칼빈과 웨슬리의 신학적 대화

칼빈신학과 웨슬리신학은 둘 다 종교개혁의 3대원리인 ‘은혜만으로’, ‘믿음만으로’, 그리고 ‘성서만으로’를 굳게 고수하면서, 루터신학과 함께 개신교신학의 큰 기둥과 틀을 유지하고 있다. 특히 한국에서는 칼빈신학의 장로교회와 웨슬리신학의 감리교회와 성결교회가 개신교의 주류를 이루고 있기 때문에 두 신학은 한국 개신교 신학의 양대 기둥이라 할 수 있다. 구원론에 있어서 ‘은혜만으로’ 구원받는다는 원칙과, 은혜로 주어지는 믿음만이 구원의 조건이라는 진리에 대하여 칼빈이나 웨슬리는 일치한다. 그러나 은혜의 작용방식에서 양자는 “머리카락 하나의 차이”(within a hair``sbreadth)는 있다고 웨슬리는 말하였다. 루터는 구원의 방법을 가지고 가톨릭과 투쟁하였고, 칼빈은 루터의 업적을 수용하면서 구원자 하나님에 집중하였고, 웨슬리는 두 선배의 신학을 수용하면서 구원의 대상인 인간에게 관심을 집중하였다. 세 사람의 중심주제가 모이면 구원론이 완성된다, 즉 절대자 하나님은(칼빈) 자신이 정한 방식에 따라서(루터) 인간을(웨슬리) 구원하신다. 루터와 칼빈과 웨슬리의 신학을이와 같이 이해해야 개신교회의 신학을 통전적으로 이해할 수 있을 것이다. 모든 신학은 하나의 신학이지 절대적인 신학이 될 수 없다. 자기의 신학이 나 교리를 절대화할 때 교조주의가 나타나며 독선의 위험이 도사린다. 기독교의 기본원리나 교리에 일치한다면 의견의 차이는 서로 이해하도록 노력해야 한다. 복음주의에 속한 사람들은 자기의 신학적 입장을 분명히 하고, 그에 따라서 자신의 신앙과 목회철학이 확립되어야한다. 그러나 자신의 신학에 대한 우월의식을 가지거나, 또는 나와 다른 신학을 배격하거나 비난하거나 심지어 정죄해서는 안 된다 With lutheran theology, calvinistic and wesleyan theology hold fast to the principles of the Reformation, that is ‘only grace’, ‘only faith’, ‘only Bible’. In Korea, calvinistic and wesleyan theology are two pillars of protestant theology because Korean church is consist of calvinistic presbyterian church and wesleyan methodist and holiness church in terms of membership. Both Calvin and Wesley have the principle of salvation, that is ‘we are saved by grace through faith’. But as Wesley points out, even though that is ‘within a hair’s breadth’, there are some different points in them. They disagree with each other to the operating way of God’s grace for our salvation. Luther fights against catholic church for the way of salvation, after accepting Luther’s ‘three only principles’, Calvin focuses on the ‘redeemer God’, and Wesley, after accepting Luther’s and Calvin’s points, emphasizes man as the object of salvation. Thus the three great leader’s idea completes the soteriology of protestant theology, that is, absolute God (Calvin) saves man (Wesley) according to the biblical way (Luter). For the wholistic protestant theology we need the eye of synthetic understanding of those three protestant fathers. Every theology is a theology, not the theology. Therefore evangelical theologians must not be arrogant of his theology and at the same time denounce or judge other theology which is different from his own. As far as we agree to the fundamental doctrines, we must accept the mere differences of opinions.

