        The spray-type protective coating film has been developed and applied for alumina, glass, wooden, and metal structures to extend the protection against the elements that cause structural corrosion and degradation. We describe the characteristics of selecting and testing additives as well as sensitivities to variations in selecting the start formulation. The product formulation is obtained by blending the theoretical together with the practical in solvent-based applications. From a commercial view point, this durable film method can effectively provide the first line of defense for complex structural shape as a barrier to the effects of water, oxygen, pollutants and microorganisms.

      • 矮化劑 處理가 바나나의 生育 및 收量에 미치는 影響

        바나나에 알맞은 矮化劑를 選拔하고자 몇종의 矮化劑를 Dwarf Cavendish에 처리하였던 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 주당 80mg 이하의 paclobutrazol 土壤灌注 처리는 草長, 莖葉特性, 果實收量, 果實特性 등에 영향을 주지 않았다. 200mg 이상 처리구에서는 草長과 假莖長이 단축되는 경향을 보였고 果梗長은 유의성 있게 단축되었으나 다른 莖葉特性이나 果實收量, 果實特性은 무처리구와 큰 차이가 없었다. 2. 주당 20mg의 ancymidol 土壤灌注에 의해서 草長과 假莖長이 단축되는 경향이나 다른 莖葉特性이나 果實收量, 果實特性은 무처리구와 큰 차이가 없었다. 3. 5000ppm의 chlormequat 수용액 2회 葉面撤布區에서는 草長, 莖葉特性, 果實收量, 果實特性 등이 무처리구와 비슷하였다. 4. 草長과 假莖을 현저히 단축시키는 藥量의 矮化劑를 처리할 때 果梗이 假莖에서 빠져나오지 못할 것으로 보여 바나나에 있어서 矮化劑의 실용성은 없을 것 같다. This study was conducted to select growth retardants for bananas grown in a plastic greenhouse. The various rates of paclobutrazol(40, 80, 200 and 400mg/plant) and 20mg/plant of ancymidol were soil drenched and 5000ppm solution of chlormequat was foliarly sprayed twice. Application of less than 80mg of paclobutrazol did not affect plant height, pseudostem and leaf characteristics fruit yield and fruit characteristics. Application of 200 or 400mg of paclobutrazol tended to reduce plant height and pseudostem length and significantly shortened fruit stalk but did not affect the other characteristics. Application of 20mg of ancymidol tended to reduce plant height and pseudostem length but did not influence the other characteristics. Foliar spray of 5000ppm solution of chlormequat did not influence any measured plant traits. Application of growth retardants to bananas grown in a plastic greenhouse may not be beneficial because growth retardant rates to reduce plant height and pseudostem length significantly appear to prevent fruit stalks from fully emerging.

      • 3중 적층형 압전 트랜스듀서의 주파수 특성

        Frequency characteristics of a three-layered piezoelectric transducer are analyzed with three piezoelectric ceramic disk vibrators and two sheets of thin isolator. The electric input voltage near its fundamental resonant frequency is applied to the center vibrator and the output voltages across the left and the right vibrators are connected in parallel or in series to the resister load. Moreover, equivalent circuits are derived from the Mason's model for parallel connection and series connection. Also, equations of voltage ratio, resonant frequency, phase angle between the Input and output voltages, and bandwidth have been derived. Computed values from those equations are compared with measured values. Both are shown to agree well each other.       • 누에의 人工飼料 開發에 관한 硏究

        This experiment was conducted to improve the quality of artificial diet for the silkworm., Bombyx mori. 1. All of the Corn, Barley, Rice were good for response, Corn was most recommendable starch source for artificial diet. 2. The precentage of under grown larvae could be reduced by the treatment of hexane when the soybean powder was used for starch source, which was especially effective on the diet for the 1st instar. 3. Feeding responses and growth at 4th instar larvae were varied by the individual moth, however the Japanese strains were superior to Chinese strains in general case. 4. All of the hybrid silkworm showed the better feeding response and growth than their original strains. 5. Both cocoon productivity and egg productivity of the original strains reared on the artificial diet were increased by the subsequent rearing through generation.

