        In recent years, gonorrhea has been pandemic and remains one of the most common STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of Penicillinase Producing Neisseria gonorrhoeae(PPNG), we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the Venereal Disease Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by menas of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. In 1998, 93 strians of N. genorrhoeae were isolated, among which 60(64.5%) were PPNG. The prevalence of PPNG in Seoul, which had been decreased to 39% in 1996 after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, is increased to 64.5% in 1998.

        본 논문에서는 이동 무선채널을 레일레이(Rayleigy) 분포된 다중경로 페이딩 채널(multipath fading channel)로 가정한 IS-95 셀룰라 시스템의 역방향 링크에 대하여 활률식(blocking probability formula)을 유도한다. 얼랑용량은 음영효과(shadowing)만을 고려한 경우와 음영효과와 다중경로 페이딩을 모두 고려한 경우에 대하여 비교 분석된다. 2%의 블러킹 확률을 가정하면 데이터를 R?=9.6kbps에서는 19.97 얼랑, R?=14.4 kbps에서는 11.67얼랑으로 음영효과만을 고려한 경우보다 각각 16%와 19%의 용량이 감소하였다. IS-95 셀룰라 시스템에 대한 얼랑용량에서 다중경로 페이딩의 영향을 무시해서는 안되고 IS-95 셀룰라 시스템이 지원할 수 있는 정확한 얼랑용량과 등가채널수를 제공한다. In this paper, for the reverse link of a IS-95 cellular system assuming that a mobile radio channel is a Rayeigy distributed multipath fading channel, the blocking probability formula is derived. Erlang capacity in the case of considering shadowing is compared with that of considering both shadowing and multipath fading. Assuming that the blocking probability set 2%, the Erlang capacity is 19.97 Erlang at the data rate of R?=9.6 kbps and 11.67 Erlang at the data rate of R?=14.4 kbps and is less 16% and 19% than the Erlang capacity considering shadowing only, respectively. It is showed that the effect of multipath fading must not be ignored in Erlang capacity of the IS-95 cellular system and exact Erlang capacity and equivalent channel numbers that the IS-95 cellular system can support are provided.

        칸디다균에 의해 발생된 피부 궤양

        Cutaneous ulcers due to candida infection are very rare condition, occurring almost in immunocompromised host or occuring as cutaneous manifestation of systemic candidal infection. A 52-year-old woman presented with cutaneous ulcer on dorsum of left hand which had lasted for about 15 days. Bacterial culture showed nonpathogenic organism, Enterobacter cloacae. Mycologic studies including KOH mount and fungus culture were positive for pseudohyphae and colonies of Candida species. A biopsy specimen from the center of ulcer revealed numerous spores and fungal hyphae in the upper dermis and necrotic epidermis. Bacterial culture and fungus culture of patient's serum and urine were negative. Initial treatment with antibiotics had no effectiveness for 2 weeks. After then we treated with antifungal drug, itraconazole 100mg/day. After 6 weeks of antifungal therapy, the skin lesion was much improved. We report this case, because it showed cutaneous ulcer due to candida infection but had neither systemic candidal infection nor clinical sign of immunosuppression.

