        Production of Liquiritigenin with Cell-based Biotransformation and Its Anti-Aging Activity

        In this study, an efficient whole cell-based biotransformation for the production of liquiritigenin was developed using Laetiporus sulphureus CS0218 as biocatalyst and aqueous extracts of Glycyrrhiza uralensis as co-substrate, respectively. In order to determine the efficacy of this method, the optimal bioconversion conditions including mycelial growth, three important enzyme activities (${\beta}$-glucosidase, ${\alpha}$-rhamnosidase and ${\beta}$-xylosidase), and apparent viscosity of culture broth were monitored. After optimization, aqueous extracts of G. uralensis were added to the culture medium to directly produce algycone liquiritigenin. By applying this strategy, 67.5% of liquiritin was converted to liquiritigenin at pH 3.0 after 9 days of incubation and finally liquiritigenin was purified from the reaction mixture. And then, their biological activities including anti-oxidant and superoxide dismutase were observed. In fact, purified liquiritigenin was capable of bi-directional functions (i.e., either up-regulation or down-regulation of SIRT1 which is associated with aging). The results indicate that this strategy would be beneficial to produce biologically active liquiritigenin and could be used in pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food applications.

        Rosai-Dorfman disease is a rare disorder of unknown of etiology and is usually associated with benign proliferation of hematopoietic and fibrous tissue that often manifest in the head and neck region. We report a case of extranodal Rosai-Dorfman disease presenting in the neck, subglottis and nasal floor diagnosed by voice change.

        유산 경험이 있는 여성 공황장애 환자의 임상적 특성

        Objectives The objective of this study is to investigate differences in clinical characteristics between female panic disorder (PD) patients with abortion history (PD+A) and without abortion history (PD-A). Methods We examined data from 341 female patients diagnosed with PD. We divided the patients with PD into PD+A (82 patients) and PD-A (259 patients) to compare demographic and clinical characteristics. The following instruments were applied : stress coping strategies, NEO-neuroticism, the Anxiety Sensitivity Index-Revised (ASI-R), the Albany Panic and Phobia Questionnaire (APPQ), the Beck Depression Inventory, the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and the Sheehan Disability Scale. Results Compared to the PD-A, the PD+A group showed no significant difference in coping strategies. However, significantly higher scores in neuroticism, the ASI-R, the APPQ and the BAI were observed. In terms of health-related disability, the PD+A group did not show significant difference. Conclusions Our results suggest that the PD+A group may differ from the PD-A group in trait markers such as neuroticism and anxiety sensitivity, and abortion history may be associated with panic-related symptom severity. Our study suggests that further consideration is needed on such clinical characteristics in PD patients with abortion history.

        설화를 통한 자기성찰 방법의 실행 연구

        이 연구는 설화를 매개로 하여 자기성찰의 교육 방법을 수행하고 그 결과를 분석하는 실행 연구이다. 이 연구에서 말하는 자기성찰은 이미 완전히 만들어진 자기를 되돌아보는것이 아니라, 상징적이며 문화적인 매개를 통해 자기를 발견, 형성하고 변화시키는 것까지 포괄한다. 자기성찰을 위해 이 연구는 두 단계의 교육적 프로그램을 구성하였다. 그 하나는설화에 대한 즉각적인 반응으로 공감과 거리감 반응을 기술하게 한 것이고, 다른 하나는그러한 반응에 대한 메타적인 반응을 쓰게 한 것이다. 이 연구에서는 메타반응지를 분석하여 설화를 통한 자기성찰의 작용을 이해하려 하였다. 메타반응지는 자기성찰이 이루어지는 다양한 방식을 보여주었다. 첫째는 이미 알고 있는 자기의 재확인으로서 여기에는 자신의 체험에 조회하여 기존의 자기를 재생산하거나 가치의식을 강화하는 하위 유형이 있다. 둘째 유형은 자기에 대한 앎이 증진되는 것이다. 이 유형에는 지각 방식과 관점의 이해, 가치 명료화, 강박된 관심에 대한 이해 등의자기 성찰 방식이 속한다. 마지막으로, 몰랐던 자기 탐구라는 셋째 유형 분류에는 부정형의 발견과 공존이라는 자기성찰의 양상이 기술될 수 있었다. This study is action research which performed educational method for self-reflection through narratives and analyzed the result of that. The self-reflection, asmentioned in this study, included not only just reflecting themselves madecompletely and already, but also the finding, forming and changing of themselvesby the medium of others which is symbolic and cultural. For designing the educational program of self-reflection, this study set up the two stages.