      • 인터넷 개인화 서비스의 유형별 효과

        서비스의 개인화(service personalization)는 최근 인터넷 마케팅 분야에서 중요한 전략적 개념으로 등장하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 개인화 서비스를 고객주도형과 서비스 제공자주도형으로 이분화하고 그 효과에 대하여 실험을 통하여 살펴보았다. 연구 결과, 개인화 서비스에 대한 전반적인 효과가 서비스 이용자의 호의적인 태도의 증가 및 플로우의 경험을 통해 입증되었으며, 특히 서비스 제공자주도형 개인화 서비스는 고객주도형 개인화 서비스가 적절히 제공되는 경우에만 고객들의 전반적인 태토에 긍정적인 효과를 가져온다는 사실이 입증되었다. 반면 개인화 서비스가 가져올 수 있는 개인정보노출에 대한 위험자각은 유의적으로 드러나지 않았다. 이외 본 연구에서는 개인화 서비스와 관련한 개념들이 정리되고 이에 대한 이론적ㆍ실무적 의미가 논의된다.

      • 경주산 규조토를 이용한 비실리카겔 흡습제에 관한 연구

        The water-vapor adsorption capacities of desiccants were investigated over a wide range of pre-calcined temperatures, screened particle-sizes, and relative humidities. Natural porous diatomites, currently produced in Kyungju, Kyungpook area, were used as moisture sorbents. Under all relative humidities conditions employed in this work, the moisture adsorption capacities of diatomite desiccants were shown to be better than those obtained from silica-gel desiccants. The silica-gel desiccants arrived at saturated equilibrium in relatively short time less than 10 hours, while the diatomite desiccants exhibited the continous moisture adsorption even after 40 hours due to the capillary condensation effects. The amount of adsorbed moistures were increased with increasing pre-calcined temperature up to 800˚C. Above this temperature, however, the structural change to cristobalite phase significantly led to the decrement of adsorption rate.

      • Neuroprotective effects of MHY908, a PPAR α/γ dual agonist, in a MPTP-induced Parkinson’s disease model

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) are nuclear receptors and are considered promising therapeutic targets in several neurodegenerative diseases. A number of PPAR agonists have been shown to have neuroprotective properties in the presence of oxidative stress, neuroinflammatory response, and apoptosis in various neurodegenerative disease. MHY908 is a novel PPAR α/γ dual agonist, which has been shown to suppress inflammatory response and attenuate insulin resistance in aged rats and db/db mice. Here, we evaluated the neuroprotective effects of MHY908 in a 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP)-induced mouse model of PD. Pretreatment with MHY908 attenuated MPTP-induced dopaminergic neuronal loss and motor deficit. MPTP-induced glial activations were mitigated by MHY908 in the nigrostriatal pathway, and MHY908 effectively blocked 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP<SUP>+</SUP>)-induced cell death and ROS production in SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells. Further study revealed MHY908 inhibited MPP<SUP>+</SUP>-induced astroglial activation by suppressing NF-κB signaling in primary astrocytes. Taken together, the present study suggests that PPAR α/γ dual agonists be considered potentially useful preventions for PD and other neurodegenerative diseases associated with neuroinflammation.</P> <P><B>Highlight</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> MHY908 attenuated MPTP-induced motor deficits and dopaminergic neuronal death. </LI> <LI> MHY908 also ameliorated MPTP-induced glial activation in the STR and SN. </LI> <LI> MHY908 pretreatment protected SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells against MPP<SUP>+</SUP> toxicity. </LI> <LI> Pretreatment of MHY908 inhibited MPP<SUP>+</SUP>-induced ROS generation. </LI> <LI> MHY908 treatment attenuated MPP<SUP>+</SUP>-induced primary astrocyte activation and nuclear translocation of NF-κB. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Effect of Dissolved Oxygen (DO) on Internal Corrosion of Water Pipes

        A series of laboratory-scale corrosion experiments was carried out to observe the effect of dissolved oxygen (DO) in the presence of other water quality parameters, such as hardness, Cl-, and pH using various pipe materials. In addition, a simulated loop system was installed at a water treatment plant for pilot-scale experiment. Laboratory-scale experiment showed that corrosion rates for galvanized steel pipe (GSP), carbon steel pipe (CSP), and ductile cast iron pipe (DCIP) were decreased to 72%, 75%, and 91% by reducing DO concentration from 9±0.5 mg/L to 2±0.5 mg/L. From the pilot scale experiment, it was further identified that the average ionization rate of zinc in GSP decreased from 0.00533 to 0.00078 mg/cm2/d by controlling the concentration of DO. The reduction of average ionization rate for copper pipe (CP) and stainless steel pipe (SSP) were 71.4% for Cu and 63.5% for Fe, respectively. From this study, it was concluded that DO could be used as a major parameter in controlling the corrosion of water pipes.
