      • Mitochondrial dysfunction and calcium deregulation by the RanBP9-cofilin pathway

        <P>Mitochondrial dysfunction and synaptic damage are important features of Alzheimer's disease (AD) associated with amyloid β (Aβ) and tau. We reported previously that the scaffolding protein RanBP9, which is overall increased in brains of patients with AD and in mutant APP transgenic mice, simultaneously promotes Aβ generation and focal adhesion disruption by accelerating the endocytosis of APP and β1-integrin, respectively. Moreover, RanBP9 induces neurodegeneration <I>in vitro</I> and <I>in vivo</I> and mediates Aβ-induced neurotoxicity. Here we show in primary hippocampal neurons that RanBP9 potentiates Aβ-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) overproduction, apoptosis, and calcium deregulation. Analyses of calcium-handling measures demonstrate that RanBP9 selectively delays the clearance of cytosolic Ca<SUP>2+</SUP> mediated by the mitochondrial calcium uniporter through a process involving the translocation of cofilin into mitochondria and oxidative mechanisms. Further, RanBP9 retards the anterograde axonal transport of mitochondria in primary neurons and decreases synaptic mitochondrial activity in brain. These data indicate that RanBP9, cofilin, and Aβ mimic and potentiate each other to produce mitochondrial dysfunction, ROS overproduction, and calcium deregulation, which leads to neurodegenerative changes reminiscent of those seen in AD.—Roh.         Using the college professorate, which occupies a higher stratum of society, the following statistically analyzed results have been found to be the primary factors influencing self-evaluation of "physical strength" and "exercise capability" which have a great effect on their leisure consciousness and sportsactivity. 1) The chief factors which have an effect on the selfevaluction of "physical strength" of the professorate have been found to have the following ranking; ① the object o sportsactivity. ② marital relations. ③ leisure companion. ④ age. ⑤ blood type. ⑥membership in a sportsclub. ⑦ average monthly income. ⑧ present position. ⑨ major field of study. ⑩ drinking capacity 2) The chief factors which have on effect on the selfevaluation of "exercise capability" of the professorate have been found to have the following ranking; ① leisure companion. ② object of sportsactivity. ③ average monghly income. ④ present position. ⑤ major field of study. ⑥sex. ⑦ sportsactivity place. ⑧ drinking capacity. ⑨ blood type. ⑩ membership in a sportsclub. 3) Consequenty, the chief factors related to sportsactivity occupy a higher position in both "physical strength" and "exercise capability", which shows that the physical strength or the ability to exercise and the healt condition become important factors in sports and leisureactivity.

        The subject of this thesis is on causes and reform plan of corruption of thepower. It is analyzed in the viewpoint of structure and system. And in environment of administrative system, it is understood suchas ⅰ) weakness of the political structure ⅱ) promodern economical structure ⅲ)interest-group tendency of the legal profession ⅳ) weakness of the press structure. As reform plan for corruption of the public office, it is pointed out such as, inadministrative system ⅰ) control-oriented administrative overthrow by theadministrative convenience ⅱ) simplification and transparency of the administrativeprocedure ⅲ)the strict inspection, and in environment of the administrative system,ⅰ) reformation of the political sfructure ⅱ) reformation of the legal profession ⅲ)transparency improvement of the enterprise ⅳ) weakness improvement of the pressagency.

        Recently, increasing leisure time through legislation of 5 day's work in week, bring to the change of leisure activity that is transformed into learning and gaining own's experience from viewing of tour. This article evaluate on Activation of Green Tourism for Development of Region: Application to Seong-ju. Especially, according to development of technology, the importance of green tourism is extended increasingly. So this article evaluate green tourism for urban tourists in Seong-ju. To evaluate the discrepancy between user's expectation and satisfaction degree in green tourism, we infer general solutions to compute the intersection area between importance and satisfictation, then the weak and strong attributes of green tourism is clarified. I believe that this study has a meaning to present a standard for establishing a proper standard about value evaluation and construction of rural tourism for activation of rural region in korea.

