무포자 효모인 Candida속의 효모는 aikane계 화합물을 이용하며 cellubiose나 xylose를 동화하는 등 산업적으로 이용가능성이 높다. Candida tropicalis는 세포질 인자인 plasmid가 발견되지 않으므로 염색체 유래의 자율복제기점을 non-replicative plasmid인 YIp5에 삽입시켜 S. cevisiae YNN 27에서 분리하였다. 분리된 자율 복제 기점을 Hind III과 EcoR I제한 효소로 절단하고 각각 2.7kb와 2.3kb fragment를 회수한 후 동일 제한 효소로 절단한 YIp5와 YIp32에 ligation시켜 pIKS523, pIKS527및 pIKC27을 구축하였다. 특히, pIKC27은 2.7kb의 자율복제 기점을 가진 plasmid로서 S. cerevisiae DBY746과 C.maltosa J288에서 높은 형질 전환체를 나타내었다. 기존의 plasmid와 안정성을 비교하였으며, 여러 제한효소에 의해서 얻어진 결과로서 상세한 restrition map을 작성하였다. Candida species are special interest because of its ability to metabolize hydrocarbon, covet this material into single cell protein and assimilate cellobiose and xylose as substrate. Cadida tropicalis has no native plasmid similar to 2㎛ plasmid. Therefore, Candida tropicalis is regarded as a new yeast host. An 8-kb fragment was isolated from Sal I digest of Candida tropicalis IFO 0518 genomic DNA which conferred the property of autonomous replication in Saccharomyces cerevisiae YNN 27. The vectors for gene manipulation of Yeast, pIKS 523, pIKS 527 and pIKC 27, were constructed by combinding the ARS fragment and integration plasmid YIP 5 and YIP 32, respectively. One of the recombinant plasmids, pIKC 27 (9.4kb), was capable of autonomous replication in both S. cerevisiae DBY 746 to Leu+ at a frequency of 600 transformants per ㎍ DNA, and transformed Candida maltosa J288 to Leu+ at a frequency of 230 transformants per ㎍ DNA. These results indicate that the 2.7 kb ARS element was necessary for high frequency transformation and autonomous plasmid replication in both S. Cerevisiae and C. maltosa.

The biotelemetry system transmits monitored physiological signal from multiple subjects to an electrical instrument at remote place where this information can be observed via electrical or optical link. In this paper, we developed an optical linked telemetry system which can transmit 6-channel physiological signals from 4 subjects, simultaneously. The proposed telemetry system is fabricated with Altera FPGA chip(EPM7128LC84-20) and 0.8μm CMOS n-well process technology. We designed a All-Digital PLL to synchronize with the external measurement system which consisted of a command signal transmitter and a telemetry signal demodulator. The operation characteristic of a All-Digital PLL is superior than an enforced synchronization oscillator which consisted of negative elements and a comparator. The required time to synchronize with a external measurement system at the maximum phase error is about 10.3ms. The novel external measurement system is implemented with Altera FPGA chip (EFM7096LC84-15).
허혈성 뇌졸중과 응고인자 XIII Val 34 Leu 다형성과의 무관성

Background and purpose: Although a common G to T point mutation (FXIII Val34Leu) in exon 2 of the alpha-subunit of the FXIII is protective against myocardial infarction and venous thrombosis, there are few reported the association of FXIII Val34Leu and ischemic stroke. The aim of this study was to investigate the protective role of the FXIII Val34Leu against ischemic stroke and its suggested interaction with the plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) 4G/5G polymorphism. Methods: We carried out genotype analyses for FXIII Val34Leu using single-stranded conformation polymorphism and 4G/5G polymorphism in the promoter region of the PAI-1 gene in 53 patients with ischemic stroke and in 82 race-matched control subjects. Results: Age, hypertension, diabetes, and low-density lipoprotein were significantly higher in ischemic stroke patients. However, genetic distributions of FXIII A subunit and promoter region of PAI-1 were not different on both groups. Even adjusting for age, sex, hypertension, diabetes, and total cholesterol, there were not significantly associated between FXIII Val34Leu or 4G/4G genotype of PAI-1 and ischemic stroke. Conclusion: FXIII Val34Leu and the 4G/4G genotype of the PAI-1 gene are not significantly associated with an increased or decreased risk of ischemic stroke.

The study was conducted to establish the method of performance test of honeybee queens under Korean environment. Colony performances of apis mellifera were tested based on wintering ability, colony population and honey yield in Sangju, Korea from November, 1999 ∼2000 season were averaged 22.6±2.6kg and 20.1±2.6kg, respectively, showing the decrease of 2.5 ±0.7kg. During 2000∼2001 winter season, the colony weight before wintering was 22.6±2.3kg and was decreased by 2.3± 0.6kg. The number of combs well covered with bees was 13.1± 4.6 as measured on the 22nd of May. 2000 and 16.0± 3.8 on the 21st of May. 2001, respectively. The rate of supering colonies were 50% and 98.5% in 2000 and 2001, respectively. The amount of honey production was 12.7± 8.6kg per colony in 2000, 14.2± 7.6kg per colony with unselected queens and 23.5± 4.9kg per colony with seleceted-tested queens in 2001, which were harvested two times during main nectar flow season of black locust, Robinia peseudoacasia.

This study conducted an empirical research to find ways to guide the career of college students in the social science at Soonchunhyang university. Research findings are as follows. 1) About 42% respondents answered that they did job-seeking efforts. 2) With regard to job preparing efforts, students spent their time on improving their English ability, major classes, computer ability, and license obtaining. 3) Job-related information sources in the school were not fully utilized by the students. 4) In the future, students hope that our school strengthen its PR efforts, open more English-related classes, improve its school image as a local university, and provide more job-related information The study concludes with implications of the study results and suggestions for career guidance of students.
페라이트 도금법으로 제작된 Ni_(x)Fe_(3-x)O₄박막의 자외선차단 효과에 대한 연구

Nickel-ferrite Ni_(x)Fe_(3-x)O₄ thin film was fabricated by ferrite plating method in order to make sunglass which intercept ultraviolet ray and electromagnetic field. The transmittance of nickel-ferrite Ni_(x)Fe_(3-x)O₄ thin film is down clearly below 400㎚. And it shows that the nickel-ferrite thin film of x=0.09 in nickel composition rate was intercepted ultraviolet ray. We expect that sunglass coated with Ni_(x)Fe_(3-x)O₄ thin film will use for interception of ultraviolet ray and electromagnetic field.

The enzyme, squalene synthase, represents a branch point in the isoprenoid pathway capable of diverting carbon flow specifically to the biosynthesis of phytosterol and Triterpenoid. Transgenic Eleutherococcus senticosus plants were prepared by introducing the genes for squalene synthase derived from Panax ginseng (PgSS1), hygromycin phosphotransferase (HPT) and green fluorescent protein (GFP) through Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. Establishment of transgenic plantlets were confirmed by the presence of PgSS1 and HPT bands in the genomic DNA preparation using a PCR method and a Southern blotting. In addition, expression of the introduced GFP DNA was confirmed by observing green fluorescence of GFP from the embroyos. In the in vitro analysis of the PgSS1 enzymatic activities the transgenic plants showed to have 1.5 to 3 times higher than wild type plant, indicating that the PgSS1 genes was well over-expressed in the transgenic plants. Especially the PgSS1 acivities of embroyogenic cell was 120 times higher than those of plantlet.
