본 연구에서는 1922년부터 2019년까지 동래온천수의 장기적인 온천수 수질 변화 특성을 살펴보았다. Mann-Kendall 분석과 Sen의 기울기에 의해서 동래온천수의 장기적인 수질 특성 변화를 분석하면, 온도, Ca, SiO<sub>2</sub>, HCO<sub>3</sub>는 증가 추세를 보이는 반면에 EC, Na, K, Mg, Cl, SO<sub>4</sub>은 감소 추세를 보이거나 또는 거의 추세 변화를 보이지 않는다. 동래온천수의 수질유형은 시간경과에도 변하지 않고 Na-Cl형에 안정적으로 속하고 있다. 2004년, 2009년, 2014년, 2019년의 수질 자료를 이용한 공간 분포도에 의하면, 시기별로 변동을 보이며, 시료 채취 지점에 따라 값의 변화를 보인다. 이는 장기적인 온천수 개발에도 불구하고 동래온천수의 공간적인 수질 특성은 거의 일정하다는 것을 지시한다. In this study, Long-term change of water quality in Donrae Hot Spring was characterized using water quality data from 1922 to 2019. According to Mann-Kendall analysis and Sen's slope using long-term water quality data of Dongnae Hot Spring from 1922 to 2019, temperature, Ca, SiO<sub>2</sub>, and HCO<sub>3</sub> show an increasing trend whereas EC, Na, K, Mg, Cl, and SO<sub>4</sub> show a decreasing trend or negligible trend. In addition, the water type of Dongnae Hot Spring stably belongs to Na-Cl type over time. The spatial distributions of water temperature and chemical constituents in 2004, 2009, 2014, and 2019 show variable patterns with showing some difference depending on sampling locations in different years. These results indicate that despite the long-term pumping of the hot spring water, the water quality is quite stable during the entire study period.

In this study, to resolve the formation of manganese ions (Mn2+) and radical products of the 1-naptholremoval reaction via birnessite, humin was oxidized in a potassium permanganate solution to synthesizehumin–manganese oxides (Ox–Hu/d-MnO2). Experiments were performed to compare the radical productsand 1-napthol removal efficiencies of Ox–Hu/d-MnO2 with different humin ratios (250–1000 mg),Ox–Hu, and d-MnO2. In the 12.5 mg loading/batch experiment, the 1-napthol reaction rate constant(k1 = 0.12) was over three times higher for Ox–Hu/d-MnO2 (250 mg) than for Ox–Hu/d-MnO2 (500–1000 mg) and the absorbed Mn2+ was effectively eluted in the reacted solution (Mn2+ < 0.025 mg/L). High-performance liquid chromatography results of extracted mediator reaction products revealed thatmost of the 1-napthol and polymer reaction products (e.g, 1,4-napthoquinon) were recovered from Ox–Hu and d-MnO2 but not from Ox–Hu/d-MnO2, confirming that the residues were strongly bound in Ox–Hu/d-MnO2. Therefore, Ox–Hu/d-MnO2 enhanced the 1-napthol removal efficiency via the d-MnO2 mediatedoxidation coupling reaction and by irreversible sorption to humin. In this study, the stability ofbound residues contributes significantly to the proposed method by disposing mediators after thetreatment.

Recently experimental scientific problem solving skills and scientific attitude have been emphasized on the science education. The method of evaluation of the skill and the attitude, however, has not been much introduces to the science teachers. In this paper the domains, the objectives and the methods of evaluation of physics in high school were discussed related with Piagetian formal operational pattern. The objectives of knowledge and comprehension were divided into six parts according to the Piagetian logical thinking pattern. The objectives of the problem solving skills however were divided into twenty parts. Related with the scientific attitues, the cognitive (analytical and empirical), the value (judgement, commending) and the attitude (emotional response, personal likes) were also discussed in this paper.

The emphasis given to experimental problem-solving skills in the physics curriculum innovation has not been matched by the development of the evaluation istruments. The purpose of this study is to develope the instrument for high school physics teaching. The instrument consists of twenty-two pencil-paper test problems of the unit, "force and motion", in the textbook physics I. These problems are related to integrated process skills and logical thinking ability, and they are classified by means of Piagentian type of logic patterns. The instrument was applied to three high school senior classes. Two hundred ninety five students in total participated in this test. The results of the application showed a considerably good relationship between the score of the test and the intelligence quotient (r=0.7). The reasoning ability was, however, very poor.

In this study, physical characteristics of cement and/or concrete materials that are typically used for energy-foundation (EF) structures have been studied. The thermal conductivity and structural integrity of the cement-based materials were examined, which are commonly encountered in backfilling a vertical ground heat exchangers, cast-in-place concrete piles and concrete lining in tunnel. For this purpose the thermal conductivity and unconfined compression strength of cement-based materials with various curing conditions were experimentally estimated and compared. Hydration heat generated from massive concrete in the cast-in-place concrete energy pile was observed for 4 weeks to estimate its dissipation time in the underground. The hydration heat may mask the in-situ thermal response test (TRT) result performed in the cast-in-place concrete energy pile. It is concluded that at least two weeks are needed to dissipate the hydration heat in this case. In addition, a series of numerical analysis was performed to compare the effect of thermal property of the concrete material on the cast-in-place pile.
An Insufficient Preoperative Diagnosis of Borrmann Type 4 Gastric Cancer in Spite of EMR

Borrmann type 4 gastric cancers are notorious for the difficulty of finding cancer cells in the biopsy samples obtained from gastrofiberscopy. It is important to obtain the biopsy results for making surgical decisions. In cases with Borrmann type 4 gastric cancer, even though the radiological findings (such as an upper gastrointestinal series, abdominal computed tomography and positron emission tomography/computed tomography) or the macroscopic findings of a gastrofiberscopy examination imply a high suspicion of cancer, there can be difficulty in getting the definite pathologic results despite multiple biopsies. In these cases, we have performed endoscopic mucosal resection under gastrofiberscopy as an alternative to simple biopsies. Here we report on a case in which no cancer cells were found even in the endoscopic mucosal resection specimen, but the radiologic evidence and clinical findings were highly suspicious for gastric cancer. The patient finally underwent total gastrectomy with lymph node resection, and she was pathologically diagnosed as having stage IV gastric cancer postoperatively.

Tyrosine kinase inhibitors are widely used as targeted treatments for various malignancies. Sorafenib is an orally active tyrosine kinase inhibitor that blocks the signaling pathways of several growth factors. Its use is approved for various malignancies such as unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma, renal cell carcinoma, and gastrointestinal stromal tumors. Several adverse effects have been reported in the literature; however, cardiotoxicity is rare. We present a case of recurrent coronary vasospasm caused by short-term administration (5 days) of sorafenib. Since it caused refractory ischemia after re-administration, we had no choice but to stop the treatment. (J Liver Cancer 2020;20:67-71)
