient compliance or rate of adverse events between the two groups. Conclusions: One-week bismuth-containing quadruple therapy can be as effective as a 2-week therapy after the failure of the first-line eradication therapy. (Gut Liver 2012;6:434-439)

8 patients of delayed CO sequelae were evaluated using Brain CT and Tc-99m-HMPAO SPECT. The results were as follows; 1) CT findings of delayed CO sequelae were bilateral low density lesion in globus pallidus (1 pt.), diffuse low density in white matter with bilateral low density in white matter (1 pt.), diffuse low density in white matter with bilateral low density in globus pallidus (1 pt.), diffuse low density in white matter with cortical atrophy (1 pt.), bilateral low density in globus pallidus and diffuse low density in white matter with cortical atrophy (1 pt.) and normal in 3 pts. 2) Tc-99m-HMPAO Brain SPECT findings of delayed CO sequelae were decreased regiona1 cerebral b1ood flow (rCBF) in frontal (1 among 8 pts.), frontal and basal ganglia (3 among 8 pts.), and diffuse patch decreased rCBF pattern (4 among 8 pts.) 3) Tc-99m-HMPAO Brain SPECT study was well correlated with neurologic symptoms and signs in delayed CO sequelae. Our results may suggest that reduced cerebral blood flow contributes to the development of delayed CO sequelae.
Effect of weak interlayer coupling on critical fluctuation in high $T_c$ superconductors

The magnetization and/or resistivity of high $T_c$ superconductors ($YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$(YBCO) single crystal, $Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_8$ (Bi-2212) single crystal, $Tl_2Ba_2CaCu_2O_8$ (Tl-2212) film, $HgBa_2Ca_2Cu_3O_8$ (Hg-1223) film) have been measured as a function of magnetic field H and temperature T. The extracted fluctuation part of the magnetization and conductivity exhibits a critical behavior consistent with the three-dimensional XY model. The dynamic critical exponent z does not sensitively vary with a type of the superconductors. The value of z ranges from 1.5 to $1.8{\pm}0.1$. However, the static critical exponent ${\nu}$ is the most largely increased in Tl-2212 that has a weaker interlayer coupling strength than YBCO; the value of ${\nu}$ is 0.669, 0.909, 1.19, and 1.338 for YBCO, Bi-2212, Hg-1223, and Tl-2212 respectively. The results indicate that the weak interlayer coupling along the c-axis of high $T_c$ superconductors near $T_c$ does not influence the dynamic critical exponent z (the same value of superfluid $^4He$), but significantly increases the static critical exponent ${\nu}$.
