        Asttagalus membranaceis Bunge (황기), Atractylodes macrocephala Loidz(白朮), Angelica sinensis(Oliv) Kiels (當歸), Lycium chinense Mill (枸杞子), Ligustrum lucidum Ait(女貞子) are Herbs that are frequently used in a lot of prescriptions to reduce the side effects of anti-cancer therapies. especially like chemotherapy and rediotherapy. The radioprotective and hemopoietic effects of these Herbs on BALB/c spelnocytes and bone marrow cells are measured. In order to evaluate the Hemopoietic effects, Thymidine uptakes and secretion of colony stimulating factors(CSFs) of splenocytes and myelocytes treated with herbs were measured Radioprotective effects were accessed by the method of immunocompetence of murine lymphocytes cultured with herbs before irradiation and with LPS. ConA after irradiation. the results are as follows. 1. The oredrs of Proliferative effects of herbs on splenocytes were Atractylodes macrocephala Loidz(白朮), the higest of all, Astragalus membranaceus Bunge (황기), Angelica sinensis(Oiv) Kiels (當歸), 1.ycium chinense Mill(枸杞子) and Ligustrum Iucidum Ait(女貞子), the lowest of all. At Optimal concentration, the proliferation ratios of herb-treated splenocytes compared to non-treated ones were like these. Atractylodes macrocphala Loidz (白朮) 44.3, Astragalus membranaceus Bunge(황기)17.7, Angelica sinensis(Olv) Kiels (當歸) 10, Lycium chinense Mill (枸杞子) 6.4, Ligustrum lucidum Ait(女貞子) 2.0.(p<0.05) 2. When splenocytes were cultured during different periods, Atractylodes macrocephala Lojdz(白朮)and Astragalus membranaceus Bunge (황기) showed the higest proliferation on 3th day, Angelica sinensis(Oliv) Kiels (當歸), Lycium chinense Mill(枸杞子) on 4th day.(p<0.05) and Ligustrum lucidum Ait(女貞子) until 5th day but with no significant increase. 3. The orders of Proliferative effects of herbs on Bone Marrow(BM) cells were Atractylodes mactocephala Loidz (白朮), the higest of all, Astragalus membranaceus Bunge (황기), Angelica sinensis(Oliv) Kiels (當歸), Lycium chinense Mill (枸杞子) and Ligustrum lucidum Ait (女貞子), the lowest of all too, At Optimal concentration, tje proliferation ratios of herb-treated BM cells compared to non-treated ones were like these, Atractylodes macrocephala Loidz(白朮) 21.7, Astragalus membranaceus Bunge(황기) 9.9, Angelica sinensis(Oliv) Kiels (當歸) 4.9, Lycium chinese Mill(枸杞子) 2.3, Ligustrum lucidum Ait(女貞子) 1.4(p<0.05). 4. The secretion ration of colony stimulating factors(CSFs) of each herb-treated group, compared to control, was atractylodes macrocephala Loidz(白朮) 9.4, Astragalus membranaceus Bunge(황기) 9.0, Angelica sinensis(Oliv) Kiels (當歸) 4.4, Lycium chinense Mill 3.8(p<0.05) but no significant increase in Ligustrum Iucidum Ait (枸杞子). 5. The mitogen(ConA, LPS) stimulated-lymphocytes cultured with each herb before irradiation of 1-3 Gy showed more enhanced proliferation than control(p<0.05). When compared to each non-9rradiated group of all groups, the orders of percentage increase of irradiated group were Atractylodes macrocephala Loidz (白朮), the higest of all, Asiragalus membranaceus Bunge (황기), Angelica sinensis(Oliv) Kiels(當歸), Ligustrum lucidum Ait (女貞子), lycium chinense Mill (枸杞子), Each percentage showed significant enhancement compared to control group(p<0.05). According to the results, Atractylodes macrocephala Loidz(白朮), Astragalus membranaceus Bunge(황기) ar suggested to be the most effective hemopoietic and radioprotective herbs, and Angelica sinensis(Oliv) Kiels (當歸), Lycium chinense Mill (枸杞子) the next, but Ligustrum lucidum Ait(女貞子) showed lower dffects than expected.

        방사선(放射線) 조사후(照射後)의 N:GP(S) mouse 비장세포(脾臟細胞) 증식(增殖)에 미치는 보중익기탕(補中益氣湯)과 사육탕(四六湯)의 효과

