      • 가막만에 출현하는 동물플랑크톤의 종조성과 계절별 출현 양상

        가막만에 출현하는 동물플랑크톤을 계절별(2001년 4월, 7월, 9월, 12월)로 Norpac네트를 이용하여 수직 채집하였다. 우점적으로 출현한 분류군은 4월과 12월에 요각류, 7월에 요각류와 지각류,9월에 야광충이었다. 출현 개체수는 22~17,197indiv. m^-3으로 시·공간적으로 변동폭이 매우 컸다. 요각류의 우점종은 4월에 Euryte-mora pacifica, Acartio omorii, Cenfropages abdominalis, Colanus sinicus, 7월에 Lobidocera rofunda와 A. erythraea, 9월에 A. eryfhraea와 Paracalanus parvus s. l., 12월에 A. omorii와 E. pacifca로 주로 내만종으로 변하였다. 그러나, 9월에 외양종인 Eucalanus sp.와 Neo-calnus sp. 또한 다수 출현하였다. 이와 같은 출현 경향은 가막만이 폐쇄성 내만임에도 불구하고 동물플랑크톤의 분포 특성은 내만수 이외에 계절적으로 외만수의 영향을 강하게 받고 있음을 암시하고 있다. Zooplankton was sampled vertically with a Norpac net from Gamag Bay in April, July, September and December, 2001. Copepods were predominant in April and December, and cladocerans in July and Noctiluca scintillans in September, respectively. There are high spatio-temporal fluctuations in the abundance of zooplankton with a range of 22∼17,197 indiv./㎥. In the copepod community, neritic species, Eurytemora pacifica, Acartia omorii, Centropages abdominalis and Calanus sinicus were predominant in April; Labidocera rotunda and A. erythraea in July; A. erythraea and Paracalanus parvus s. l. in September; A. omorii and E. pacifica in December. However, oceanic species Eucalanus sp. and Neocalanus sp. were abundant in September. It indicates that although Gamag Bay is semi-closed, the distribution pattern of zooplankton is seasonally strongly affected by oceanic waters in addition to neritic ones.

        Use of insulin detemir in dogs with diabetes mellitus

        Insulin detemir is a long-acting basal insulin analogue recently introduced in veterinary medicine for treatment of canine diabetes mellitus. As there are only limited studies in dogs, long-term evaluation of insulin detemir in veterinary medicine is required. In this study, we investigated trends in12-hour blood glucose concentration during hospitalization and evaluated initial and following doses of insulin detemir for several months in six diabetic dogs. The mean levels of blood glucose over 12-hour periods were between 113.5 to 327.2 mg/dL, and the average glucose nadir was 103 mg/dL in the six dogs. The dogs were treated with a mean dosage of 0.24 U/kg of insulin detemir, but hypoglycemia was observed in four of the dogs at the first monthly follow-up. Thus, insulin doses were adjusted according to the nadir levels of glucose observed during the follow-up periods (range, 1 to 16 months). The total range of insulin doses throughout the study period was between 0.1 and 0.4 U/kg. Changes in insulin doses in each dog during the follow-up period were not variable. We suggest that insulin detemir might be not only an alternative choice against traditional insulin for patients with insulin resistance or concurrent disease but also an effective home therapy medication in canine patients with DM. This study could help inform veterinary practitioners regarding the use of insulin detemir for canine insulin-dependent DM.