      • Bicycle Ergometer 運動前, 後 血液成分 變化에 關한 硏究

        This study is meant to calculate the change of circulational ability (Heart rate, Blood pressure) and blood components (RBC, WBC, Hb, Hct, Glucose, Total cholesterol, Total protein) at rest (30 minute of rest before exercise), after exercise and at recovery (30 minutes of rest after exercise) by using bicycle ergometer. The boys (5 athletes group, 5 non-athletes group) were chosen form "K" middle school in "K" city and were examined to raise the expectations about exercise. The method of exercise load was decided with a pre-test at 80% of maximum heart rate with bicycle ergometer (Monark : Sweden). 2 minutes of warming up at 50 in 0 kp was done, and soon without rest, main exercise was done for 5 minutes at 50 in 30 kp. Blood circulational ability and blood components were examined three times respectively at rest, after exercise and at recovery. Blood circulational test was taken at sitting position using finger for heart rate and a Sphygmemanometer (Tycos type, Auto) 5cc of blood was collected using one time injector through the antecubital vein and soon 1cc of blood (anticoagulated, EDTA-2k) was examined for blood components change with Auto Cell Counter (ABX : France). The rest of the blood was placed in a plane tube. Later a biochemistrical test was took with Hand Chemistry Analyzer (Gylford : U.S.A) and Auto chemistry Analyzer (Gylford : U.S.A). Experimental items were physique examination (Height, Weight, Chest), circulational ability test (Heart rate , Blood Pressure), hematological test(RBC, WBC, Hb, Hct) and biochemistrical test (Glucose, Total cholesterol, Total protein). The results were compared and analyzed according to experimental items, Standard deviation and mean were made by SAS package program at rest Exercise, and at recovery, The T-test about the difference in average between athletes and non-athletes was made at level of α=0.05, α=0.01 The results are as follows. 1. At rest , the heart rate of the athletes and non-athletes did not have statistical differences, but after exercise, both groups showed rapid increase with concerning difference (p<0.01). 2. At rest, the maximum blood pressure (at systolic) was lower for the athletes group with no statistical significance for both of the groups. After exercise, both groups showed high increase, and at recovery both groups showed quick recover rate. There were no concerning difference both at after exercise and at recovery. 3. At rest the blood components showed less RBC's and WBC's than the normal adults and an average rate of Hb's and Hct's. Only WBC's and Hb's showed statistical difference (p<0.05, p<0.01). 4. After exercise, both groups showed low increase of RBC's Hb's, and Hct's but WBC's showed high increase WBC's Hb's and Hct's showed concerning increase (p<0.05) 5. At recovery, both groups showed approximately 95% recovery rate of RBC's Hb's and Hct's of the blood components, but WBC's showed a high recovery rate of 106%. Only WBC's and Hb's showed statistical difference (p<0.05) 6. At rest, Glucose and Total cholesterol was lower in athletes group but there were no statistical difference in both groups. After exercise both groups showed low increase in them. Glucose showed concerning difference (p<0.01) At recovery, both groups showed rapid recovery rare, but no concerning difference. 7. At rest, Total protein was low in athletes group with no statistical significance. After exercise, both groups showed low increase with no concerning differences. At recovery, both groups recovered quickly, but were no concerning differences. Concluding the above, compared to the non-athletes group, the athlete group showed low numeric value in blood circulating ability and change in blood components at rest, after exercise and of recovery. The low numeric value in blood circulating ability and quick recovery seems to reason form everyday planed and regular exercise in which physical and biochemical changes occur which gives the ability to adjust to the moving parts. The future subject is to understand the effect to the students of early growth which happen by the influence of developing society and to do continuous research of age, sex distinction, and areas to judge the details and intensity of physical strength training, and need to research with long and planned physical strength examination.

      • DS/CDMA 시스템에서 핸드오프 방식에 따른 얼랑용량과 링크마진 계산에 의한 셀 커버리지

        PCS CDMA 시스템의 역방향 링크에서 핸드오프 기법에 따라 얼랑용량과 링크마진을 구하는 각각의 차단확률을 유도하였다. 동일한 시스템 파라메터로 그 값을 계산해서 COST-231 전파모델을 적용한 전파손실을 구할 때 적용하였으며, 현실적인 셀 최대용량으로 얼랑용량을 계산해 여러 지역에서 셀 커버리지와의 관계를 새로운 관점에서 분석하였다. 소프트핸드오프를 하는 상황에서 E_(b)/N_(o)=5 dB에서 차단확률을 5 %에서 2 %로 낮출 경우 링크마진은 0.88 dB 더 높여야하고 용량이 20 얼랑에서 2 얼랑 감소함에 따라 도시지역의 셀 커버리지도 0.1 km 줄어들지만 신뢰성과 서비스품질을 높일 수 있었다. 차단확률 5 % 이내에서 E_(b)/N_(o)=7 dB에서 5 dB로 낮게 적용할 경우 마진은 똑같이 2.8 dB로 적용해도 용량은 11 얼랑에서 9 얼랑 증가와 함께 커버리지도 1.5 km에서 0.2 km 증가하였다. 이때 하드핸드오프에 비하면 2.16 dB의 마진을 더 줄일 수 있어 10 얼랑 증가와 함께 0.22 km 늘어나는 소프트핸드오프 이득이 발생하였다. 또한 핸드오프를 하지 않는 단일 셀 경우에 비해서는 용량은 10 얼랑 이상 감소하지만 1.31 dB의 마진을 줄일 수 있어 셀 커버리지도 0.17 km 증가하였다. We derive the outage probability for the Erlang capacity and link margin according to handoffs in the reverse link of a PCS CDMA system, calculate them with the same parameters, and then analyze newly the cell coverage with the maximum realizable Erlang capacity in different areas by the COST-231 model. If it decreases from 5 % to 2 % in case of E_(b)/N_(o)=5 dB, the result shows a very reliable link on the additional increase of 0.88 dB in the margin and a high quality of service within coverage decrease of 0.1 km from 1.5 km in city area on the decrease of 2 Erlang from 20 Erlang in the capacity. When the E_(b)/N_(o) decreases from 7 dB to 5 dB within the outage probability of 5 % under a soft handoff, it shows the increase of 9 Erlang from 11 Erlang and of 0.2 km in it on the same margin of 2.8 dB. Then, comparing it with a hard handoff, it shows the soft handoff gain of the decrease of 2.16 dB in the margin, the increase of 10 Erlang, and of 0.22 km in it. Also, comparing it with a single cell, the decrease of more than 10 Erlang, but the enlargement of 0.17 km on the decrease of 1.31 dB.

