        To observe the developing process of human fetal eccrine sweat gland during the intrauterine life, an electron microscopic study was carried out based on 12 fetuses ranging from 20 to 42 weeks of gestation. These fetuses were the products of induced deliveries found to have not associated disease or congenital anomalies at the autopsy. Following observations were made. The various types of cell consisting coiled portion of eccrine sweat gland were recognized at the 20th weed of gestation and they were clear cells, undifferentiated dard cells, myoepithelial cells. clear cells were located in central central portion and dark or myoepithelial cells were in peripheral portion. While undifferentiated dark cells were randomly distributed in the straight portion of eccrine sweat gland. The differential points between clear cell and undifferentiated dark cell were its round nucleus and glycogen contents. Marked hydropic changes of clear cells were noted at the 30th week of gestation. Secretory granules were noted at the 31st week of gestation. Secretory cells in the coiled portion of eccrine sweat gland was not fully mature until the 42nd week of gestation. Clear cells showed clear cytoplasm, abundant free ribosomes and scanty organelles. Undifferentiated dark cells showed many mitochondria and few glycogen. Secretory granules were rarely seen. Myoepithelial cells showed a few mitochondria, glycogen and microfilaments. Among three portions of eccrine gland, duct lumen in the acral and coiled portion were formed through the intracellular canaliculus and in the straight portion were made through the intercellular canaliculus. The main basic morphological mechanism of the lumen formation were microvesicle formation and pinched off phenomenon.

        결합조직형성 법랑모세포종의 방사선학적 소견 : 증례보고 3례

        Desmoplastic ameloblastoma is a rare histologic variant of ameloblastoma. It shows important differences in anatomic distribution, histologic appearance, and radiographic findings compared with the general type of ameloblastoma. It is histologically characterized by an abundance of densely collagenous stroma and radiographically a mixed radiolucent-radiopaque lesion. We present three cases of desmoplastic ameloblastoma. All the patients complained on buccal swelling with or without pain and the sites of occurrence were the anterior and the premolar region. Plain radiographs showed mixed radiopaque-radiolucent lesion with ill-defined or diffuse sclerotic margin and no external root resorption. Additionally, CT scans revealed buccal expansion and relatively well-defined margin of the lesions. The clinical and radiographic features of the presented cases were compared with those of the desmoplastic ameloblastoma in the previous literatures.         본 연구는 각종 첨단 기자재를 활용한 강의 현대화 방안을 모색함으로서 공학교육의 효율성을 도모하고 학생들의 학습동기를 유발하여 창조적 능력을 갖츤 전문기술 인력을 양성하는 데 도움을 주고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 현행 공학교육의 현황과 문제점을 분석하고 강의 현대화 사례를 조사하여 본 연구의 기초자료로 삼고자 하였으며, 학부·전공별 강의 현대화 추진 실태분석 및 개선방안을 모색한 후 이상의 연구결과를 종합하여 향후의 강의 형대화 추진방향을 걸정하였다. This study aims to help bring up the well-skilled and creative engineers by searching the modernization of education using various high technology facilities. For this, we analyzed the general condition and problems of current engineering education and surveyed the case study of the modernization of education as basic study. After analyzing the existing situation of promotion searching the proper improvement methods of it, we proposed the new direction of the modernization of education from now on.

        Preparation and Characterization of Iron Matrix Syntactic Foams with Glass Microspheres via Powder Metallurgy

        Iron matrix syntactic foams with four different glass microsphere fractions were prepared via powder metallurgy. Effects ofcompaction pressure and lubricant addition on the microstructure and the mechanical properties were investigated. It wasobserved that matrix densification and fracture, softening, shrinkage, and bonding of the microspheres tended to increase withthe compaction pressures. The compaction pressure incurring microsphere fractures was in inverse ratio to the microspherefraction. The fracture and softened microspheres degraded onset of plateau stress values proportionally to the microspherefractions at low compaction pressure, while enhanced and stabilized them at about 240 MPa at higher pressures regardlessof the microsphere fraction, owing to increased load bearing capacity by a formation of solid particle-like microspheres. Thelubricant formed pores in the matrix or accelerated densification and microsphere fractures depending on the microspherefractions, while it had no significant effect on mechanical characteristics except brittleness.

