        마라톤 동호인과 일반인의 체력 및 건강관련 변인의 비교

        본 연구는 크게 두 가지의 과제로 구성되어 있다. 제 1과제에서는 중년 남성 마라톤 동호인 45명과 운동습관이 없는 일반인 30명을 대상으로 체격 및 체력수준을 비교하였다. 측정항목은 신장, 체중, 신체질량지수, 체지방률, 1200m달리기, 윗몸일으키기, 팔굽혀펴기, 앉아 윗몸앞으로굽히기, 제자리멀리뛰기, 그리고 50m달리기였다. 제 2과제에서는 중년 남성 마라톤 동호인 15명과 운동습관이 없는 일반인 8명을 대상으로 최대산소섭취량, 젖산역치 수준에서의 산소섭취량, 젖산역치 수준에서의 심박수, 1초 강제 호기량, 그리고 혈액변인을 비교하였다. 두 집단의 데이터를 비교하여 분석한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 마라톤 동호인과 일반인의 체격을 비교한 결과 체중, 신체질량지수, 가슴 피부두겹 두께, 복부와 대퇴 피부두겹 두께, 그리고 체지방률은 마라톤 동호인이 일반인에 비해 유의하게 낮게 나타났다. 2. 마라톤 동호인과 일반인의 체력을 비교한 결과 윗몸일으키기, 팔굽혀펴기, 앉아윗몸앞으로굽히기, 제자리멀리뛰기, 50m달리기, 그리고 1200m달리기 모두 마라톤 동호인이 일반인에 비해 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 3. 마라톤 동호인과 일반인의 호흡순환계 변인을 비교한 결과는 최대산소섭취량, 최대심박수, 그리고 VO2LT에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 그러나 HR(LT), FEV1.0은 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 4. 마라톤 동호인과 일반인의 대사관련 변인을 비교한 결과 TG, 그리고 HDL-C는 유의한 차이가 나타났으나, 혈중 글루코스, 인슐린, FFA, TC, 그리고 LDL-C에서는 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 이상의 결과를 종합해 볼 때, 마라톤 동호인이 일반인에 비해 높은 체력 및 건강수준을 갖고 있는 것으로 나타나 마라톤 동호회 활동이 건강 유지 및 증진, 노화의 지연에 긍정적인 효과가 있을 것으로 판단 되어 진다. 따라서 일반인들이 건강한 삶을 위해 마라톤 동호회의 활동에 적극적으로 참여하기 위한 다양한 방법이 강구되어야 할 것으로 사료된다. The purposes of the study were twofold. The first study was designed to compare physical fitness between 45 marathon club participants(MCP) and 30 general individuals(GI) who have not participated in any systematic exercise training before. Test items in the first study included the standing height, body weight, body mass index, percent body fat, 1200m run/walk, sit-up, push up, sit-and-reach, standing long jump, and 50m dash. The second study was designed to compare maximal oxygen consumption, maximal heart rate, oxygen consumption at lactate threshold(VO2LT), heart rate at lactate threshold(HR(LT)), forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1.0), and blood variables between 15 MCP and eight GI. All data obtained in the two studies were analyzed by independent-t test and the results were as follows: 1) The body weight, body mass index, chest thickness, abdomen thickness, anterior thigh thickness, and percent body fat of MCP were significantly lower than them of GI. 2) Sit-up, push up, sit-and-reach, standing long jump, 50m dash, and 1200m run/walk of MCP were significantly superior than them of GI. 3) There were significant differenced in maximal oxygen consumption, maximal heart rate, and VO2LT between the two groups. However, there was not significant difference in HR(LT), and FEV1.0 between the two groups. 4) There were significant differences in TG, and HDL-C between the two groups, whereas no significant difference was found in blood glucose, insulin, free fatty acid, TC, and LDL-C between the two groups. The aforementioned results indicated that MCP had higher level of physical fitness than them of GI, concluding that the activities in the marathon club could enhance health and physical fitness and prevent aging. The efforts should put for the general individuals into participate sports club activities.