        울산 석유화학공단 인근 어린이들의 혈액상변화 및 면역기능

        목적 : 지역 특성상 휘발성 유기화합물, 분진, 악취 등 환경오염의 영향을 많이 받는 것으로 추정되는 울산석유화학공단 인근 어린이들의 혈액상 변화, 계절 차이에 의한 혈액상 변화와 면역기능에 미치는 영향을 평가하기 위하여 본 연구를 실시하였다. 방법 : 2000년 4월, 7월, 10월 3회에 걸쳐 석유화학공단 인근 A 초등학생 46명(남자 32명, 여자 14명), B 초등학생 97명(남자 49명, 여자 48명)과 교외지역의 A 초등학생 95명(남자 47명, 여자 48명)을 대상으로 일반혈액검사, 백혈구 백분율 검사를 실시하였으며 7월 조사 때는 B 및 C 초등학생 11세 남자 각각 25명을 대상으로 면역학적 기능검사를 실시하였다. 결과 : 3차례에 걸쳐 진행된 검사결과는 계절별로 다른 양상을 보여 주었다. 즉, 총백혈구수, 호중구수, 림프구수는 A와 C 초등학생은 7월 조사에서는 감소되었다 다시 10월 조사 때는 다시 증가하는 경향을 보여주며, B초등학생은 계절별 변화가 거의 없는 것으로 나타났다. 적혈구수는 B와 C 초등학생은 7월 조사시 감소되었다가 10월 조사 때는 다시 증가하는 양상을 보여주나 A 초등학생은 갈수록 감소하는 경향을 보여주었다. 혈색소량의 변화는 적혈구수의 변화와 유사하였다 혈소판수는 모두 7월 조사 때는 감 소되었다가 10월 조사 때는 다시 증가하는 양상을 보여주었다. 조사시기에 따라 각 학교 어린이들간에 혈구세포수의 차이가 있음을 구명하기 위하여 generalized linear model의 repeated measures ANOVA를 시도한 결과 연령과 성을 공변인으로 보정한 후의 P 값에서 조사시기의 차이와 학교간 차이의 교호작용변수(interaction variable)는 모든 혈구세포에서 유의한 것으로 나타났다(P<0.05). 이는 조사시기에 따라 각 학교어린이들간에 혈구세포수의 차이가 유의하게 다르다는 것을 의미한다. 면역기능 평가를 위하여 혈중 immunoglobulin 측정 및 림프구 아형 분포분석을 B 및 C 초등학생 6학년 남학생 각 25명, 총 50명을 대상으로 실시하였으나 모두 정상범위이었고 학교간 차이도 없었다. 결론 : 휘발성 유기화합물 같은 물질에 쉽게 영향을 받을 수 있는 백혈구와 적혈구 등의 혈구세포는 조사시기에 따라 각 학교어린이들간에 혈구세포수의 차이가 유의하게 나타남은 각 학교 어린이들간에 조사시기에 따라 혈구세포수에 영향을 주는 휘발성 유기화합물의 노출량의 차이가 중요한 원인 중 하나일 것으로 추정된다. 향후 혈구세포의 변화의 원인이라 추정되는 휘발성 유기화합물의 기중 농도측정이나 체내 생체지표검사를 통한 노출원 조사를 병행하는 추가적 조사가 필요한 것으로 사료된다. Objectives : To evaluate the hematological changes and the immunological function of children living near the petrochemical estate in Ulsan. Methods : The study subjects comprised of 238 children who consisted of 143 children living near the petrochemical estate and 95 children living in a suburban area. We conducted the hematological examination 3 times, in April, July and October. Also we evaluated the immunological function of some children in July. To confirm differences between schools repeated measures ANOVA of generalized linear model was done controlling age and sex as covariates. Results : The blood cell counts of children showed differences between schools in accordance with the survey month. The total WBC, neutrophil, and lymphocyte counts of children living in a suburban area decreased in July and increased in October again, but those of some children living near the petrochemical estate did not changed distinctly. The RBC counts of children living in a suburban area decreased in July and increased in October again, but those of some children living near the petrochemical estate decreased as time passed. The changes of the amount of hemoglobin of all study subjects were similar with those of RBC. The platelet counts of all study subjects decreased in July and increased in October again. In the generalized linear model, school was a significant independent variable for the total WBC, RBC, and platelet counts, and sex was a significant independent variable for the RBC counts. Age was a significant independent variable for the iymphocyte and platelet counts. P values of all blood cell were statistically significant in interaction variable between the survey month and school, and those of the total WBC, neutrophil, and iymphocyte counts were statistically significant in interaction variable between the survey month and age. The immunological function showed no significant difference between study groups. Conclusions : The total WBC and RBC counts which would be easily affected by volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the atmosphere showed differences between schools in accordance with the survey month. This suggests that the amounts of exposure to VOCs are different among each school children in different months. To ascertain the hematological changes by VOCs, an additional study evaluating the concentrations of atmosphere of VOCs and biological monitoring of some VOCs is needed.

