Redesign of business processes still attracts a lot of interest. There have been a variety of quantitative approaches to analyze of business process. However, to examine and determine the quality-focused characteristics of the business process, a qualitative approach should be deployed. This paper introduces a qualitative approach process analysis, especially adopted the concept of the emotional engineering which is used in the area of the product design. To analyze the qualitative aspect of the business process, the emotional adjectives for the business process are used. The proposed methodology enables to determine which of business process is better or not in a more intuitive way.

Evaluation of R&D links engineering, science and management disciplines to plan, to develop, and to implement technological capabilities to shape and accomplish the strategic and operational goals of an organization. This paper surveys research & development(R&D) evaluation using a literature review and classification of articles from 1970 to 2009 with keyword index in order to explore how R&D evaluation have developed in this period. Based on the scope of 105 articles of R&D evaluation, this paper surveys and classifies R&D evaluation using the three layers: Research, R&D, and Evaluation. The goal of this paper is to look back at literatures that were published in journals, suggest new classification framework of R&D evaluation, and see each feature of classification framework. We think that this paper allows researchers to extract several lessons learned that are important for R&D evaluation.

Knowledge management is systematic management of vital knowledge resources and its associated processes of creating, gathering, organizing, diffusion, use and exploitation. A key challenge emerging for such organizations is how to encourage knowledge sharing within organization because knowledge is the organization’s intellectual capital, of increasing importance in promoting competitive advantages. Isolated initiatives for promoting knowledge sharing and team collaboration, without taking consideration of the knowledge sharing limitations and constraints can defeat further development of KM culture. This article investigates knowledge sharing bottlenecks and proposes the use of community of practice as an effective instrument for knowledge sharing. The article demonstrates the opportunity for overcoming barriers of knowledge sharing through the application of communities of practice. The article introduces a steel company case as the best practice of communities of practice. Then, the paper empirically analyzes the case study to provide evidence for the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach.
플랜트 O&M을 위한 기자재 조달방식 의사결정에 관한 연구 - 기술전략 관점을 중심으로 -

In the plant industry, the share of equipment accounts for 45 ~ 75%, which is very high. It is a traditional plant centered on processes and reactions like petroleum and chemical plants. Renewable energy generation plants such as wind power generation and solar power generation are equipment-centric plants. Equipment-centric plants are very important not only in the EPC phase but also in the operation and management phase. The procurement of equipment for plant operation and management can be divided into make and buy. Make is a method of producing equipment itself, and buy is a method of procuring equipment from the outside. The procurement method of the equipment directly affects the plant operation and management cost. In this study, the decision making of equipment procurement method for plant operation and management is defined as 4 phase. Each phase is selection of procurement decision-making objects, technology strategy perspective, finance perspective, and production perspective. In detail, we defined selection process of procurement decision-making objects and technology strategy perspective process. We will contribute to the enhancement of the competitiveness of the plant operation and management area by carrying out researches on the process and application examples of financial and production perspectives in the future.

Front End Engineering Design (FEED), currently dominated by a few advanced countries, creates the highest added-value in the in plant construction industry. In the domestic plant engineering industry, it is difficult to acquire its own technology capability and experience due to lack of experience and shortage of experts in advanced design fields such as basic design and FEED. To achieve competitiveness with the advanced countries, it is necessary to establish smart training system for advanced plant design and FEED engineers. This study aims to design an integrated training framework for plant engineering and FEED using system engineering to build a smart plant engineering education system that learns design knowledge based on educational content and experience based on design stage for chemical plant.
시스템엔지니어링을 이용한 턴키방식 플랜트 건설계약의 기술적 위험요인 효과적 분석 및 관리

In the bidding stage of turn-key based plant construction contracts, owners provide design and performance basis for contractors instead of giving design drawing. To win the bid for a plant construction, the contractors should be obliged to satisfy and ensure owners'requirements such as design and performance basis in a plant construction project, In other words, owners imposes technical risk of the design to the contractors by specifying responsibility for the analysis and verification of the plant construction. Thus, it is very important that contracters make accurate and realistic basic design plan in a short period of time. To deal with such a situation, we propose a systems engineering approach for the analysis and management of the technical risk. Specifically, we first: 1) Analyzes technical risk related with the plant design information for the bidders, followed by 2) Developing stakeholder requirements for the basic engineering design, and 3) System requirements for dealing with technical risk. Also, in this paper, we proposed converting method from MOE(Measure of Effectiveness) to MOP(Measure of Performance) in the risk analysis. To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, we carried out a case study.
실행공동체 활동중심의 등급제 기반 정량적 성과관리 및 보상 시스템 구축

본 연구에서는 실행공동체(Community of Practice)활동 수준을 자동으로 평가할 수 있는 등급제 기반의 정량적 성과평가 및 보상체계 모형을 기반으로 실행공동체 성과평가 및 보상을 지원하는 성과관리시스템(CAERS)을 개발하고자 한다. 이를 위해서 첫째, CAERS의 정의 및 특성을 규명하였다. 둘째, 실행공동체와 구성원 두 가지 측면에서 시스템 요구사항을 분석하여 CAERS의 주요기능, 제공할 정보내용, 정보의 가공 및 제공방법을 설계하였다. 마지막으로, CAERS의 아키텍처를 모델링하고 프로토타입을 개발하였다. 개발된 CAERS는 실시간으로 데이터베이스에 접근하여 실행공동체의 성과를 진단하고 평가결과를 이용자에게 알려준다. CAERS를 통해 관리자 및 KM 팀은 실행공동체와 구성원들의 지식공유 활동 현황 및 등급, 보상 정보를 쉽게 조회할 수 있으며, 이러한 정보를 바탕으로 실행공동체 관리 의사결정을 지원한다.
