Modular design methodology is a very important design methodology that allows production of the maximal types of products with the minimal types of components and extending the components’ compatibility to different types of products to satisfy a variety of customers. However, existing modular design methods do not consider customers’ adaptability for products requiring physical interaction between different parts of body and product components. Our study proposes a modular design methodology from the perspective of maximum customer satisfaction considering physical interaction between human and product. Modular design of office chair is chosen as a case study to develop a modular design methodology for products with improved adaptability for customers of various body sizes. The proposal consists of customer requirement analysis, modularization, and modularization assessment procedure. Also the proposal includes a method to determine size variation of defined modules at the detail product design stage for mass customization.

우리나라 전력산업사의 큰 이정표가 될 한국표준형 원전 울진 4호기의 준공식이 지난 2월 24일 경북 울진의 한국전력공사 울진 원자력본부에서 박태준 국무총리, 김영호 산업자원부장관 등 중앙인사와 이의근 경북도지사, 신정 울진 군수 및 지역주민이 참석한 가운데 거행되었다. 1998년 8월 준공된 최초의 한국표준형 원전인 울진 3호기에 이어 두 번째 한국표준형 원전 울진 4호기가 이번에 중공 됨으로써, 1992년 5월 본관기초굴착을 시작한 이래, 7년여의 긴 시간을 거쳐 마침내 우리 기술로 지은 최초의 한국표준형 원자력발전소 건설사업이 완료되었다.

Korea Ocean Research and Development Institute (KORDI) has attempted moored current measurements since 1978. This note describes mooring types and failures of moorings deployed in coastal and continental shelf regions around Korea. Taut-wire U-type mooring lines and trawl-resistant bottom mounts have been mainly used in shallow seas. In order to avoid the failure of moorings in the shallow seas, it is needed to (1) design a proper mooring plan considering local mooring environments including fishing activities and (2) use adequate mooring equipments and parts considering mooring period, depth, and other factors that could affect the mooring unexpectedly. 한국해양연구원에서는 1978년이래 해류계 계류에 의한 해류관측을 실시하였다. 본 단보에서는 한국주변의 연안역과 대륙붕해역에서 시도하였던 계류 형태와 계류 실패 사례를 소개하고자 한다. 천해역에서는 U-type 계류와 트롤방지 해저 계류장치를 이용한 해류관측 방법이 주로 이용되었다. 천해역에서 계류 실패를 피하기 위해서는 (1) 어로활동을 포함한 계류현장의 환경을 고려하여 적절한 계류 계획을 세워야 하며 (2) 계류기간과 수심 및 기타 예기치 않게 계류선에 영향을 줄 수 있는 제반 요인 등을 고려하여 적절한 계류용품이 사용되어야 한다

An interest in deep-sea measurements has been gradually increased in association with global warming and the need for deep-sea resources development. Long-term mooring of current meters has been recently conducted primarily for these purposes. In general, current meters equipped on a mooring line are deployed and recovered for a planned period in the sea. This paper describes all the preparations for deepsea mooring. It also reviews the possible causes of the failures of recovery, which occasionally happens in the sea.
Tracking the Joints of Arthropod Legs using Multiple Images and Inverse Kinematics

Negligible research has been conducted on the systematic analysis of small animals, such as lizards and arthropods. Furthermore,few studies in the area use digitized data obtained from animals. Currently, the motion analysis of most living creatures is carriedout using optical motion capture systems. However, these systems are inapplicable to small animals because of the difficulty inattaching optical markers to them. Ongoing research on markerless motion capture technology aims to solve this problem, but mostof those studies have been conducted on human subjects. Therefore, more studies are needed to apply a markerless motion capturetechnology to insects with several legs and joints. In this paper, we propose a method to calculate the continuous pose of smallarticulated animals using multiple view video sequences. This includes the extraction of the initial skeleton model and the extractionof roots and extremities, as well as the calculation of joint kinematics using the Forward and Backward Reaching Inverse Kinematics(FABRIK) algorithm. We also generate the optimal three-dimensional skeleton model using the correction method in order to obtainthe position of the joints.

A portable apparatus mounting Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP) to any small boat was developed to effectively measure currents in shallow and narrow coastal seas like the west coasts of Korea. Characteristics of the apparatus is that an underwater fish-shaped body protecting an ADCP is designed to reduce the drag during the cruise, which can be freely mounted and detached from a boat with a clamp. Several cruise outputs prove themselves that the apparatus is properly designed for the intended purpose, to minimize air bubbles and to control the submerged depth of the sensor.