        Decreased Glomerular Filtration Rate is an Independent Predictor of In-Hospital Mortality in Patients With ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction Undergoing Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

        <P><B>Background and Objectives</B></P><P>Patients with renal dysfunction (RD) experience worse prognosis after myocardial infarction (MI). The aim of the present study was to investigate the impact of admission estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) on clinical outcomes of patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for ST-segment elevation MI (STEMI).</P><P><B>Subjects and Methods</B></P><P>We retrospectively evaluated 4,542 eligible patients from the Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry (KAMIR). Patients were divided into three groups according to eGFR (mL/min/1.73 m<SUP>2</SUP>): normal renal function (RF) group (eGFR ≥60, n=3,515), moderate RD group (eGFR between 30 to 59, n=894) and severe RD group (eGFR <30, n=133). Baseline characteristics, angiographic and procedural results, and in-hospital outcomes between the three groups were compared.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Age, gender, Killip class ≥3, hypertension, diabetes, congestive heart failure, peak creatine kinase-MB, high sensitivity C-reactive protein, B-type natriuretic peptide, left ventricle ejection fraction, multivessel disease, infarct-related artery and rate of successful PCI were significantly different between the 3 groups (p<0.05). With decline in RF, in-hospital complications developed with an increasing frequency (14.1% vs. 31.8% vs. 45.5%, p<0.0001). In-hospital mortality rate was significantly higher in the moderate and severe RD groups as compared to the normal RF group (2.3% vs. 13.9% vs. 25.6%, p<0.0001). Using multivariate logistic regression analysis, adjusted odds ratio for in-hospital mortality was 2.67 {95% confidence interval (CI) 1.44-4.93, p=0.002} in the moderate RD group, and 4.09 (95% CI 1.48-11.28, p=0.006) in the severe RD group as compared to the normal RF group.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Decreased admission eGFR was associated with worse clinical courses and it was an independent predictor of in-hospital mortality in STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI.</P>

        Celay/In-Ceram, Conventional In-Ceram, Empress 2 전부도재관의 변연적합도에 관한 비교 연구

        There have been many studies about marginal discrepancy of single restorations made by various systems and materials. But many of statistical inferences are not definite because of sample size, measurement number, measuring instruments. etc. The purpose of this study was to compare the marginal adaptations of the anterior single restorations made by different systems and to consider more desirable statistical methods in analysing the marginal fit. The in vitro marginal discrepancies of three different all-ceramic crown systems (Celay In-Ceram. Conventional In-Ceram. IPS Empress 2 layering technique) and one control group (PFM) were evaluated and compared. The crowns were made from one extracted maxillary central incisor prepared with a 1mm shoulder margin and $6^{\circ}$ taper walls by milling machine. 10 crowns per each system were fabricated. Measurements or a crown were recorded at 50 points that were randomly selected for marginal gap evaluation. Non-parametric statistical analysis was performed for the results. Within the limits of this study, the following conclusions were drawn: 1 Mean gap dimensions and standard deviations at the marginal opening for the maxillary incisor crowns were $98.2{\pm}40.6{\mu}m$ for PFM, $83.5{\pm}18.7{\mu}m$ for Celay In-Ceram, $104.9{\pm}44.1{\mu}m$ for conventional In-Ceram, and $45.5{\pm}11.5{\mu}m$ for IPS Empress 2 layering technique. The IPS Empress 2 system showed the smallest marginal gap (P<0.05). The marginal openings of the other three groups were not significantly different (P<0.05). 2 The marginal discrepancies found in this study were all within clinically acceptable standards ($100\sim150{\mu}m$). 3. When the variable is so controlled that the system may be the only one, mean value is interpreted to be the marginal discrepancy of a restoration which is made by each system and standard deviation is to be technique-sensitivity of each one. 4. From the standard deviations. the copy-milling technique (Celay/In-Ceram) was not considered to be technique-sensitive in comparison with other methods. 5. Parametric analysis is more reliable than non-parametric one in interpretation of the mean and standard deviation. The sample size of each group has to be more than 30 to use parametric statistics. The level of clinically acceptable marginal fit has not been established. Further studies are needed.

