For the purpose of disclosing noise characteristics of offset printing machines and obtaining reference materials for the prevention of occupational deafness of their operators, sound levels and octave band sound pressure levels of 117 machines in 53 printing firms in Seoul and Kimpo-gun area, were investigated with special reference to their maximum paper size, the speed of rollers, the number of printing colors and the age of the machines. The results were as follows : 1. About fifty-seven percent of 468 noise measurements showed sound levels of 85-89 dB(A) and about 9% showed sound levels of 90-94 dB(A). The majority of machines investigated belonged to low frequency type noise sources. 2. Sound levels of printing machines increased as the maximum paper size increased. 3. Sound levels of printing machines increased as the speed of rollers increased. 4. Sound levels of printing machines tended to increase up to 4-color printing processes as the number of printing colors increased. 5. Sound levels of printing machines tended to increase in parallel with the age of machines up to 15 years. 6. Stepwise multiple regression analyses showed that sound levels were most significantly contributed by the maximum paper size, followed by the speed of rollers. Meanwhile, octave band sound pressure levels were most significantly contributed by the maximum paper size in lower frequencies, followed by the speed of rollers, On the other hand, in higher frequency zones, sound pressure levels were significantly contributed by the speed of rollers which was follewed by the maximum paper size.

The aim of this study is to get high strength concrete products using Ettringite based additives. It has been obtained that Ettringite based additives is effective for steam curing and by replacing 10∼30%, compressive strength is over 400kgf/㎠, which has been increased as 100k호/㎠. When the ratio of cement is 30%, compressive strength for a day is over 600kgf/㎠, and 700kgf/㎠ for 28days, which have been also increased as 300kgf/㎠, by replacing Silica fume 10% and Ettringite additives 10∼30%. It means that Ettringite based additives is effective for producing high strength concrete in steam curing, and its effectiveness can be increased with Silica fume. Hence, it is noted thatEttringite based additives is useful for producing high strength concrete.

Purpose: Arguments are continuously raised with regard to life support therapy performed on dying patients who cannot be recovered through treatment. Therefore, this study surveyed doctors and nurses working in emergency departments in order to investigate their awareness on DNAR (Do-Not-Attempt-Resuscitate) and the changes in patient management provided after DNAR. Methods: We conducted a survey of health care provider’s cognition regarding DNAR in six emergency departments. Results: A total of 54 doctors and 148 nurses participated in the survey; 75.7% of participants indicated that patient management was changed after DNAR. No difference in answers with regard to what should be maintained after DNAR was observed between doctors and nurses. However, in answers for what is maintained in practice, differences were observed for the following items: ‘vital sign check’ (87% vs. 97.3%, p=0.004), ‘input/output control’(75.9% vs. 91.2%, p=0.004), ‘vasopressor’ (33.3% vs. 57.4%, p=0.002), and ‘antibiotics or blood products’ (53.7%vs. 74.3%, p=0.005). Conclusion: Both doctors and nurses thought that patient management was changed after DNAR. However, differences in some opinions were observed between the two groups. In order to overcome such differences, it is important for health care providers to carry out more discussions in relation to DNAR and to develop appropriate guidelines for Korean society.

Transient ischemia within the posterior circulation supplied by the vertebrobasilar artery system is a common cause of episodic dizziness in older patients. Vertebrobasilar insufficieny (VBI) has been used as an umbrella term indicating a hemodynamic cause of all cases of posterior-circulation ischemia. VBI could show the characteristic combination of symptoms such as diplopia, visual field defect,ataxia, motor weakness, hearing loss and sensory change. However, occasionally vertigo can occur in isolation. The symptoms of VBI usually come on abruptly, last a few minutes, and then end abruptly, usually with minimal or no residual symptoms. As a rapidly advancing technology for noninvasive imaging of cerebral arteries like magnetic resonance angiography, conventional cerebral angiography has been substituted even though it is still the gold standard. VBI could be treated by a proper medical treatment with antiplatelet agents or anticoagulants and by a control of vascular risk factors (i.e., hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, smoking, etc.). Also there are increasing evidences that vertebrobasilar angioplasty and stenting may become important therapeutic strategies for large-artery vertebrobasilar disease.
