Artemisia princeps Pampanini (Sahabalssuk) was extracted with 80% aqueous MeOH, and the concentrated extract was partitioned with EtOAc, n-BuOH and H20, successively. From the EtOAc fraction, two chlorophylls were isolated through the repeated silica gel column chromatography. From the results of physico-chemical data including NMR, MS and IR, the chemical stmctures of the chlorophylls were determined as chlorophyll a (1) and pheophorbide a methyl ester (2). They were the first to be isolated from Artemisia princeps Pampanini (Sajabalssuk).

Purpose: This study is to evaluate the efficacy of the autogenous tooth bone graft material, clinically and radiologically, as related to implant installation. Methods: In oral and maxillofacial surgery department of Ajou University Hospital, guided bone regeneration (GBR), implant placement combined with GBR, sinus graft, implant placement combined with sinus graft, and defect filling were performed in 46 patients, using autogenous tooth bone. Among these, 66 implants were inserted with autogenous tooth bone. Implant stability quotient (ISQ) was measured by Osstell Mentor (Integration Diagnostics, Goteborg, Sweden) on 39 implants on the operation date and 4 months later, and on 21 implants 9months on the average at the final setting of restoration. Twenty-eight implants with GBR and sinus graft (GBR group: n=14, sinus graft group: n=14) were evaluated radiologically to measure the resorption of grafted autogenous tooth bone after loading. Results: The average initial stabilization of the installed implants was 67 ISQ, and the average secondary stabilization at 4 months later was 76. The average bone loss of GBR group as measured 8.0 months after application of prosthesis loading was 0.29 mm and the average bone loss of the sinus graft group as measured 7.6 months after application of prosthesis loading was 0.66 mm, respectively. In the histological assessment, formation of the new bone and continuous trabecular bone pattern was identified around autogenous tooth bone. Conclusion: Based on these results, we concluded that autogenous tooth bone is an excellent bone graft material that can substitute the autogenous bone.
강화도 약쑥(Artemisia princeps Pampanini) Callus로부터 Sterols의 생산

강화약쑥의 기내배양을 통하여 유효활성물질의 대량생산 가능성을 확인하고자 하였다. Callus 유도는 auxin계의 대표적인 물질인 2mg/ℓ, 2,4-D가 첨가된 고체배지에서 17일 정도에 유도되어 가장 빠른 것으로 나타났으며, 생육도 양호하였다. 또한, 2mg/ℓ, 2,4-D와 sucrose 5g/ℓ 을 첨가한 MS 배지에서 callus의 생육이 가장 좋은 것으로 나타났으며, 배양 10일부터 20일 까지는 완만한 생장을 보였고, 배양 20일후부터 30일 까지 왕성한 생장을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 강화약쑥의 callus 추출물을 TLC분석한 결과 강화약쑥의 전초에서 발견된 steroid 화합물인 β-sitosterol과 daucosterol이 존재한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러나, 식물체와 기내 배양한 세포사이에는 많은 대사물질의 차이를 나타내었고 callus에 존재하는 유용하고 다양한 대사물질을 기내배양을 통하여 대량생산 할 수 있는 가능성을 제시하고 있다. The study was conducted to examine the mass production potential of activie compounds by in vitro culture of Artemisia princeps Pampanini. The plant has been known as a crude medicine and used for treatment of colic pain, cardiotonic and antiphlogostic. The callus was induced and cultured in a agar medium containing 2 mg/ℓ 2,4-D, 5g/ℓ sucrose. TLC analyses of the callus extract showed that it contained β-sitosterol and daucosterol, which were reportedly detected in the leaves of the plant. TLC analyses suggested that there were some differences in metabolites between the callus in vitro and intact plant, yet in vitro culture had a potential for a mass production of secondary metabolites from Artemisia princeps Pampanini.

Objectives : Agastachis herba is a aerial part of Agastache rugosa(Fischer et Meyer) O. Kuntze which has been used as traditional medicines. Methods : The samples were collected using a domestic cultivation of Agastachis Herba. We experiment on essential oil content, the content of ethanol soluble extracts and HPLC profiling. Results : Loss on drying of Agastachis Herba contents of harvest in June ~ July was 4.93~8.26% and contents of harvest in August ~ September was 3.88~5.38%. Ash of Agastachis Herba contents of harvest in June ~ July was 5.07~7.97% and contents of harvest in August ~ September was 4.55~7.61%. Acid-insoluble ash of Agastachis Herba contents of harvest in June ~ July was 0.43~1.62% and contents of harvest in August ~ September was 0.46~1.44%. Essential oil contents of Agastachis Herba contents of harvest in June ~ July was 0.2~0.4 ㎖ and contents of harvest in August ~ September was 0.2~0.6 ㎖. Ethanol soluble extracts of Agastachis Herba contents of harvest in June ~ July was 9.72~20.44% and contents of harvest in August ~ September was 11.00~18.70%. HPLC profiling was detected of tilianin(12.93 min), acacetin(15.84 min) and agastachoside(17.95 min). Conclusion : Agastachis Herba should be harvested from August ~ September, the time of flowering. This is because of the high content of active compounds.

Background: Leonurine is a the aerial part of Leonurus japonicus Houttuyn, which has been used as a traditional medicines and is registered in the Korean Pharmacopoeia.Methods and Results:In the present study we performed a heavy metals and thin layer chromatography and measured loss on drying, as well as the contents of total ash, acid-insoluble ash, ethanol soluble compounds, and leonurine, using 15 domestically collected L. japonicus samples. The methods were performed according to the ‘crude drugs test of the general test, processes and apparatus’, published by MFDS, Korea (2014). The purity test (heavy metals) indicated that levels of Pb and Hg were 0.35 - 3.64, and 0.001 ppm, respectively, whereas the levels of As and Cd were undetectable, and stachydrine was identified by thin layer chromatography (Rf : 0.15). We found that 5.93 - 10.62% (average: 8.58 ± 1.8%) of the sample mass was lost during drying, and the contents of total ash, acid-insoluble ash, ethanol soluble compounds, and leonurine were 7.87 - 10.84% (average: 9.62 ± 0.82%), 0.99 - 1.76% (average: 1.38 ± 0.24%), 16.70 - 23.11% (average: 19.49 ± 2.14%) and 0.04 - 0.17% (average: 0.11 ± 0.04%) respectively. In addition, HPLC profiling detected leonurine (5.94 min), rutin (16.43 min) and myricetin (26.78 min).Conclusions:We hope that this the rusult of the present study will contribute to the standardization and quality control of Korean herbal medicines.