        과학 영재 프로그램을 통해 본 과학 관련 태도와 과학 불안도의 관계와 변화

        본 연구는 과학 영재 학생의 과학 관련 태도와 과학 불안도와의 관계가 어떠한 상관을 보이고 있고, 과학 관련 태도와 과학 불안도가 과학 영재 프로그램에 참여하기 전과 참여한 후에 어떻게 변화하는지를 보았다. 이에 따라 과학 영재 교육 프로그램에 참여하고 있는 148명의 중학생들을(남학생 : 95명, 여학생 53명)대상으로 과학 관련 태도 검사와 과학 불안도 검사를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 과학 관련 태도와 과학 불안도의 관계는 사전 검사에서 뚜렷한 부적 상관을 보였으나 사후 검사에서는 부분적으로 정적 상관이 나타났고 영재 프로그램 참여 후 과학 영재들의 과학 관련 태도는 낮아졌고 과학 불안도는 증가하였다. 이 연구의 흥미로운 점은, 여러 선행 연구결과와는 달리 영재 프로그램에 참여한 후 남학생이 여학생보다 과학 관련 태도가 낮아졌고 과학 불안도가 증가하였다는 점이다. This study examined scientifically gifted students' science attitude, anxiety, and their relationship. In addition, sex differences in these variables were investigated. The main interest of the study, however, was to explore how scientifically gifted students' science attitude and anxiety have changed before and after a gifted education experience. One hundred and forty-eight middle school students (95 boys and 53 girls) who enrolled in a gifted education program participated in the present study. The results indicate an increase in science anxiety and a decrease in science attitude after the six-month gifted program experience. Negative correlations between science attitude and anxiety were found in pre-test, but some positive relationship existed in post-test. Interestingly, after the specialized gifted program, male students' science attitudes were lowered significantly. In contrast, there was no statistically significant difference in female students. Results of the study were discussed in relation to the programming issues for the scientifically gifted.

        하계 실내 및 실외환경의 공기 중 휘발성 유기화합물 농도 및 개인노출

        Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are present in essentially all natural and synthetic materials from petrol to flowers. In this study, indoor and outdoor VOCs concentrations of houses, offices and internet-cafes were measured and compared simultaneously with personal exposures of each 50 participants in Asan and Seoul, respectively. Also, factors that influence personal VOCs exposure were statistically analyzed using questionnaires in relation to house characteristics, time activities, and health effects. All VOCs concentrations were measured by OVM passive samplers (3M) and analyzed with GC/MS. Target pollutants among VOCs were Toluene, o-Xylene, m/p-Xylene, Ethylbenzene, MIBK, n-Octane, Styrene, Trichloroethylene, and 1,2-Dichlorobenzene. Indoor and outdoor VOCs concentrations measured in Seoul were significantly higher than those in Asan except Ethylbenzene. Residential indoor/outdoor (I/O) ratios for all target compounds ranged from 0.94 to 1.51 and I/O ratios of Asan were a little higher than those of Seoul. Relationship between personal VOCs exposure, and indoor and outdoor VOCs concentrations suggested that time-activity pattern could affect the high exposure to air pollutant. Factors that influence indoor VOCs level and personal exposure with regard to house characteristics in houses were building age, inside smoking and house type. In addition insecticide and cosmetics interestingly affected the VOCs personal exposure. Higher exposure to VOCs might be caused to be exciting increase and memory reduction, considering the relationship between measured VOCs concentrations and questionnaire (p<0.05).

