        Effects of Metallic Nanoparticles on Whispering Gallery Modes in Silicon-on-Insulator Ring Resonators

        A silicon-on-insulator ring resonator was designed, and whispering gallery modes (WGMs) that developed in the ring were characterized numerically using the finite element method with COMSOL Multiphysics software. This study focused mainly on the perturbation of WGM resonance caused by the Ag nanoparticles placed on the top surface of the ring resonator. The peak shifts and the peak splittings of the TE11 and the TM01 WGM modes were monitored by varying the nanoparticle size in the range of 30 - 130 nm. When the nanoparticle was placed at a position where the electric fields of the TM01 mode were maximized, the plots of the peak shift and the peak splitting as functions of the nanoparticle size showed a sharp dip at approximately 58 nm. Possible causes are discussed.

        Effects of Nanogaps on the Whispering Gallery Modes in a Microring Resonator

        In this work, we designed a two-dimensional (2D) microring resonator (Q ~ 8 $\times$10$^5$) and numerically studied the effects of a nanogap on the whispering gallery modes (WGMs). For this purpose, the finite element method with COMSOL multiphysics software was employed. Perturbations of the WGM resonances, which depend on the size and the angle of the nanogap, can be characterized by using the shift, Q value, and splitting of the resonance peaks. For studying the size dependence, we varied the thickness of the horizontal gap from 0 to 140 nm. The resonance wavelengths were increasingly blue-shifted with increasing thickness. The angle dependence showed that the whispering gallery modes were perturbed more strongly by an oblique gap than by either a horizontal or a vertical gap. These results indicate that oblique defects inside a resonator have more critical effects on a high-Q microring resonator than horizontal or vertical ones.

      • 인터넷 지식공유에 영향을 미치는 요인 연구

        기존의 지식공유에 관한 연구들은 KMS를 중심으로 연구를 진행하였다. 그러나 최근에는 폐쇄적 성격을 가진 KMS뿐만 아니라 개방적인 성격의 인터넷 공간에서도 지식 공유 활동이 활발하게 일어나고 있다. 네이버의 지식인, 포털 사이트들의 지식공유 공간들은 그 중요한 예가 욀 것이다 .이런 인터넷 공간에서의 지식공유 행동에 대한 연구는 미비하기 때문에 이에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 이런 상황들을 고찰하여 사회적자본 이론(Social Capital Theory)과 자기표현 개념을 중심으로, 인터넷 지식공유에 미치는 영향 요인들을 밝히고자 시도하였다. 실증분석을 위해서 구조모형을 제안하였으며 PLS를 사용하여 분석하였다. 결과적으로 사회적자본과 자기표현은 지식공유 의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

        Real Stereopsis Test Using a Three-Dimensional Display with Tridef Software

        Purpose: To investigate horizontal image disparity in three-dimensional (3-D) perception using 3-D animations in normal control patients and patients with intermittentexotropia, anisometropic amblyopia, and partially accommodative esotropia. Materials and Methods: A total of 133 subjects were included. Stereopsis was measured using the Titmus Stereo test (Stereo Optical Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) and a 3-D stereopsis test with a 15 inch 3-D display laptop, adjusting 3-D parameters of 0 mm horizontal disparity to 15 mm horizontal disparity. Results: When compared with normal controls, the average threshold of the 3-D stereopsis test was significantly reduced for esotropia patients (p<0.001) and for anisometric amblyopia patients (p<0.001), compared to normal controls. No significant differencewas observed between normal controls and intermittent exotropia patients (p=0.082). The 3-D stereopsis test was correlated with the Titmus Stereo test (Spearman’s rho=0.690, p<0.001). Mean difference in stereoacuity was 1.323 log seconds of arc (95% limits of agreement: 0.486 to 2.112), and 125 (92.5%) patientswere within the limits of agreement. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that a 3-D stereopsis test with animation is highly correlated with the Titmus Stereotest; nevertheless, 3-D stereopsis with animations generates more image disparitiesthan the conventional Titmus Stereo test. The 3-D stereopsis test is highly predictive for estimating real stereopsis in a 3-D movie theater.

        Comparison of Optical Diffraction Gratings Fabricated Using In-plane Switching Cells

        In this work, we compare the optical properties of diffraction gratings fabricated using in-plane switching cells. For this purpose, we constructed three different grating cells while varying the preparation process (E7 100%, E7 50%+glycerol 50%, polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC)). Interestingly, the diffraction efficiency of various diffraction orders of the bulk liquid crystal (LC) samples, measured as a function of the applied voltage, showed several maxima and minima. Microscopic studies of these samples showed a zigzag structure consisting of many rod-like segments connected to each other. Our results showed that the first order diffraction efficiency for the PDLC sample was 5 times larger than those of the bulk LC samples.

        고분자 기판위에 유기 용매를 사용하지 않은 다층 박막 Encapsulation 기술 개발

        The inorganic multi-layer thin film encapsulation was newly adopted to protect the organic layer from moisture and oxygen. Using the electron beam, sputter, inorganic multi-layer thin-film encapsulation was deposited onto the Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) and their interface properties between inorganic and organic layer were investigated. In this investigation, the SiON, $SiO_2$ and parylene layer showed the most suitable properties. Under these conditions, the WVTR for PET can be reduced from level of $0.57g/m^2/day$ (bare subtrate) to $1*10^{-5}g/m^2/day$ after application of a SiON and $SiO_2$ layer. These results indicates that the $PET/SiO_2/SiON/Parylene$ barrier coatings have high potential for flexible organic light-emitting diode(OLED) applications.

        두부규격방사선사진과 측두하악관절 단층방사선사진 계측치간의 상관관계

        Purpose : To examine whether the maxillofacial skeletal morphology correlates with the condylar position and the anatomic characteristics of articular eminence using measurements of lateral cephalometric radiographs and individualized sagittal temporomandibular joint (TMJ) tomographs. Materials and Methods : I compared measurements of 202 TMJs of 101 orthodontic patients of Kangnung National University Dental Hospital. 1 used Pearson's correlation for comparison of the measuring values in lateral cephalometric radiographs and individualized sagittal TMJ tomographs. Results : Large occlusal plane angle tendency showed decreased width of posterior eminence slope, decreased depth of articular fossa and decreased posterior slope angle of eminence. Large mandibular plane angle tendency showed decreased superior joint space, decreased depth of articular fossa and decreased posterior slope angle of eminence. Large genial angle tendency showed decreased depth of articular fossa, decreased posterior slope angle of eminence and anterior position of condylar head. Large anterior facial height and large posterior facial height tendency showed increased width of posterior slope of eminence, increased depth of articular fossa, increased posterior slope angle of eminence and posterior position of condylar head. Conclusion : Maxillofacial skeletal morphology has correlation with the anatomic characteristics of TMJ. Individualized sagittal TMJ tomographs can provide useful information for anatomical analysis of TMJ.

        Cleidocranial dysplasia: a case report

        Cleidocranial dysplasia is a rare, autosomal dominant congenital disorder. A 12-year old female visited with chief complaint of unerupted permanent teeth. Also her father showed severe class III malocclusion. The extraoral radiography and computed tomography showed delayed closure of the cranial sutures and underdevelopment of maxilla, maxillary sinuses, and frontal sinus. Both clavicles were underdeveloped and thoracic rib cage was bellshaped. Both zygomatic process appeared as hypoplastic feature. There were many unerupted permanent and supernumerary teeth in the maxilla and mandible. We examined location and number of the unerupted teeth using 3D CT. Finally we could conclude this case was cleidocranial dysplasia based on the clinico-radiologic findings
