In this work, a tunneling field-effect transistor (TFET) based on heterojunctions of compound and Group IV semiconductors is introduced and simulated. TFETs based on either silicon or compound semiconductors have been intensively researched due to their merits of robustness against short channel effects (SCEs) and excellent subthreshold swing (SS) characteristics. However, silicon TFETs have the drawback of low on-current and compound ones are difficult to integrate with silicon CMOS circuits. In order to combine the high tunneling efficiency of narrow bandgap material TFETs and the high mobility of rn.v TFETs, a Type-I heterojunction tunneling field-effect transistor (I-HTFET) adopting Ge-AIxGa1-xAsGe system has been optimized by simulation in terms of aluminum (AI) composition. To maximize device performance, we considered a nanowire structure, and it was shown that high performance (UP) logic technology can be achieved by the proposed device. The optimum AI composition turned out to be around 20% (x=0.2).

Site-directed substitutions were made to change the I1e91 of restriction endonuclease EcoRV to either Val, Ala or Gly to identify the role of I1e91 in recognition and catalysis, since substitution of I1e91 with Leu afforded dramatic effects on the activity and properties of restriction endonuclease EcoRV. These changes alter the size of the hydrophobic side chain at position 91 and thus might have revealed the reason for the altered phenotype of Ile91Leu. However, the properties of Ile91Val and Ile91Ala mutants were much like wild type EcoRV, in both activity and metal ion preference. Ile91Gly had very little activity with either Mg^(2+) or Mn^(2+) as cofactors. To try to understand the unusual Mn^(2+) profile of the Ile91Leu mutant, two double mutants, Ile91Leu;Asp90Asn and Ile91Leu;Glu45Met were created. Both double mutants were seriously disabled by the second amino acid change. IIe91Leu;G1u45Met had some residual activity in the Mn^(2+) reaction buffer, whereas the Ile91Leu;Asp90Asn displayed no detectable activity.

비알코올성 지방간의 중증도에 따른 혈중 Ghrelin 농도 변화

목적: ghrelin은 주로 위에서 분비되는 새로운 peptide로서 음식물 섭취 및 식욕을 증가시키고 최근 인슐린 저항성 및 대사 증후군과의 관련성에 대해 많은 연구 결과가 보고되고 있다. 비알코올성 지방간은 인슐린 저항성 및 대사 증후군이 그 원인으로 잘 알려져 있는바 저자들은 비알코올성 지방간의 중증도에 따른 혈중 ghrelin 농도의 변화를 관찰하여 그들의 관련성에 대해 알아 보고자 하였다. 방법: 정상 성인 남성 65명(나이: 54.3±6.3세, 범위 42~70세)을 대상으로 하여 간 초음파 및 공복 혈중 ghrelin 농도를 측정하였다. 간 초음파 소견상 지방간의 유무 및 중증도에 따라 대상자를 세 군(Group I: 정상 27명, Group II: 경증: 24명, Group III: 중등도 이상의 지방간: 14명)으로 분류하였고, 세 군 간의 혈중 ghrelin 농도의 차이를 ANOVA test로 검정하였다. 또한 인슐린 저항성 지표인 HOMA 및 체질량 지수, 허리 둘레, 엉덩이 둘레, 허리-엉덩이 둘레비 등 인슐린 저항성 관련 인자와 혈중 ghrelin 농도와의 독립적인 상관성을 다중 회귀 분석으로 검정하였다. 결과: 간 초음파 소견상 지방간의 정도가 심해짐에 따라 혈중 ghrelin 농도가 낮아지는 경향을 보였으나 (Group I: 정상 230.9±94.3, Group II: 경증 195.2±97.2, Group III: 중등도 이상 지방간 164.3±71.4 pmol/L) 통계적으로 의미있는 결과를 얻지는 못하였으며(p=0.081), 인슐린 저항성 지표인 HOMA 및 체질량 지수, 허리 둘레, 엉덩이 둘레, 허리-엉덩이 둘레비 등 인슐린 저항성 관련 인자는 혈중 ghrelin 농도와 독립적인 관련성을 관찰할 수 없었다. 결론: 본 연구의 결과로 인슐린 저항성과 혈중 ghrelin 농도의 관련성을 증명하지는 못하였다. 하지만 간 초음파 소견상 지방간의 중증도가 심해질수록 혈중 ghrelin 농도가 낮아지는 경향을 관찰할 수 있었다. 따라서 향후 추가적인 연구로 이들의 관련성에 대한 증명이 필요할 것으로 생각한다. Background: Recently, ghrelin has been reported to be associated with insulin resistance. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a condition in which insulin resistance relatively plays a pivotal role. The aim of this study was to evaluate the change of serum ghrelin concentration according to severity of hepatosteatosis. Methods: Sixty five apparently normal male adults who underwent health screen examinations were classified into three groups, Group I: normal (27 subjects), Group II: mild (24 subjects) and Group III: moderate to severe fatty liver (14 subjects), according to ultrasonographic findings of liver. We analyzed the association between serum ghrelin concentration and severity of hepatosteatosis by ANOVA test. And the independent correlation between serum ghrelin concentration and insulin resistance related factors, HOMA (homeostatic model assessment), BMI (body mass index), WC (waist circumference), HC (hip circumference), WHR (waist to hip circumference ratio) were analyzed by multiple linear regression analysis. Results: Serum ghrelin concentration tended to decrease according to severity of hepatosteatosis (Group I: 230.9±94.3, Group II: 195.2±97.2, Group III: 164.3±71.4 pmol/L). But this was statistically insignificant (p=0.081). The independent correlation between serum ghrelin concentration and insulin resistance related factors were not observed. Conclusions: Our study did not prove the correlation between insulin resistance related factors and serum ghrelin concentration in NAFLD according to severity of hepatosteatosis. However, we found a tendency to decrease serum ghrelin concentration according to severity of hepatosteatosis. So, further studies are required for certification these correlations.(Korean J Med 71:45-51, 2006)
신라대학교 주변지역 대기에서 측정된 PM10중의 중금속과 암모니아 농도 특성