        Radiotherapy is an irreplaceable method of cancer treatment but, it has various side effects, especially damage to the hemopoietic system. A lot of radioprotectors have been found but they also have toxic effects. Many kinds of crude drugs(Oriental Chinese medicine)with low toxicity have been reported to promote the recovery from radiation damage. Recently, the trial to combine radiotherapy with herbal treatment of cancer patients shows a desirable result, an enhancement in recovery of the blood system.. This study was performed to determine whether prescriptions to support the healthy energy and strengthen the body resistence, Buzhongyiqi-tang and Siliu-tang, promote the recovery of splenocytes of N:GP(s) mice from radiation damage. We investigated the proliferative effect of Buzhongyiqi-tang, Siliu-tang and EIB(ethanol insoluble fraction of Buzhongyiqi-tang) on N:GP(S)mice splenocytes before or after ${\gamma}$-irradiation. We also investigated the morphology of splenocytes cultured with these herbs. Buzhongyiqi-tang and Siliu-tang promoted the proliferation of splenocytes in a concentration of 0.1 mg/ml compared with normal control(p<0.001). After 1-5Gy of ${\gamma}$-irradiation they also showed the effect of recovery of hemopoietic cells, especially in Buzhongyiqi-tang(4Gy:p<0.005; 5Gy:p<0.05). In addition, EIB(ethanol insoluble fraction of Buzhongyiqi-tang) showed the highest proliferative effect of all agents suggesting that more effective fractions could be found from crude herbs or prescriptions. These results suggest that it is possible to make use of Buzhongyiqi-tang, Siliu-tang or EIB as radio-protective agents.

      • 放射線 照射後의 N:GP(S) mouse 脾臟細胞 增殖에 미치는 補中益氣湯 四六湯의 효과

        補中益氣湯은 健脾益氣의 치료효과를 가진 처방으로 氣虛로 인한 병증에 임상적으로 많이 활용되고 있는 扶正之劑이다. 四六湯은 補血養陰의 효과를 가지고 陰血虛의 병증에 적용되며 이 역시 扶正培本之劑에 속한다. 방사선에 피폭되면 백혈구와 조혈기구가 심한 손상을 받게 되어 血象의 변화로 인한 여러가지 부작용을 유발하고 심한 경우 사망하게 된다. 현재 방사선요법이 항암치료의 상당 부 분을 차지하고 있기 때문에 이의 부작용을 최소화할 수 있는 요법이 절실히 요구되어 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 한의학에서도 이러한 방사선부작용 억제에 효과가 있는 한약들이 적지 않게 증명되고 있는데 특히 扶正培本의 약재들의 효과가 뚜렷하다. 이에 방사선 부작용을 억제하는 한약의 효능을 관찰하고 그 작용기전을 규명해 방사선부작용경감요법으로서의 활용가능성을 알아보고자 본 실험을 시행하였다. 실험약은 대표적인 扶正培本藥인 補中益氣湯과 四六湯을 선정하여 마우스의 비장세포를 정상상태에서 체외배양하며 그 증식효과를 관찰하였는데 그 결과 補中益氣湯과 四六湯은 0.lmg/ml의 농도에서 정상대조군에 비하여 비장세포를 현저하게 증식시켰다(p<0.001). 그리고 방사선 조사선량 별(1-5 Gy)로 피폭된 비장세포의 증식촉진효과도 관찰하였는데, 특히 補中益氣湯에서 대조군에 비하여 비장세포의 회복촉진효과를 보였다(4Gy:p<0.005, 5Gyp<0.05). 이로 보아 補中益氣湯과 四六湯에는 직접 혈세포증식을 자극하는 효과가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 증식된 세포유형을 현미경적으로 관찰하였던 바 특정세포에 편중된 증식상황은 확인되지 않았다. 이러한 결과로 미루어 보아 補中益氣湯 및 四六湯에는 다양한 혈세포의 증식을 직접적으로 유도하는 효과가있는 것으로 사료된다. Buzhongyiqi-tahg and Siliu-tang promoted the proliferation of spknoutes in a concentration of 0.1mg/ml compared with normal contral(p<0.001). After 1-5Gy of γ-irradiation they also showed the effect of recovery of hemopoietic cells, especially in Buzhongyiqi-tang(4Gy:p<0.00.5; 5Gy:p<0.05). ln addition, EIB(ethanol insoluble fraction of Buzhongyiqi-tang) showed the highest proliferative effect of all agents suggesting that morc effedive fractions could be found from crude herbs or prescriptions. These results suggest that it is possible to make use of Buzhongyiqi-tang, Siliu-tang or EIB as radioprotective agents.

      • 내향성 족지 발톱의 전기 소작기를 이용한 수술적 치료

        Background : In the military, ingrown nails are common occurences. There are currently many viable methods of treatment available, but there is a possibility of recurrence, and there are instances where the infection has developed to a point where treatment becomes difficult. This report intends to introduce the possibility of using an electrocauter machine available at 16th Fighter Wing, where the author is posted, to treat ingrown nails. Method : From April 28 to September 2 2012, 8 cases from 7 patients suffering from ingrown nails were seen. The surgical procedures for those patients, were as follows: 1. After local anesthesia, removal of ingrown section of nail from within granulated tissue using a freer. 2. Approximate longitudinal incision of 1cm at the proximal nail fold, using a mass. 3. The removal of ingrown nail by using a pair of scissors by cutting up to the previous incision at the proximal nail fold. 4. Electrodessication of the nail matrix, after lifting incised nail fold using a pair of forceps 5. One stitch using nylon 3-0 Result : The stitch out period was on average, 18.4 days, and there were no recurrences. Conclusion : The author believes that the usage of the electrocauter machine is a relatively simple and better surgical procedure, with a low rate of recurrence, for the treatment of ingrown nails.

