In order to investigate the vortex body frame interaction around the side mirror of a passenger car velocity vector fields in the wake, pressure distributions and boundary layer flows over both the mirror surface and the mirror housing, have been measured by several experimental tools. It was resulted that only within an half downstream distance of the mirror span there appears the recirculation zone, and also found that vortex trail towards to the driver side window between A and B pillars, making the acoustic noise and vibration. Wake vortex rolls up after this recirculating zone and makes the trail of the vortex center towards the driver side window, which was also confirmed by measurements of wake velocity vectors in the vertical sections of the trail and visualization over the side mirror surfaces as well. It was also observed that total pressure distribution over the mirror surface has the minimum peak near the lower tip region which can be considered as the origin of the vortex center. It can be concluded that the geometrical modification of the lower tip and the upper root area of the mirror housing is the key to control the wake vortex.
Immersed Solid Method 를 이용한 외접형 기어 펌프의 수치해석

본 연구는 고속 회전형(~10,000 rpm) 기어펌프의 질량유량과 효율을 예측하기 위해서 2 차원 immersed solid method(ISM)를 이용한 수치해석을 수행하였다. 기어펌프와 하우징의 순환유동을 고려하기 위하여 유체 유동을 난류 유동으로 가정하였고, 기어 펌프의 입 출구의 일정 압력 조건하에 기어펌프의 회전 속도를 부가하였다. 기어펌프의 다양한 회전 속도 및 기어 끝 단과 하우징 사의의 서로 다른 간극에 대한 질량유량 및 효율을 검토하였다. 해석 결과로서, 회전 속도가 증가할수록 평균 질량유량 및 효율은 증가하였고, 기어펌프와 하우징의 간격이 증가할수록 평균 질량유량 및 효율은 감소하였다. 간격이 없는 조건하의 6,000 rpm, 8,000 rpm, 10,000 rpm 회전속도에의 효율은 각각 85.11 %, 90.94 %, 93.62 % 를 얻었고, 간격이 0 m, 0.00001 m, 0.00003 m 에 대해서 효율은 각각 93.62 %, 93.29 %, 92.74 % 를 얻었다. In this study, an ISM (immersed solid method) was used for investigating the mass flow rate and efficiency of an involute-gear pump featuring very high rotational speed. For considering circulation flow at the gear pump and housing, fluid flow was assumed as turbulent, and the rotational speed of the gear pump increased under the condition of constant pressure at both the inlet and outlet. The efficiency and mass flow rate of the gear pump were studied by varying its rotational speed and the clearance between the gear tip and the housing. In the simulation results, as the rotational speed were increased, the average mass flow rate and efficiency increased. Furthermore, as the clearance between the gear tip and the housing was increased, the average mass flow rate and efficiency decreased. The efficiency was 85.11, 90.94, and 93.62 at rotational speeds of 6,000 rpm, 8,000 rpm, and 10,000 rpm, respectively, under the condition that there was no clearance. In addition, the efficiency was 93.62, 93.29, and 92.74 at clearances of 0 m, 0.00001 m, and 0.00003 m respectively.
NACA0015익형을 가지는 로터 깃 끝와류의 후류유동구조

대칭익형 단면을 가지는 모형 깃 끝와류의 후류유동구조의 전개과정을 관찰하기 위하여 2차원 LDV 시스템을 이용하여 끝와류의 회전성분과 축성분을 상평균 기법으로 측정하였다. 비대칭익 로터 깃의 특징에 비하여 대칭익 로터깃의 끝와류는 27° 부근까지 성장과정이 진행되어 다소 늦게 형성되었으며 그 이후부터 상대적으로 완만하게 확산모드가 진행되었다. 회전성분은 실험이 진행된 360° 까지 Vatistas의 n=2모델에 우수한 접근성을 보이면서 자기상사성을 갖는 것으로 관찰되었고 축방향성분은 비대칭익에 비하여 훨씬 강한 세기로 나타나면서 정규분포 성향을 나타내었다. 이들의 결과들은 대칭익의 경우 로터의 추력 발생면에서 끝단손실이 상대적으로 큰 것으로 확인이 되었다. Evolution of tip vortex generated by a model rotor blade which has a symmetric blade section has been investigated by use of the laser doppler anemometry. Swirl and axial velocity components of tip vortex were measured by the phase averaging technique within one revolution of a rotor blade. It was found that tip vortex becomes matured until 27 degrees and diffuses afterwards with diffusing rate becoming slower compared to the case of the asymmetric blade section, but the tip loss was expected to become more substantial. Swirl velocity components were well fit to n=2 model of Vatistas within measured wake ages, showing the self-similarity exists for the swirl velocity components. The axial components were followed with Gaussian profiles, but had much higher peak values than those of the symmetric blade section.

The turbulence structure of e. tip vortex generated by e. fixed wing was investigated with the use of two-dimensional laser Doppler velocimetry. The velocity field, composed of circumferential end axial components, was measured on the vertical section to the vortex trail, located at 2C downstream from the wing tip in the incoming flow condition of $Re=2.24{\times}10^5$. A quasi 3-dimensional measurement technique by use of 2-dimensional LDV system was suggested for Reynolds stresses and the higher moments. The validity of this technique was confirmed with the uncertainty analysis. The budget of the turbulence kinetic energy was analyzed by those results in the radial direction of the vortex core. It is resulted that the production is to be very likely balanced with the dissipation in most range of the vortex core.

대칭익형 단면에 미세한 피치각의 차이를 가지는 두 개의 로터 블레이드의 끝에서 발생하는 와류들의 상호 간섭을 관측하기 위하여 2차원 LDV를 활용하여 끝와류의 회전속도 성분과 축방향속도 성분들을 후류시기에 따라서 측정하였다. 선행 블레이드는 끝와류 축방향 성분이 정규분포를 나타내는 상사성을 위배한 반면, 후행 블레이드는 회전속도 성분이 복합와류를 나타내는 Vatistas' n=2 모형의 상사성을 위배하는 것으로 관찰되었다. 또한, 후류시기 200~240도 근방에서 두 끝와류의 궤적이 근접되어 상호 간섭을 나타내는 것으로 밝혀졌으며 이 시기 동안 후행블레이드의 와류이완 현상이 발생하는 것으로 확인이 되었다. 이러한 후류 간섭은 관절형 허브를 가지는 로터에서도 발생될 것으로 예측된다. In order to observe the wake interaction between tip vortices generated by a two-bladed rotor with slightly different pitch angles, the velocity components of the tip vortices were measured by using a two-dimensional LDV system. It was observed that the swirl velocity components of the ensuing blade deviated from the Vatistas' n = 2 vortex model and the axial velocity components of the preceding blade deviated from the Gaussian profile. It was also found that in the wake-age range of 200° to 240°, the filament of the ensuing blade tip vortex was stretched as result of the closing in of two vortices. The results from these observations suggest the possibility that a similar wake interaction is generated in actual rotor blades, especially, in the ones with articulated hubs.