칼빈과 웨슬리 신학의 주요 사상 비교

한국 기독교의 신학은 크게 칼빈신학과 웨슬리신학의 양대 기둥으로 구성되어 있다. 물론 개신교회의 신학을 말할 때 루터의 신학이 근본원칙을 제공하는 것처럼, 이 두 신학도 루터의 신학 원칙 위에 서있다. 루터는 천주교회의 잘못된 가르침에 저항하면서 성서적인 ‘구원의 방법’을 정립하였고, 칼빈은 루터의 ‘구원의 방법’을 가지고서 ‘누가 구원하는가?’라는 물음에서 ‘절대자 하나님’ 개념을 확립하였고, 웨슬리는 칼빈이 강조한 절대자 하나님이 루터가 정립한 구원의 방법을 가지고서 ‘누구를 구원하는가?’라는 질문에서 ‘구원의 대상인 인간’을 강조하게 되었다. 세 위대한 선각자들은 각자 자기 상황에서 시대적 사명을 완수하였다. ‘삼겹줄은 끊어지지 않는 것처럼’ 루터, 칼빈, 웨슬리의 신학이 바로 이해되고 상호 보완될 때 개신교회의 신학이 올바로 정립되고 완성될 수 있다고 생각한다. 웨슬리 시대에 예정론 때문에 칼빈주의자들과 논쟁이 있었던 것처럼, 지금도 한국교회나 신학교에서 가끔씩 칼빈과 웨슬리의 신학을 주제로 논쟁이 있으며 심지어는 상호 비방도 있다. 칼빈신학과 웨슬리신학의 상호 이해의 폭을 넓히기 위하여 신학적 대화가 필요하다. 먼저 서로의 차이점을 알고, 그 배경과 근원을 살펴보고, 그 진정한 의미를 파악하는 것이 중요하다. 서로가 다르다는 것을 인정할 때 진정한 대화가 이루어질 수 있기 때문이다. 이를 위하여 칼빈신학과 웨슬리신학의 중요 주제들을 그 강조점과 차이점을 중심으로 비교하고자 한다. 그 주제들은 1) 하나님의 절대권과 인간의 자유의지 2) 은혜로 얻는 구원 3) 속죄의 범위 4) 구원의 대상 5) 성화(성결) 이다. 위의 주제들을 비교함으로 얻어진 교훈은 ‘원칙은 일치하나 그 적용에 차이가 있다’는 점이다. 하나의 완전한 신학이 있을 수 없으므로 서로 협력하여 하나님의 신비와 진리를 조금씩 밝혀나가는 겸손한 신학작업이 필요하다. Calvinism and wesleyanism are two major pillars of Christian theology in Korea. Needless to say, the foundation of all the protestant theologies (even churches) is the theology of Luther. both Calvinism and wesleyanism are standing on the theology of Luther. Luther, who fought against the wrong way of salvation taught by the Catholic church, established ``biblical way of salvation``. Calvin accepted Luther`s ``biblical way of salvation``, then established the idea of ``the sovereign God`` as an answer to his own question of “who saves me by the ``biblical way of salvation``. Almost two centuries later, Wesley standing on the principles of Luther and Calvin established the idea of “man as the object of salvation” as an answer to his own question of “who is saved by ``the sovereign God`` with the ``biblical way of salvation``. As “a threefold cord is not quickly broken”(Eccles. 4:12), the protestant theologies can be completed when the three great theologians` ideas are properly and supplementary understood. Just like there were some controversies with ``predestination`` between calvinist and wesleyan in the 18th century, some arguments are often occurred between calvinist and wesleyan in Korea today. Therefore theological dialogue between calvinist and wesleyan is required to promote mutual understanding. Through dialogue, we can also find out the common or different factors in two theologies. To promote mutual understanding through dialogue, the following themes are needed to discuss : such as 1) God`s sovereignty and human free will, 2) salvation by faith, 3) limited or unlimited atonement, 4) the object of salvation, 5) sanctification (holiness). From the comparative study of those themes between calvinism and wesleyanism, we come to a conclusion that they agree to principle, but disagree to application of the principle. It is impossible to have a perfect theology, therefore we must humbly cooperate in a course of theologizing to know the truth.

Performance of a small-capacity solar absorption cooling system was investigated experimentally. Ten sets of evacuative-tube solar-heat collectors and a 5 kW single-stage absorption cooler were combined to produce a hybrid cooling system. The performance of the cooling system was measured using a tim-coil unit installed in a small plastic storage. It was found from the test on a sunny day of May that when the temperature of the hot water supplied from the solar collectors to the generator of the absorption cooler reached $60^{\circ}C$, the absorption cooler started cooling and the cold water temperature measured from the fan-coil unit reached $18^{\circ}C$. The COP, which is defined as the ratio of the cooling power to the total electrical power input was higher than 1.0.

Performance of a small capacity solar heat driven absorption cooling system was investigated experimentally. Ten sets of evacuative tube solar heat collectors and a 5 ㎾ single-stage absorption cooler were combined to produce a hybrid cooling system. The performance of the cooling system was measured using a fan coil unit installed in a small cabin. It was found from the test on a sunny day in May that when the temperature of the hot water supplied from the solar collector to the generator of the absorption cooler reached about 62.4 ℃, the absorption cooler started cooling and the cold water temperature measured in the fan-coil unit reached 18.6℃. The COP, which is the ratio of the cooling power to the total electrical power input was higher than 1.5.

In this paper, we propose a load-balancing framework to construct scalable distributed server systems. This framework can make the server of any client-server systems scalable with only a few modification. This paper also study the way to apply our framework to an on-line session server. The concerned session server is a server that manages sessions for on-line communication applications, such as chatting and video-conferencing on Internet. In applying, we design the session server to accept the functions of the framework and the load-balancing information communication protocols.