        한 합금공장에서 집단 발생환 급성 베릴륨 질환

        목적: 같은 공장에서 일했던 노동자들 중 원인미상의 급성 폐장염 2례가 발견된 것을 계기로 한 합금공장에서 집단 발생한 화학적 폐장염의 원인을 규명하기 위하여 역학조사를 실시하였다. 방법: 연구대상은 한 합금공장에서 일했던 생산직 노동자 45명 전원이었다. 작업환경측정 기록을 검토하고 일반 폐기능검사,흉부방사선 촬영,작업종료후 요중 베릴륨 농도측정을 포함한 특수건강진단을 실시하였고,유증상자와 유소견자 11명에 대하여 이차로 고해상도 컴퓨터 단층 촬영 및 폐확산능 검사를 실시하였다. 결과: 베릴륨의 공기 중 농도를 평가한 결과 베릴륨이 O.42∼112.3 μg/m³이었고, 요중 베릴륨 농도는 용해 (O.53±0.79 μg/g. creatinine),금형(1.41±0.50 μg/g. creatinine),사상(1.16±0.53 μg/g. creatinine)순으로 높았으나 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 없었다. 일차 특수건강진단결과 용해공정은 비용해공정보다 현재 기침 (p=0.054), 호흡곤란(p= 0.030),입사이후 호흡기증상으로 인한 투약경험률(p=0.018)은 모두 용해작업자가 비용해공정보다 높았으며 일반 폐기능 검사결과는 두 군 간에 차이가 없었다. 최종적으로 화학성 폐장염으로 분류된 사람은 모두 11명으로 그 발생률은 용해공정에서 32.0%,비용해 공정에서 5.0%이었다(p=O.012). 2002년 12윌 이전 입사자에서 발생률은 33.3%이었고 그 이후 입사자에서는 환자가 발생하지 않았다(p<O.001). 결론: 급성 폐장염이 대부분이 용해공정에서 발생했고 모두 환기시설이 설치되기 전부터 작업했던 점으로 보아 이는 급성 베릴륨질환의 가능성이 매우 높다 이는 적절한 작업환경관리로 충분히 예방할 수 있는 질병이므로 앞으로 이러한 문제를 예방하기 위한 정책적 대안을 제시하였다. Objectives: We conducted an epidemiological survey to inquire into an outbreak of acute pneumonitis after two reported cases of interstitial lung disease. Methods: The study subjects were 45 workers from a compound metal alloy factory. We reviewed the factory's industrial hygiene data along with the results of a special health examination, including pulmonary function tests, simple chest X-rays, and high resolution computed tomography. Results: The air concentrations of beryllium ranged from 0.42 μg/m³ to 112.3 μg/m³, and the mean concentration of urinary beryllium were 1.53±0.79μg/g of creatinine in the molding workers, 1.41±0.50μg/g, of creatinine in the casting workers, and 1.16±0.53μg/g of creatinine in the sorting workers. The rates for cough (p=0.054), dyspnea (P=0.030), and the use of medical services (p=0.018) were higher in the molding workers than in the non-molding workers. The incidence rate of acute interstitial lung disease was higher for the molding process (32.0%) than for the non-molding process (5.0%) (P=0.012). The time of employment for all patients was prior to December 1^(st), 2002. Conclusions: Since most of the patients were molding workers, and all of the patients had worked without a ventilation system, this outbreak of acute interstitial lung disease was regarded as acute beryllium disease. Although the direct cause of the epidemic was the beryllium fumes, the fundamental cause was improper control of the work environment. Therefore, the means for preventing avoidable epidemics of occupational diseases are discussed.

        In the view of the results investigated the effect of air pollutants that is emitted from a new generator facilities, the total estimated concentration which is the summation of a contributional concentration and observational concentration is much less than that of atmospheric environment criterion for the air pollutants. So we can predict that the operation of the new generator facilities with mitigation equipment don't seriously affect around environment. At the same time, we compared the contributional concentration of before mitigation equipment with that of after it to examine the decreasing amount due to mitigation equipment. The result showed that the concentration of SO2, NO2 and PM-10 is reduced to 25%, 30% and 26% of original value, respectively.

        A High-Power Step-up Converter with High Efficiency and Fast Control-to-Output Dynamics

        A new high-power step-up based on the two-module parallel-input/senes-output (PISO) modular dual inductor-fed push-pull converter is proposed The proposed converter is operated at a constant duty cycle and employs an auxiliary circuit to control the output voltage with a phase-shift between two modules It shows a high efficiency due to the greatly reduced switch turn-off stress It also shows a high and linear voltage conversion ratio, low current stress in the output capacitor, and fast control-to-output dynamics The operation principles and the mathematical models of the proposed converter are presented. Features of the proposed converter are discussed in comparison with the two-module PISO modular dual inductor-fed push-pull converter Also, experimental results from a 50kHz, 800W, 350Vdc prototype with an input voltage range of 20 - 32Vdc are provided to confirm the validity of the proposed converter The new converter compares favorably with the conventional counterpart, and is considered well suited to high-power step-up applications.

      • 심전도에서 조기재분극을 보인 특발성 심실세동

        Early repolarization is a common electrocardiographic (ECG) feature found in young adults, men and athletes, and has been considered to be a benign feature for the last several decades. But recent studies suggest that early repolarization may be related to idiopathic ventricular fibrillation and sudden cardiac death. We report a young man, 35 years old, who had life threatening ventricular fibrillation and sudden cardiac arrest. He was evaluated for cardiac causes of ventricular fibrillation. There was no explanation other than that his ECG showed an early repolarization pattern so we treated him with implantable cardioverter defibrillator. Thus, we suggest that early repolarization may be related with life threatening ventricular arrhythmia.