        초등학생의 성희롱에 대한 인식과 경험

        Purpose : Sexual abuse especially in younger group have been growing. This study was performed to propose the fundamental data for developing early education program to prevent damage from sexual harassment in elementary school students. Method : Questionnaire survey on cognitions and experiences about sexual harassment was done on 3125 elementary school students from seven elementary schools in Busan area from January to March, 2002. Data analysis was done with SPSS (ver 10.0). Results : Though 82% of the students ahve ever herd about sexual harassment previously, but self assessment of 'well-known' was only 5%. About 40% or them have ever experienced audio-visual sexual materials mainly through PC (18%), media (14%), etc. And, 60% of them have ever educated about sexual harassment. In cognitions, they agreed 'Unwanted touch', 'intentional showing his (her) own body', 'send lewd mails and picture', but disagreed 'ask massage from aged', 'gaudy joke' as one of sexual harassment. In attitudes, 'no response', 'defense with friends and family', 'express unpleasantness apparently', were desirable pattern, instead, 'his (her) own reponsibility', 'problem only between person concerned', 'neglect is the best way' were undersirable. About 24% of them have ever experienced at least one of the fifteen types of sexual harassment with major types of lewd mails·pictures (11%), hugging (5%), ask massage (4.7%) and unwanted touch (3.3%). The experience by gender was higher in girls (25.0%) than boys (22.4%) with no statistical significance. The mean level of cognition and attitude out of one hundred was 70.3±28.1 and 73.5±15.9, respectively. The mean frequency of experience was 0.4±1.1 times. The level of cognition and attitude was higher in girls, 6th graders, and in ever educated group (p<0.001). Conclusion : The cognition level of elementary school students about sexual harassment assessed considerable. And, they also experienced several types of sexual harassment, though not too much. Therefore, compatible education program let them able to protect themselves from sexual harassment should be developed and applied even in early school age.

