Partial Least Squares (PLS) calibration performance has been systematically investigated by changing spectral resolutions of near-infrared (NIR) spectra. For this purpose, synthetic samples simulating naphtha were prepared to examine the calibration performance in complex chemical matrix. These samples were composed of $C_6-C_9$ normal paraffin, iso-paraffin, naphthene, and aromatic hydrocarbons. NIR spectra with four different resolutions of 4, 8, 16, and 32$cm^{-1}$ were collected and then PLS regression was performed. For PLS calibration, five different group compositions (such as total paraffin content) and six different pure components (such as benzene concentration) were selected. The overall results showed that at least 8$cm^{-1}$ resolution was required to resolve the complex chemical matrix such as naphtha. It was found that the influence of resolution on the PLS calibration was varied by the spectral features of a component.
아시아 주식시장과 글로벌 시장의 연계성에 관한 연구 -TVP 회귀모형을 중심으로-

본 연구는 TVP 회귀모형을 이용하여 아시아 주식시장과 글로벌 시장의 연계성에 관하여 실증적으로 분석하였다. 1997년부터 2007년까지의 아시아 7개국(일본, 싱가포르, 한국, 대만, 중국, 인도, 베트남)의 월별 지수수익률 자료를 대상으로 분석하였다. 지수자료는 MSCI가 제공하는 달러 표시 국가별 지수이다. 다만 베트남의 경우에는 베트남 증권거래소가 발표하는 VN 지수자료를 이용하였다. 글로벌 지수는 MSCI의 World 지수, US 지수, 그리고 Pacific 지수를 이용하였다. 주요 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아시아 주식시장과 글로벌 시장 간의 수익률의 상관계수는 기간에 따라 크게 달라졌다. 이러한 상관계수는 글로벌 지수 계산에서 선진국으로 분류되는가, 혹은 신흥시장으로 분류되는가에 따라서도 영향을 받았다. 둘째, TVA 회귀모형의 hyper parameter 추정치는 글로벌 주식시장에 대한 아시아시장의 민감도의 변화 범위를 나타내는데, 이러한 추정치가 국가별에 따라, 그리고 이용된 글로벌 지수에 따라 크게 달라졌다. 셋째, 글로벌 지수에 대한 아시아의 선진국(일본과 싱가포르) 지수수익률의 민감도는 상대적으로 높고 안정적이었다. 이는 아시아 선진국과 글로벌 시장의 연계성이 높다는 것을 보여주는 것이다. 그러나 글로벌 시장에 대한 아시아 신흥시장(한국, 대만, 중국, 인도)의 지수수익률의 민감도는 넓은 범위 내에서 등락하였다. This paper investigates the linkages of Asian stock market with global market using time varying parameters regression model. Monthly index return data of seven Asian countries (Japan, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, China, India, and Vietnam) are tested during the period from 1997 to 2007. All of the index data are dollar denominated country index data provided by MSCI, except Vietnam index. Global market returns are measured as MSCI World Index return, MSCI Pacific index return, and MSCI US Index return. The major findings of this paper are as follows. First, the correlations between Asian index returns and global index returns vary significantly according to the sub-periods under consideration. The correlations are also affected by the status of classification as a developed country or an emerging market in the global index computation. Second, the estimator of hyper parameters of time varying parameters regression model shows that the ranges of variability of sensitivities of Asian index returns to the global index returns are different according to countries and global indices. Some of sensitivities are very stable, while others are very unstable. Third, the sensitivities of the developed country in Asia (i.e. Japan and Singapore) to the global index returns are relatively high (above 1.0) and stable, which implies high linkage of the developed country with the global market. But the sensitivities of the emerging market in Asia (i.e. Korea, Taiwan, China, and India) to the global index fluctuate within a wide range.

Cushing's syndrome that is caused by an adenoma of the corticotrape cells of the anterior pituitay or, rarely, by couticotrope hyperplasia is refered to as Cushing's disease. Cushings disease is usually characterized by chronic, moderate hypersecretion of ACTH and other POMC derived peptide. Most patients have ACTH-secreting anterior pituitary corticotrope microadenomas, but a small minority have a pituitary macroadenoma. We recently experenced two cases of Cushings disease due to pituitary macroadenoma. and report this cases with review of literatures. (J Kor Soc Endocrinol 13:83-93, 1998)
Relationship of Pain, Disability and Quality of Life in Individual with Neck and Shoulder Pain

Purpose: This study was to investigate the correlation between pain, disability and quality of life among adolescents and office workers with neck and shoulder pain. Methods: Twenty-four subjects (mean age=24.92 years, SD=3.94, range=20-37) with neck and shoulder pain participated in this study. The outcome measures of the study were visual analogue scale (VAS), neck disability index (NDI), shoulder pain and disability index (SPADI), short form-36 (SF-36) for neck and shoulder pain and disability, quality of life. Pearson`s correlation and Speaman`s rank correlation were used to measure the association between VAS and NDI, SPADI, SF-36. Results: The VAS showed a positive correlation between weak to moderate with the NDI and SPADI, but no significantly correlated (ρ=0.34, ρ=0.25). The moderate positive correlation and significant correlation were observed between NDI and SPADI (ρ=0.43, p<0.05). The PCS of SF-36 was significantly negative correlated with the VAS (ρ=-0.24), NDI and SPADI (ρ=-0.63, ρ=-0.59, p<0.05). Conclusion: The pain and disability of neck and shoulder has closely relevance. And, the pain and disability of neck and shoulder has a negative impact on the quality of life.

Sulfisoxazole, $C-{11}H_{13}N_{3}S$, crystallized in the orthohombic system, space group Pbca, with a = 14.492(1), b = 11.563(1), c = 14.900(2) $\AA$ and Z = 8. Intensities for 1867(1360 observed) unique reflections were measured on a four-circle diffractometer wirh CuKa radiation ($\lambda$ = 1.5418$\AA$). The structure was solved by heavy atom methods and refined by full-matrix least-squares procedures to a final R of 0.094. The benzene ring plane makes an angle of $68^{\circ}C$ with the plane of the isoxazole ring, which is plannar. The conformational angle formed by the torsional angle C(4)-S-N(2)-C(7) is $54^{\circ}C$. There are two intermolecular hydrogen bonds in the structure. One of them is of the type N-H...H with the length 2.915$\AA$. Thus two dimensional networks of hydrogen bonds form infinite moelcular sheets parallel to the (001) plane. Adjacent sheets are bound together by van der Waals forces.
