        Determinants of Consumer Satisfaction in Fast Food Industry of Lahore Pakistan

        The purpose of this study is to analyze and evaluate the key success factors for the fast food industry in the region of Lahore Pakistan. Fast food concept developed very speedily in the last few years in Lahore region. The success or failure of a fast food industry based on some factors like Physical environment, Brand-name, Food quality, Price, Taste, Promotional activity, Habitual consumption, Health threats, Consumer expectation, and Family meal. To identify which of these factors has a greater influence on consumer satisfaction, four fast food restaurants such as McDonald’s, PIZZA HUT, KFC, and subway were targeted randomly. The proposed research is quantitative in nature and for data collection; a random sampling technique was used. A questionnaire survey answered by 273 people was considered in this research. Data have been analyzed through statistical techniques. It is observed that Brand name, Food quality, Physical environment, Health threats, Price, Family meals, Habitual consumption, and Consumer expectation showed significant impacts on Fast food industry compared to other factors evaluated herein.

        Factors Influencing the Purchase Intention to consume Halal Certified food in Korea: Evidence from international Pakistani Muslims in South Korea

        최근 할랄 시장의 규모는 매우 커지고 있으며, 전세계적으로 연구 및 발전되어야되는 가장 진보된 사업 중 하나로 주목 받고 있다. 이러한 배경으로 한국과 같은 무슬림 소수 국가들은 지역 경제를 활성화하기 위해 할랄 식품 산업에 진출하여 주도권을 잡으려는 계획을 진행하고 있다. 하지만 할랄 산업 연구에 대한 중요성과 학술 자원에 제한적인 가용성으로 인한 지식 격차는 여전히 남아 있는 실정이다. 본 연구는 할랄 식품 소비자의 구매행동을 고려하여 점점 증가하고 있는 할랄 시장 규모에 대한 정부의 진행방향에 도움을 줄 수 있는 할랄 연구의 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구의 목적은 한국의 무슬림 소비자들 할랄 식품 구매 의도에 영향을 줄 수 있는 요인 조사를 목적으로 하였다. 본 연구를 위해 477명의 설문참여자를 통해 데이터를 수집하였으며, 한국의 행정구역에서 설문참여자를 모으기 위해 목적표본추출법이 사용 되었다. 이 연구의 가설 결과는 할랄 인증, 종교적 신념 및 할랄 브랜드 등 이 세가지 변수가 무슬림 소비자들 사이에서 할랄 구매 의도와 크게 관련이 있음을 확인하는 것이다. 본 연구의 결과는 제조업체들이 무슬림 소비자들의 할랄 구매 의도를 이해하는데 유용할 뿐만 아니라 소비자들이 일상 생활에서 할랄의 의미를 인지하는데 도움이 될 것으로 예상된다. Halal market has been expanding enormously. It has received special attention globally as one of the most advanced business to be explored and develop. Muslim minority countries like South Korea have taken initiative to see the opportunity and penetrate the halal food industry to boost the local economy. However, there is still a knowledge gap behind the importance of studying the halal industry and the limited availability of academic resources. This research will participate to being a reference of halal study in the future for considering the consumers purchase behavior of halal food and being an eye-opener for the government to keep pursuing the halal direction because the halal market size is always getting expand. Due to that, this research aims to examine the factors that can influence purchase intention of halal food among the Muslim consumers in South Korea. The data were collected from 477 respondents. The purposive sampling method is used to gather respondents from the administrative districts from the South Korea. The hypothesis results of this study revealed that three variables which are halal certification, religious beliefs and halal brand satisfaction that were significantly related to Halal purchase intention among Muslim consumers. The findings of this research may be useful and helpful for manufacturers to understand Halal purchase intention among Muslim consumers as well as beneficial for the consumers to be aware of Halal implication in their daily live.

        A Study on Consumption and consumer preference for Halal Meat among Pakistani Community in South Korea