This study was conducted to investigate the characteristics of heavy metals of PM10 and ammonia concentration in Silla University surround area. In this study, the average concentration trend of metallic elements contained in PM10 are shown as follows : Cu〉Pb〉Ni〉Mn〉Cd, respectively. The wash-out according to previous day rain made low the concentration of metals and stagnation of air during some days made high the concentration of metals. Ammonia concentration at Silla University was lower than Taebak and Tonggo mountain.
부산 연안역에서 관측된 1996년 2월 3~4일의 연직대기구조의 특성

The observation of vertical atmosphere carried out to investigate characteristics of low level air and mixed layer at Pusan coastal area for Feb. 3∼4, 1996. This observation used air sonde at Gamcheondong and pilot balloon at Kimhae airport. The reliable data regarding the vertical thermal structure along shoreline and its inland variations are required for various purposes such as (1) input to atmosphere flow pattern, (2) input to pollution dispersion simulation models, (3) for determination of the height of power plant stacks, (4) for determination of dust storm effects, (5) for determination of the air pollution potential, (6) for studies of the inland pollution transport phenomenon. The purpose of this study was to analyze the upper air data measured in the Pusan coastal area and establish the temporal behavior of the mixed layer. From air sonde observation, maximum mixing height for this study period was 1,520m at 1800LST and the diurnal variation of mixing height was distinct. The mixing height of wintertime was effected by mechanical turbulece than thermal turbulence. The residual layer showed between surface inversion layer and upper inversion layer from 2100LST to 0300LST. From pibal observation, low level jet(LLJ) showed near maximum mixing height(1500∼1800m) from 1200LST to 1800LST, and vertical shear stress showed at 900∼1500m, The general wind direction at all level was northwesterly dominantly The vertical profile of atmospheric boundary layer effects the transport and diffusion of air pollutants, so regional and seasonal observation need to perform periodically.

풍력발전시스템용 Double-side형 횡방향 자속 릴럭턴스 발전기 설계 및 특성해석

본 논문에서는 직접구동용 풍력발전 시스템에 적용할 Double-side형 TFSRG(Transverse Flux Switched Reluctance Gnerator)의 설계와 특성해석을 진행 하였다. 출력방정식과 극당 최대 기자력 식을 이용하여 외부치수와 내부치수를 설계 하였고, 설계된 Double-side형 TFSRG는 3차원 유한요소해석을 통하여 토크특성, 공극에서의 자속밀도, 속도에 따른 유기기전력 등의 특성을 확인하였다. 그 결과 제안한 Double-side형 TFSRG 설계와 설계방법으로 예상된 설계 사양의 값을 얻을 수 있었고 또한, 설계의 타당성을 검증 할 수 있었다.
