        실생활 문장제에서 현실맥락 고려에 관한 예비교사들의 인식 분석

        이 연구는 예비교사들을 대상으로 1) 실생활 문장제의 해결 과정에서 현실맥락을 예민하게 고려하는지, 2) 교사 입장에서 문제의 현실맥락을 예민하게 고려한/고려하지 않은 학생 응답을 어떻게 평가하는지를 조사하였다. 예비교사들 역시 학생들과 마찬가지로 일부 실생활 문장제에 대하여 현실맥락을 예민하게 고려하지 않았으며, 현실맥락을 예민하게 생각하지 않은 채 전형적인 풀이를 적용한 학생 응답을 현실맥락에 예민하게 반응한 답보다 높이 평가하였다. 예비교사 자신이 문제 해결 과정에서 현실맥락을 예민하게 고려했던 경우와 아니었던 경우 모두 학생의 현실맥락 고려를 문제 의도에 부합하지 않는다는 점에서 혹은 문제 오류의 증거로 긍정적으로 수용하지 않았다. 예비교사들의 학생 응답에 대한 평가의견에 내포된 전제로부터 예비교사들이 수용했으며 실생활 문장제의 교수 학습 상황과 학생들에게 기대한 암묵적인 교수학적 계약을 구체적으로 관찰할 수 있었다. 실생활 문장제에 대한 예비교사들의 인식을 탐색한 본 연구의 결과는 예비교사들이 실생활 문장제에 대해 가지고 있는 통상 교수학에 도전하고 수정할 수 있는 교사 교육 프로그램의 개발에 기여할 수 있을 것이다. We investigated whether and how pre-service teachers took the realistic contexts seriously in the course of solving word problems; additionally, we investigated how pre-service teachers evaluated students’ realistic and non-realistic answers to word problems. Many pre-service teachers, similar to students, solved some of the realistic problems unrealistically without taking the realistic contexts seriously. Besides, they evaluated students’ non-realistic answers higher than the realistic answers. Whether the pre-service teachers could solve problems realistically or not, they did not appreciate students’ realistic considerations for the reasons that those were not fitted to the intentions of the word problems, or those were evidence of the flaws of the problem. Furthermore, the analysis of premises implied in the pre-service teachers’ evaluation comments showed the implicit didactic contracts about realistic word problem solving that they accepted and also anticipated students to follow. Our analysis of the pre-service teachers’ conceptions of realistic word problems can help teacher educators design the teacher program to challenge and revise pre-service teachers’ folk pedagogy.

        Relationship Between Indoor Air Pollutant Levels and Residential Environment in Children With Atopic Dermatitis

        <P><B>Purpose</B></P><P>This study was aimed to investigate the relationship between indoor air pollutant levels and residential environment in children with atopic dermatitis (AD) living in Seoul.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>A total of 150 children with AD were included. Residential environment was assessed by questionnaires which were completed by their parents. To evaluate the level of exposure to the indoor air pollutants, concentrations of the indoor air pollutants including particulate matter with diameter less than 10 µm (PM<SUB>10</SUB>), formaldehyde, carbon dioxide (CO<SUB>2</SUB>), carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO<SUB>2</SUB>), Total Volatile Organic Compound (TVOC), benzene, toluene, ethyl-benzene, xylene, styrene, bacterial aerosols, and airborne fungi were measured.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>A significant difference was exhibited in the levels of PM<SUB>10</SUB> in case of visible fungus on the walls (<I>P</I>=0.047). There was relationship between the construction year of the house, moving to a newly constructed building within 1 year and formaldehyde level. With the use of artificial air freshener, the differences were found in the concentrations of TVOC (<I>P</I>=0.003), benzene (<I>P</I>=0.015), toluene (<I>P</I>=0.012) and ethyl-benzene (<I>P</I>=0.027). The concentration of xylene was significantly high when oil was used as heating fuel (<I>P</I>=0.015). Styrene exhibited differences depending on building type and its concentrations were significantly high in a residential and commercial complex building (<I>P</I>=0.005). The indoor concentration of bacterial aerosols was significantly low with the use of air cleaner (<I>P</I>=0.045). High NO<SUB>2</SUB>, benzene concentrations were present in case of almost no ventilation (<I>P</I>=0.028 and <I>P</I>=0.028, respectively).</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>Individual residential environments are closely related with the levels of the indoor air pollutants. To alleviate AD symptoms, simple questions about residential environments such as visible fungus on the walls and the use of artificial air freshener are helpful to assess the possibility of increased indoor air pollutant levels when direct measurement is not available.</P>

      • Self-Assembled Nanoconstructs Modified with Amplified Aptamers Inhibited Tumor Growth and Retinal Vascular Hyperpermeability via Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Capturing

        <P>Here, nanoconstructs consisting of a DNA- amplified aptamer with a biocompatible polymer backbone for capturing target biomolecules are presented. First, the polymer-DNA nanoconstructs were prepared by hybridization of two complementary single-stranded DNAs that were each conjugated to a dextran polymer backbone. The designed polymer-DNA amplified aptamer nanoconstructs (PA-aNCs) were then prepared by utilizing polymer-DNA nanoconstructs conjugated with an aptamer (PA-NCs) using a rolling circle amplification reaction to amplify the aptamer. These PA-aNCs were successfully applied to alleviate tumor growth and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)induced retinal vascular hyperpermeability in vivo through the highly effective capture of human VEGF as a target molecule. These PA-aNCs could be used as therapeutic agent for anti-VEGF therapy by efficiently capturing human VEGF.</P>

        Clinical features and outcomes of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma complicated with bile duct invasion