        본 연구에서는 한국에 거주하고 있는 파키스탄인을 중심으로 각각 다른 유형의 육류에 대한 파키스탄인 소비자의 행동, 인식 및 선호도를 분석하였다. 본 분석을 위한 자료는 한국에 거주하는 파키스탄인을 대상으로 한 설문조사를 통하여 수집되었다. 본 연구에서는 설문에 응한 응답자 중 423 명의 설문지를 토대로 빈도분석과 다항로짓회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과 닭고기가 가장 선호하는 고기 (38.3 %)로 나타났으며, 양고기 (25.5%), 어류 (24.3%), 쇠고기 (7.3%) 순으로 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 설문조사 결과 응답자 중 남성이 62.9%, 연령대는 30-40세가 51.4%로 높게 나타났다. 분석결과에 의하면, 나이, 신앙수준, 제품포장, 영양가, 감각적 특성 (맛, 냄새, 냄새, 색) 그리고 할랄 인증 유무가 각각의 육류 유형에 따른 소비자의 만족도에 중요하게 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. ABSTRACT: In this study consumption and consumer preference of halal meat among Pakistani community in South Korea is assessed. The study examined consumption and consumer perception for different meat types. Primary data were collected with the aid of questionnaire and 423 customers analyzed using descriptive statistics and multinomial logit regression. Results indicated that chicken was the most preferred meat (38.3%), followed by mutton (25.5%), fish (24.3%) and beef (7.3%). The result of the paper explores that majority of the respondents were male (62.9%) with the age bracket of 30-40 (51.4%). The results also revealed that marital status, age, price, meat quality, taste-flavor, level of religiosity, product packaging, nutrition value, sensorial characteristics (taste, smell, odor, and color) and halal certification are significant with consumer satisfaction for different meat types. The study clearly revealed the preference of halal meat types among the Pakistani respondents community in South Korea.

        Purification, Characterization and Immobilization of Lipase from Proteus vulgaris OR34 for Synthesis of Methyl Oleate

        A newly isolated strain, Proteus vulgaris OR34, from olive mill waste was found to secrete an alkaline extracellular lipase at 11 U·ml-1 when cultivated on an optimized liquid medium. This lipase was purified 94.64- fold with a total yield of 9.11% and its maximal specific activity was shown to be 3232.58 and 1777.92 U·mg-1 when evaluated using the pH-stat technique at 55℃ and pH 9 and Tributyrin TC4 or olive oil as the substrate. The molecular mass of the pure OR34 lipase was estimated to be around 31 kDa, as revealed by SDSPAGE and its substrate specificity was investigated using a variety of triglycerides. This assay revealed that OR34 lipase preferred short and medium chain fatty acids. In addition, this lipase was stable in the presence of high concentrations of bile salt (NaDC) and calcium ions appear not to be necessary for its activity. This lipase was inhibited by THL (Orlistat) which confirmed its identity as a serine enzyme. In addition, the immobilization of OR34 lipase by adsorption onto calcium carbonate increased its stability at higher temperatures and within a larger pH range. The immobilized lipase exhibited a high tolerance to organic solvents and retained 60% of its activity after 10 months of storage at 4℃. Finally, the OR34 lipase was applied in biodiesel synthesis via oleic acid mediated esterification of methanol when using hexane as solvent. The best conversion yield (67%) was obtained at 12 h and 40℃ using the immobilized enzyme and this enzyme could be reused for six cycles with the same efficiency.

        Sustaining Low-Carbon Emission Development: An Energy Efficient Transportation Plan for CPEC

        Climate change has become a major challenge for sustainable development of human society. This study is an attempt to analyze existing literature to identify economic indicators that hamper the process of global warming. This paper includes case studies based on various countries to examine the nexus for environment and its relationship with Foreign Direct Investment, transportation, economic growth and energy consumption. Furthermore, the observations are analyzed from the perspective of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and probable impact on carbon emission of Pakistan. A major portion of CPEC investment is allocated for transportation. However, it is evident that transportation sector is substantial emitter of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas. Unfortunately, there is no empirical work on the subject of CPEC and carbon emission for vehicular transportation. This paper infers that empirical results from various other countries are ambiguous and inconclusive. Moreover, the evidence for the pollution haven hypothesis and the halo effect hypothesis is limited in general and inapplicable for CPEC in particular. The major contribution of this study is the proposal of an energy efficient transportation model for reducing CO2 emission. In the end, the paper suggests strategies to climate researchers and policymakers for adaptation and mitigation of greenhouse gases (GHG).

        Does Big Data Analytics Enhance Sustainability and Financial Performance? The Case of ASEAN Banks

        This study analyzes the key drivers (commitment, integration of big data, green supply chain management, and green human resource practices) of sustainable capabilities and the influence to which these sustainable capabilities impact the banks' environmental and financial performance. Additionally, this study analyzes the impact of green management practices on the integration of big data technology with operations. The theory of dynamic capability was deployed to propose and empirically test the conceptual model. Data was collected through a self-administrated survey questionnaire from 319 participants employed at 35 banks located in six ASEAN countries. The findings indicate that big data analytics strategies have an impact on internal processes and banks' sustainable and financial performance. This study indicates that banks committed towards proper data monitoring of its clients achieve operational efficiency and sustainability goals. Moreover, our results confirm that banks practising green innovation strategies experience better environmental and economic performance as the employees of these banks have received advance green human resource training. Finally, our study found that internal and external green supply chain management practices have a positive impact on banks' environmental and financial performance, which confirms that ASEAN banks contributing in reduction of environmental impact through its operations will ultimately experience increased financial performance.

