This research is a study of the online international exchange project of three universities conducted in 2021.to the recent global epidemic of COVID-19, online design learning has been conducted all over the Globe by different educational institutions in order to prevent massive infections. In addition, there are many concerns about the possibility of achieving the sustainable development goals(SDGs) adopted by the leaders of the United Nations member states at the UN General assembly in September 2015. main purpose of this study is select Korean and Japanese universities that teach Design, to understand the current status of design education in the modern era to compare and analyze the history of design education, academic structure, online education method, class satisfaction of both universities, and seek the future of design learning. Therefore, the research target universities continued exchanges for more than 20 years and Dongseo University and Kyushu Industrial University were selected, which are design-specialized universities. Next, the history of design education in Korea and design education in Japan, the academic structure of both universities, and international exchange projects are described. Since Dongseo University is a design-specialized university, conducting an online international exchange project course with Ulsan University and its overseas affiliated institutions, including Kyushu Industrial University of Japan. The three universities have been operating international exchange programs through mutual visits every year during summer vacation. The program was converted to a new concept practical online class method. Research method is described in the following order.a survey was conducted from April 24 to May7,2021, targeting a total of 106 students(78) and professors(28). The main content of the survey was the current status of online education methods in design universities, which mainly consists of practical classes. After identifying the advantages and disadvantages of online and face-to-face classes they were compared, and the direction of future design education was presented. In Design education theoretical and practical classes are both important, although theoretical classes can to be conducted online, and practical classes need to be conducted depending on the situation, such as how to conduct face-to-face classes, how to set the number of students in advance, or by time.addition, this study conducted a second survey of 12 questions from April 24 to May 7, 2021, related to online education and the main content was education method, teaching method, and learning gap. The survey was conducted focusing on the contents (special lectures, workshops, interim and final presentations) of the subjects of the international online exchange project, and the satisfaction of 53 participants. Another survey was conducted after the completion of the interim announcement between October 15 and October 21, 2021. Third, it was conducted after the final presentation of the online international exchange project course was completed. The period was held from December 07 to December 19, 2021. As a result, there were several problems such as language and communication problems between students, difficulties in investing time, etc., but overall satisfaction was 80% or more positive. Online education platforms can converge through new technology, virtual campuses and virtual classrooms based on future of online international exchange project subject directions, SNS(Instagram, Facebook, YouTube etc.) and virtual space(AR, VR, metaverse). Research is conducted to develop and expand exchange projects in various countries, such as the use of language and culture, reinforcement of prior learning such as language and culture, and communication methods. 본 연구는 2021년 진행했던 3개 대학 온라인을 통한 국제교류프로젝트 교과목에 관한 연구이다. 최근 코로나-19 감염병(COVED-19)의 글로벌 유행으로 현대시대는 온라인 통한 디자인 교육이 이루어지고 있다. 특히 UN(United Nations)지정한 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) 지속가능한 발전목표인 4.모두를 위한 양질의 교육의 목표(Quality Education)를 달성하기 위해 많은 고민과 갈등을 갖고 있다. 본 연구는 현대시대의 디자인 교육 현황의 이해 및 파악을 위하여 한국과 일본의 디자인 대학교를 선택하고 양국의 디자인 교육의 역사와 양 대학의 학사 구조, 온라인 교육 방식 및 수업 만족도를 비교분석하고, 이들 양 대학의 교육사례를 바탕으로 향후 디자인 교육의 방향을 모색하고자 한다. 이에 연구대상 대학교는 20년 이상 교류를 지속하고 디자인 특성화 대학인 동서대학교와 규슈산업대학교를 선정하였다. 선행연구로써 온라인 교육의 개념 및 유형을 조사하였다. 다음, 한국의 디자인교육과 일본의 디자인 교육의 역사 및 양 대학의 학사구조, 국제교류 프로젝트에 관해 기술하였다. 또한, 디자인 특성화 대학인 한국 동서대학교는 울산대학교와 해외 자매대학인 일본 규슈산업대학교와 온라인을 통한 국제교류프로젝트 교과목을 2021년 6월부터 12월까지 진행하였다. 3대학교는 매년 여름방학기간을 활용하여 상호방문을 통한 국제교류 프로그램을 운영해왔다. 이번 온라인을 통한 신개념 실질적 수업방식으로 프로그램을 전환하였다. 연구 방법은 다음과 같은 순서로 기술한다. 첫째, 1차 설문조사는 양대학의 학생(78명), 교수(28명) 총106명을 대상으로 2021년 4월 24일~5월 7일에 진행하였다. 디자인대학내 온라인 교육 방식의 현황을 기술하였다. 주로 실습수업으로 이루지는 디자인교육에서는 온라인수업에서의 한계점이 있다. 또한, 수업 중에 카메라 활용 여부와 교수와 학생의 의사소통 등 문제점 있다. 이러한 문제점을 파악 후에 온라인수업과 대면 수업의 장단점을 비교하고, 향후 디자인 교육의 방향성을 제시하였다. 디자인 교육은 실습수업이 중요하기에 이론수업은 온라인으로 진행하고, 실습수업은 대면으로 진행하는 방식, 미리 수강인원을 정하거나 시간별로 진행할 방식 등 상황에 따라 실습교육이 이루어지도록 할 필요가 있다. 더불어, 본 연구는 학생대상으로 온라인 교육 및 온라인콘텐츠 관련된 12문항과 교수대상으로 교육방법, 교육내용, 우수교수법, 학습격차 등 11문항으로 설문조사를 2021년 4월 24일 ~ 5월 7일 가간에 실시하였다. 둘째, 온라인을 통한 국제교류프로젝트 교과목의 내용(특강, 워크숍, 중간 및 최종발표) 및 참여자(53명) 만족도를 중심으로 설문조사를 진행하였다. 2차 설문조사는 2021년 10월 15일~10월 21일 기간에 중간발표 종료 후에 진행하였다. 셋째, 온라인 국제교류프로젝트 교과목의 최종발표 종료 후에 진행하였다. 기간은 2021년 12월 07일~12월 19일에 진행하였다. 그 결과, 학생간의 언어 및 소통문제, 시간 투자의 어려움 등 여러 문제점 있었지만, 전체적인 만족도는 모두 80% 이상 긍정적인 반응을 얻었다. 향후 온라인 국제교류프로젝트 교과목의 방향성과 SNS(인스타그램, 페이스북, YouTube 등), 가상공간(AR, VR, 메타버스)을 기반으로 가상캠퍼스 및 가상강의실을 통한 새로운 기술융합을 통한 온라인 교육 플랫폼의 활용, 언어 및 문화 등 사전학습의 강화, 커뮤니케이션의 방법 등 다양한 국가의 교류 프로젝트의 발전 및 확대되기 위해 연구를 한다.
