The current study aimed to reveal the potential effect of meclofenamate, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, on the gene expression of airway MUC5AC mucin. Human pulmonary mucoepidermoid NCI-H292 cells were pretreated with meclofenamate for 30 min and stimulated with phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) for 24 h. Thereafter, the effect of meclofenamate on the PMAinduced nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kB) signaling pathway was assessed. Meclofenamate inhibited glycoprotein production and mRNA expression of MUC5AC mucins induced by PMA by inhibiting the degradation of inhibitory kappa Bα (IkBα) and NF-kB p65 nuclear translocation. These results suggest meclofenamate suppresses mucin gene expression by regulating NF-kB signaling pathway in human pulmonary epithelial cells.

<P>Wireless sensor networks have great potentials to be applied to mission critical real-time applications such as target tracking, emergency detection, and disaster management. For such real-time applications, sensory data should be delivered within the end-to-end deadlines; otherwise, the data may become useless or misleading. In order to provide such deterministic guarantee of end-to-end deadlines, not only packet scheduling within a single hop but also routing across multiple hops have to be jointly considered. In this paper, we propose a combined scheduling and routing mechanism that provides a deterministic guarantee of end-to-end deadlines leveraging real-time scheduling and analysis techniques. Our experimental study shows that the proposed mechanism can accommodate a larger workload meeting all the end-to-end deadlines than a pretty comprehensive set of other possible solutions of scheduling and routing that are known to deterministically guarantee end-to-end deadlines.</P>
DSS: Distributed SINR-Based Scheduling Algorithm for Multihop Wireless Networks

<P>The problem of developing distributed scheduling algorithms for high throughput in multihop wireless networks has been extensively studied in recent years. The design of a distributed low-complexity scheduling algorithm becomes even more challenging when taking into account a physical interference model, which requires the SINR at a receiver to be checked when making scheduling decisions. To do so, we need to check whether a transmission failure is caused by interference due to simultaneous transmissions from distant nodes. In this paper, we propose a scheduling algorithm under a physical interference model, which is amenable to distributed implementation with 802.11 CSMA technologies. The proposed scheduling algorithm is shown to achieve throughput optimality. We present two variations of the algorithm to enhance the delay performance and to reduce the control overhead, respectively, while retaining throughput optimality.</P>

Background: We investigated whether prunetin significantly affects tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)-induced MUC5AC mucin gene expression, production, inhibitory kappa B (IkB) degradation and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kB) p65 translocation in human airway epithelial cells. Methods: Confluent NCI-H292 cells were pretreated with prunetin for 30 minutes and then stimulated with TNF-α for 24 hours or the indicated periods. MUC5AC mucin gene expression and mucin protein production were measured by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, respectively. The effect of prunetin on TNF-α-induced degradation of IkB and translocation of NF-κB p65 was investigated by western blot analysis. Results: We found that incubation of NCI-H292 cells with prunetin significantly inhibited mucin production and down-regulated the MUC5AC gene expression induced by TNF-α. Prunetin inhibited TNF-α-induced degradation of IkB and translocation of NF-κB p65. Conclusion: This result suggests that prunetin inhibits the NF-κB signaling pathway, which may explain its role in the inhibition of MUC5AC mucin gene expression and production regulated by the NF-κB signaling pathway.

본 논문에서는 RFID 시스템에서 쿼리 트리 기반의 태그 충돌 중재를 위한 새로운 프로토콜을 제안한다. 제안한 하이브리드 쿼리 트리(Hybrid Query Tree) 기법은 이진 쿼리 트리 대신에 4-ary 쿼리트리를 이용하여 태그 충돌 수를 줄였으며 추가적으로 발생하는 유휴 시간을 줄이기 위해 slotted 백오프기법을 활용하였다. 실험결과 및 수학적 분석은 제안한 하이브리드 쿼리 트리 프로토콜이 기존에 제시된 기법보다 우수한 성능을 보임을 입증한다. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid approach based on query tree protocol to arbitrate tag collisions in RFID systems. The hybrid query tree protocol that combines a tree based query protocol with a slotted backoff mechanism. The proposed protocol decreases the average identification delay by reducing collisions and idle time. To reduce collisions, we use a 4-ary query tree instead of a binary query tree. To reduce idle time, we introduce a slotted backoff mechanism to reduce the number of unnecessary Query commands. Simulation and numerical analysis reveal that the proposed protocol achieves lower identification delay than existing tag collision arbitration protocols.
R744-R717 캐스케이드 냉동시스템에서 운전조건 변화에 따른 성능 해석

The evaporating temperature range required for the low temperature freezing system is from -50℃ to -30℃. Since it is difficult to keep the required capacity in a cabinet, it is advantageous to design the system using a cascade refrigeration system. Use of carbon dioxide and ammonia would be advantageous since ammonia is an environment-friendly working fluid and has a high capacity for performance improvement. To investigate the performance characteristics of the R744-R717 cascade refrigeration system, a theoretical model was developed and performance was analyzed according to cascade heat exchanger operating temperature. The optimal cascade R744 condensing temperature was -5℃, and maximum COP was 1.13 when the temperature difference of the cascade heat exchanger was 5℃. In addition, the total system COP increased by 1.17 when the cascade temperature gap was 3℃ at the middle temperature of -7.5℃.

본 논문에서는 멀티호밍 모바일 네트워크에서 발생하는 다양한 이슈 중 인그레스 필터링(ingress filtering) 문제에 대한 해결책을 제시하고자 한다. 본 저자들은 먼저 다수의 모바일 라우터가 존재하는 모바일 네트워크 환경에서 이웃 모바일 라우터 사이에 '프리픽스(prefix) 이웃' 관계를 제안한다. 그리고 이런 관계를 활용하여 모바일 라우터의 서비스를 받는 단말들이 자신의 주소를 변경하지 않고도 이웃 모바일 라우터를 통하여 릴레이 서비스를 받을 수 있도록 하는 인그레스 필터링 우회 기법도 제안한다. 또한 제안된 기법들을 ㎱-2 시뮬레이터 상에서 구현하고, 모의 실험을 수행하여 제안된 기법의 성능 향상을 검증한다.