        Equilibrium and kinetic study of adsorption of diazinon from aqueous solutions by nano-polypropylene-titanium dioxide: Optimization of adsorption based on response surface methodology (RSM) and central composite design (CCD)

        This study evaluated the applicability of the adsorption of a widely used organophosphorous pesticide named diazinon, from aqueous using a new composite consisting of nan-TiO2 and polypropylene (Nano-PP/TiO2). The Nano-PP/TiO2 was prepared by wet heat with submerging in an ultrasonic chamber. Extraction and analysis of diazinon were accomplished with dispersive liquid-liquid-microextraction and gas chromatography. By using FTIR, SEM, TEM, and BET technologies, specifications of Nano-PP/TiO2 structure were determined. Adsorption equilibrium and kinetics of diazinon were investigated in a batch reactor and the effects of adsorbent dose, contact time, and initial concentrations of diazinon were assessed. It was found that the two-parameter models arranged the data better than the three-parameter, and the equilibrium data was represented properly by the Langmuir. Additionally, it was identified that adsorption followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. To optimize the conditions for maximum adsorption of diazinon, response surface methodology was implemented the effects of factors on the adsorption efficiency were surveyed. The values of optimal initial diazinon concentration, contact time, and mass of Nano-PP/TiO2 were obtained at 10mg L1, 32.2min, and 2.25 g L1, respectively. Based on the results, the Nano-PP/TiO2 can be used as an effective and efficient adsorbent for the removal of diazinon from aqueous.

        A porous multifunctional and magnetic layered graphene oxide/3D mesoporous MOF nanocomposite for rapid adsorption of uranium(VI) from aqueous solutions

        A novel adsorbent, GO/Fe3O4/OPO3H2/PCN-222, was successfully synthesized via graphene oxide (GO)modification with magnetic particles, phosphorous-containing groups, and a mesoporous Zr-MOF, PCN-222 (PCN stands for Porous Coordination Network), respectively, to give the nominal composite. The laststep was through a solvent-assisted ligand incorporation technique. Morphological, structural, andphysicochemical properties of the hybrid material was assessed by FT-IR, PXRD, SEM/EDX, BET surfacearea, VSM, TGA/DSC, UV–vis DRS, and ICP-OES analyses. This solid was then used for dispersive solidphase extraction of uranium ions dissolved in water. Several parameters including pH of solution,extraction and desorption times, amount of adsorbent, and type and concentration of elution solventwere investigated and optimized. The maximum adsorption capacity of adsorbent was found to be416.7 mg g 1 (pH, 6.2; amount of adsorbent, 5.0 mg; extraction time, 3.0 min) beyond what wasachievable with the individual components. In addition, various coordination modes between themultifunctional adsorbent and uranyl ions were investigated by DFT calculations in details, revealingsome favorable non-covalent cation–p interaction and strong binding of free-base porphyrin, carboxyland phosphorous-containing groups to the uranium ions. Under optimized conditions, highdetermination coefficient (R2 = 0.9994) was obtained and limit of detection and relative standarddeviation were found 0.9 mg L 1 and 2.7%, respectively

        Photocatalytic degradation of dyes using semiconductor photocatalysts to clean industrial water pollution

        Textile industry represents a pollution problem worldwide due to the accidental discharge or dumping ofpolluted wastewater into the waterways, which is having a major influence on the quality of waterresources. Around 17–20% of industrial water pollution arises from textile dyeing and treatmentaccording to the World Bank report. This represents a large environmental challenge for textilemanufacturers. With growing environmental awareness, there is a need for environmentally-friendlytechnology to remove dyes from the industrial and local wastewater. The photo decolorization of dyes isconsidered as a favorable technology for industrial wastewater treatment techniques owing to itsenvironmentally friendly method, low cost, and lack of secondary pollution. The efficiency ofphotocatalysis system depends on the operational parameters that govern the adsorption andphotodegradation of dye molecules. This comprehensive review examines the operational factorsinfluencing the photo decolorization of dye molecules. Our study aims to review and summarize thepreviously published works and R&D progress in thefield of photocatalysis of various water pollutantssuch as the toxic organic compounds (cationic and anionic dyes) using various semiconductornanoparticles under visible, solar and UV irradiation. This paper examines the effects of operatingparameters on the photocatalytic degradation of textile dyes using various photocatalysts. Ourfindingsshowed that various parameters, like initial pH of the solution to be degraded, photocatalystconcentration, reaction temperature, dye concentration and dopants content exert their individualinfluence on the photocatalytic degradation of any dye. By investigating previous research to elucidatethe most significant active species for optimal photo decolorization reactions, this review providesguidelines that can be applied to the development of effective photodegradation systems. The results ofour study will help determine the most effective and economical options for removal of dyes in industrialwastewater.
