We report hydrogen adsorption on twisted bilayer graphene (tBLG). Raman spectroscopy and the electrical transport properties (electrical resistance and thermoelectric power) confirm the electron doping by hydrogen adsorption, in agreement with the previous report involving exfoliated bilayer graphene (BLG). Common electron doping behaviors were observed at various twist angles (0, 5, 12.5, and 30), and the adsorptions follow the first-order Langmuir-type adsorption model. Specifically, we analyzed the off-state currents, with band-gap openings of around 13 meV in tBLG with twist angle of 0, as in Bernalstacked BLG.

Synechocystis sp. PCC 6701 has a brilliantly colored pigment, phycobiliprotein containing phycoerythrin. Culture medium was optimized by sequential designs in order to maximize phycobiliprotein production. The observed fresh weights after 6 days were 0.58 g/L in BG-11, 0.83 g/L in medium for Scenedesmus sp. and 0.03~0.52 g/L in the other tested media. Medium for Scenedesmus sp. was selected to be optimized by fractional factorial design and central composite design since the medium maintained a more stable pH within a desirable range due to higher contents of phosphate. The fractional factorial design had seven factors with two levels: KNO₃, NaNO₃, NaH₂PO₄, Na₂HPO₄, Ca(NO₃)₂, FeEDTA, and MgSO₄. From the result of fractional factorial design, nitrate and phosphate were identified as significant factors. A central composite design was then applied with four variables at five levels each: nitrate, phosphate, pH, and light intensity. Parameters such as fresh weight and phycobiliprotein contents were used to determine the optimum value of the four variables. The proposed optimum media contains 0.88 g/L of nitrate, 0.32 g/L of phosphate under 25 μE·m-²·s-¹ of light intensity. The maximum phycobiliprotein contents have been increased over 400%, from 4.9 to 25.9 mg/L after optimization.

Leslie Marmon Silko's Ceremony is a story about storytelling and its curative power. As an Indian writer, Silko tries to depict a “world made of stories” and create reality based on narrative power to heal. For her, the novel is a means to restore this mysterious power of language, which consequently produces a ceremony of reading. An act of telling and of reading is interchangeable in her text. Ceremony has a double-voiced narrative frame: one comes from a realistic, prosaic world of Tayo's personal history and the other develops from mystic, poetic legends of the Laguna oral tradition. The hero begins his quest at an Indian reservation in the aftermath of the World War II. He, as a marginalized being, is alienated from his land and his community. He, therefore, needs to be in touch with the land because there is an inevitable connection between his illness and the droughty land. The text has clan stories fabricated from time immemorial as well, but there is no separation of the real time from the mythic time. Many mythic figures actually disguise themselves at the present time to encourage Tayo to complete his quest. Especially, Ts'eh is Thought Woman personified, helping him to figure out the nature of evil in modern society. She is a Mother/Lover/Mentor to him and ultimately becomes the symbol of the art of storytelling. The novel ends with a strong possibility of purification of Tayo's land and his community, undoubtedly confirming his symbolic rebirth. We, the readers, also experience purified selves and learn how important to remember the story we have read. As long as we keep our memories about it, we can be part of the story and join a new ceremony created by Ceremony.
