Many forest pests present a problem during wood quarantine. The effectiveness of phosphine (PH3), which is an altered form of MB, was examined in Monochamus saltuaris and M. alternatus. After 24 h, the larvae and the adults of both insects were susceptible to PH3 at 3 mg/L at 20°C. However, the larvae of both pests were rather than dead, seem to have been quiescent condition. PH3 showed increasing insecticidal activity in a time-dependent manner in the larva stage of both pests. We investigated the fumigants at all stages of M. saltuaris and M. alternatus, as well as the synergistic effects of PH3 in controlled atmospheres of 50% and 80% oxygen. The atmospheric oxidation of PH3 fumigation slightly increased the toxicity of the fumigant to larva stages in 125 L container at 4 mg/L. These results indicate that highly concentrated atmospheric oxidation of PH3 could be useful as a fumigant agent against M. saltuaris and M. alternatus.

Selective and Regenerative Carbon Dioxide Capture by Highly Polarizing Porous Carbon Nitride

<P>Energy-efficient CO<SUB>2</SUB> capture is a stringent demand for green and sustainable energy supply. Strong adsorption is desirable for high capacity and selective capture at ambient conditions but unfavorable for regeneration of adsorbents by a simple pressure control process. Here we present highly regenerative and selective CO<SUB>2</SUB> capture by carbon nitride functionalized porous reduced graphene oxide aerogel surface. The resultant structure demonstrates large CO<SUB>2</SUB> adsorption capacity at ambient conditions (0.43 mmol·g<SUP>–1</SUP>) and high CO<SUB>2</SUB> selectivity against N<SUB>2</SUB> yet retains regenerability to desorb 98% CO<SUB>2</SUB> by simple pressure swing. First-principles thermodynamics calculations revealed that microporous edges of graphitic carbon nitride offer the optimal CO<SUB>2</SUB> adsorption by induced dipole interaction and allows excellent CO<SUB>2</SUB> selectivity as well as facile regenerability. Recently, as large structures, which should support large design loads have been constructed, the study on the large diameter composite pile becomes necessary. The large diameter composite pile has the diameter over 700㎜ and consists of two parts of the upper steel pipe pile and the lower PHC pile by a mechanical joint. In this research, to analyze the bearing mpacity and the material strength of the composite pile, three dimensional numerical analyses were performed. First, the numerical modeling method was verified by comparing the calculated load-movement curves of the pile with those of the field pile load tests. Then, a total of twelve analyses were peiformed by varying pile diameter and loading direction for three pile types of PHC, steel pipe and composite piles. The results showed that the vertical and the horizontal load-movement curves of the composite pile were identical with those of the steel pipe pile and the horizontal material strength of the composite pile was 60-80% larger than that of the PHC pile.

The retrotransposon marY1 is a gypsy family retroelement, which is detected ubiquitously within the fungal taxonomic groups in which mushrooms are included. To utilize marY1 as a molecular marker for the DNA fingerprinting of mushrooms, oligonucleotides marY1-LTR-L and marY1-LTR-R were designed on the basis of highly conserved regions from the multiple sequence alignment of 30 marY1 sequences retrieved from a nucleotide sequence database. In accordance with Retrotransposon Microsatellite Amplified Polymorphism (REMAP) fingerprinting methodology, the two oligonucleotides were utilized together with the short sequence repeat primers UBC807 and UBC818 for polymerase chain reaction using templates from different mushroom genomic DNAs. Among the tested oligonucleotides, the marY1-LTR-L and UBC807 primer set yielded the greatest amount of abundance and variation in terms of DNA band numbers and patterns. This method was successfully applied to 10 mushroom species, and the primer set successfully discriminated between different commercial mushroom cultivars of the same strains of 14 Pleurotus ostreatus and 16 P. eryngii. REMAP reproducibility was superior to other popular DNA fingerprinting methodologies including the random amplified polymorphic DNA method.
원전 안전문화 RDM (Robust Data Mining) 분석 방법 연구

원자력 발전소의 운영 및 관리기술과 안전성확보를 위한 다양한 기술들이 연구 발전되어 왔으나, 근본적인 인적 오류 및 안전문화와 관련된 심층 연구는 다소 부족한 실정이다. 체르노빌 원전 사고 이후 IAEA를 중심으로 안전문화에 대한 연구가 활발하게 이루어져 왔으며, 국내에서도 최근 고리원자력발전소의 SBO(Station black out) 사건과 위조부품 및 원전비리 등의 심각한 국내 문제를 해결하기 위하여 안전문화적 문제가 대두되고 있다. 하지만, 안전문화적 위해요인의 정의 및 정량화 방법의 어려움 등으로 인하여 아직 까지 주목할 만한 연구성과를 도출하지 못하고 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 원자력 발전소의 안전문화 위해요인을 체계적으로 도출하고 정량화 및 분석 할 수 있는 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 우선, 본 연구에서는 IAEA 및 KINS 등의 국·내외 연구 결과를 바탕으로, 체계적 안전문화 위해요인 도출 및 정량화 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 특히, ISAG-4에서 제시하고 있는 안전문화 지표와 국·내외 원자력 기구에서 제시하고 있는 지표들과의 비교연구를 바탕으로, 측정 가능한 on-line data를 스크리닝하여 제시하고자 한다. 아울러, 안전문화적 측면의 위해요인을 효과적으로 분석하기 위한 RDM(Robust data mining) 기법을 제시하고자 한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 RDM 기법은 Data mining 방법과 통계적 방법을 이용하여 기존 통계학적 분석이 가진 단점의 하나인 위해요인 분석에서 발생 할 수 있는 차원(Dimensionality)를 효과적으로 줄이고, 심층적 통계분석을 수행 할 수 있다.
Observation of magnetoconductivity with terahertz probes for ferromagnetic Fe films

Ultrafast characterization of spin-dependent transport behavior in ferromagnetic systems without contact probes has been of strong demand, recently. We have experimentally investigated spin-dependent complex conductivity for ferromagnetic Fe films of various thickness by means of terahertz time-domain transmission spectroscopy. Comparison of the transmitted terahertz wave amplitude and the spin-dependent conductivity reveals that the magnetization state of films effectively determines the complex conductivity. Non-invasive observation of spin-dependent conductivity by contact-free terahertz probe method is proven to be promising in further investigating spintronic materials, particularly on an ultrafast timescale.