        2급 와동 수복 시 한국 치과 의사들의 복합레진 사용 실태 연구

        본 연구는 2008년 1월 현재 한국 치과의사들의 복합레진 사용 실태에 관한 설문 조사로서, 2급 와동을 수복하는 증례에서 치과의사의 면허 년도, 교육 배경 및 진료환경 등에 따라 수복재료의 선택, 복합레진의 사용여부 및 사용방법, 문제점 등을 비교하였다. 한국 치과의사들을 대상으로 2급 와동 수복에 관한 17 문항의 설문지를 제작하였다. 이 설문지는 시술자 정보 2급 와동의 수복으로 크게 2부분으로 나누어진다. 이 설문지는 대한치과의사협회를 통해 12.193 명의 치과의사들에게 E-메일로 발송되었다. 이 중 2.612개의 메일이 수신 확인되었고 840 개의 설문지가 작성되어 회신되었다. 수신 확인된 메일 수에 대한 회신된 메일 수의 비율 (회신율)은 32.2%이었고, 이 자료는 SPSS프로그램에서 카이제곱 분석을 이용하여 교차 분석하였다. 답변자의 비율은 면허년도를 기준으로 1998 ~ 2007년에 면허를 취득한 그룹 (한국 전체 치과의사의 33 3%, 추정 년령 26-35세)이 60.3%로 1997년 이전에 면허 취득한 그룹 (한국 전체 치과의사의 66.7%.추정 년령 36세 이상)의 39.7%보다 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 이들이 근무하는 병원은 개인의원 (77%)이 가장 많았고 남자 치과의사(79%)가 많았다. 복합레진 수복에 대한 지식은 학생 때 수업이나 학회, 세미나를 통하여 (83.4%) 얻은 것으로 나타났다. 2급 와동 수복 시 재료 선호도를 살펴보면 금인레이가 65.7%를 차지하고 있고 복합레진 직접 수복은 12.1%로 낮게 나타났다. 2급 와동의 복합레진 직접 수복 시 시술 방법에 있어서는 러버댐을 사용하지 않거나 잘 사용하지 않는 그룹의 비율(74.4%)이 더 많았고. 격벽법으로는 mylar strip (53.4%)이나 metal matrix (33.8%), Palodent svstem (6.5%)를 사용하였다. 충전은 적층법 (99.6%)을 사용하는 것으로 나타났으며, 시술 시 인접면 형성을 가장 어려워하였다.(57.2%). 2-step 접착시스템 (76%)이 3-step 접착시스템 (16%)보다 많이 사용되고 있었다. 사용하는 레진 제품으로는 Z250(20%)이 가장 많이 사용되고 있었다. The purpose of this study was to assess the current materials, methods and difficulties according to the year of licence and educational background of Korean dentists in Class Ⅱ direct composite resin restorations. Total 17 questions were included in the questionnaire. Questions were broadly divided into two parts first, operator's information and second the materials and methods used in Class Ⅱ posterior composite restoration. The questionnaire was sent to dentists enrolled in Korean Dental Association via e-mail. Total 12,193 e-mails were distributed to dentists. 2,612 e-mails were opened and 840 mails (32.2%) were received from respondents. The data was statically analyzed by chi-square test using SPSS(v 120.1 SPSS Inc. Chicago. IL USA). Male dentists among respondents was 79% 60.3% of the respondents acquired their licences recently (1998-2007) and 77% practiced in private offices 83.4% have acquired their knowledge through school lectures conferences and seminars. For the Class Ⅱ restorations gold inlays were preferred by 65.7% of respondents while direct composite resin restorations were used by 12.1% amalgam users were only 4.4% of respondents. For the restorative technique 74.4% of respondents didn't use rubber dam as needed. For the matrix. mylar strip (53.4%), metal matrix (33.8%) and Palodent system (6.5%) were used 99.6% of respondents restored the Class Ⅱ cavity by incremental layering. Obtaining of the tight interproximal contact was considered as the most difficult procedure (57.2%) followed by field isolation (21%). Among various bonding systems, 22. 6% of respondents preferred SE Bond and 20.2% used Single Bond. Z-250 was used most frequently among a variety of composite resins.

        The water-soluble glucan prodeced by Lactococcus lactis 1370 affects the formation of dental plaque by Streptococcus mutans. In this study the factors affecting the formation of water-soluble glucan were assessed as the optical density of culture supernatant of Lactococcus lactis 1370 in the spectrophotometer. 1. The optical density of culture supernatant was high when Lactococcus lactis 1370 was cultured in M17 broth with 5% sucrose, while being low in culture supernatant of Streptococcus mutans. 2. The optical density of culture supernatant was higher when Lactococcus lactis 1370 was cultured in M17 broth with 10% sucrose than when being cultured without sucrose (p<0.05), and was higher at pH 7 than pH 5 (p<0.05). 3. The optical density of culture supernatant was the highest at 37℃ among 32℃, 37℃ and 42℃, and was higher in the anaerobic incubator than in the aerobic incubator (p<0.05). 4. The optical density of culture supernatant was the highest in the media containing 1.0mM CaCl2 (p<0.05), 2.5mM KCl (p<0.05), and 1.6 mM MgCl2. 5. When Streptococcus mutans was cultured in the media containing a quarter culture supernatant of Lactococcus lactis 1370 grown in M17 broth, the mean weight of produced artificial plaque was 103.0 mg on the wire, whereas being significantly reduced to 5.6mg in the media containing a quarter culture supernatant of Lactococcus lactis 1370 grown in M17 broth containing 5% sucrose (p<0.05). These results indicate that the water-soluble glucan is more formed by Lactococcus lactis 1370 in the media containing sucrose or under the adequate conditions for the growth of bacteria, and inhibits the formation of artificial plaque by Streptococcus mutans.