      • 소프트 핸드오프 기법이 CDMA 셀룰러 시스템의 셀 커버리지에 미치는 영향

        기존의 CDMA 셀 커버리지에 대한 분석은 주로 핸드오프 기법에 의한 셀 커버리지 확장에 초점을 맞추어 정량적으로 분석되었다. 본 논문은 소프트 핸드오프 기법이 IS-95 CDMA 셀룰러 시스템의 셀 커버리지 및 용량에 미치는 영향을 도심지역의 경로 손실을 모델링한 Hata 모델을 사용하여 분석하였다. 또한 하드 핸드오프 기법에 비해 소프트 핸드오프 기법을 사용하게 되면 상대적으로 셀 커버리지가 확장됨을 확인할 수 있었고, 링크의 신뢰도를 높이기위해 소프트 핸드오프 마진만큼 전력을 높이게 되면 최대 수용가능 통화 사용자 수와 셀 커버리지는 더해준 마진만큼 감소하게 된다. 따라서 CDMA 셀룰러 시스템의 셀 커버리지는 기지국 수신기의 감도보다는 역방향 링크 다중접속 사용자 간섭에 의해 영향을 받게 됨을 알 수 있다. Previous analysis of CDMA cell coverage have mainly focused on the extension of cell coverage that is envolved from soft and hard handoff. In this paper, the effect of soft handoff technique on cell coverage and capacity for IS-95 CDMA cellular system are analyzed using the Hata propagationmodel, which is based on extensive empirical measurement taken in urban density. It is shown that soft handoff increases cell coverage relative to conventional hard handoff. For the purpose of increasing link reliability, we adds the soft handoff margin, and then the maximum number of users and cell coverage are decreased by about soft handoff margin. It is observed that the CDMA cellular system is affected by the reverse link interference more than the base-station sensitivity.

      • 음성 및 데이터 서비스를 지원하는 DS/CDMA 셀룰라 시스템의 성능 분석

        본 논문에서는 음성 및 데이터 서비스를 지원하는 DS/CDMA 샐를라 시스템의 역방향 링크 성능을 분석한다. 음성 사용자와 데이터 사용자가 흔합된 시스템에서 다증셀 간섭을 고려하여. 욜록킹 확률에 따른 음성 사용자수와 데이터 사용자수를 계산한다. 분석한 결과, 음성 사용자수가 증가함에 따라 데이터 사용자수는 선형적으로 감소하며. 1명의 데이터 사용자는 2.2명의 음성 사용자에 상응한다. 또한, 전력제어 오차에 따라 심각한 용량 감소를 뽁인 할 수 있다. In this Paper, the Performance of DS/CD MA cellular system supporting voice and data service is analysed in the reverse link. The number of voice users and data users is calculated under the condition of blocking probability considering inter-cell interference in the mixed system of the voice and data users. According to the analyzed results, the number of data user decreases linearly and one user of data corresponds to 2.2 user of voice. Moreover. the capacity decreases seriously according to the power control error.

      • Construction of Stably Transformed Bm 5 Cells by Using Autographa californica Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus IE 0 Gene

        To construct transfurmed Bm5 cells, Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus(AcNPV) IE1 gene, an immediate early viral gene was firstly used in this study. AcNPV IE1 gene, which shares on 95.3% nucleotide sequence homology with Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (BmNPV) IE1 gene, was isolated and cloned into pBluescript. Neomycin gene from pKO-neo was inserted under the control of the IE1 promoter to yield pAcIE1-neo. The plasmid pAcIE1-neo was transfected into Bm5 or Sf9 cells, and neomycin-resistant cells were selected in TC100 medium containing 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS) and 1 mg/ml G4l8 for two weeks. Individual clones were picked and each was amplified for further characterization. The genomic DNA from neomycin-resistant cells was isolated and characterized by PCR using AcNPV IEI gene-specific primers and by Southern blot analysis using neomycin gene probe. We concluded that AcNPV IE1 gene was functional in B. mori-derived Bm5 cells as well as Spodoptera fugjprrda-derived Sf9 cells to produce stably-transformed insect cells

        Purification and Characterization of Vitellin from the Firefly, Pyrocoelia rufa

        The vitellin of firefly, Pyrocoelia rufa, is composed of three polypeptides, designated Vn1 (175 kDa), Vn2 (160 kDa) and Vn3 (45 kDa) in SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Three subunits of vitellin were presented in the female adult hemolymph, ovary and egg extracts, but not observed in the male. This vitellin was purified from the eggs of P. rufa by the FPLC techniques, anion exchange chromatography and gel permeation chromatography. In nature, vitellin of P. rufa has molecular weight of 400 kDa. Western blot analysis using polyclonal antiserum against purified vitellin showed that the antiserum was reacted with the three polypeptides, Vnl, Vn2 and Vn3 from the female adult hemolymph, ovary and egg extracts. Amino acid residues at N-terminus of three subunits were sequenced. The N-terminal sequences of large subunits, Vnl and Vn2, were similar to each other, But, the N-terminal sequences of small subunits Vn3, did not have any signnificant homology with large subunits.
