        Many of the growth-promoting properties of growth hormone(GH) are mediated by insulin-like growth factor-I(IGF-I), a highly conserved circulating 70-amino acid peptide. Recent studies have shown that multiple mechanisms influence IGF-I gene expression, including transcription from two promoters, alternative RNA splicing, and variable polyadenylation. In thyroid tissue, thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH) and IGF-I are the most possible candidates for follicular cell proliferation and hypertrophy. Actually IGF-I had autocrine and paracrine effect for tissue growing. We prepared thyroid tumor tissue mRNAs using single step method for detecting IGF-I levels according to different tissues, i.e., thyroid adenoma or papillary thyroid carcinoma. We used Northern blot analysis for IGF-I mRNA and RNase protection assay (RPA) for IGF-I transcription start sites. For Northern blot, we used whole human IGF-I cDNA as a DNA probe and for RPA, we used IGF-I exon 1 containing noncoding promoter 1 as a riboprobe. We got good RNA bands from Northern blot analysis around 1 kb (IGF-IA) and 7.5 kb (IGF-IB) region. To clarify the amount of both IGF-IA and IB mRNAs, we measured autoradiographied signal of IGF-I mRNAs bands using densitometer. In IGF-IA signals, there's no change among liver and thyroid tissues, but in case of IGF-IB mRNA bands, the signal was markedly increased in thyroid carcinoma tissues than that of normal thyroid tissue (85% vs 14%). In the study of RPA, all thyroid tissues used the same transcription start sites as those of liver's. We concluded that that this different regulation of IGF-I mRNA was originated from tissue specificity. That meant some tissue specific transcription factor/s were related to tissue IGF-I expression.

        임상간호사의 사회심리적 건강과 건강지각, 건강관련 행위

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among psycho-social well-being, and health perception and behavior in clinical nurses. Methods: The data were collected from 362 nurses employed at five general hospitals. A self-reported questionnaire was used to assess demographics and job characteristics, health perception and behavior, depression, and psycho-social stress. The data were analysed using Cronbach's alpha, descriptive statistics, t-test, and ANOVA. Results: While nurses perceived themselves to be in good health, represented by a high mean for health perceptions, actual health behavior was poor as the mean for health behavior was low. Forty two percents of the subjects were categorized as having major depression and high-stress levels. There were statistically significant differences in psycho-social well-being according to age, marital status, years of employment, and monthly salary. Also, there were significant differences in psycho-social well-being according to health perception, regular meals and exercise, sufficient sleep, job related injury and accident, and absences for ill. Conclusion: In order to prevent depression and improve psycho-social well-being among clinical nurses, organizational support and health management needs to be focused on high-risk nurses. Furthermore, it is essential to consider the health perception and behavior of clinical nurses.

      • 昆蟲의 酵素分析에 의한 環境汚染比較에 관한 硏究

        The experiment was conducted to elucidate the differences of several mosquito strains(Culex pipiens pallans Coquillet : Mushimcheon, Daecheongdam, Oksan, Weolacksan) to various insecticides using the methods such as bioassay, electrophoresis, and filter paper test. And the results are summarized as follows. 1. In LC50, Mushimcheon strain showed the highest insecticidal resistance while that of Weolacksan strain was the lowest. Resistant ratio(RR50) of mosquito srains to temephos was very high while all strains showed very low rate to propoxur. In LC95, insecticidal resistance to temephos was very high in Oksan strain while Daecheongdam strain was very low. 2. Est-Bl was detected in all strains tested by electrophoresis. And the activity was very high in Oksan strain and very low in Daecheongdam strain. 3. Esterase activity, determined by filter paper test and digital densitometry, was very high in Oksan strain and that of Daecheongdam was very low. 4. The results obtained thus far indicated that the mosquito strains that inhabit in Oksan and Mushimcheon region where respective agricultural chemicals and insecticides to control medical insects are heavily applicated are more contaminated by insecticidal chemicals than other regions.