        Background/Aims: Little is known about the treatment or outcomes of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) complicated with bile duct invasion. Methods: A total of 247 consecutive HCC patients with bile duct invasion at initial diagnosis were retrospectively included. Results: The majority of patients had Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stage C HCC (66.8%). Portal vein tumor thrombosis was present in 166 (67.2%) patients. Median survival was 4.1 months. Various modalities of treatment were initially employed including surgical resection (10.9%), repeated transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) (42.5%), and conservative management (42.9%). Among the patients with obstructive jaundice (n=88), successful biliary drainage was associated with better overall survival rate. Among the patients with BCLC stage C, overall survival differed depending on the initial treatment for HCC; surgical resection, TACE, systemic chemotherapy, and conservative management showed overall survival rates of 11.5, 6.0 ,2.4, and 1.6 months, respectively. After adjusting for confounders, surgical resection and repeated TACE were significant prognostic factors for HCC patients with bile duct invasion (hazard ratios 0.47 and 0.39, Ps <0.001, respectively). Conclusions: The survival of HCC patients with bile duct invasion at initial diagnosis is generally poor. However, aggressive treatments for HCC such as resection or biliary drainage may be beneficial therapeutic options for patients with preserved liver function. (Clin Mol Hepatol 2017;23:160-169)

        Oxidizing Capacity of Periodate Activated with Iron-Based Bimetallic Nanoparticles

        <P>Nanosized zerovalent iron (nFe<SUP>0</SUP>) loaded with a secondary metal such as Ni or Cu on its surface was demonstrated to effectively activate periodate (IO<SUB>4</SUB><SUP>–</SUP>) and degrade selected organic compounds at neutral pH. The degradation was accompanied by a stoichiometric conversion of IO<SUB>4</SUB><SUP>–</SUP> to iodate (IO<SUB>3</SUB><SUP>–</SUP>). nFe<SUP>0</SUP> without bimetallic loading led to similar IO<SUB>4</SUB><SUP>–</SUP> reduction but no organic degradation, suggesting the production of reactive iodine intermediate only when IO<SUB>4</SUB><SUP>–</SUP> is activated by bimetallic nFe<SUP>0</SUP> (e.g., nFe<SUP>0</SUP>–Ni and nFe<SUP>0</SUP>–Cu). The organic degradation kinetics in the nFe<SUP>0</SUP>–Ni(or Cu)/IO<SUB>4</SUB><SUP>–</SUP> system was substrate dependent: 4-chlorophenol, phenol, and bisphenol A were effectively degraded, whereas little or no degradation was observed with benzoic acid, carbamazepine, and 2,4,6-trichlorophenol. The substrate specificity, further confirmed by little kinetic inhibition with background organic matter, implies the selective nature of oxidant in the nFe<SUP>0</SUP>–Ni(or Cu)/IO<SUB>4</SUB><SUP>–</SUP> system.         <P>Despite development of medicine, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are still the leading cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. Over the past 10 years, various stem cells have been utilized in therapeutic strategies for the treatment of CVDs. CVDs are characterized by a broad range of pathological reactions including inflammation, necrosis, hyperplasia, and hypertrophy. However, the causes of CVDs are still unclear. While there is a limit to the currently available target-dependent treatments, the therapeutic potential of stem cells is very attractive for the treatment of CVDs because of their paracrine effects, anti-inflammatory activity, and immunomodulatory capacity. Various studies have recently reported increased therapeutic potential of transplantation of microRNA- (miRNA-) overexpressing stem cells or small-molecule-treated cells. In addition to treatment with drugs or overexpressed miRNA in stem cells, stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles also have therapeutic potential because they can deliver the stem cell-specific RNA and protein into the host cell, thereby improving cell viability. Here, we reported the state of stem cell-based therapy for the treatment of CVDs and the potential for cell-free based therapy.</P>

      • Iridium Cyclometalates with Tethered <i>o</i>-Carboranes: Impact of Restricted Rotation of <i>o</i>-Carborane on Phosphorescence Efficiency

        <P>Iridium(III) cyclometalates (<B>1c</B> and <B>2c</B>) in which the two carborane units on the 4- or 5-positions of 2-phenylpyridine (ppy) ligands were tethered by an alkylene linker were prepared to investigate the effect of free rotation of <I>o</I>-carborane on phosphorescence efficiency. In comparison with the unlinked complex, tethering the <I>o</I>-carboranes to the 5-positions of ppy ligands (<B>2c</B>) enhanced phosphorescence efficiency by over 30-fold in polar medium (Φ<SUB>PL</SUB> = 0.37 vs 0.011 in THF), while restricting the rotation of <I>o</I>-carborane at the 4-positions (<B>1c</B>) negatively affected the phosphorescence efficiency.         <P><B>Highlights</B></P><P>► We examined customization program and commitment to relationship in the e-commerce environment. ► We found the moderating effect of consumer expertise in the customization-relationship model. ► Perceived company competence directly influences future commitment to relationship. ► Encouraging participation in customization indirectly affects future commitment to relationship.</P> <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>The purpose of this study is to propose a model that explains the consumers’ perception of customization in e-commerce. This study suggests two determinants of consumer attitude toward the e-commerce website with customization options: perceived participation and perceived company responsiveness. Consumer attitude was posited to influence consumers’ intention to consider a long-term relationship with an e-commerce company. In this model, two consumer characteristics—consumer expertise and preference stability—were considered as moderators of the relations between consumers’ perception of participation and company’s responsiveness and consumer attitude toward the customization program. The model was tested by structural equation modeling (SEM) using AMOS 14.0, and the posited relations were confirmed. The moderating effect of preference stability was found significant. The perceived participation level of those with a more stable preference influenced their attitude toward the customization experience, while the company’s responsiveness was influential only for those with a less stable preference.</P>