        Kidney Toxicity Induced by 13 Weeks Exposure to the Fruiting Body of Paecilomyces sinclairii in Rats

        Paecilomyces sinclairiis (PS) is known as a functional food or human health supplement. However concerns have been raised about its kidney toxicity. This study was performed to investigate the kidney toxicity of PS by 13 week-oral administration to rats. Blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine, and kidney damage biomarkers including beta-2-microglobulin (${\beta}2m$), glutathione S-transferase alpha (GST-${\alpha}$), kidney injury molecule 1 (KIM-1), tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase 1 (TIMP-1), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), calbindin, clusterin, cystatin C, neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) and osteopontin were measured during or after the treatment of PS. BUN, creatinine and kidney damage biomarkers in serum were not changed by PS. However, kidney cell karyomegaly and tubular hypertrophy were observed dose-dependently with higher severity in males. KIM-1, TIMP-1 and osteopontin in kidney and urine were increased dose dependently in male or at the highest dose in female rats. Increased urinary osteopontin by PS was not recovered at 2 weeks of post-exposure in both genders. Cystatin C in kidney was decreased at all treatment groups but inversely increased in urine. The changes in kidney damage biomarkers were more remarkable in male than female rats. These data indicate that the PS may provoke renal cell damage and glomerular filtration dysfunction in rats with histopathological lesions and change of kidney damage biomarkers in kidney or urine. Kidney and urinary KIM-1 and cystatin C were the most marked indicators, while kidney weight, BUN and creatinine and kidney damage biomarkers in serum were not influenced.

        전통누룩 진균류를 이용한 입국의 제조 및 입국곰팡이의 동정

        다양한 향미를 가진 막걸리의 개발을 위해 전통누룩으로부터 분리한 곰팡이로 입국을 제조한 후 품질특성을 분석하여 입국의 규격에 적합하며 이취가 없고 관능이 우수한 9균주를 입국 제조용 우수균주로 최종 선발하였다. 선발된 균주는 Aspergillus oryzae(C1-5-2-2, C20-7-3, CN1.3.1-4, CN16.19.1-1, N152-1, N220-1), Mycocladus corymbiferus (N162-2), Rhizopus oryzae(N20), Lichtheimia corymbifera (N21)로 동정되었으며, 제조한 입국의 산도는 5.0~6.8, 당화력은 128~241sp이었다. Various koji were prepared by fungi isolated from traditional nuruk and their quality characteristics were investigated. Acidity and saccharification power of their koji were ranged in 5.0~6.8 and 128sp~241sp. Nine fungi which were showed good quality and sensory evaluation were identified by analysis of their nucleotide sequences with PCR-amplified 18S rDNA internal transcribed spacer-1(ITS-1) and ITS-4 genes. Among them, six strains were identified as Aspergillus oryzae and the other strains were identified as Mycocladus corymbiferus, Rhizopus oryzae, Lichtheimia corymbifera.

        한국인과 미국인의 생애주기별 칼슘섭취 현황 비교

        Calcium intake has been insufficient in all age groups in previous Korean national surveys. This study was conducted to investigate calcium intake in Korean and American populations at different ages. We analyzed two national survey data: the 2007∼2009 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) and the 2007∼2008 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Statistically, survey procedures were applied using the weight, cluster, and strata variables. The mean calcium intake of Koreans at ages of 1∼2 y, 3∼5 y, 6∼11 y, 12∼18 y, 19∼64 y, and 65+y was lower than American populations at those ages. The sufficient proportions based on Korean Estimated Average Requirement (EAR) of 1∼2 y, 3∼5 y, 6∼11 y, 12∼18 y, 19∼64 y, and 65+y in Koreans were 45.5%, 33.1%, 24.3%, 16.6%, 32.7%, and 19.0%. While the sufficient rates based on American EAR of 1∼3 y, 4∼8 y, 9∼13 y, 14∼18 y, 19∼30 y, 31∼50 y, 51∼70 y, and 71+y in US population were 88.5%, 54.4%, 35.2%, 35.8%, 55.3%, 55.2%, 40.6%, and 24.5%. Overall, the major foods contributing to calcium intakes in Koreans were milk, baechukimchi, and anchovies, whereas, milk products, pasta, or bread were major contributions to calcium in American populations. The calcium supplement intakes in the American population were 5.5 mg (1∼2 y), 15.5 mg (3∼5 y), 13.9 mg (6∼11 y), 35.7 mg (12∼18 y), 150.3 mg (19∼64 y) and 334.4 mg (≥65 y). These results suggest that Korean adolescents and older adults are the most insufficient in dietary calcium intakes among Koreans. In order to accurately estimate calcium intakes in Korean populations, calcium supplements and calcium-fortified foods should be considered.

