In Lee Tae-jun’s short story Sunset, the classical characteristic that is a special characteristic of this story is clearly revealed. It can be seen from the background such as the museum and temple that the main character Maeheon visited in his trip to Gyeongju. While feeling the sorrow of aging helplessly, the main character realizes that there is something that does not change even over time, which is beauty. As the main character realizes that there is something not only from this world but also from antiquity that have such beauty, he thinks that it is something such as the beauty of a young woman seen without any evil intent. He feels such thing from Taoak, a woman he occasionally met during his travel. At the moment she left his side, however, he ends up looking at beautiful sunset and accepts the emptiness of life felt from it. Meanwhile, our unique history or ancient culture is revealed in various places in Sunset. Through such element as if carelessly sliding by, the writer is symbolically revealing the sorrow of Korean people living in a bleak period of the late Japanese colonial period. In addition, rich and skillful command of vocabulary or designation, conversation and sensible expression can be seen in his literary work, which also tells the writer’s superior creative technique. In short, it can be said that Lee Tae-jun’s autobiographical and classical novel Sunset is a piece of beautiful painting on the subject of life.

This article studied the research history of the interpretation of goryeogayo. While abundant researches on goryeogayo have been conducted and organized in lists afterwards, the study on the research history of its interpretation has not been undertaken. Considering of the importance of this field, I investigated who were the important scholars of this field and what were their methods and results. Through this investigation, I drew the conclusions as follows: The pioneering academic work on goryeogayo is not Goryeosiga(The Songs and Poetry of Goryeo, 1925) by Kim Sowon as widely known, but it is Ijosidaeui Gayo(The Songs of Joseon Dynasty, 1927) by An Hwak. This misunderstanding was caused by the titles of these books. An Hwak should be paid more attention with regard to his contribution to the study on the interpretation of goryeogayo, and this is the same with Kim Taejun. An Hwak introduced goryeogayo as a literary genre to academia for the first time, and Kim Taejun applied the common ways of interpreting classical materials to goryeogayo. In 1940’s, Yang Judong published Yeoyojeonju(Commentary and Interpretation of Goryeogayo). This was a groundbreaking study on goryeogayo in that it consulted massive materials and arranged them systematically. I exemplified these characteristics of this book and presented statistics related to them. I also clarified Yang’s study was influenced by Kim Taejun’s previous study. From 1950’s to 1960’s, Kim Hyeonggyu, Jeon Gyutae, and Bak Byeongchae led this field of study, but they did not progress beyond Yang’s work. On the contrary, Nam Gwang Wu, Seo Jaegeuk, and Kim Wanjin, who worked vigorously from 1970’s to 1980’s, newly discovered archaic words and grammatic systems, to compensate the problems in Yang’s interpretation. Discovering archaic words plays a pivotal role in the history of the interpretation of goryeogayo. Recently discovered words such as yeongotdong, saksakhan pyeo, seoljin got, bundi ban, and osoida are crucial to interpret “Jeongseokga”, “Choengsanbyeolgok”, and “Dongdong”, respectively. Thus scholars in this field should keep devoting much effort to discovering such archaic words.

The purpose of this paper was to propose reasonable improvement measures by investigating current use of loan words and foreign language in broadcasting. For that, we conducted discussion after examining current use of both loan words and foreign language in 18 dramas that had been put on the airwaves by 3 terrestrial channels and 4 cable TV channels over the last 5 months. For loan words, we suggested that refined words, if any, should be used based on naturalness on one hand and revised or complemented on the other hand. For foreign language, we proposed alternative indigenous Korean expressions if there were any available Korean words that could replace foreign words, phrases, and sentences naturally. For expressions used to describe new objects in loan words and foreign language, expressions that reflected sociocultural phenomenon, and idiomatic expressions that could be shared with the public, we presented a method for excluding such expressions from restriction or lowering the management threshold.

