BACKGROUND: We have designed a reinforced drug-loaded vascular graft composed of polycaprolactone (PCL) and polydioxanone (PDO) via a combination of electrospinning/3D printing approaches. To evaluate its potential for clinical application, we compared the in vivo blood compatibility and performance of PCL/PDO ? 10%DY grafts doped with an antithrombotic drug (dipyridamole) with a commercial expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (e-PTFE) graft in a porcine model. METHODS: A total of 10 pigs (weight: 25–35 kg) were used in this study. We made a new 5-mm graft with PCL/PDO composite nanofiber via the electrospinning technique. We simultaneously implanted a commercially available e-PTFE graft (n = 5) and our PCL/PDO ? 10%DY graft (n = 5) into the carotid arteries of the pigs. No anticoagulant/antiplatelet agent was administered during the follow-up period, and ultrasonography was performed weekly to confirm the patency of the two grafts in vivo. Four weeks later, we explanted and compared the performance of the two grafts by histological analysis and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). RESULTS: No complications, such as sweating on the graft or significant bleeding from the needle hole site, were seen in the PCL/PDO ? 10%DY graft immediately after implantation. Serial ultrasonographic examination and immunohistochemical analysis demonstrated that PCL/PDO ? 10%DY grafts showed normal physiological blood flow and minimal lumen reduction, and pulsed synchronously with the native artery at 4 weeks after implantation. However, all e-PTFE grafts occluded within the study period. The luminal surface of the PCL/PDO ? 10%DY graft in the transitional zone was fully covered with endothelial cells as observed by SEM. CONCLUSION: The PCL/PDO ? 10%DY graft was well tolerated, and no adverse tissue reaction was observed in porcine carotid models during the short-term follow-up. Colonization of the graft by host endothelial and smooth muscle cells coupled with substantial extracellular matrix production marked the regenerative capability. Thus, this material may be an ideal substitute for vascular reconstruction and bypass surgeries. Long-term observations will be necessary to determine the anti-thrombotic and remodeling potential of this device.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been used as an alternative to non-operative treatments for increasing the rate of cure in bone and soft-tissue regeneration, although there are very few clinical studies regarding the treatment of articular cartilage damage. Therefore, our study proposes non-surgical intervention for patients with articular car-tilage damage and who are experiencing knee pain caused by this damage. This study was conducted as a single medical center. It was an uncontrolled, prospective clinical trial, and the study subjects included 44 patients who were suffering from early osteoarthritis and degenerative chondropathy; they were between 18 and 65 years of age and were included in the study irregardless their sex. PRP was injected twice intraarticulary within an interval of four weeks. The pain scores and functional scores were compared two months, four months, and six months follow-ing the second injection was completed, using the VAS, the Lysholm knee scale, and the Cincinnati knee rating sys-tem. There were no complications related to the PRP injection. The pain experienced by the study patients two months after the PRP injection was reduced compared to the pain felt before the injection, and the reduction in pain after four and six months compared to the pain experienced two months after the PRP injection was statistically sig-nificant. From a functional viewpoint, there was a statistically significant improvement in their pain during the entire follow-up period. Our study results suggest that PRP injection is an effective and safe treatment for the management of early osteoarthritis and degenerative chondropathy, as seen in this clinical trial.

식도암 수술 시 종격동 림프절 절제는 식도암의 재발과 관련하여 환자의 장기 생존율을 높이는 하나의 방법이다. 하지만 좌측 종격동 림프절 절제는 수술 시야의 제한으로 인해 절제가 거의 불가능하다. 이에 본원에서는 식도암 최소 침습 수술 시 경부 절개창을 통하여 흉강경을 이용한 좌측 종격동 림프절 절제를 시행하였기에 보고하는 바이다.
건설R&D기술 표준화 특성 및 활성화 방안 도출에 관한 연구

최근 전산업에 걸쳐 기술표준화에 대한 관심이 증가되고 있으며, 원천기술을 국제표준에 반영한 표준특허 즉, 표준에 특허가 포함되어 이 표준을 사용할 경우 반드시 포함된 특허의 권리를 침해하게 되는 특허의 확보여부가 기업의 생존에 큰 영향을 미치고 있다. 건설기술은 국민생활에 필수적이며 다분야 산업기술의 적용으로 사회기반시설을 완성하며 국가경제에 파급효과가 큰 기반기술이지만, 타산업에 비해 기술표준에 대한 투자와 관심이 저조한 편이다. 이에 본 연구는 국내 건설R&D를 통한 기술 표준화 가치를 제고하기 위해 관련 문헌고찰 및 R&D 수행현황 조사 및 분석을 수행하였다. 또한, 관련 전문가 인식도 조사를 통해 표준화가 건설산업에 미치는 영향을 모형화함으로써 향후 건설기술분야 국가경쟁력 확보를 위한 체계적인 건설R&D기술 표준화 활성화 방안을 도출하였다. Recently, there is a growing interest in technical standardization all over industry, it is very important for survival in the global market to secure standard patent in almost all of company. Technology in construction industry is essential for quality of people's life and have large impact on national economy development. However, there is lack of investment and low interest in technical standardization in construction industry in comparison with another industries. Therefore this study aims at developing strategies for activating the standardization in construcion technology. Specially, this study carries market analysis and case study for domestic construction R&D Cases. Then, a structured survey and analysis is performed for standardization in construcion technology market to suggest alternative to secure national competitiveness.