      • 감꼭지나방(나비목:감꼭지나방과)의 발육생태

        충북 영동의 감나무 가로수에서 감꼭지나방(Stathmopoda masinissa)을 채집하여 온도 25±1℃,광주기 16L:8D, 상대습도 85%의 실내조건에서 이들의 발육생태를 조사하였다. 각 충태별 발육일수는 알기간 7.4일, 유충기간 34.8일, 번데기기간이 15.5일이었다. 1령에서 5령의 영기간은 각각 3.5일, 4.2일, 5.2일, 6.5일, 15.4일이었으며, 유충의 두폭은 각각 0.20, 0.40, 0.65, 0.87, 1.07mm이었다. 용화율과 우화율은 각각 68.0%, 59.9%이었다. 성충 수명은 수컷이 6.2일, 암컷이 10.1일이며, 암컷 한 마리당 평균 산란수는 24.4개였다. Persimmon fruit moth, Sathmopoda masinissa, collected from roadside persimmon trees planted as shade trees in yeongdong area was used to investigate their developmental ecology under laboratory condition; 25±1℃, 16L : 8D and 85% RH. Developmental periods for eggs, larvae, and pupae were 7.4, 34.8 and 15.5 days, respectively. The duration for each larval instar from the 1st to the 5th was 3.5, 4.2, 5.2, 6.5 and 15.4 days, respectively, and the head capsule width of corresponding stage was 0.20, 0.40, 0.65, 0.87 and 1.07mm. Rates of pupation and emergence were 68.0 and 59.9%, respectively. Longevity of adult males was 6.3 days while that of females was 10.1 days. Average fecundity was 25.4 eggs.

      • 合成洗劑가 빨간집모기의 生態, 生理學的 特性에 미치는 影響

        It is considered a general experience that migration from rural to urban areas will go on in any developing countries pursuing economic development through industralization. In Korea, migration is considered one of the serious socio- economic problems because it has been made excessively fast than any other countries' experiences. The socio- economic problems originates in migration can be classified in two ways ; the one is the overpopulated problems of urban areas and emptied villages problems of rural areas, and the other is the shartage agricultural labor farce problems symbolized by the increasing idle cultivated land. To relieve migration effectively, the developing policies should be converted from pursuing fast industralization and urbanization to balance growth between areas and industries. Moreover problem solving political measure should be converted from partial and corresponding approaches to total approaches containing economic, social and institutional side-view.

      • 금잔화 잎 추출물의 살충활성과 생리적 특성에 관한 연구

        The experiment was carried out to elucidate insecticidal activity and physiological characteristics of the extrac from leaves of pot marigold (Calendula arvensis L.) against cockroach (Blattella germanica L. ), house fly (Musca demestica L. ), mosquito (Culex pipiens pallens Coquillett), brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens Stal) and diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella L.). Each extract was tested by various bioassays, esterase isozyme pattern and esterase activity. The results obtained from the experiment was summarized as follows. 1.Bioassay The extract from leaves of pot marigold showed insecticidal activity against all insect pests. The insectcidal activity against insect pests showed 43, 63 and 81% in the 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 ppm against cockroach, 45, 65 and 78% in the 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 ppm against mosquito, 43% in the 10,000 ppm against house fly, 57, 67 and 87% against brown planthopper and 43, 50, 58 and 73% in the 100, 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 ppm against diamondback moth. 2.Esterase isozyme pattern Esterase isozymes were detected in the extract from leaves of pot marigold against insect pests by agarose gel electrophoresis. Esterase isozymes of cockroach showed the bands of Est-α1β1, Est- α2β2, Est-α1, Est-α2 and Est-α3. Est-α1β1, Est- α2β2, Est-α3 in the control, 0.1 and 5,000 ppm, Est-α1, Est-α2 and Est-α3 in the 1, 10, 100 and 1,000 ppm, Est-α1, Est-α2 and Est-α3 in the 10,000 ppm were shown, respectively. Esterase isozyme of mosquito showed the band of Est-β1 in the all concentration. Esterase isozyme of house fly showed the bands of Est-α1, Est-α2 Est-α3 and Est-α4 in the control, 0.1, 1, 10, 100, 1,000 and 5,000 ppm, Est-α1, Est-α2 and Est-α3 in the 10,000 ppm. Esterase isozyme of brown planthopper showed the band of Est-β1 in the all concentration. Esterase isozyme of diamondback moth showed the bands of Est-α1, Est-α2 Est-α3 and Est-α4. Est-α1, Est-α2 Est-α3 and Est-α4 in the control, 0.1, 1, 10, 100, and 1,000 ppm, Est-α1, Est-α2 in the 5,000 ppm and Est-α1 in the 10,000 ppm were detected. 3.Filter paper test Esterase-α activities of insect pests against the extract of pot marigold leaves were examined by the filter paper test. Esterase-α activities of cockroach showed 0.98, 0.76, 0.70, 0.57, 0.51, 0.49 and 0.43 times that in the control, 0.1, 1, 10, 100, 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 ppm, respectively. Esterase-α activities of mosquito showed the 0.41, 0.31, 0.36, 0.23, 0.18, 0.14 and 0.14 times that in the control, 0.1, 1, 10, 100, 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 ppm, respectively. Esterase-α activities of House fly showed the 1.30, 0.80, 0.75, 0.65, 0.40, 0.35 and 0.25 times that in the control, 0.1, 1, 10, 100, 1,000, 5000 and 10,000 ppm, respectively. Esterase-α activities of brown planthopper showed the 0.94, 0.81, 0.64, 0.58, 0.42, 0.31 and 0.25 times that in the control, 0.1, 1, 10, 100, 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 ppm, respectively. Esterase-α activities of diamondback moth showed the 0.90, 0.85, 0.62, 0.72, 0.50, 0.27 and 0.22 times that in the control, 0.1, 1, 10, 100, 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 ppm respectively.

