Tumor-associated macrophage (TAM) imaging is critical to provide greater insight into cancer diagnosis and treatment, but current strategies to accomplish this are often inadequate. In this study, we prepared a TAM imaging probe by conjugating self-assembled dextran-sulfate nanoparticles (DSNPs) with a near-infrared (NIR) dye, Flamma® 675 (FPR675). The FPR675-labeled DSNPs showed a spherical shape with a hydrodynamic size of 188 nm in the aqueous condition. Interestingly, exhibiting selective cellular uptake behavior mediated by macrophage scavenger receptor class A (SR-A), the FPR675-labeled DSNPs were shown to discriminate between cancer cells and macrophages and were preferentially taken up by TAMs. Furthermore, biocompatible FPR675-labeled DSNPs are favorable for whole-body NIR imaging. When systemically administered into tumor-bearing mice, these nanoprobes effectively accumulated in the tumor site. In immunohistochemistry, we also found that the SR-A-mediated targeting mechanism of the nanoprobes allowed for a robust visualization of TAMs present in the tumor microenvironment. Overall, these findings suggest that DS-based nanoprobes hold the potential for significant breakthroughs in the context of cancer theragnostics for TAM targeting.

Plantago asiatica L. (P. asiatica) has been used as one of the popular folk medicines in Asia for human health care practices. Various activities of P. asiatica have been reported, such as anti-oxidant, anti-glycation,anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective activity. Therefore, the potential of P. asiatica to reduce oxidative stress has been studied in several ways for over 20 years, especially at liver and kidney. However no investigation has been reported revealing its protective effect on prostate. Method : Treatment of P. asiatica leaf ethanolic extract (PLE) (1 g/kg body weight (b.w.), 2 g/kg b.w., or 4 g/kg b.w.) were given separately to animals for pretreatment once per day for 7days, and on the seventh day ferric nitrilotriacetate (Fe-NTA; 0.24 mmol Fe/kg b.w.), which is known as an oxidative stress-inducer at prostate, was administrated by i.p to negative control group. At the end of the study period, dissection was carried out for detecting the prostate protective effect of PLE. Result : Fe-NTA-treated animals produced reactive oxygen species (ROS) resulting in depletion of antioxidant biomaker, such as glutathione (GSH), glutathione reductase (GR), and glutathione s-transferase (GST) and increase of lipid peroxidation in prostate. However, PLE pretreatment resulted in an increase in the GSH, GST and GR levels concentration dependent manner and in an significant decrease in the levels of lipid peroxidation. Conclusion : Our data suggest that PLE may be effective in protecting oxidative stress-induced damage of prostate, and PLE may be an chemopreventive agent against Fe-NTA-mediated prostate oxidative damage.

Viscoplastic response and densification behaviors of Ti-6AI-4V powder compacts under uniaxial compression are studied at room and high temperatures with various initial relative densities and strain rates. The yield function and strain-hardening law proposed by Kim and co-workers were implemented into a finite element program (ABAQUS) to compare experimental data with finite element calculations for porous Ti6A14V powder compacts. Displacement-relative density, displacement-load relations and deformed geometry of Ti-A14V powder compacts were compared with finite element results. Density distributions in Ti-6AI-4V powder compacts were also measured and compared with finite element results.

In the shipbuilding industry, since production processes are so complicated that the data collection for decision making cannot be fully automated, most of production planning and controls are based on the information provided only by field workers. Therefore, without sufficient information it is very difficult to manage the whole production process efficiently. Job status is one of the most important information used for evaluating the remaining processing time in production control, specifically, in block assembly shop. Currently, it is checked by a production manager manually and production planning is modified based on that information, which might cause a delay in production control, resulting in performance degradation. Motivated by these remarks, in this paper we propose an efficient algorithm for identifying job status in block assembly shop for shipbuilding. The algorithm is based on the multi-layer perceptron neural network model using two key factors for input parameters. We showed the superiority of the algorithm by using a numerical experiment, based on real data collected from block assembly shop.

본 연구에서는 상용 폴리실리콘 제조공정 중 삼염화실란 정제공정에 사용되는 증류탑에 대해 분리벽형 증류탑을 적용하는 방안을 제안하였다. 상용 전산모사 프로그램(HYSYS)을 통해 기존의 단순 증류탑을 사용한 정제공정과 분리벽형 증류탑으로 대체한 공정을 각각 전산모사 하여 같은 순도와 수율로 삼염화실리콘을 정제할 때 증류탑에서 소모되는 에너지와 투자비용 효과를 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과, 분리벽형 증류탑을 적용한 정제공정이 기존 정제공정에 비해 약 61%의 에너지 절감 효과와 58%의 투자비용 절감효과를 가지는 것으로 확인되었다. In this study, we suggest the application of the divided-wall column (DWC) to the existing trichlorosilane(TCS) purification process in the commercial polysilicon manufacturing process. Using Aspen HYSYS V7.1, an extensive simulation study was carried out for the analysis of the energy consumptions and capital cost for the conventional sequential distillation configuration and the DWC for producing a given purity and yield of trichlorosilane. As a result, it is shown that the DWC saves the separation energy by 61% and the equipment cost by 58% compared with the conventional distillation process.

FutureSteelVehicle’s (FSV) objective is to develop detailed design concepts for a radically different steel body structure for a compact Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). It also will identify structure changes to accommodate larger Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) and Fuel Cell (FCEV) vehicle variants. The paper will demonstrate optimization of seven structural sub-systems that contribute to the programme’s 35 percent mass reduction goals and meet its safety and life cycle emissions targets. Evaluation of Hydration Effect on Human Skinby 1H MRS at 14.1T

Purpose : We achieved high resolution MR imaging and spectra of human skin in vitro with using a 14.1 T MRI/MRS system, and evaluated the hydration effect of various cosmetic products by measuring the skin’s moisture concentration. Materials and Methods : We used the Bruker 14.1 T MRI/MRS system with a vertical standard bore that was equipped with a DMX spectrometer gradient system (200 G/cm at a maximum 40 A), RF resonators (2, 5 and 10 mm) and Para Vision software. Spin echo and fast spin echo pulse sequences were employed for obtaining the high resolution MR images. The 3D-localized point resolved spectroscopy (PRESS) method was used to acquire the MR spectra. Results : The high resolution MR images and spectra of human skin in vitro were successfully obtained on a 14.1T system. The water concentration of human skin after applying a moisturizer was higher than that before applying a moisturizer. Conclusions : The present study demonstrated that the high-resolution MR images and spectra of human skin from a high field NMR instrument could be applicable to evaluating the hydration state of the stratum corneum. 영어논문