        A Bivalent Inactivated Vaccine Prevents Enterovirus 71 and Coxsackievirus A16 Infections in the Mongolian Gerbil

        Hand-foot-and-mouth disease (HFMD) is a viral infectious disease that occurs in children under 5 years of age. Its main causes are coxsackievirus (CV) and enterovirus (EV). Since there are no efficient therapeutics for HFMD, vaccines are effective in preventing the disease. To develop broad coverage against CV and EV, the development of a bivalent vaccine form is needed. The Mongolian gerbil is an efficient and suitable animal model of EV71 C4a and CVA16 infection used to investigate vaccine efficacy following direct immunization. In this study, Mongolian gerbils were immunized with a bivalent inactivated EV71 C4a and inactivated CVA16 vaccine to test their effectiveness against viral infection. Bivalent vaccine immunization resulted in increased Ag-specific IgG antibody production; specifically, EV71 C4a-specific IgG was increased with medium and high doses and CVA16- specific IgG was increased with all doses of immunization. When gene expression of T cell-biased cytokines was analysed, Th1, Th2, and Th17 responses were found to be highly activated in the high-dose immunization group. Moreover, bivalent vaccine immunization mitigated paralytic signs and increased the survival rate following lethal viral challenges. When the viral RNA content was determined from various organs, all three doses of bivalent vaccine immunization were found to significantly decrease viral amplification. Upon histologic examination, EV71 C4a and CVA16 induced tissue damage to the heart and muscle. However, bivalent vaccine immunization alleviated this in a dose-dependent manner. These results suggest that the bivalent inactivated EV71 C4a/CVA16 vaccine could be a safe and effective candidate HFMD vaccine.

      • Comparison of orbital prosthesis motility following enucleation or evisceration with sclerotomy with or without a motility coupling post in dogs

        <P>Abstract</P><P>Objective </P><P>To evaluate motility of silicone orbital implants and corneoscleral prostheses, with and without use of a motility coupling post (MCP) in dogs.</P><P>Animals studied </P><P>Eighteen mixed-breed dogs.</P><P>Procedures </P><P>The motility of an orbital silicone implant and corneoscleral prosthesis after enucleation (<I>n</I> = 6), evisceration (<I>n</I> = 6), or use of a MCP with evisceration (<I>n</I> = 6) in dogs were compared. One eye from each dog had surgery whereas the opposite eye was used as a control. Clinical evaluations were performed three times a week. Histopathology of the orbital tissues was performed 8 and 12 weeks after surgery.</P><P>Results </P><P>Implant motility in dogs with evisceration (vertical movement [VM] 8.04 ± 2.13; horizontal movement [HM] 11 ± 3.05) and evisceration with MCP (VM 9.61 ± 1.59); HM was significantly greater than the enucleation group (VM 0.51 ± 0.5; HM 1.22 ± 0.68) (<I>P <</I> 0.01). Prosthetic motility in dogs with evisceration with MCP was significantly greater than in dogs with evisceration; dogs with evisceration had significantly greater motility than dogs with enucleation (<I>P <</I> 0.01). No postoperative complications were observed in any of the groups. No significant abnormalities were noted on histopathology.</P><P>Conclusions </P><P>MCP placement in silicone orbital implants significantly enhanced the prosthetic motility in dogs. This study supports the use of MCP in silicone orbital implants to enhance corneoscleral prosthesis motility and cosmetics in dogs.</P>

        Hip&Pelvis : ORIGINAL ARTICLE : Treatment of Intertrochanteric Fractures Using the Compression Hip Nail

        Purpose: To investigate the clinical and radiologic outcomes following treatment of intertrochanteric fractures using the Compression Hip Nail® (CHN), which has a sliding lag screw. Materials and Methods: Twenty-eight cases of intertrochanteric fractures treated with CHN from November 2012 to October 2013 and followed-up for >6 months were included. The patient population consisted of 11 men and 17 women with a mean age of 75.2 years at the time of surgery. For the initial 11 cases, 10 mm sliding lag screws were used; the remaining 17 cases used 20 mm sliding lag screws. Clinical variables including operation time, amount of transfusion, weight-bearing start time, postoperative physical activity, and complications were investigated. The average sliding of lag screws and the average union were investigated radiologically at 3 and 6 months after surgery. Results: In an analysis of 23 cases (exclusion of 3 cases of lag screw cutout and 2 cases of nonunion), 11 (48%) recovered their pre-injury activity level. In an analysis of 25 cases (exclusion of 3 cases of cutout), 17 (68%) and 23 (92%) showed radiological union at postoperative months 3 and 6, respectively. Seven complications were noted. Cutout of the lag screw and the lateral protrusion of barrels were significantly greater in the group with 10 mm sliding lag screws as compared to the group using 20 mm sliding lag screws. Conclusion: The use of CHN for the treatment of intertrochanteric fracture yielded poor results. However, results from patients in the 20 mm sliding lag screw group were better than for the 10 mm sliding lag screw group. Therefore, use of the 20 mm sliding lag screw is advisable.