        사상체질(四象體質)과 최면반응성(催眠反應性)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究)

        Authors tried to investigate the relationship between sasang constitutions and hypnotizability in this study for the first time. HGSHS-K(Harvard Group Scale of Hypnotic Susceptibility-Korean Version) were administered to 121 male soldiers(21.8 65yr) in the army. And then 63 of them completed QSCC II(Questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification II). The results were as follows ; 1) The mean score of HGSHS-K was 7.39 1.77. 2) There were 32 high hypnotizable subjects(HGSHS-K score 8), and 29 low hypnotizable subjects(HGSHS-K score 7). 3) There were 22 So-Yang, 19 So-Eum, 22 Tae-Eum, no Tae-Yang subjects according to classification of QSCC II 4) There were no statistically significant differences in hypnotizability between So-Yang, So-Eum, and Tae-Eum groups(p=0.549).

        Objective: Biologic responses to color stimulation was observed and analyzed in relation with Korean medicine diagnostics. Methods: Twelve volunteers participated and completed the questionnaire on Hanyeol or Joseup patterns of Korean medicine diagnostics. Standard deviation of RR intervals (SDNN), an overall indicator of heart rate variability, was measured while wearing partially transparent acetate film glasses of various colors: (1) transparency or black, (2) red, green, or blue, or (3) cyan, or yellow. Results: Different responses to the color environmental stimulation were observed. Yeol pattern score was inversely related with the SDNN value under red color stimulation. Conclusion: This line of observations may serve as a basis of clinical application of color therapy, in particular, in relation with pattern diagnosis of Korean medicine, and may be applied in combination with existing electrodermal meridian measurement systems for better eval-uation of Gi (life energy) phenomenon.

        목적: 큰 대퇴골두를 사용한 세라믹-세라믹 관절면 무시멘트 고관절 전치환술의 임상적 및 방사선학적 결과를 분석하고자 하였다. 대상 및 농법: 36㎜의 대퇴골두를 사용한 세라믹-세라믹 관절면 무시멘트 고관절 전치환술을 시행하였던 환자 중 2년 이상 추시 가능하였던 환자 72예를 대상으로 하였다. 평균 연령은 62세(50-85), 평균 추시기간은 35.3개월 (25-53개월)이었다. 임상적 평가로는 Harris hip score와 서혜부 및 대퇴부 통증을 조시하였다. 방사선학적으로 각종 지표를 이용하여 분석하였다. 결과: 평균 Harris hip score는 술전 57.5점에서 최종 추시 시 94.8점으로 상승하였다. 고관절의 평균 운동범위는 굴곡 109° (100°-125°), 외회전 42° (35°-49°), 외전 35°(30°-45°)였다. 최종 추시 시 임상적으로 유의한 서혜부 통증이 1예 있었다. 추시 방사선 사진상 대퇴 삽입물의 진행성 수직침강이나 비구컵 정사도의 유의한 변화는 없었으며, 전례에서 안정성을 유지하였다. 방사선 투과 선은 대퇴측에서 4예 (5.6%), 비구측에서 2예(2.8%)에서 보였으며, 골내막 신생골 형성은 대퇴측에서 28예(38.9%), 비구측에서 26에(36.1%)에서 각각 관찰되었다. 골용해는 대퇴측과 비구측에서 모두 관찰되지 않았다. 결론: 큰 대퇴골두를 사용한 세라믹-세라믹 관절면 무시멘트 고관절 전치환술의 최소 2년 이상 추시 결과 임상적으로 만족스러운 결과를 얻었다. Purpose: The authors evaluated the clinical and radiological results of ceramic on ceramic articulation cementless total hip arthroplasty using a large diameter head. Materials and Methods: Seventy-two hips were followed for more than 2 years after ceramic on ceramic articulation cementless total hip arthroplasty using a 36 ㎜ diameter head. The mean patient age was 62 years (range 50-85), and the mean followup period was 35.3 months (range 25-53). The Harris hip score, the postoperative inguinal pain and the thigh pain were analyzed clinically. The radiological results were assessed using various radiological indices. Results: The mean Harris hip score improved from preoperative 57.5 points to postoperative 94.8 points The postoperative mean flexion of hip was 109° (range 100°-125°), external rotation was 42° (range: 35°-49°) and abduction was 35° (range: 30°-45°). There was one case of inguinal pain. Radiologically, all the stems demonstrated stable fixation without progressive subsidence of the stem or significant change in the cup obliquity. A radiolucent line was observed around the stem in 4 cases (56%) and around the cup in 2 cases (28%). Endosteal new bone formation was observed around the stem in 28 cases (38.9%) and around the cup in 26 cases (361 %) There was no osteolysis around the stem or the cup. Conclusion: The short-term results of ceramic on ceramic cementless total hip arthroplasty using a large diameter head demonstrated satisfactory results.