      • 전승사의 관점에서 본 채만식의 <심봉사> 연구

        This study is about the < Sim, The Blind > which written by Chae, Man-Sik with one novel and two dramas. His works are a response on the question which had been made while the traditional story about 'Sim-Chung' was transmitted. < Simcheong-Jeon(沈靑 傳) >'s theme is 'Hyo[孝: filial piety]' and the heroine 'Sim- Cheong' who sacrificed herself for her blind father, is a personification of 'Hyo'. As a modern writer, Chae, Man-Sik made the answer to the question like these, 'what is 'Hyo' in his days?', as to say, 'what is a good relation of parents and offsprings in this modern society?'. His works have a signification in the point of showing the fusion of horizons between the tradition and the modern. And, those can play the important role to make understood the tradition handed down in the structure of demanding and answering. Chae, Man-Sik transformed the traditional story in three points. First of all, he expelled the magical power which guaranteed the reward given to the people who did good deeds. Second, he reformed 'Sim, the blind' from the pity to the victim of the desire to success in the a government official's career. And, his wife and his daughter were the scapegoats for the blind desire. This is similar to the capitalistic desire which is indiscriminate in qualities. The last point, he transformed the happy end to the tragic end. In his works, Sim, the blind recovered his sight wishing to see the face of his daughter, Sim-Chung. But, on the spot of recognizing of the death of her, he thrust his eyes with his fingers. With this, the rewriting texts show the dilemma between the individual and the world. Chae, Man-Sik made his answers on the tradition of Sim- Cheong's story through rewriting that. In modern society, the virtue of 'Hyo' is losing the effect, what is worse, is exploited by capitalistic desire which can possess the parents. This is the answer made by the modern novelist, Chae, Man-Sik to the relatively eternal issue of life. He shows the possible way to transmit the tradition. And, his method should be introduced to the present students who are subjects to hand over the tradition and make that in their cultural horizon.

        스릴러 영화의 남성 중심적 서사에 대한 비평적 접근

        본고는 최근 주류 장르로 진입한 남성 중심적 서사로서의 한국형 스릴러가 한국사회라는 특정 콘텍스트를 서사의 기반으로 한다는 전제 아래 〈아저씨〉와 〈악마를 보았다〉에 대한 비평적 분석을 시도했다. 대중영화 또는 담론을 현실의 모순을 상상적으로 해결하는 형식이라고 할 때, 두 영화는 한국사회의 모순이 응집된 존재인 안타고니스트의 정체를 밝히고 그들이 가해온 분열을 통합하기 위한 남성주체의 복수를 서사화하고 있다. 분석의 과정에서 한국사회에서 안타고니스트뿐 아니라 복수의 수행자인 프로타고니스트 역시 각각 남성주체로서 공적 영역의 균열뿐 아니라 사적 영역의 위기를 겪고 있음이 밝혀졌다. 그러나 두 영화는 다소 상이한 결론에 도달함으로써 대중의 정서구조에 각각 다른 형식으로 소구한다. 〈아저씨〉는 복수의 성공을 통해 가족을 회복과 공사영역의 수호가 가능하다는 판타지를 만들었으며 〈악마를 보았다〉는 물리적 복수에는 성공했으나 가해자의 잔영이 남아있는 상황에 대한 우려를 떨치지 못한 남성주체의 불안을 보여줌으로써 과거를 반성하고 현실을 직시하는 새로운 서사의 출현을 예감케 한다. The purpose of this study is to analyze 〈The Man from Nowhere〉 & 〈I Saw the Devil〉 through the hypothesis which thriller films based their narratives on the specific characteristics of Koeran society have became mainstream genre in recent Korean film industry. In the viewpoint that popular films and discourses provide the imaginary form of solving problems which threatens the maintenance of status quo in real world. 〈The Man from Nowhere〉 & 〈I Saw the Devil〉 intend to disclose the identities of antagonist who condense the contradiction of Korean Society and then represent protagonist's practices to integrate disruptions from that contradictions through being a revenger. In the process of reading texts, the fact that there are some crisis in Korean Society not only public realm but also private realm and male-subjects as protagonists struggle for protecting private realm has revealed. But each film appeals to the public using two different narrative strategies. 〈The Man from Nowhere〉 has got popularity by making a fantasy which male-subject success to rebuild the family and punish antagonist severely. In the meantime the protagonist of 〈I Saw the Devil〉 cannot believe his victory, this kinds of anxiety might come from the traces of antagonist as reflects so many contradictions of Korean Society. At this point, we can expect there will be something new which retrospect our own history and gaze reality itself without ideologically given complex in Korean films in the near future.