        종합병원 간호사의 내부마케팅이 고객지향성과 직무스트레스에 미치는 영향: 조직커뮤니케이션 만족의 매개효과를 중심으로

        본 연구는 종합병원에 근무하는 간호사들이 지각하는 내부마케팅, 조직커뮤니케이션만족, 고객지향성 및 직무스트레스 관계를 파악하고 내부마케팅이 고객지향성과 직무스트레스에 영향을 미치는 과정에서 조직커뮤니케이션 만족의 매개효과를 확인하기 위해 시도되었다. B광역시 2개 종합 병원에 근무하는 간호사 236명으로부터 자료를 수집하였고, 수집된 자료는 SPSS WIN 23.0을 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 내부마케팅은 고객지향성과 조직커뮤니케이션 만족과 유의한 정적 상관관계를 보이고, 직무스트레스에 부적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 내부마케팅은 고객지향성, 조직커뮤니케이션 만족 및 직무스트레스에 유의한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 조직커뮤니케이션 만족은 내부마케팅과 고객지향성의 관계에서는 완전매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났으며, 내부마케팅과 직무스트레스와의 관계에서 부분 매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 통하여 간호사의 고객지향성을 향상시키고 직무스트레스를 낮추기 위해서 내부마케팅에 대한 전략개발이 요구되며, 특히 고객지향성을 확립하는 데 있어 조직커뮤니케이션 만족을 높일 수 있는 전략개발 및 적용이 필요함을 제시하였다. The aim of this study was to identify the influence of internal marketing on customer orientation and job stress of nurses, focusing on the mediating effect of organizational communication satisfaction. The participants in this study were 236 registered nurses working in 2 general hospitals located in B City. The data were collected using structured self-report questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson correlation coefficient, Simple and Multiple Regression with the SPSS WIN 23.0 program. Internal marketing was in positive correlation with customer orientation and organizational communication satisfaction and job stress was negative correlation with organizational communication satisfaction. Organizational communication satisfaction showed perfect mediating effect on the relationship between internal marketing and customer orientation. It had partial mediating effect on the relationship between internal marketing and job stress. In this study, internal marketing had significant influences on nurses` customer orientation and job stress via organizational communication satisfaction. Thus it would be necessary to develop effective strategies which could enhance the organizational communication satisfaction in order to improve nurses` internal marketing.

        치아우식을 유발하는 Streptococcus mutans에 대한 억제효과를 가진 김치 유래 유산균 Latilactobacillus sakei subsp. sakei THYJ-15

        Dental caries is an infectious disease that is caused by the interaction between the host, the diet, and a diverse microbial community. This study illustrated the anticariogenic effects of THYJ-15 against Streptococcus mutans, a major agent of dental caries. THYJ-15 was identified as Latilactobacillus sakei subsp. sakei through 16S rRNA sequencing, with a similarity of 99.72% to L. sakei subsp. sakei JCM 1157T. The cell-free supernatant of L. sakei subsp. sakei THYJ-15 observed MIC values of 10 mg/mL and MBC values of 20 mg/mL against S. mutans KACC 16833T. The cell-free supernatant of L. sakei subsp. sakei THYJ-15 showed significant inhibitory effects on biofilm formation, acid production and glucosyltransferases(GTFs) production against S. mutans. As a results, it was confirmed that L. sakei subsp. sakei THYJ-15 is a lactic acid bacterium possessing notable anticariogenic effects. Accordingly, L. sakei subsp. sakei THYJ-15 is expected to have great potential to be used as a basic substance for dental caries treatment caused by S. mutans.
