DEVELOPMENT OF MARS-GCR/V1 FORTHERMAL-HYDRAULIC SAFETY ANALYSIS OF GASCOOLEDREACTOR SYSTEMS

In an effort to develop a thermal-hydraulic (TH) safety analysis code for Gas-cooled Reactors (GCRs), the MARS code, which was primarily developed for TH analysis of water reactor systems, has been extended here for application to GCRs. The modeling requirements of the system code were derived from a review of major processes and phenomena that are expected to occur during normal and accident conditions of GCRs. Models for code improvement were then identified through a review of existing MARS code capability. Among these, the following priority models necessary for the analysis of limiting high and low pressure conduction cooling events were evaluated and incorporated in MARS-GCR/V1: 1) Helium (He) and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) as main system fluids, 2) gas convection heat transfer, 3) radiation heat transfer, and 4) contact heat transfer models. Each model has been assessed using various conceptual problems for code-to-code benchmarks and it was demonstrated that MARS-GCR/V1 is capable of capturing the relevant phenomena. This paper describes the models implemented in MARSGCR/ V1 and their verification and validation results.

In order to clarify the shape control mechanism of nonmetallic inclusions in molten steel, the morphology changes of oxide and sulfide inclusions were investigated by Ca treatment in Al-deoxidized steel at 1600℃. The Ca addition of suitableamount into Al-deoxidized steel considerably improved the degree of steel cleanliness because the alumina cluster formed after Al-deoxidization changed to liquid phase calcium-aluminates which float out rapidly from steel bath. And also, when total oxygen content in molten steel was less than about 20ppm, MnS sulfide and Al₂O₃oxide were modified to C type inclusions such as (Ca, Al, Mn) O-(Ca, Mn) S or CaO-Al₂O₃-CaS
동물플랑크톤 Harpacticoid , Tigriopus japonicus Mori 배양에 유효한 해양세균의 탐색

T. japonicus의 培養에 有效한 먹이 미생물을 탐색하기 위하여, T. japonicus가 서식하는 tide pool 현장 해수 및 해조류에서 264균주를 分離, 각 菌株에 대한 먹이효과 실험을 하였던 결과, 各 生長段階別로 세균種이 달랐다. 즉 nauplius기, copepodite기 및 成體의 各期에 가장 有效한 먹이 세균은 Acinetobacter sp. AG-3뿐이고, Moraxella spp., Flavobacterium spp.는 copepodite기 이후에, Pseudomonas spp.는 成體기의 먹이 효과가 있었다. 이것은 tide pool속의 많은 세균중 극히 일부에 속하며, 먹이 세균의 최적 농도는 10^6 cell/㎖로 tide pool 평균 생균수 농도에 거의 일치 하였다. In order to fine some proper bacterial food for Tigriopus japonicus, bacterial flora of the tide pool inhabited by the copepod has been isolated and tested as bacterial food. Food effect and optimum density of the bacteria in terms of survival rate of the copepod was measured in the larval and the adult stages. Among the 264 strains of isolated bacteria, Acinetobacter spp. Moraxella, spp., Flavobacterium spp. and Pseudomonas spp. were certified as effective food for the copepod. According to the experimental results, Acinetobacter spp. AG-3 was the most effective food for all the stages from nauplius to adult, while Moraxella spp. and Flavobacterium spp. were effective for copepodite stage, and Pseudomonas spp. for the adult stage only. The optimum density of bacteria for the food was about 10^6 cell/㎖, which was the same average density of bacteria in the tide pool.
Primary Duodenal Mucosa-associated Lymphoid Tissue Lymphoma Treated with Radiation Therapy Alone

Primary mucosa-associated with a lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma is a rare distinct subtype of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma that occurs in approximately 8% of all non-Hodgkin lymphomas. Primary gastrointestinal MALT lymphoma usually occurs in the stomach, but duodenal involvement is extremely rare. Therefore, the clinical manifestations, treatment, and prognosis of primary duodenal MALT lymphoma have not yet been validated because of its rarity. This paper reports a case of a 40-year-old male with primary duodenal MALT lymphoma who was treated successfully with radiation therapy alone. A 40-year-old male visited for a medical check-up. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed whitish multi-nodular mucosal lesions in the second and third portions of the duodenum. Biopsy specimens from mucosal lesions in the duodenum were reported to be suspicious for MALT lymphoma of the duodenum. He received a total dose of 3,000 cGy in 15 fractions with external beam radiation therapy for three weeks. Three months after radiation therapy, an endoscopic examination revealed complete resolution of the duodenal lesions. The follow-up 12 months after radiation therapy showed no evidence of tumor recurrence.
