As for trade in goods, China has already been regarded as our major trading partner. Out trade surplus with China has amounted to about 10 billion won, but still smaller than that of China with the United States. To promte trade with China, we must understand general nationality of Chinese people, and Chinese merchants' commercial morality, which is different depending on regions. Nationality of Chinese people is summarized as follows: ① conservative familism, ② dignity-oriented strong pride, ③ bureaucratic relationship and egoism, ④ fatalistic optimism, ⑤ indulgence into money and excellent merchant spirit, ⑥ moderate pacifism, ⑦ diligence and economy life, ⑧ vague dialectic. In addition, commercial morality of Chinese merchants divided into 16 regions is as the following: ① Shanghai, ② Zhejiang, ③ Hong Kong, ④ Fujian, ⑤ Guangdong, ⑥ Shaanxi, ⑦ Xinjiang, ⑧ Beijing, ⑨ Henan, ⑩ Sichuan, ⑪ Hunan and Hubei, ⑫ Anhui, ⑬ Shandong, ⑭ Shanxi, ⑮ Tianjin, ⑯ Dongbei. It may be helpful to understand such regional characteristics of Chinese merchants for sucessful business with China.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to estimate the prevalence and correlated factors of high myopia in 19 year-old men in Southeast Korea. Methods: This retrospective study was based on the medical checkup data of conscription during 2005. The study subjects were 19 years old men in Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongsangnam-do. The health checkup data of the conscripts consisted of noncycloplegic autorefraction test, the biometric data and social factors. To analyze the social and biometric effects, we classified the biometric factors into 4 or 5 groups and the social factors into 3 groups. High myopia was defined as a spherical equivalent of under -6.0 diopter. Data analysis was performed using the chi square test for trends and multiple logistic regression analysis. The SAS(version 9.1) program was used for all the analyses. Results: The prevalence of high myopia was 12.39% (6256 / 50 508). The factors correlated with high myopia were the residence area (OR, 2.07; 95% CI, 1.77 to 2.4 for small city; OR, 2.01; 95% CI, 1.72 to 2.34 for metropolis; the reference group was rural area), academic achievement (OR, 1.43; 95% CI, 1.34 to 1.53 for students of 4-and 6-year-course university; the reference group was high school graduates & under) and blood pressure (OR, 1.54; 95% CI, 1.10 to 2.16 for hypertension; OR, 1.09; 95% CI, 1.02 to 1.17 for prehypertension; OR, 1.10; 95% CI, 1.01 to 1.20 for hypotension; the reference group was normal blood pressure). Conclusions: More than one tenth of the young men were high myopia as one of the risk factor for visual loss. Further studies on high myopia and its complications are needed to improve eye health in Southeast Korea.

In order to evaluate wind environmental influences for a target apartment complex nearby industrial complex areas, the scale-down model of target area was placed in a boundary layer wind tunnel and the velocity fields were measured using a PIV velocity field measurement technique for two main wind directions. For each experimental condition, 350 instantaneous velocity fields were obtained and ensemble-averaged to get the mean velocity field. Flow speed was decreased near ground and local velocity fluctuations were increased in the upper region due to presence of hills and buildings around the target area. Especially, for the wind blown from the industrial complex areas, since pollutants can be concentrated in the regions of flow separation and low-speed flow, the high-rise apartments should be arranged properly to reduce this problem. 공단지역에 인접한 특정 아파트단지에 대한 풍환경 영향을 평가하기 위하여 주변지역의 축소 모형을 대기경계층 풍동에 설치하고 사업지구로 유입되는 주요 풍향에 대해서 PIV기법으로 사업지구 대기경계층의 전체 속도장을 측정하였다. 평균속도장은 연속적으로 취득한 순간속도장 350장을 앙상블 평균하여 구하였다. 사업지구 주변에 위치해 있는 구릉지와 건축구조물들이 지표면 부근의 대기유동의 풍속을 감소시키고, 고도 상층부에서 속도변동성분을 국부적으로 증가시켰다. 특히, 오염원 방향에서 불어오는 바람의 경우, 사업지구 내부에 형성된 박리유동구간이나 저속 유동영역에서 정체될 가능성이 있으므로 고층아파트들을 적절히 배치하여야 한다.