The poems of KIM HYE SUN suggests the problem awareness of human beings to the others; and, they are closely related to the philosophy of the others by Levinas because of demanding the responsibility. In her poems, the others are considered as the objects neglected and in torment such as women, animals or laborers. As her poems admits the 'difference' and understands its unfamiliarity, she thinks about the others around the subject. In Part 2, the visual imageries are expressed as the images of 'light' such as 'sun', 'bright' light, 'camera', 'moon' and 'mirror'. By them, we can find the others being in torment. In Part 3, she shows the relationship between 'You' and 'I' by exchanging their wits. Moreover, not one, but 'two moons' materialize solidarity and a 'broken mirror' shows a positive relationship between a mother and a daughter being same and different each other. As the possible time to sympathize is made, each object maintains its identity and the positive relationship with an other becomes formed. The visual imageries in her poem make us find the other's torment and suggest the co-existent relationship giving way to the others and practicing love and sacrifice.

There are many anecdotes related to sex in <Yongjaechonghwa>. Although a writer of <Yongjaechonghwa> belonged to the uppermost class of the early days of the Joseon Dynasty, it is interesting that the writer wrote about sex that is not suited to Confucian thinking of the day. Therefore, this study examined anecdotes related to sex in <Yongjaechonghwa>, and the meaning of these anecdotes. In addition, writer consciousness and influence on history of literature were examined. The early days of the Joseon Dynasty were the time when the foundation of the nation was established by Confucianism. Seonghyeon, the writer of <Yongjaechonghwa> belonged to the uppermost class of the day. However, he thought that sexual desire is human basic instinct and it is wrong to suppress this desire. Therefore, there are many anecdotes related to sex in <Yongjaechonghwa>, and he thought positively about not suppressing sex and expressing it freely. Especially, although someone was a lecher, Seonghyeon did not evaluate him negatively. Although a lecher was a Buddhist monk, Seonghyeon thought that he shows human natural instinct. Seonghyeon thought that not only historic events but also everything happening around people are valuable, so <Yongjaechonghwa> included various contents. Especially, there are many contents related to sex, because he was into music and there were women and alcoholic drink in a place with music at the time. In this place, many things related to sex happened. Seonghyeon described things that he saw, heard, and experienced in this place and reflected on his own life, so took some time for introspection. In addition, Seonghyeon thought that female sexual desire is important. This thought means sexual values that woman can be the sexual subject in a male-dominated society. In Korean history of literature, anecdotes related to sex of <Yongjaechonghwa> mean that material and expression of writing are expanded.

This study investigated aspects of being strategy of ‘different body- becoming’ shown on modern woman poetry, focusing on poems written by Lee Won and Kim Haeng-sook. The author gave attention on ‘different body- becoming’. This is because studies on woman poems so far have stress on ‘female body’ which post-modern feminists suggested. But when woman poems are read only in ‘woman body’, manhood can be rather neglected or various voices of woman poems can be intercepted. Above all, poems of the two poets are characterized by this- two all are not conscious of ‘woman body’ herself. Accordingly, it would be necessary to newly approach study of ‘body’ in woman poems in a more comprehensive way. The study read poems of the two poets, referring to ‘- becoming’ theory of Gilles Deleuze who refused uniqueness and oneness of (woman) body. According to Deleuze, body is anarchism and produces various desires. ‘- becoming’ means mechanism of desire created at the point. This aims at strong qualitative change which comes from connection between one body and another body. Here, the change means new creation and shift, not imitation of other body. Deleuze suggested this as concept of body without organs and asserted that this concept is a subject which we should finally arrive at. In the poems of Lee Won, ‘body’ is disclosed through reification- becoming. As a subject of becoming, a speaker is suggested in complex figure which becomes one with accessary of machine or strange nature. But the speaker is not fixed to a certain state. It is intimated that the speaker can move and change continuously. The poet rouses even the other side of thing(body) which was closed by human subjective idea, minimizing her own idea. Body drawn in this way is a subject of post-center free from concept of symbolic system. The body shows the poet’s desire which leaves and escapes from existing idea. Poems of Kim Haeng-sook also show similar aspects to Lee Won. But her poems are different from Lee Won as her poems show another creation such as ‘gas’, ‘grain’ etc. Speakers as gas or grain stay in other body and then, are reborn in completely new appearance. When they stay in other body, they are not bound in one oneness. Partial individual without subject becomes ‘I’ and it shifts and is created without pause. Through this, not only existence method but also method to have a relationship with others are explored. Poems of the two poets would have meaning that their poems do not consider immense enemy as man but break all the existing ideas and newly explore now-here, our existence and relationship.