        한류와 한국어문학 ; 한류의 학문적 전환과 창조적 모색 : 한국 드라마로 이어지는 고전서사의 전통 -드라마 <적도의 남자>(2012)를 중심으로-

        이 글에서는 한류의 주역 중 하나인 드라마를 대상으로 삼아, 한국 서사문화의 전통이 드라마로 이어짐을 살펴보았다. 서사문화의 전통이 문화적 유전자처럼 작용하여 현대의 드라마로 이어진다는 관점에서 보았을때, 한국인이 선호하는 제재와 서사, 한국인이 그럴듯하다고 여기는 인물형상화 방식 등이 있으며, 이는 현대를 배경으로 하는 드라마에서도 발현된다고 할 수 있다. 이에 본고에서는 최근 드라마 <적도의 남자>를 중심으로, 이 드라마가, 인도에서 중국을 거쳐 우리나라로 유입된 <선우태자전> 및 이를 소설적으로 변용한 <적성의전>과 상관성이 있음을 밝히는 동시에 이 작품이 전승사의 흐름을 어떻게 변화시키는지 고찰하였다. 세 작품을 비교한 결과를 요약 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 서사 구조적인 면에서 상동성을 확인할 수 있다. 둘째, 인물 관계 면에서 인물의 이름이나 처지 등은 다르지만 그 서사적 기능은 유사하다. 셋째, 작품이 말하고자 하는 바인 주제의 측면에서 세 작품의 관계를 살펴보았다. 주제는 같지 않으나 앞선 이야기에 대한 반응과 자기 응답으로서 대화를 이어 나간다는 점이 관건이다. If cultural genes exist, the subject material or structure form, topic, and cultural memory of traditional stories can be transferred through it. Consequently, traditionally influential motive, structural form that interest consumers, a touching story that is considered as viture in the eyes of community, etc. have the narrative qualities to propel itself even within the diachronically changing media environment and culture. In such view, this study made its main subject of research, not modern Korean drama and especially based on traditional society, but drama in which no classic piece character appears. The reason why a drama in which same generation characters based on a modern society was chosen is because although drama doesn`t necessarily show relationship to traditional narrative, there is enough traditional narrative qualities contained within.

        일반 논문 : 「협창기문」의 독자 반응 연구 -작품 해석과 도덕적 평가의 관련성을 중심으로-

        Literatures could be materials to experience life problems in a symbolic dimension, and student-readers could cultivate their mental forms for interpretation of literary texts and evaluation of life issues. On this perspective, this study shows that the interpretation of texts and moral evaluation are closely related in structurally. Lee, Ok(李鈺)`s ?Hyeop-chang-gi-mun(俠娼紀聞)? is a proper text for open- interpretation. With this text, student-readers made their moral evaluation of the ``kisang(妓生)`` who killed herself with fatal drinking and sex. Results are as follows: Affective readers who focused on characters` feelings tried to evaluate the character`s motive after imagination of the relationship between the kisang and the man who died with her. Cognitive readers operated their ``moral imagination`` along interpretive clues to explore other possibilities of life, or evaluated the behavior of kisang in the light of moral principles. Meanwhile, readers who attached importance to the narration, made their evaluations of practicing attitudes for moral behaviors.

        현대 패션에 나타난 불확정서의 의미해석

        In a fast changing postmodern society, contemporary fashion is becoming more complicated and ambiguous along with other genres of art than ever before. This phenomenon reigning as a sociocultural paradigm can be defined as indeterminacy and it means ``undecidability``. The purpose of this study is to clarify and analyze the indeterminate characteristics of contemporary fashion reviewing the theoretical background and the architectural formativeness as a comparative research. The core idea of deconstructivism dismantles a causal relationship between function and form in fashion and the conventional notion about clothes. Complexity theory, which is the study of chaotic dynamical systems, suggests the creative idea and concept of infinite possibilities on a formative method. Meanwhile, catastrophe theory of discontinuous change can be used as interpretative strategies for the process of deconstruction and reconstruction. As a result of this study, the indeterminacy of fashion can be analyzed into five semantic categories: irregularity, immateriality, randomness, complexity and changeability. The intrinsic value of the indeterminacy in contemporary fashion is the interaction with a sociocultural ideology and a technological environment as well as an expansion of formative expression. To conclude, it can be said that the indeterminacy in fashion is a new interpretation of the relationship among body and space, clothes and society.
