Flavodoxin (Fld) has been demonstrated to bind to ferredoxin- NADP+ reductase A (FprA) in Pseudomonas putida. Two residues (Phe256, Lys259) of FprA are likely to be important for interacting with Fld based on homology modeling. Sitedirected mutagenesis and pH-dependent enzyme kinetics were performed to further examine the role of these residues. The catalytic efficiencies of FprA-Ala259 and FprA-Asp259 proteins were two-fold lower than those of the wild-type FprA. Homology modeling also strongly suggested that these two residues are important for electron transfer. Thermodynamic properties such as entropy, enthalpy, and heat capacity changes of FprA-Ala259 and FprA-Asp259 were examined by isothermal titration calorimetry. We demonstrated, for the first time, that Phe256 and Lys259 are critical residues for the interaction between FprA and Fld. Van der Waals interactions and hydrogen bonding were also more important than ionic interactions for forming the FprA-Fld complex. [BMB Reports 2012; 45(8): 476-481]

A repository is a system for management not only simple information using database but also complex and various information resources. A standard for implementation of a repository is now IRDS, but it does not support distributed-object environment. Therefore, in this paper, we design and implement IRDS-based repository on distributed-object environment. For implementation, we use ISO IRDS as a repository supporting object-oriented concepts, and choice the CORBA to support the distributed-object technology. Implemented contents are metadata table and service interface base on core functionality to be proposes at IRDS, and window-based user interface to use them. Also, we apply it to the workflow management system and test its practical usefulness.

분산 이질 환경에서의 메타데이터 관리 시스템은 지역적으로 분산되고 이질의 환경에 존재하는 CAD/CAM 자료나 프로세스에 대한 메타데이터 등을 유기적이고 논리적으로 통합하여 저장 및 관리를 하는 시스템이다. 이러한 메타데이터 관리 시스템은 분산 이질 CALS 환경 구축의 핵심요소로서 표준화된 형태를 따라야 하며 분산 객체 환경에 적합한 CORBA 기반 구조를 따르는 것이 적합하다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 메타데이터 관리 시스템의 요구 사항에 따라 CORBA 기반의 분산 이질 환경에서 운용될 수 있는 메타데이터 관리 시스템을 설계하였으며, 특히 메타데이터 처리 엔진과 메타데이터 저장을 위한 테이블을 제시하고자 한다.
무전해 도금법으로 제조된 Co(Re,P) capping layer제조 및 특성 평가

Electrolessly deposited Co (Re,P) was investigated as a possible capping layer for Cu wires. 50 nm Co (Re,P) films were deposited on Cu/Ti-coated silicon wafers which acted as a catalytic seed and an adhesion layer, respectively. To obtain the optimized bath composition, electroless deposition was studied through an electrochemical approach via a linear sweep voltammetry analysis. The results of using this method showed that the best deposition conditions were a $CoSO_4$ concentration of 0.082 mol/l, a solution pH of 9, a $KReO_4$ concentration of 0.0003 mol/l and sodium hypophosphite concentration of 0.1 mol/L at $80^{\circ}C$. The thermal stability of the Co (Re,P) layer as a barrier preventing Cu was evaluated using Auger electron spectroscopy and a Scanning calorimeter. The measurement results showed that Re impurities stabilized the h.c.p. phase up to $550^{\circ}C$ and that the Co (Re,P) film efficiently blocked Cu diffusion under an annealing temperature of $400^{\circ}C$ for 1hr. The good barrier properties that were observed can be explained by the nano-sized grains along with the blocking effect of the impurities at the fast diffusion path of the grain boundaries. The transformation temperature from the amorphous to crystal structure is increased by doping the Re.

Cerebral vasospasm is one of most serious complication after subarachnoid hemorrhage due to aneurysmal rupture and a very important cause affecting to prognosis. The most reliable diagnostic assessment of cerebral vasospasm is angiography, but this is limited to perform because of complications such as neurological deficits or death, especially to repeat study. It seems likely that assessment of evoked electrical activity, a much simpler and safer than the repeated study of angiogrpay, will be of use in following the condition of patients with clinical vasospasm following SAH In order to study relationship between clinical vasospasm and electrical activity, we traced SSEP from upper extremity by median nerve stimulation and lower extremity by posterior tibial stimulation which manifest the neurophysiologic function of cerebral ischemia. MN(Median n.) and PTN(Posterior tibial n.) were performed simultaneously. Over 2 years period (1986 through 1988), 41 patients were performed SSEP and evaluated the relationship between SSEP and clinical or angiographic vasospasm in patients of SAH.