        고온 다습한 환경에서의 주관적 착용 쾌적감 평가도구 개발을 위한 기초 연구 : Fuzzy 이론의 적용방법과 요인분석 방법간의 비교 Comparision between the utilization of Fuzzy theory and Factor Analysis

        Recently, need for the development of the quantification of subjective evaluation is growing for the production of high-touch and high-tech textile products. In this study, Fuzzy theory is utilized for the evaluation of the wear comfort of the various blouses. Result of a new evaluation method and factor scores, validity of the new evalution technique adopted fuzzy theory was crosschecked with the results of fator analysis and factor scores. As results, fuzzy theory was proved to be adequate methodology to objectify the subjective evaluation of the adequacy of clothing which is worn. When DUNCAN'S multiple comparion among median of the fuzzy composite score were compared with the results of factor score, the sensitivity of the test methods tends to increase. Therefore, it is suggested that fuzzy weighted checklist is an alternative evaluation scale for the subjective comparison of the textile products. In addition, individual median of fuzzy composite score value should be treated by statistical for the sensitive analysis of subjective evalution.

      • Clinoptilolite 계열의 국내산 천연제올라이트의 상규명 및 NH₄^+ : 이온교환능에 관한 연구

        Domestic natural zeolite, Clinoptilolite series was investigated to identify the phase and to study the capability of NH4+-ion removal from the solution system. The domestic natural zeolite mined from Young-II man area was proven to be a thermally unstable zeolite, heulandite by XRD and FT-IR analyses. In addition, the heulandite exchanged by K+ ion showed the highest thermal stability upon the heat-treatments. However, the best capability of removing NH4+-ion from the solution system was the Na+-exchanged zeolite.

      • 공기 제습용 무기막의 제조 및 특성

        Recently, the humidity adjustment of indoor air is of great importance in air conditioning system as a applied, in buildings, vehicles, and containers for storage and transport of perishable products. Membrane dehumidification or air is potentially attractive because it offers low capital and operating costs, along with low energy consumption. And membrane dehumidification process attracted the attention of the public instead of the other dehumidification processes, such as adsorption, absorption, and refrigeration cycles and so on. In this study, the prepared hydrophilic inorganic membrane-based dehumidifiers (membrane air dehumidification) examined the performance of dehumidification. The surface-modified inorganic membrane prepared in this study showed high dehumidification efficiency (over 80%). Thc membrane might be very useful for dehumidification industries.