        Host-feeding pattern and dengue virus detection of <i>Aedes albopictus</i> (Diptera: Culicidae) captured in an urban park in Korea

        <P>Aedes albopictus is well known to transmit dengue and chikungunya viruses. Recent report that Zika virus is meditated by this mosquito highlights the importance of Ae. albopictus to human health worldwide. To elucidate the transmission dynamics of pathogens through blood feeding behavior of Ae. albopictus, we investigated blood meal sources and examined the dengue virus infection rate in field-captured Ae. albopictus. This study was conducted in an urban park in Seoul, a metropolitan city with high population density and significant floating population and a region with high risk of dengue virus transmission. Mosquitoes were collected twice a month from May through October in 2015 using BG-Sentinel traps. The collected Ae. albopictus were used in blood meal source analysis and dengue virus detection, whereas in other captured mosquito species, only those fed on blood were used for blood meal source analysis. A total of 54,682 mosquitoes representing 7 genera and 12 species were collected. The blood meal sources for Ae. albopictus included mammals (71%), birds (26%), amphibians (2%), and fish (1%). In mammals, the major blood meal source was humans (61.1%). No dengue virus was detected in captured samples. However, since the results for blood meal source indicate that Ae. albopictus feed almost exclusively on humans, this mosquito is likely to become a major vector of dengue virus, once this virus enters the mosquito.</P>

      • A case of pigmented squamous cell carcinoma on the pubic area

        A 62-year-old woman presented with a well-circumscribed, dark brown-to-black colored, round shaped, elevated patch with 8 mm sized in diameter on the pubic area. The size of the lesion had been enlarged from a few years ago. In histopathologic examination, acantholysis and proliferation of atypical keratinocytes were observed. The tumor cells with abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm and multiple mitotic nuclei penetrated into the upper dermis. The abundant melanin pigment was observed in epidermis diffusely. The final diagnosis was pigmented microinvasive squamous cell carcinoma. The lesion was completely removed surgically with adequate margins. Pigmented squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a rare variant of SCC with 0.01% to 7% prevalence in SCC. Pigmented SCC can be misdiagnosed with benign or malignant melanocytic neoplasms due to similarities of clinical features and its rarity. We report the rare case of pigmented SCC clinically suspicious for melanocytic nevus.

      • Influence of Insulation Type on In-Plane Shear Behavior of Insulated Concrete Sandwich Panels (ICSP) with GFRP Grid Shear Connectors

        <P>This paper reports the experimental results to evaluate in-plane shear performance of insulated concrete sandwich panel (ICSP) with glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) grid shear connectors. The variables considered in this study are the grid size (35 and 53mm) of GFRP shear connectors and the types of insulation (expanded polystyrene, EPS and extruded polystyrene with special slots, XPSS). For loading in-plane shear force to interface between inner and outer wall of ICSP system, the ICSP specimens were supported vertically at the bottom edge of the two concrete outer walls by steel blocks. The test results indicate that ICSP with XPSS developed higher shear flow strengths in ICSP with EPS when 35mm spacing of GFRP grid is used. Also, the test results indicated that as the grid spacing of GFRP shear connector decreases, the shear flow strength of ICSP with XPSS insulation was higher, but the shear flow strength of ICSP with EPS insulation was lower.</P>

      • Cloned Placenta of Korean Native Calves Died Suddenly at Two Months after Birth Displays Differential Protein Expression

        Cloned calves derived from somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) have been frequently lost by sudden death at 1 to 3 month following healthy birth. To address whether placental anomalies are responsible for the sudden death of cloned calves, we compared protein patterns of 2 placentae derived from SCNT of Korean Native calves died suddenly at two months after birth and those of 2 normal placentae obtained from AI fetuses. Placental proteins were separated using 2-Dimensional gel electrophoresis. Approximately 800 spots were detected in placental 2-D gel stained with coomassie-blue. Then, image analysis of Malanie III (Swiss Institute for Bioinformatics) was performed to detect variations in protein spots between normal and SCNT placentae. In the comparison of normal and SCNT samples, 8 spots were identified to be up-regulated proteins and 24 spots to be down-regulated proteins in SCNT placentae, among which proteins were high mobility group protein HMG1, apolipoprotein A-1 precursor, bactenecin 1, tropomyosin beta chain, $H^+-transporting$ ATPase, carbonic anhydrase II, peroxiredoxin 2, tyrosine-rich acidic matrix protein, serum albumin precursor and cathepsin D. These results suggested that the sudden death of cloned calves might be related to abnormal protein expression in placenta.
